What a fantastic read. Fast paced from the beginning. It’s well written and the plot was well thought out and researched. Lots of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Sadly this was a DNF for me but I have marked it as three stars as this was just not engaging me enough to keep reading and it’s unfair to rate less when it’s probably down to me not feeling great rather than the book itself

This book was OK. Didn't grab me which I was surprised at when reading the blurb and the reviews. I found it slow in some places

This book was my first of Collins and Oh BOY! This book was dark and super creepy, exactly what I want in a thriller! I loved it!

This is a fantastic book which proves that things are not always what they seem on the surface! I really enjoyed the twists and turns, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

If you enjoy books that sink there claws in to you and linger in conscious longer after you have read it then you need to read Nanny Dearest. It's a haunting, twisty and suspense filled read that is very hard to forget.

Cut into different timelines. A nanny who is dearly love the kid she was looking after .
Quite unique the ending . Abit rush but never expected the ending.
Both of the characters needed help (well of course in reality ) but in this bool you will feel the need of both of them.
It just didn’t end well for the nanny , but she is quite pushy too without explanation.
Suz is more like lost, she lost her parents and needed affection. But it turns out obsession.

Overall for me it was a great story.
Very fast pace .

Sue Keller lost her mother at a young age and when her over protective father dies she feels devastated and lost. When a former Nanny of hers suddenly reappears Sue finds it a way to learn about her life before her mothers death. The plot was good and it was written well but I felt that Sue's relationship with the Nanny was unbelievable and slightly ridiculous. Would a grown woman really curl up on her ex nanny's knee and let her stroke her hair every time they met? Was Sue's grief not a little over the top as her life before her fathers death had been busy and productive and she hadn't shown any signs of being traumatised by her mother's death. As the Nanny starts to show that she is not quite what she seems you think that Sue is going to realise that how she is acting is strange and odd but then at the end it slips back into overt sentiment and you are not quite sure what the actual outcome was! Not for me I am afraid.

I really expected more from this one. I found it hard going and I didnt really like any of the characters. Not really for me.

This book was very slow for me which influenced my rating. I found it to be very predictable and I had no connections with the characters.

Unlikable characters who didn't make me feel the suspense of the plot line, slow moving scenes that did not keep me gripped to my kindle. And to top it off, it was completely predictable. Needed more thrill to be added. An okay read

When Sue has a chance encounter with her old nanny Annie is it random that they have reconnected after all this time is is there more going on? This book went from past - when she was a child and Annie was the young nanny in the Keller household and the present. It was really interesting how this all unfolded and how it all started to spiral out of control. This was a thriller and it had quite a good level of creepy but I think that it could have had something just a little bit more for me

Arrrrrhhh I hate to say it BUT I did promise the good, bad and ugly with my reviews... BORING!

This honesty just left me rolling my eyes with boredom amongst other feelings of disappointment.

The synopsis dragged me in, it really did but as my teenage son would say.. 'meh'

The characters were wholly unlikeable and what a whiny pathetic excuse for a woman Sue is.

Written across dual timelines of the 1990s and the present day it isn't until about 2/3 of the way into the book it has any semblance to a thriller at all.

I'm giving 2* as I feel the actual core storyline was ok, was just the rest of it !

As a side note I have to add... Was the animal abuse really needed? I'm pretty sure the majority of readers will skim that part.. unnecessary!

I really did struggle with this book. It just didn’t grip me at all . Told from the POV of the nanny Annaliese in the past and Susie the child in the present. It was quite dark in places.

This was a slow burner but I was determined to finish the book. The ending was quite abrupt too - but it still kept me interested wanting to know more.

Oh I liked this one, soooooooo creepy and enjoyable I didn’t want to put it down (and didnt) a brilliant novel I thought even when you’ve read similar (as I have) this one was one of my best so far! Loved it, more please!

Quite dark in places and a bit of a slow burn, but starts to pick up about half way through if you stick with it.
