I really loved this book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end
In Mistletoe Cake Murder, Savannah and Leo are preparing to marry on Christmas Eve. Things are going smoothly until they visit the caterer for the last tasting right not too long before the wedding. The caterer has another bride and groom doing their tastings at the same time. Savannah and Gia overhear the bride and her son arguing about her soon-to-be husband. Then, the bride falls down inside the caterer's shop after sampling some wedding cake. Her death casts a horrible shadow over Gia and Savannah, along with their friend Alyssa's catering company. Gia goes on the hunt to catch a killer to save her friend's reputation and keep Savannah and Leo's wedding on track.
I love Gia. She came from New York one person and has since evolved into another as she gets used to the differences in Florida. Gia is a very strong character and I enjoy the books about her world. Samantha and Hunt are wonderful characters. Savannah is a wonderful best friend and Hunt is another person who has Gia's back. The character development continues as we learn more about the characters, old and new, without being bogged down with useless filler.
Mistletoe Cake Murder is another great book in the All-Day Breakfast Café Mystery series. The book is perfectly paced - not too fast and not too slow. I was pulled in from the very beginning and engaged in the plot. The story was fun, exciting, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns. I had a wonderful time trying to figure out just what happened and who was responsible. The continued world building is great, and I was able to visualize the story.
Every single character in this book is likable, the setting in Florida is nice, and the assortment of suspects kept me on my toes. The chemistry between Gia and Hunt is sweet and believable. I prefer a little bit of soft romance in my cozy mysteries and this series hits the mark. I really enjoy the author's writing style and devour every book she publishes.
Lena Gregory is a new to me author and I have to say I am looking forward to reading more by this author! I loved this book
Christmas time in Florida is much different than in NY as Gia is about to find out.
The All-Day Breakfast Cafe series is such a fun and entertaining series and this one, number six in the series is no different.
So much going on here, Gia is helping her friend Savannah plan and prepare for her Christmas wedding.
One of the final things to do is the cake testing to make the final decision, unfortunately a woman dies during the tasting.
There are many suspects, but will this be able to be solved in time?
Cute series I'll be reading more of.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
Cute and cozy. This was my first book in the All Day Breakfast Café series by Lena Gregory. The book includes a character directory in the beginning, which was very helpful, as this has a cast of small town characters!
This book is plentiful on cozy, cafe aesthetics with a Christmas feel as Gia assists in planning her best friend Savannah's Christmas Day wedding. If only there wasn't a murder during their cake testing! What are two nosy neighbors to do? Gia and Savannah can't resist trying to solve this case on their own.
A satisfying, easy read!
The All Day Breakfast Cafe series is one of my very favorites, and this book did not disappoint. Gia and Savannah are in the final preparations of Savannah's wedding. The tasting with the caterer is interrupted by an arguing trio - a bride, her son, and her husband to be. When the fussy bride is found murdered, they add "solve a mystery" to their to do list. The suspects are many, and time is running out to solve the mystery or be out a caterer for the wedding. It is a fun, slightly romantic holiday themed book.
Gia is living in Florida and has never spent a christmas there. Her friends show her how to celebrate.
Her holiday is busy with a wedding and the festivities of the community,
At a cake tasting for her friends wedding they overhear a mother/daughter arguing about the husband to be. When the mother tastes her cake she falls over dead.
The murder must be solved.
This is book 6 in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe cozy series. You could read this as a stand alone. I've missed a couple and had no problems getting caught up in Gia's life. She about to enjoy Christmas in Florida and it's certainly different than the NY December's she's used to. Gia's friend Savannah's wedding is soon and when they visit the caterer for a final cake decision they witness a woman dying after sampling a dish. With the caterer the prime suspect, Gia and Savannah must solve the crime if they want the wedding to go on. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Savannah is getting ready to marry the love of her life, Leo. While her and Gia, her best friend, are at the cake tasting, someone screams, and another bride to be collapses, only to die a few minutes later. With a lot of suspects circling around and a lot of people pointing fingers in many directions, Leo and Hunt may actually need Savannah and Gia's meddling to help solve the murder in time for the wedding! Fantastic
This is the sixth book in the all day breakfast cafe mystery series. I have enjoyed each book in the series.
Gias good friend, Trevor Barnes, has gone all out decorating his home for the Christmas Eve wedding of Gia’s best friend Savannah Mills. Gia and Savanah are finishing up all the details for the nuptials and that includes the final tasting with the caterer. When they arrive they overhear another bride embroiled in an argument with her son. He is definitely not on board with her getting married. A short time later Gia and Savannah hear a bloodcurdling scream. When they rush to see what is happening they find the other bride dead after sampling a piece of wedding cake. The cake was beautifully decorated with fondant mistletoe and berries and the same cake Gia and Savannah had just sampled too. Savannah loved it so much she wanted to switch the cake she had chosen with this mistletoe cake.
Gia and Savannah are clearly alive and well as were all the other people that had a piece of the deadly cake. It is also clear that the bride’s slice of cake contained some type of poison. Of course, the caterers are the number one suspects but Gia just can’t wrap her head around them killing one of their customers. She also wants to be sure Savannah’s big night is marvelous and merry so she is going to be sure this murder investigation is wrapped up before Savannah walks down the aisle.
Gia Morelli, owner of the All-Day Breakfast Cafe, has her hands full for the holiday season - besides the cafe, Mia is the Maid of Honor for her BFF Savannah, who is getting married in a few days. While Mia and Savannah are waiting for the final tasting at the caterer's, they are witness to a violent argument between a mother(bride) and son and when the mother collapses suddenly a short time later, Mia and Savannah are catapulted into the situation performing CPR. It turns out that the cake sample the bride had eaten was poisoned. learning later that the woman didn't survive, Gia and Savannah decide to try to find out why the woman was poisoned and by whom.
I absolutely love the friendship between Gia and Savannah and how they can just about read each other's thoughts. Neither is afraid to help the other if the occasion calls for it and they share that generosity with ours as well. A fun mystery, good characters, good writing.
Another fun cosy mystery with a Christmas theme, perfect for this time of year.
The characters are great, the murder and investigations and storyline are quirky and fun, there is humour in there along with a bit of suspense and it is a book that can be read quite quickly and easily which is great. I love reading this type of book between more heavy duty books as it lightens the mood yet is interesting and entertaining.
And anything that includes recipes always catches my attention too.
But now I have to go and find the other books in this series as I have not yet read any of them.
This was better than the other ones but still not the series for me. There was too much repetition, too many times when Gia is lost in thought and almost burns something, too many "no, I love you more" moments between her and Savannah. The story was long, it dragged, it was more relationship than mystery, and I still can't figure out why the police department would want to date women who have no faith in their ability to solve a crime, just swoop in and save them.
Mistletoe Cake Murder is book six in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery series. by Lena Gregory. It can be read as a standalone,
This is a fun, quick read, Cozy. You get plenty of plot twists and suspects. The characters are likeable. There is friendship, humor, romance and a wedding. This is everything a great Cozy needs.
I was given an ARC by Lyrical Press via NetGalley for an honest review.
Getting ready for her best friend's wedding and Christmas with no family is hard enough for Gia, and then there's a murder. With the cake shop closed for the investigation, Gia finds an alternative location, determined not only to find the killer, but to ensure Savannah's fairy tale wedding. Savannah and Gia both help with the investigation, especially after a second murder, not totally supported by Hunt and Leo, both police in Boggy Station. Adding to the confusion, is the presence of ecology-minded people who disagree with decisions being made in the town. That adds to the list of suspects, along with someone trying to break into the cafe.
Like Gia and Savannah, as I read this, I came to appreciate the small town of Boggy Station and the close knit friendships of Gia and her friends. The story moves at a good pace, with tension, twists, and turns. The characters are wonderful, with a few exceptions, and the mystery unfolds to a logical conclusion and HEA wedding for Savannah and Leo. It is the 6th in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Of course, then, like me, you might need to go back and read the earlier ones.
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in the hopes that I would post an honest review. This has not affected the content of my review in any way.
This is a series that I've come to look forward to each new book. Gia and Savannah seem like friends to me and I love their relationship. The mystery is top notch with just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. I can't wait for the next trip to Boggy Creek and the All Day Breakfast Café.
Princess Fuzzypants here: When Gia and Savannah are at the caterer sampling the fare for Savannah’s upcoming wedding, the last thing they expect to encounter is the death of another bride who is also sampling menus. It seems the wedding cake was poisoned but not nearly as much as the relationships between the bride to be, her son and her fiancé. The Savannah’s groom and best man are both knee deep in the investigation into the murder and there is enough vitriol to go around. The groom of the deceased has a track record of sudden death in his multiple marriages and the deceased’s family dynamic is decidedly toxic. So who was the intended victim and who did it?
Partly by intent and partly by accident Gia and Savannah are drawn into the mystery. After all, the guests at Savannah’s nuptials will be nibbling on the food provided by the caterer. Sometimes these two come perilously close to qualifying for a Darwin Award but this time, even though they do get into trouble, they have not been overly foolhardy.
The relationships in this series are a delight. The friendships between Gia and Savannah and their various friends and employees is lovely. The fact that their beaux work together solving crime makes for an interesting twist and the foursome are fun to read. There is enough muddle that the real killer is a surprise as is the depth of the villainy. It was an entertaining read that made me yearn for more. Just not a mistletoe cake.
Five purrs and two paws up.
This is such a fun series, and I had a great time with this cozy mystery. I loved the plot, the twists and turns, and the characters!
I enjoyed this book. It featured a breakfast cafe owner who, along with her best friend, tried to revive a bride-to-be at a wedding caterer's business after she collapsed. It had endearing characters and plenty of suspense. I highly recommend this book to other cozy mystery readers.
Mistletoe Cake Murder is the 6th book in the All-Day Breakfast Cafe Mystery series.
Gia Morelli runs the 'All-Day Breakfast Café', a diner in Boggy Creek, Florida. With just a few days until her best friend, property and estate agent, Savannah Mills's Christmas wedding, Gia and Savannah witness the death of another bride-to-be.
Mistletoe Cake Murder was my 3rd in this series as I dived in late at book four in A Waffle Lot of Murder. I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events and it worked for me as an individual story. Gia and Savannah have a brilliant friendship and protagonist Gia is a great character who I find to be instinctive and keen. The great cast of characters, including the hilarious townsfolk, and strong friendship bonds, help to zhoosh up this winter cozy as does Thor, Gia's Bernese Mountain Dog. I was sold on this compulsive story from the very beginning, and Lena Gregory once again really impressed me with her fluid writing. The details of the plot were very well-executed, the story was amusing and easy to follow, and every chapter left me with a compelling need to read on. The story was scattered with scrumptious food references and clues were sprinkled throughout. This was an amazingly good cozy and I really hope this series continues. If you adore a great cozy mystery, don't miss out on Mistletoe Cake Murder!
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my own request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
