I’m a sucker for historical fiction and love stories so to get one novel yielding two love stories I was in my element!

I shed a tear or two reading this great story and fully recommend this. Top marks from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"No one can tell me who to love or hate."

'The Bookseller of Dachau' is a heart wrenching novel, told using duel narrative, of Matilda, who waits for her best friend and lover to return from Dachau concentration camp, and Grace, her long-lost grandchild who's reading her story for the first time.

Matilda's chapters were completely beautiful. The way Ryan presents loss and pain felt so achingly real, and- much like Grace- I felt left in suspense and desperate to hear the rest of hers and Hans' love story.

Grace's chapters, however, fell slightly short for me, especially in comparison to Matilda's. I found her character slightly annoying in her ignorance, but I do think that's partly a personal issue, due to my own extensive knowledge.

Overall though, this was a completely beautiful novel, of reconnection and love in the face of hatred, and I loved it.

I love historical fiction with dual narratives and dual timelines and this was no exception, it is a beautoful novel about one of the darkest periods of history and i couldnt out it down even when i thought my heart would burst out of my chest and i had tears pouring down my face. I will think about this book for a long time

Pass me the tissues, wow what a story. I devoured this book in one sitting, not one but two love stories. I loved everything about this book, the writing, the characters, the story.. Absolutely fantastic. Will be recommending this to everyone.
