The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason is the fourth book in the contemporary romance Highland Falls series. As with a lot of contemporary romance series the setting is the common theme in the Highland Falls series with the main characters changing in each book. With new characters each novel they all can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so.

The residents of Highland Falls are going all out trying to win the Most Romantic Small Town in America contest. Elliana MacLeod has agreed to pitch in and renovate her Grandpa Joe’s family Inn all the while trying to stop her mother from selling it out from under Grandpa Joe.

Nathan Black is a law enforcement officer who is briefly staying at the inn that Ellie has always had a crush on but freely admits he is not the relationship type. Nate has agreed to help out with the work at the inn while he is there and Ellie is doing her best to forget about any type of relationship with him but it’s certainly not easy with the attraction between them.

First, I must admit I have never read any of the other books in the Highland Falls series so when I say they read well as a standalone I know that first hand. I have however read Debbie Mason before so I wasn’t surprised to find myself falling easily into The Inn on Mirror Lake and loving the characters and setting. There was a lot going on in the story which only made the pages turn faster and after finishing this fourth book in the series I’d love to go back to the others or read any more coming to the series.

This story had me feeling so many emotions. Filled with family drama, secrets, friendships, some humor, romance, surprises and suspense, along with a plot twist that you won't see coming. Ellie is trying to save her grandpa's Inn and surprisingly, she and Nate find a way to hopefully make that happen. Her mother is trying to sell the Inn since her grandpa has some health issues. Something just seems suspicious about her mom. Even if you haven't read the previous books in the series, the author does a great job of introducing all the characters and what has happened earlier. Another great story from Debbie Mason that held my attention from the very beginning.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is book #4 in the Highland Falls Series. This is Ellie & Nate’s story and is sweet yet suspenseful.
Ellie is trying to fix up the Inn and help her Grandfather so he doesn’t have to sell it . Her mother and sister keep trying to push for the sale but Ellie is determined to keep it in the family.
Nate isn’t really the relationship type and he is busy trying to avenge his friend’s death. He is thrown into a fake relationship with Ellie to help save the inn but soon discovers they have a real connection.
Debbie Mason always has cute/suspenseful books to keep us hooked. Thank you Netgalley and publisher for an arc for my opinion.

So many of Debbie Mason's books have hit my keeper list she's going to need her own designated shelf. She keeps getting better and better with every book she writes. I want to be friends with her characters and spend time in her fictional communities. Highland Falls now lives rent free in my mind, along with all her citizens. Hopefully, Mason intends to make this a long-running series because I am nowhere near ready to say good-bye to these characters.

In The Inn on Mirror Lake, Mason skillfully blends the humor, emotion, suspense, and feel-good romance that have been a trademark of this series. There's plenty of flirtatious fun between Nate and Ellie, along with snappy banter and sizzle but Mason skillfully balances that with complex layers that explore the emotional baggage both carry. I love the marshmallow center Nate hides beneath his tough exterior (except with his five older sisters and five nieces - what fun those scenes are!) and the bad-ass (don't mess with my loved ones) core of steel inside Ellie. I also love the fact that these are two experienced adults who come together as equals and know what they want. Well...Nate thinks he knows.

The quirky senior citizens of Highland Falls are once again front and center and living up to their meddling, matchmaking reputations. I very much enjoyed Ellie's maternal grandfather and the judge. Their relationship with Ellie is endearing, protective, and at times, hilarious. And, of course, Ellie's paternal grandmother is up to her tricks, as usual. Her special relationship with Nate continues from the previous book and is just so much fun. And then there are the couples from the first three books, family and friends, matchmakers in their own right, who seamlessly flow in and out of the story, adding humor, poignant emotion, and help keep the progression of Nate and Ellie's journey flowing. There are other key characters who also bring additional richness and depth to this story, and notched a place for themselves in my heart, but I'll leave you the joy of discovering them on your own.

This is a series that I feel is best enjoyed by reading the books in order. However, if you don't wish to do that I would recommend at least reading book three, Falling in Love on Willow Creek, where the individual journeys of Nate and Ellie begin, before reading The Inn on Mirror Lake. Regardless of where you begin, Debbie Mason's stories - and characters - are sure to tickle your funny bone, touch your heart, and leave you begging for more.

CW: While much of this story is lighthearted and fun, there are also deeply emotional topics that are introduced, including grief, mental abuse, and physical abuse that could be distressing to some readers.

This is another fun A Highland Falls Novel. Ellie came to town last summer to help her grandfather after he had a stroke. Nate originally came to the area in the previous book, “Falling in Love on Willow Creek”, to find his friend Brodie, which turned into a murder investigation. He was partnered with Chase who fell in love with Sadie, Ellie’s cousin. Ellie and Nate danced at Sadie and Chase’s wedding and then did not see each other again until the start of this book.

I love how the stories are weaved together through the series and the depth of the characters and setting. Ellie is trying to figure out why her mother is trying to convince her grandfather to sell the inn that has been in the family for multiple generations. Nate is trying to track down who is above the people who murdered Brodie. This is going on at the same time as the town is a finalist in a contest for most romantic town in America. Dive right in to find out how this all works out.

I received a free copy of this book to review through NetGalley and thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book has definitely small town vibes. Ellie is psychic though not many people know. Her and Nate fake date to impress her family. Nate doesn’t do relationships but ends up staying at the inn with Ellie when he is charged with watching his late friends son. Nate and Ellie grow closer as they start to fit the pieces together of ehy her mother is trying to sell her grandfathers in.

This story is filled with love and intrigue and I would highly recommend. I loved Ellie and Nate. She is a definite bad ass

This is the fourth book in the Highland Falls series, and I think the series keeps getting better and better.

Ellie has moved back to Highland Falls to help her grandfather run The Inn on Mirror Lake, which has been in their family for a long time. Her grandfather had a stroke, and while he loves the inn and wants to live there for the rest of his life, he isn’t able to handle it on his own. As for Ellie, a breakup right before her wedding means this is a perfect time to leave town.

I loved Ellie and Nate’s relationship and it’s progress. They met at a wedding last year but Nate’s job took him away before they could see if they had a future. When they meet again after Ellie’s grandma orchestrates a fake relationship to keep her mother off balance, sparks start to fly.

This is a book of family drama, family support, loyalty to others and love. Ends are tied up, old feuds settled and secrets brought to light. Highly recommend.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

The Inn on Mirror Lake is another heartwarming story by Debbie Mason. All the feels of a great book are there when you add in secrets of the past, family drama, a troubled teen, and of course, romance. Ellie and Nate are the primary characters in this book but we have the enjoyment of revisiting friends from the previous books within the Highland Falls series . I had a hard time putting this book down! I highly recommend it!

Debbie Mason has written the fourth book in The Highland Series. The Inn on Mirror Lake is it and it will not disappoint! This is a heartwarming story that has a little bit of everything! It has romance, mystery, family drama, secrets and suspense that will keep you reading way past your bedtime. There is so much going on in this book it will grab you at page one and won’t let go until the very last page. The characters are so real you will feel part of the story. It is an encouraging storyline that will even tug a little at your heartstrings……have the tissues nearby. Mason has a way of keeping the storyline together and surprise you with the ending. I have read this one as a stand alone but Mason’s books are so good I will go back to read the others. It is a very enjoyable read!

Thank you NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing and Debbie Mason for an advanced copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review.

I love this story. Highland Falls has a lot going on and Ellie and Nate are right in the middle of things. It was fun to read what I consider their story. There are lots of feels in this story, and some laughter and some tears. The story moves along well and the characters are awesome. I can’t really pick a favorite. I hope I get to go back and visit with them again soon. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Ellianna MacLeod is trying to fix up the Inn on Mirror Lake. This is Grampa Joe's home and Ellianna's mother wants to sell it out from under him. Nathan Black is in town offers to help Ellianna with some of the updates. Nate has been working undercover for NC state police. He doesn't feel like he is good husband material, but he is attracted to Ellie.
The more Ellie's mother and brother-in-law push to sell the Inn the more it becomes suspected as illegal. Ellie's sister seems to be in trouble and want let Ellie help her.
Alot of twist and turns in this story. Ellie can actually read people's minds, but her mother has always told her is a mental case.
Great Read. I love The Highland Falls series.

When I saw that Debbie Mason had a new book out I just couldn't wait to get it. I knew that it would be awesome because I have never read a book of hers that wasn't.

Well Let me tell you this, I wasn't disappointed. Once you start reading til the end you will be hooked. She can weave a story that takes you through all kinds of emotions and you just won't be able to stop until the end of the book.

What are you waiting for, you won't want to miss this one.

If you follow me you know how much I love reading Debbie Mason. Her books are so well written with characters that you love and some you totally hate. Or think you do. But every once in a while she gives you a book in a series that totally rocks. It's just the best one in the series. I didn't think that would happen again in the Highland Falls series since I totally loved the first book. But I have to tell you this one overshadowed it.

To be honest I'm not sure why this one is that much better for me. I think it has to do with how the characters came together and the humor in this one just hit my funny bone. More than once I found myself laughing out loud.

I totally love Elliana and Nate. They are just perfect for each other.

Loved Nate since he showed up. You just never knew what he was doing. I will tell you that his need to get the people who killed his friend are both upstanding and too much at times. He just never stopped no matter what it did to his life. There were times that I found myself yelling at the book like he'd hear me. I will say that loyalty is one of the things I like about him. You don't really think it when you first meet him. He hides a lot of his feelings behind a mask. Once you start to learn about him you see how human he is.

Elliana's life is heartbreaking. Thankfully she had her grandparents to be there for her. The way her mother treated her is horrible. She didn't deserve it at all. It seemed like her whole family acted badly towards her. Since her brother wasn't in the story much more than on the phone you don't get a good bead on him, but her sister did whatever her mother wanted. It's seemed like the only ones there for her were the Highland Falls family.

I could go on about how I felt about it but let's move on to the story itself. It moves very well and I liked how Nate was made to take care of his dead buddies kid for a while. He needed that. At no time does the story drag so you'll feel like you're on a race to the end even though you didn't want it to do just that. I'm very much looking forward to the next book in the series. From what we got about it in this one it's going to be so good.

I think you'll find so much about this book that you'll love. The characters really make it. They bring humor, happiness, and love to this story. There is a bunch of surprises in this story too. You'll love how it all ties up and what happens with everyone. It's a great story all around. If you haven't yet started this series then you need to get to it. Start in the beginning because you'll love that book too.

This is a great book. The two main characters are Elle and Nate. Elle is running her grandfather’s inn and Nate is an undercover agent. Elle needs a fake boyfriend to throw her mother off. Elle’s mother is trying to sell her grandfather’s inn to a developer. Elle and her grandfather do not want to sell. Between gangsters, abuse from a husband (Elle’s sister), her sister’s real father, Nate’s sisters melding, and the town trying to get a film crew to pick their town to make a movie. Elle and Nate fall in love.

If the beautiful cover does not draw you in, the story certainly will. The characters are all amazing, love Nate and Ellie's love story. I also liked the suspense and drama throughout the read and the fun renovations going on at the Inn. The book is full of love and family, it's a page turner for the romantic at heart!

Loved it. I need to read the first three books. Debbie Mason's writing style flows keeping me glued to the pages. An engaging and emotional family tale which does include a fun romance. Not a fan of woo-woo, but so glad I didn't allow that to keep me from reading the story. Very small part.

I enjoyed The Inn on Mirror Lake so much. Ellie and Nate are quickly thrown into a pretend relationship when he poses as her boyfriend to intimidate her meddling family from trying to put her grandfather into a home and sell the inn that’s been in Ellie’s family for generations. I really connected with the characters. Grandpa Joe stole my heart form the beginning of the book and I was immediately rooting for he and Ellie to save the inn. Nate offers to help fix the place up--he's not a relationship guy, but he''s quite taken with Ellie. They complement each other so well and make a great couple. I definitely want to go back and read more of the Highland Falls series now that I know this is the 4th book in the series. The Inn on Mirror Lake has it all—mystery, romance, family secrets, and a gorgeous cover too. It was such a sweet escape!

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed Nate & Ellie's story. It was wonderful to return to Highland Falls & reconnect w/characters that we met in previous books, as well as meet new characters. This story had not only romance, but also suspense! Debbie Mason creates such believable plots, that I got sucked right in and couldn't put the book down until I read to the end! Secrets were revealed that may change the whole dynamic of a family. Happy ending? Read "The Inn on Mirror Lake" and find out!!
