THE INN ON MIRROR LAKE is my favorite story in the Highland Falls Series!
Nate is a someone we met in FALLING IN LOVE ON WILLOW CREEK. He is a tough guy, who doesn't see himself as someone who will ever settle down. Ellie also made an appearance in the last story, and spent time with Nate, but knew "forever" wasn't in his plans. She comes to the Inn to help her Grandfather, and sparks fly! Along the way, we meet Ryder, who is a kid that grabs the heart, Toby, a big lovable dog, and a cast of new and old friends that make reading Debbie's work such a treat. This story has suspense, romance, and so many twists and turns, it will keep you on the edge of your seat! The combination of story line and characters, make this book a real winner. I am grateful to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
The next book in the Highland Falls series does not disappoint. This is the story of a developing romance between Elliana and Nate but also Elliana’s determination to renovate the inn for her grandfather. He is determined to stay against the wishes of Elliana’s mother to sell, but what is her motive.
What a wonderful read! I have loved all of Debbie Mason's books, but this may now be my favorite. The story was engaging from the first page, I couldn't put it down. The characters are great, love the story of Ellie and Nate. Story had love, mystery, action, and family. It is the fourth book in the series, but would be enjoyable as a standalone.

I am such a fan of Debbie Mason's books. This one did not disappoint either. I love that they are sweet, clean love stories with suspense and mystery as an added bonus. Nate is not a rule follower and as an undercover officer he tends to make his own rules. Elli has her hands full trying to take care of her Grandpa Joe who recently suffered a stroke as well as fix up Mirror Lake Inn. Elli's mother is determined to sell the inn and put Joe in a home. Elli must find the strength to save the inn and fight her mother. Ellie soon realizes, via her psychic abilities, that there is more to her mother's story. Nate agrees to a "fake" relationship because Elli needs someone in her corner. Nate isn't psychic but his cop instincts also kick in where Elli's mother and brother-in-law are concerned. He soon realizes there is more to sweet Elli than just a pretty face. This is a page-turner. You want to see how it ends but it's so good you don't want it to end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
This book is so good! Every time I picked up "The Inn on Mirror Lake", I went on such an emotional journey with this story that is full of romance, heartfelt moments, mystery, conflict, and so much more.
Firstly, this cover is absolutely stunning! And the puppy is so cute and beautiful! Oh my goodness!
This is the fourth book in Debbie Mason's "Highland Falls" series, but the first I have read. I so look forward to going back and reading the first three novels. Ms. Mason's writing style is visceral, full of heart, and she truly knows how to make a story jump right off of the page before the reader's eyes. Each character in this book feels like a real person, and I found myself reading chapter after chapter to see what was going to happen next.
(Possible Spoilers!)
Ellie and Nate make such an amazing couple. Though the two are very different in a lot of ways, they truly bring out the best in one another, understand each other. Both are so caring and loving, and I hope we see them again in future books!
If you enjoy contemporary romance, I highly recommend this book! I found it so difficult to put down, and I look forward to reading what Ms. Mason writes next.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This family puts the fun in dysfunctional. Ellie is helping Grandpa with his inn after an illness, and her mom (Grandpa's daughter) wants to put him in a home and sell the inn. Ellie's dad is a wimp, and her brother and sister have other stuff to do. Hunky Nate is in town after solving a case. He is not the marrying type, but he's taken with gorgeous Ellie who he knows is not a girl looking for casual.
Note - this is book four in the Highland Falls series. I have not read the others. Many of the characters are introduced there, and while it is obvious the reader has been dropped into the middle of a series, the supporting characters featured in the earlier novels are given sufficient detail here to make sense.
I enjoyed most of this book. But about 3/4 of the way through, three different storylines suddenly are related to each other, a couple of which definitely stretch the imagination.
Overall, it's a sweet story. Mostly family friendly, with some topics that may be too much for young readers and those that react badly to certain triggers.
Ellie MacLeod returned home to Mirror Lake Inn to renovate and keep her mom from selling it against the wishes of her grandfather. Nate Black offers to help her fix up the inn. She finds herself falling for him even though he will be leaving and has no desire for anything other friendship. As Ellie tries to keep her mother a bay, her friends step up to help with renovations and push Ellie and Nate together at every opportunity. When Ellie’s ex fiancé appears and wants her back, will Nate realize that he loves her and wants more.
Thanks to Debbie Mason and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the book
The Inn on Mirror Lake is the fourth book in the Highlands Falls series and it might be my favorite one! It’s full of mystery and romance, yet still keeps the small town charm and cozy feel that each of the other books provide. The main characters, Ellie and Nate, are relatable and engaging. I loved their romance and the dual point of view chapters! And, of course, there are plenty of antics by the meddling matchmakers. This book was a treat and I hope there are fir future books in the series!
I loved this book! If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Ellie is back at the Inn on Mirror Lake to keep her mother and brother-in-law from shipping her grandfather off to a home and selling the inn that has been in her family for generations. Grandpa Joe has his health issues, but he’s not senile and is more than capable of making his own decisions. And Ellie plans to stick around and help run the inn and watch over her grandpa.
As if she’s not busy enough trying to make some repairs and updates to the inn and some cabins, she’s also trying to help the town win the Most Romantic Small Town in America contest. She knows one of the judges personally, she finds herself extremely attracted to Nate, a guy she met years ago at her cousin’s wedding, there are issues between her and her family, she knows some secrets and has some of her own. There’s drama, intrigue, danger, and more. You might want to have some tissues nearby.
The Inn on Mirror Lake is book #4 in the Highland Falls series. It follows the story of Ellie and Nate, and has the wonderful cast of characters to add to this enjoyable fun filled romcom with drama and intrigue that is this series. I loved the way Debbie Mason gave this hard-edge Nate who has a soft center and Ellie who looks soft and delicate but has a backbone of steal and is not going to let her mother sell the Inn that has been in her family for generations and that her grandfather has now put her in charge of with a change in his will. And Nate is going to help her with this, as he I caught kissing her while her Granny looks on with glee, let them think that his biker dude has swept her away, and Ellie is all for except her heart doesn’t know it.
This book was delightful, witty and so filled with romance, I wanted to be at the Inn to watch these two totally opposite, but made for each other fall in love. And with Granny MacLeod and her Grandfather Joe and the whole town helping them, will they find that they can find a life together. Just when things look like they are going that way, an old love comes back into town to throw a curve in the road and her sister brings her a god to look after, her mother is determined to fight her with a secret she is keeping from Nate that could send him away forever. But when they dance to their song, the world comes together.
If you have not read any of the books in this series, then you will want to after you read this book. You will want to find out how the other three couples found love and a lifetime together.
Thank you, Debbie Mason, her publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this 5 Star advanced copy for my honest review.
Nate and Ellie first met at her cousin's wedding but their time together was interrupted by his job. Now, he's back and as Ellie faces off against her mother and brother in law , who are trying to sell the family inn, against the wishes of her grandfather.
Ellie has struggled her whole life with her psychic abilities. When she discovered a family secret as a teenager, her mother ostracized her for fear she'd share the information. This continues through current times.
Nate continue to struggle with the death of his friend Brodie, and although the murderers are captured, he wants to arrest the men at the helm of the drug ring responsible. An unusual relationship is uncovered.
There's a lot of romance with bits of suspense and mystery mixed in. Another great book in the series.
I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
The Inn on Mirror Lake by Debbie Mason is the fourth book in her Highland Falls series. What a fantastic read! This storyline has everything a great story should have, great characters, lots of action, great pacing and a keep-turning-the page feel. The characters are well-developed and the two main characters Ellie MacLeod and Nate Black are swoon-worthy as a couple. I really liked the strength of Ellie and the protectiveness of Nate. I haven't read any of the previous books in this series but I plan to since I really liked the characters from earlier who appear in this book.
Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. I have enjoyed this series and I think this has been my favourite book so far. While I thoroughly enjoyed the two main characters love story, I also loved all of the other sub plots. I love the relationship that Ryder has with Toby, the two old guys friendship, plus the bond they have with Ryder. The whole back plot with the sister was also a great draw into the story of the book. This book has all of the things you are looking for with some suspense, some mystery and a lot of romance finishing up with the all time favourite, happily ever after!! Great read, great book, great series!!
elliana returns home to prvent her mother from selling the family inn. Lots of interesting characters, if you like small town romance you will love this
It's a little frustrating when you are trying to save Grampa's Inn while he and every lady in town is trying to be a matchmaker with a hunky law enforcement/ handyman. On top of it all there is family that want Grampa to go into a home. Very enjoyable entertaining read.
Such a sweet, passionate and humorous tale of intrigue and family drama. This was the first book I have read in this series and while I think prior knowledge would have enhanced the story and background, I thoroughly enjoyed it still. The characters are genuine, fallible and supportive. I'll have to read the other books now, it is that good!
Love this series and author. This author has several different series and I enjoy each 1. If you haven't read them I highly recommend doing so.
The Inn on Mirror Lake follows, Ellie, who is helping her grandfather after he had a stroke. Ellie’s mom, sister and brother-in-law are pushing for Ellie’s grandfather to sell the Inn. Ellie is determined to help her grandfather keep the Inn since it means so much to him, and she is determined to find out the motivation behind her mom’s plans. She gets help from Nate, who is falling for her even though he doesn’t want to admit it. Along the way, some secrets are revealed and some deeper topics are also covered.
This was an enjoyable and charming read. I felt like I was right there at the Inn and everyone felt like my friend. This is part of a series and although a lot of things were explained, I still felt like there was a lot of backstory I was missing. I want to go back and read the rest of the series now.
The Inn on Mirror Lake is a great love story. I haven't read the other books in the series but there isn't anything that was missing in order to enjoy Ellie and Nate's journey
The characters staying at the Inn added a lot of fun and laughter. The ending was very satisfying and set up another couple to star in a new love story.

This is another great read by Debbie Mason. It doesn't disappoint. As the story opens you see family relationships at odds. The grandfather and Ellie are trying to save the inn while the Mother and brother on law are trying to sell the inn and put the Grandfather in a home. You can picture in your mind the inn, and the town and the characters in the story. When Hate gets involved everyone is trying to get them involve as a couple. Nate is very protective of Ellie but he keeps trying to say they ate just friends.
Will Ellie and Grandpa save the Inn. Will secrets come to light ? Will Brianna Ellie's sister finally admit what is wrong in her home life ? Will her Mom admit secrets that could destroy her family ?
Thank you to Net Valley for allowing me to read and review this great book.
