Monologues for Kids and Tweens II by Mike Kimmel is a great nonfiction book and I really enjoyed the original monologues. This is a great book for children and adults who are interested in theatre.
An awesome resource that I'm going to love to add to my classroom bookshelf. As a middle school drama teacher, I am always on the search for the good monologues and scenes for class use. I think my students will love skimming through Monologues for Kids and Tween II, by Mike Kimmel to find the just-right piece!
Thanks to NetGalley and Ben Rose Creative Arts for the e-ARC. This review has been given freely and is completely honest.
This book is a great tool for the younger kids. The monologues are well written and well thought out. There aren’t any monologues from shows, these are totally original. Great resource for students, teachers and theatre kids! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This book has some nice monologues. However, none of them are from published/established plays.
The monologues in this book are written by Mike Kimmel - not just compiled by Kimmel, which is what I originally thought.
Because these books are not by published plays I am not able to use these for any of my courses that I teach - they are nice monologues but not fit for purpose for me (and probably a lot of other theatre practitioners too, where awarding bodies state monologues need to be from published plays)
