First book ever I’ve read from this author. Not my usual kind of reading, but go ahead and give this a try if you are following the Dark Protectors series, you are a fan of the author or if you are into shifters, vampires, demons and hybrids.
The book is about Dr, Honor McDovall and Sam Kyllwood, her gift and his curse. There’s enough action and romance and sex and betrayal to entertain you. Is fast-paced and easy to read.
I love this series. Well, I love all this author's work. Sam and Honor may be my new favorite couple but don't make me chose. Honor is an enhanced female, super enhanced, that is able to enter another's mind and figure out their truths. Sam is going through some things. Mainly, he is starting fires without meaning to do so. When they meet, it is explosive! Honor is quite the match for Sam. I also enjoyed how well she fit in with the shifters. Honor was valuable not only through her enhanced gifts but also with her education as a psychologist. I loved that Sam was supportive and proud of her.
What a fab series. Sadly I was late to this series and missed the first few, it hasn’t taken away from my understanding though, although be warned, it does get a little complicated. Written in multiple POVs, but mainly just concentrating on our main characters - vampire-demon Sam Kyllwood, and enhanced human, Honor McDovall, who during the first few chapters is unaware of the supernatural world she lives in. Whilst under attack from the Seven’s mortal enemies, Sam kidnaps Honor (for her own safety), and they take refuge with the Bears, a group of shifters, and a fearless MC group who are a law unto their own. If Sam thinks hiding out with the Bears will give them safety and protection he’s sorely mistaken. Lots of action, drama, supernatural battles and alpha males. I loved it, and I love reading the continuing back story with the younger generation, I can’t wait, for it all to unravel, I’m guessing it won’t be anytime soon. Meanwhile I’ll wait patiently for book 15.
I've been waiting for Sam's book for a while now, and it certainly did not disappoint....After all these years, this series is still one of my favorites and I have no idea how Rebecca manages to make each one better than the last.
I'm very thankful for the opportunity to read this advanced copy. It made the book slump I'd been it, come to an end!!
This is Sam and Honors book, and I loved gping back and spending more time with the Grizzlies too. The story of the 7 is coming to its conclusion soon and I cannot wait for Garrett's book next and then of course Hope's. I think all of us that are invested in this series are looking forward to Hope and Paxton's story!!
Another 5 star read from a fan for life!!!
A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is part of a series, and while I thought it read fine as a stand alone, others may get confused if previous books have not been read. This is Dr. Honor McDoval and Garrett Kayvs's story. I love this series, and this did not let me down. I enjoyed the cameo that Roscoe made!! LOL Honor took the entire other species extremely well, and in my opinion was a trooper. This is a wild ride but utterly enjoyable and I am always sad when they end. I have to say (and I will be in the minority here) that I really don't like any of Hope's male friends. Sorry...Anyway, for me this is a 4 star. I think most paranormal romance readers will enjoy.
I've really enjoyed every Rebecca Zanetti novel I've read, and Immortal's Honor is no exception. However, if you haven't read any of her previous Dark Protector novels, you might be pretty lost by the the larger storyline that threads the novels together. Fortunately, I read the two previous novels earlier this year, so that helped me along quite a bit. That said, I'd forgotten a lot and had some catching up to do.
The 14th in her Dark Protector series, this novel follows vampire-demon hybrid Sam Kyllwood as he finally finds his mate in Honor McDovall. At least, he thinks she's his mate, but his mate marking refuses to show up. Honor is new to this whole immortal business. She's an Enhanced human female who has the unique ability to enter people's brains and get to the core of what they really believe. In short, she's an extremely powerful Enhanced female, and that makes her a target for the bad guys. As the Keeper, the immortal who will play a very important role in an upcoming ritual, Sam is also a target.
The two spend their courtship in a cabin in grizzly shifter territory, where Sam and his cousin Garrett (himself one of the Seven and another target) have joined the grizzlies' motorcycle club. Their time there is not boring, with the occasional ride, shopping trip, or bloody attack.
As usual, Zanetti writes delicious characters that you can't help but root for. She also has a brilliant sense of humor, and the interactions between Sam, Honor, Garrett, and several enormous grizzly shifters are super fun.
Again, while you can read this novel on a surface level and really enjoy it, you would be better served by reading at least some of the previous novels. As for me, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. (Yay, Garrett!)
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
I love all of Rebecca Zanetti's books and this was no exception! Honor was a hoot! and I loved, LOVED that she had a lot of spunk to her, and tried to escape him so many times. I love that Ms. Zanetti's books always have heroines that are strong and intelligent and multi layered women. To me that makes the love story a lot more interesting! I can't wait for Garretts book!
Sam belongs to a group call The Seven and he is considered the "keeper", a title he despises. Honor is a human lie detector who contracts out to the FBI and she is contacted to come in a profile their latest capture, Sam. Neither one of them get what they expect when they meet, she expects a cold psychopath who she will be able to read and tell what lies he is spewing and he thinks he is just biding his time till his team comes and take him home.
These two spark in a very good way, they have great chemistry and their story is so much fun. From the start Immortals Honor is funny, exciting, a lot of mystery and just an overall good story. I've read the prior books in this series but this is one of my top favorites. You do not need to read the ones before this story to understand it since they go over a lot of what has led up to this moment but if you want a great series this is one to pick up.
Gotta love these Immortals. Strong heroine and one yummy hybrid vampire/demon. Sam Kyllwood keeps setting things on fire and explosions follow. When he’s arrested for arson a specialist is called in to help break his story. When Honor meets up with Sam sparks fly, when he finds out she’s enhanced it’s his job to save her, even though she doesn’t want to be save. These books are never boring, and they are truly you can’t put them down books. I have read these books over and over they are just that good.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
Sam is an immortal being, the Keeper, a pawn in the fight against evil. Honor thinks she is a regular human: she meets Sam in a police room and tries to detect if he is telling the truth. But Sam knows she is The One and steals her away from the human word while he fights against evil overlords and works to Mate her. The war continues to take place and they both get caught up in it. Finally a large battle in won and Sam wins Honor.
The world building is thrilling and there are so many layers to it. It is at times vicious, sweet but sexy, and redemptive. It is dangerous yet alluring and is interesting watching Honor grow in her pores. All that said the book in also humorous. Although part of a series this could be read as a standalone or slide into the series. I would recommend this book to my patrons.
Was this book supposed to be as hilarious as I found it to be?
Immortal's Honor was Sam Kyllwood's story. Yeah, yeah. Honor was there too, but it was Sam who definitely stole the show.
As The Keeper, a title Sam absolutely hated, he and the Seven, the three keys and the lock were responsible for stopping the unstoppable. It seems that Ulric has only gotten more powerful, able to summon people to his prison world and do some pretty serious psychological (and eventually physical) damage.
And remember... not everyone wants to stop Ulric. The Kurjans believe he has served his time. You know, because killing 100 innocent women is an act you can find redemption for. The Cyst seem to be following their wayward general, Jaydon, who had his own plan — replicating the same ritual Ulric did so he could be just as untouchable. All of the 'bad guys' had their own agenda and it appeared that they all wanted to kill Sam.
Then there was Honor. This lady made me laugh so freaking much! From the moment she met Sam, she gave him a hard time. I think she was the first heroine that I've seen in this series who maimed her fated mate and basically left him for dead. How could I not find the humor in that? As an enhanced female, her power was at once powerful and mysterious. I'm still not sure exactly what she can do, but I know that what I've seen so far is amazing. That scene where she amplified the other enchanced women's powers... with her mind... such a unique touch!
It was pretty clear that the chemistry between these characters couldn't be denied, despite how hard they tried. I loved how everyone and their mama were pushing these two together. Shoot, I just loved seeing everyone up in the place. I enjoyed seeing how the shifter community had completely embraced Sam and Garrett, how devoted Bear and Nessa are to each other, how Flynn was such a great brother, how the truth has finally been shared with Sam's family... This book gave me everything!
There was plenty to love about this story and here at the end, I can't wait until the next book in this series. It's Garrett's turn!!

OMG OMG OMG !! Perhaps one of my favorite books so far in this series <3
In full bookish breakdown, this book was a blessing for me !! I am rarely disappointed by Rebecca Zanetti and this book is no exception : it is even a love at first read <3
What I particularly appreciated :
- the universe which is still developed with the different species, the different myths (I must admit that between the versions of the Kurjans, of the vampires, of the dragons now but also of the Seven, I would be curious to know what is the true =)) and especially all the evolution that the universe has known since the beginning of the series !
- the multiple plots that I adored =) The main plot of the book of course around Sam's "small problems" (slightly handicapping xD) but also the internal divisions among the Kurjans (I must admit that I adore having all these glimpses of the Kurjans !! My little weakness for the bad guys comes out =)) and of course the underlying plot of this second cycle around the famous prophecy and the Seven (and it is becoming more and more precise !! I can't wait to see what it will be like especially with Sam's new idea and the fact that now everyone is in the know =) And of course there are also all the shenanigans of the little group of Pax and his uncle and the Kurjans ... AHHHH <3)
- characters !! Absolute crush for Honor that I LOVE !! She is one of my favorite heroines in the series and it is she who is at the origin of this crush !! She enchanted me : she was smart, courageous (even kidnapped, she doesn't give up !!), badass (when she shot like a pro =D) and so much fun <3
- romance !! So much fun, so steamy and so passionate !! I loved seeing Honor and Sam turning around each other, looking for each other and falling in love ... <3
- small appearance of some characters from the Deep Ops series that I loved (and that I recommend this series SO MUCH <3)
Questions for the next books :
- I need Garrett's book so much now, especially with the excerpt at the end <3
- Hope Hope Hope ... Frankly, I think I'm shipping her with nobody xD Her suitors really take her for a fool and I really hope she will show them that she is the worthy daughter of her father and that she is going to kick their *ss (even if I must admit the kissing scenes were HOT <3)
- it's confirmed, I need a HEA for Vero =) I know I shouldn't like Kurjans but hey =)
In short, for fans of urban fantasy with steamy romances, I recommend the whole series but this book especially =D
PS: to the publisher and Netgalley, thank you so much for the ARC =D
Immortal's Honor (Dark Protectors, #14) by Rebecca Zanetti
Love, love, love the Dark Protectors ( I want one of my own). Five plus stars for this book, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Even if some questions are resolved we know there are many more and I can't wait. Sam Kyllwood (Vampire-Demon) discovers he is the keeper. Honor McDovall ( interrogator for Homeland Security) knows she has gifts but doesn't understand them. They are very strong H and h. There is angst, horror, violence, shifters, super naturals, so much evil, along with laughter, tears and lots of steam to get us to a HEA and leaves us anxious for more.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Romantic Great world building Page-turner Entertaining Witty Easy-to-read Happily Ever After Haunting Steamy Scary Action-packed Wonderful characters Unpredictable Tear-jerker
Sam Kyllwood has finally met his mate!
The middle Kyllwood brother has been the quiet one, the solid one, the peacekeeper. For years, Sam has silently protected the ones he loved, at all costs, without fanfare. But, Sam has been taking centre stage of late as uncontrolled flames and explosions keeping popping up in his vicinity.
That’s how he met Honor. The brilliant psychologist with a kick-ass Enhancement is perfect for him. So, where’s Sam’s mating mark? Sam and Honor’s story brings heaps of action, danger, excitement and humour! It’s the hottest, steamiest high-paced adventure! Rebecca Zanetti’s long term plot about the return of a millennium old enemy is coming to fruition and parallel storylines involving Garrett Kayrs and his niece Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood are also building momentum. It’s so entertaining! I totally enjoyed this book. No Dark Protectors fan should miss this!
(This is a sincere review of an ARC provided by Kensington via NetGalley).
Vampire/Demon Sam took care of his baby niece but didn't know or understand what that meant. Now he is losing control of his powers and creating a mess everywhere he goes. He sort of goes from kidnapping to being a team with Honor, a Homeland Security officer that has enhanced mental gifts.
I haven't read the previous books, so that meant that I had issues catching up with the story. Also, the end is not what I expected.
Sam and Honor are the next couple in this series and they are perfect for each other. Her gifts are hard to name but she knows how to use them to the extreme, especially when the chips are down. Sam isn't looking for a mate because he doesn't expect to have much of a future but meeting her changes that completely. The battle with the Kurjans is heating up and the younger generation is becoming an active part of it. I hope Flynn gets his own story at some point. Highly recommended.

Sam and Honor are one of those Dark Protector/7 couples that I absolutely love. Honor is so smart and take charge, she’s fortunately open minded to a degree, and she’s adventurous. And Sam, well Sam is smexy as all get out, it’s obvious he’s Zane’s younger brother, he’s so good at taking care of everyone else yet can’t take care of himself.
Now, I have to admit, the Keeper is a stupid name for Sam, I keep thinking about a certain other character in a very different series… but, he definitely is willing to keep everyone safe at any cost, so it works.
And their story, I wanted something big and adventurous for Sam, I wanted him to have something amazing, and Zanetti delivered. These two are so good together. I love how their story unfolds, and what else starts enfolding. Now I can’t wait for the next.
Another great book in Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors series. I have waited for what seems like forever for Sam's story and it was amazing. Sam and his mate, Honor, just pull you into their story page by page. Sam is so strong yet very different then his brothers and Honor is this amazingly strong woman with very powerful enhancements. This book was filled with adventure, drama, laugh out loud moments and some steamy sex scenes. You learn more about what is going to happen come the last book in the series, that you can't wait to read, but at the same time don't want it to end.
Honor has herself one heck of an Immortal, even if she really doesn’t want one. Sam is electrifying, protective and delicious. This is a great addition to the series. Lots of twists and turns, and lots of visits from others. I cannot wait for Garrett’s story.
Immortal's Honor is another steamy must read in the Immortal's Warrior series. My latest fictional man crush, Vampire-Demon Sam Kyllwood volunteered to be the keeper to protect his niece as a baby not knowing what it entailed. Meant to hold the dimensions together for the final circle ritual to take out the big bad enemy (read the whole series), Sam is losing control and setting fires while slipping into other dimensions. Using her enhanced mental gifts, Honor McDovall is working for Homeland Security to catch the bad guys who are starting fires. A small matter of kidnapping later, Sam and Honor go from enemies to steaming the pages up even as Honor keeps trying to escape. Honor quickly recognizes Sam as a standup guy and loses her heart to the most dangerous man she has ever met. Danger and lust make for a whirlwind romance as Honor and Sam fight for their happily every after. The author once again leaves the reader hanging as Hope Kyllwood's love triangle continues in the series overall arc. The characters are outstanding from our heroes to the supporting characters (love Bear, Nessa, and Garrett). Action packed and explosive (literally), the story is another addicting, wild ride that you cannot put down! My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
