Immortal’s Honor (Dark Protector #14). By Rebecca Zanetti. 2021. Lyrical Press (ARC eBook).
Sam Kyllwood and Honor McDoval take a wild and explosive ride in Immortal’s Honor. Sam has a lot going on: the vampire-demon hybrid, as a member of The Seven and the Keeper of a prophesied ritual, Sam is on the outs with The Realm. But he and his friend, Garrett Karys, have become patched members and honorary family of Bear McDunphy’s Grizzly Motorcycle Club. But now Sam is experiencing trouble with inter-dimensional phasing and catching himself and things on fire. The stakes for curing himself raise when he partially passes the abilities to Honor accidentally. Filled with the series-established action and steamy romance, Immortal’s Honor advances the future return of Ulric, the Kurjan’s imprisoned leader and reveals more of the true motives of two young Kurjan, Drake and Vero. Honor is a strong match for Sam and her acceptance into the MC full of bear-shifters is very amusing. I can’t wait for the next installment!
Fantastic! The characters in this book/series are amazing, and we get glimpses of some of our faves from the Dark Protectors… and MAYBE… a secret visit from another FAN FAVORITE (not going give that secret away here). The chemistry is flammable, the world-building is fantastic, the characters are loveable with independent voices and depth, and the storyline will have you flipping the pages so fast that your heart will sink when you get to the last page.
I really enjoyed this book. Vampire-Demon Sam Kyllwood is such a great characters and has met his match in the delightfully gifted Honor McDovall. Action, misdirection, danger and love Immortal’s Honor brings as this and more in its action driven story and wonderful support characters. I look forward to reading Garrett’s story next.
Immortal’s Honor is the 14th book in Zanetti’s Dark Protector series. I’ve been a diehard fan of this series since I first discovered it. While there are some books in the series that I like over others, I still have liked all the books. I honestly don’t think there is one book in this series that I did like.
Sam Kyllwood was introduced around book 5 or 6 (I could be wrong here). He’s always been a fascinating character and I am thrilled that we finally got his book. After his niece, Hope, was born the prophets of the Realm pulled Sam aside and told him that Hope was supposed to go through a ritual to become the Keeper. Hope would have died so Sam offered himself up. He doesn’t know what being the Keeper is all about, but he would do anything for his niece if it would save her life. The problems that arise after the ritual are problematic. Sam can’t stop blowing things up. Not because he wants to, but because he can’t stop himself. There is also being pulled into alternate dimensions which is causing a problem. Then he meets Honor McDovall.
Honor is called in by Homeland Security when Sam gets detained by the police after one of the explosions. She’s instantly attracted to Sam, but was properly horrified since he’s obviously a criminal. She’s one of the best investigators that Homeland has and it’s because of the gift that she barely acknowledges she has. She can tap into brain waves and get the truth out of anyone. Anyone but Sam that is. She can’t get a read on Sam, though she knows he is dangerous as all get out.
I loved Honor. She was so practical. When Sam kidnapped her, she took it in stride and didn’t stop trying to get away. I loved that about her. She did what I hope that I would do. She tried to escape. I’m so used to books where the heroine just accepts that they’re kidnapped and that’s that. Honor didn’t care how attracted she was to Sam. She thought he was a psychopath. It’s only when she is suddenly thrust into Sam’s world that she realizes how wrong she was about him. Somehow Sam gives Honor his curse of blowing things up. He doesn’t know how he did it nor does he know how he’s going to help her.
Sam and Honor were fire. This is one of my favorite installments of this series. I love how the arc of the story over the last few books has progressed. I’m really, really, really looking forward to Garrett’s book. It’s going to be amazing.
Rating: 4.25 out of 5.
I adore Rebecca Zanetti and I totally love the Dark Protectors series. Immortal's Honor is Book 14 and this series is still going strong (in my opinion).
Here we have Honor McDovall who is one of the best interrogators in Homeland Security and Vampire-Demon Sam Kyllwood. I enjoyed reading the banter between these two and I do admit that sometimes Honor infuriates me. She is a strong heroine and don't get me wrong, I do love strong heroines but sometimes they can be too headstrong. However, when Honor get with the programme all is good and I quit being infuriate with her. There are plenty of action and yes, we will see Hope who has grown up. The triangle thing going on between her, Pax and Drake are getting to be too hot! I cannot wait to see the progression of this story. War is looming and everyone is on the edge.
Thanks NetGalley for the copy, the review above is all my own.
Having read all of the previous books, I was thrilled with the turns that the series plot took in this installment. You can really feel things heating up. I enjoyed Sam and Honor’s story, I have to be honest and say I was more invested in the ongoing saga of Hope, Drake, and Pax. Their little love triangle has been building since childhood, and I honestly can’t decide which way I want it to go.
Immortal’s Honor by Rebecca Zanetti is the 14th!!!! instalment in her Dark Protectors’ series! Can you believe! I remember when I started reading the series long long time ago at some point I wondered what direction does she still have left to go into and … well, she gave us the ‘mysterious secret circle’ that took the ride off the charts and so here we are …
Immortal’s Honor is Sam Kyllwood’s story, he has always been in the background when it comes to the Kyllwood brothers so I could not wait to see what Rebecca aka the destiny has in store for him AND she gave him Honor McDovall, the best interrogator of Homeland Security … hmm … really? Well, Honor is not your garden variety interrogator; she has a gift AND when she meets Sam, let’s just say that it is a fortunate thing indeed that they both like to play with fire!
I loved how Rebecca’s different world collided, well, had some cameos in this story and how our little Hope and her friends have grown up and and and … there is so much in this story when on the surface you go in just expecting Sam’s story, you get much more and Rebecca leaves you craving for more and the war that we have known for a long time is coming, seems to be just around the corner so you better be prepared and take a deep breath while waiting for Garrett’s story!
Absolutely adored this addition to the Dark Protectors series. I wasn't sure Rebecca could sustain the storyline for as long as she has and keep it fresh and entertaining but she has and I cannot wait for the next book.
Lots of action, intrigue, sexual tension, explosions, and witty banter made for a great read that I couldn’t put down.
Sam and Honor meet when Sam finds himself in an interrogation room at Homeland Security with the intriguing Honor asking the questions. Sam is in hot water because he has recently started setting off explosions, a big no-no with the government. Presumably this new ability is linked to his role as Keeper of the place where the Seven is supposed to perform their ritual to rid the world of Ulric once and for all. Soon Honor finds herself tied to Sam trying to find a way to control his new pyrotechnic-ness.
On a sidenote, I want to say I love the titles of the books in this series, well, mostly the later ones dealing with the mysterious Seven.
Sam has always been a bit of a mystery up until now. We didn’t know much about him, other than he is Zane’s and Logan’s brother and he seems really sweet. But his world was thrown upside down when he took on the role of Keeper and developed scary new powers. And Sam continued to be sweet, but ultimately, he was just like the others of his kind, a possessive control freak. I have a bit of a love-hate feeling towards this character trait. Depends on how I feel on a specific day, I guess.
I loved that Honor had significant power and that she had the chance to use it in meaningful ways. Nessa and Bear played a big part of the story, and it was great seeing them again. Hope is a bit older now. She is very knowledgeable, but still quite naïve.
The plot thickened, or rather, it heated up, way up. We found out more about Ulric and the ritual and I loved seeing everyone work together. Even Dage and his brothers seemed a bit more open to the Seven. Only very slightly, mind you. There were more questions than answers left at the end. I’m definitely not stopping here.
This is a great series if you like paranormal and bigger-than-life characters. But I would recommend you read them in order. Things will make more sense that way.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Zanetti adds another fast paced, high octane book to the Dark Protectors series. Honor McDovall is looking forward to a nice vacation before starting her own business but first, she has one last case to consult on. She meets Sam Kyllwood, a suspect in a rash of unexplained fires/explosions. She quickly gets introduced to a world she never knew existed but offers so much explanation about her own secret power.
Sam Kyllwood will do anything and everything for his family. He also needs to have control over orchestrating everything. The fact he can't control being pulled into portals or making things explodes is really starting to wear on him. He can't hide out in Bear's motorcycle club forever, he's got more important things to worry about, like Garrett and his destructive path and his niece, Hope, who keeps popping up in the most unexpected places.
Together, Sam and Honor discover more about themselves and what they've been trying to suppress. There's always peril around the corner but being together is work the risk.

4.5 Hearts First, if you have not read Rebecca Zanetti.. WHAT? Get to it. She is quickly becoming the queen of PNR. Second, start with the first in the series because this is the 14th and there is just too much to this series to start in the middle. And third, the characters that Zanetti writes are hot, sexy and downright practically perfect.
Sam is a Demon Vampire who kidnaps Honor which slowly and hotly turns into more. They are meant for each other. And Zanetti makes her characters jump off the screen.
You will never regret starting this series and continuing right up to Immortal’s Honor.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This book might just be my favorite book in the series so far... and that's really saying something because I LOVE this entire series!! We didn't know a ton about Sam until this book, and let me tell you, he is one powerhouse of a man!! I love his character traits and how he will do anything for the people that he loves. He just pulled on my heartstrings!! Now, Honor... she is a serious force to be reckoned with and is 100% PERFECT for Sam. I know I've said this before in my reviews...I don't 'retell' the story because I don't like giving things away...I just like to give reviews about how the book made me feel. Let me tell you, this book has all the feels and more!! I love the Kyllwood brothers so much and Sam has jumped to the front of my favorites!! It doesn't matter if you read the book via eBook/print OR listen to it on Audible (yes, I read the book via Kindle then listened to it on Audible) you will LOVE this book as much as you love the entire Dark Protectors series. Without hesitation I would recommend you pick up this book and read it now because you won't regret it. Thank you to Rebecca Zanetti for sharing her gift with us because in my opinion she truly is a gifted writer and I'm always waiting (im)patiently for her next book!! I hope that every reader enjoys this book as much as I did.

This was so much fun!
I love our main couple, Sam and Honor individually and together. Their relationship was amazing. I loved their interactions from the beginning. I love how their relationship grew slowly but steady. The plot was fantastic. I love their intense chemistry, this was so much fun and how the paranormal shifting aspects were played out. I laughed so much during this series but especially with this book.
Although I feel you should read at least some of the previous books, I highly recommend this!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I CANNOT SAY THIS ENOUGH, BY FAR MY FAVORITE SERIES BY MS. ZANETTI!!!! I FREAKING LURRRRRRVVVEEEDDDD IT!!!!! In the next read, we have Sam and his mate Honor, though Honor is a bit skeptical about the whole immortal demon vampire thing she gets on board pretty quick after a few, shall I say, enterprising situations. I mean did she really think she could escape, from a Kyllwood, I mean, come on, Pfft. Lol After she realizes that she is working in a totally different realm, she understands the true danger, Sam Kyllwood! Lol. I really loved Sam in this one, he tried being honorable and doing the right thing by her, but once again true love proved the winner and those kurjans are getting on my last nerve. So much going on with Pax and the secret organization, plus Dake and Hope, just a lot going on that I cannot wait to see how it all turns out, not to mention that I DO NOT WANT THIS SERIES TO END! 5 STUPENDOUS, WONDROUS, TERRIFIC, AMAZING, AWESOME STARS****
***I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by Netgalley****
I really wanted to like this a whole lot more than I did because it has all the elements that I look for in good urban fantasy, but it might be a case of needing to have read the previous volumes to be able to follow the story. Because not only is Sam and Honor's story complex, the plot jumps around to several other characters and an overarching plot that I'm guessing is what ties the whole series together and I constantly didn't understand what was going on. So I guess I'm taking this opportunity to say that this is not a book that you can jump into without lots of prior knowledge.
The main story of Sam and Honor is action-packed and sexy. They're drawn to each other from the moment they meet and it quickly turns explosive. Theirs is a relationship that happens almost immediately because that's just the way immortal connections happen (or so we're told) and I do admit to missing the part of the story where they really get to know each other and the relationship truly develops. That said, they make a good couple and the action (both sexy and otherwise) is really well done. I can see how someone who followed the series from the beginning and knows who all the characters are will love this installment.
Happy thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the fun read!
I have been a huge fan of this series for years. I love the characters and the chance to see additional generations carry on the storyline. Although it's always familiar, the individual storylines are fresh and exciting. Intense alpha males and strong vibrant females, you can't help but become addicted.
Immortal’s Honor by Rebecca Zanetti
Dark Protectors #14
Another thrilling addition to a paranormal fantasy world with romance, intrigue, good vs evil, a final showdown being led up to and anybody’s guess how it will all turn out. I am eager to find out how it all turns out and wonder how many more books there will be before I know for sure!
What I liked:
* Sam: Vampire-Demon, the Keeper, middle son, mediator, dealing with a big issue, meets his mate in this book and has much to accomplish.
* Honor: enhanced female, dealing with unknown abilities, catches something, kidnapped, meets her mate in this book and is instrumental in thwarting one bad guy.
* Garrett: related to Sam, looking for his mate, a bit of a womanizer, has a purpose, being guarded by Sam
* Bear: leader of the Grizzlies, MC leader, shapeshifter, soon to be father, nice guy
* Nessa: Bear’s wife, pregnant, witch, interesting match for Bear
* Hope: young, of prophetic importance to some, loved by two young men that are enemies, related to more than one paranormal group – wat to find out what her fate is and who she ends up with.
* Honor’s abilities and how they were utilized in this story
* The romance of Sam and Honor and how they find their HEA
* Finding out a few more clues about the mythology of the series and how it might all knit together eventually
* That some bad guys were taken down
* Wondering if the characters I am beginning to like/dislike will change or become more the way I am seeing them over the series as it progresses…a couple have me scratching my head
* That the book ends complete but with a hint of what and who might be starring in the next book of the series.
What I didn’t like:
* The characters and situations I was meant not to like
* Having a feeling that some of the characters I used to like or had the potential to like…are becoming less likable as the story continues
* Not a dislike but a hope…that I find out how many books are planned for the series.
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I rad more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Lyrical Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
Main hero is a vampire who is blowing up a lot of buildings. He got noticed by humans, ends up in interrogation. And he ends up with main heroine with whom he feels attracted. And then she ends up being his captive.
Overall it was a good read.....
I loved this book. Absolutely one of the best in this series, my new favorite. Honor and Sam were so entertaining through out the story. The pages just sizzle. Such a good series.
Another great read by Zanetti and addition to the Dark Protectors series. I've been following this series for a while now and each book further adds to the suspense and world building with it's wild cast of characters and thrilling plotlines.
Sam and Honor were great characters to get to know better and I love Zanetti's ability to create complex, entertaining personalities. Sam and Honor's relationship felt genuine and realistic in its growth and development. I found many moments between the two (and their interactions with the rest of the characters) to be absolutely hilarious and I loved every minute.
Overall, a great read and fun 14th(!) book in the Dark Protectors series. This series continues to get better and better, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance.
