I have been waiting for Sam's book and it did not disappoint! I just knew he'd be as bada** as his brothers even though he has always been kind of in the background. This book gives us more details about what being The Keeper means and how Sam became The Keeper.
I found Honor's character interesting as well. Her power was very unique. Her and Sam of course have great chemistry and I enjoyed watching them navigate Sam's powers that were on the fritz.
This is definitely a must read if you like the Dark Protector series, especially for all you Bear lovers out there . It has a little bit of everything you'd want in a romance book: humor, action, romance, drama.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Rebecca Zanetti's PNR series is such a comfort food for me - it's actiony, steamy goodness that flows beautifully. The characters are sparkling and relatable and the overall progressing story gets more interesting with each book. This series is best enjoyed in order, because there is an underling plot that unravels with each book. In this installment, we have the demon hybrid, ancient Sam and physiologist human Honor, two of the least annoying heroes ever - they are both smart, rational and there are no silly misunderstandings to speak up, she also doesn't just give herself over, but rather makes a choice to be with Sam and although there's insta lust, they don't get together right away. So if you like PNR (with a little MC thrown in) and you want something that has both steam and action, this is the series for you. Highly recommend!
Not my favorite Dark Protectors novel, but it progresses the storyline and introduces new characters!
I was a little disappointed in Sam's story, to be honest - we've heard of him for so long I was expecting maybe a deeper look into him. This seemed quite surface. Even his feelings for Honour were mostly words, not actions. There wasn't the all-consuming, epic, melt-your-heart-AND-panties love that Ms Zanetti has written of before. Honor herself didn't really resonate with me, either. I felt detached from this storyline.
Also! I'm kind of not into the gross man-whoring that Garrett seems to be heading towards, because when his book comes I would like to be able to fall in love with him without all that to bias me against him. Sorry, that's selfish.
Anyhow, always going to be a fan of Ms Zanetti and particularly her DP series - looking forward to the next one!
Rebecca Zanetti has worked her Dark Protectors magic once again. Sam and Honor’s book is a wild ride that I couldn’t put down. I loved the exciting, interwoven plot, along with banter and lots and lots of heat.
Sam Kyllwood is a powerful vampire-demon hybrid who is the Keeper of a secret group of seven immortals who will eventually have to preform a deadly ritual to keep a villain from destroying everything. On top of that, he’s having some issues with randomly setting things on fire. When he meets psychologist Honor after he’s been held for questions regarding arson, they immediately connect. She doesn’t know she’s an enhanced female, but does know she has special abilities to see inside people’s brains and figure out if they are telling the truth.
When Sam touches her and accidentally passes along his fire abilities to her, he makes it his mission to protect her from the bad guys who are after him. And, kiss her if the need arises. He has some help from his nephew Garrett and from Bear, leader of the Grizzlies MC. Bear happens to be one of my favorite shifters ever, so it’s great to see him and his bad ass wife Nessa play a large role in this story. I also loved the surprise cameo from my favorite Deep Ops canine.
Sam and Honor are both tough characters that have no qualms about taking charge while caring for the people around them. And, while Honor is new to this paranormal world, she manages to take each revelation in stride.
Immortal’s Honor is part of the long running paranormal Dark Protectors series. It is definitely helpful to have read previous books, as they build on each other, but Zanetti does a good job of explaining the details to newcomers without slowing the story down for longtime readers. I’ve been a fan of this series for a long time, and I love seeing all the plot pieces come together. I’ve been waiting and waiting for Garrett’s story, and am so excited that his book is coming soon. In the meantime, don’t miss out on this exciting and steamy installment.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sam Kyllwood, whose brother, Logan, is one of the Seven his other one King Zane, volunteered several years before to the Keeper, part of a mystical circle along with his brother’s group who are destined to protect and defend the world of immortals against the Kurjins and the Cyst leaders. Ulric, the evil Kurjan spiritual head, is still locked up in another dimension; however, his release appears to be getting dangerously closer which will unleash a type of apocalypse on the supernatural world. Sam has begun having problems with fire bursting out of him, randomly burning things up seems to do with his roll as the Keeper. When he is brought in by the police for one of those suspicious fires, Sam meets someone who speaks to all of his senses, man and vampire hybrid. Sam and one of his immortal friends, Garrett, are currently part of a grizzly bear MC club because Garrett is looking for his fated mate based on some dreams of where he might find her.
Honor McDovall works for Homeland Security as an interrogator who seems to have special talents for getting into the minds of people and determining the truth. She is trained as a psychologist and the inner workings of the mind. Honor’s talents have spooked her on more than one occasion, and she fears losing her own mind. Something in Sam calls to Honor and although they have an immediate connection, she is not on board with his assertion about fairy tales becoming fact where vampires, demons and witches exist for real. It takes Honor quite some time to not only believe Sam that he is trying to protect her from becoming an Enhanced Mate who is endanger of being captured by their enemies. Honor manages to cause him quite a bit of trouble and deadly peril before she agrees with his assertion of her being his mate and capitulates. Once Honor finally acquiesces, she become an integral part of the shifter club helping big, mean bears get in touch with their feelings which is quite amusing.
Well, things relating to the future big battle are moving along in #14 of the Dark Protector Series. Hope, who is pivotal in the war to come is now eighteen. She has long been much more involved behind the scenes in what is going on than her parents realized until now. Two young immortal young men, Pax and Drake, from each side of the fight want Hope for their own and now, the three are beginning to explore more adult feelings. The next story will be about Garrett and his quest not surprisingly.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an e-arc of Immortal's Honor!
Book 14 and I still enjoy this series! It’s just a fun time!
If you’re looking for a paranormal romance with alpha males finding their mates (but really they are all big teddy bears with them) and trying to defend the realm from their life long enemies then might I recommend this.
Sure, the men are overbearing and a pain in the butt at times. And everyone makes questionable choices at times, but I love this world of male vampire/demon/shifters who love their mates.
Each book follows one male of the realm and this one is about Sam Kyllwood, who is part demon-part vampire. He comes across Honor, who is a psychiatrist that is on a consulting job with the FBI when he is brought in for questioning. I don’t want to give anything away, but I loved seeing how their relationship progressed over the book. I also really enjoyed seeing more of Paxton, Hope, and Drake as they are now adults and are playing more of a role in the series.
Each book focuses on a relationship, while also progressing the overall scope of the series to the final battle and usually there are years between each book. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next, how things move along, and Garret finding his mate next book.
Immortal's Honor is the 14th book on the Dark Protectors series which is one of my favorites. This is Sam Killwood's story. Sam is a vampire-demon hybrid and he is the Keeper of a circle which is part of a ritual involving the Seven. Sam meets his mate Honor McDovall and even though he doesn't think she is his we all know that Fate is unavoidable. I kept wanting to help Sam with his "problem". The bears are just too funny and cute trying to help him.
I loved reading about Bear,Garrett as well as Hope and how things are changing for her now that she is all grown up. I also enjoyed the funny side of the bears as well as the sexy scenes. This is a book packed full of action and sexy romance. Another winner for Zanetti!
This is book fourteen of this series and I am in awe of the author’s ability to make each story so unique, yet at the same pull together elements of past and future characters’ stories. I love the multi point of view format and the little glimpses we get of Hope, Paxton and Drake as they grow up and begin to fulfill their destinies. In this book we have Sam, the Keeper, who isn’t quite as in your face alpha as the previous heros, but a perfect match for Honor, possibly the strongest and wisest heroine yet. As ever there are wonderfully quirky touches of humour - Bear’s Motorcycle Club members getting in touch with their feelings is simply hilarious! All in all, a book I have been looking forward to for months and yet didn’t want to reach the end of, knowing I’ll now be longing for Garrett’s story to be published.
Immortal's Honor is the next book in the Dark Protectors series and is Sam Kyllwood's story. In Sam's story we find out how Sam came to be the Keeper and more about his role in the final showdown with Ulric. Sam meets his mate Honor McDovall when he is arrested for destroying an abandoned building. Sam and Garrett are staying with the Grizzlies so I loved catching up with Bear and Nessa and what is happening in their lives. This is a multi pov book so there are also scenes from Hope, Pax and Drake's POV. It's interesting to find out what is happening with those three and how they have grown since the last book. Honor is one of the best heroines of this series, she is intelligent and funny and probably the strongest enhanced female in the series. She has a really unique talent that comes in quite handy in this book. Garrett's story is next and I can't wait!
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
I totally love this series Rebecca did another amazing job. Honor and Sam’s story was amazing the special gift that has Honor is very cool and very different for others we have read about. There is a lot of great fighting scenes and some great love scenes 😘
I totally recommend this book I couldn’t put it down.
I loved reading Sam’s story. Sam has always been kind of enigmatic character and this book pulls the curtain back on what he’s been trying to accomplish. He’s kind and sweet and a whole lot of alpha. Honor was a wonderful heroine. She’s brave and heroic. These two compliment one another perfectly. And poor Garrett. I need his book like yesterday. The overall arc with Hope continues on but not as much as I’d hoped.
Once again Rebecca Zanetti hooked me from the first page. And while I was hooked from the beginning their relationship bordered on inconsistent or unbelievable in the first third but after that that, I loved them. Honor and Sam are both fabulous characters - independently badass but as a team - basically unstoppable. I loved their relationship was such a balance between being strong and being vulnerable. Both of them learning to compromise and come together - Sam learning that he couldn't control everything and Honor learning she had to go with her guts.
Not to mention the world-building and book hopping characters - it was super fun to see so many side characters! This is part of the reason I love Dark Protectors/ Rebecca Zanetti because her characters walk so seamlessly through each other's stories and it is a lovely way to check on past favorites and always feels like you are on an inside joke with the author.
Stars: Four and a half rounded up
Steam: Four - solidly steamy with some minor kink and dominance play. Highly consensual at all times.
Tropes: Fated mates, forced proximity, us against the world
For Fans Of: Constantine - the adaptation with Keanu Reeves but want a better ending.
Subgenre: Paranormal Romance
CW/ TW: mentions of cheating, mentions/ references to death of parents at the hand of a serial killer, violence and bloodshed on the page, threats of violence from the villain
I’m pretty sure Honor is my favorite mate. She had no problem stabbing someone after all. Maybe that shouldn’t be the basis but hey… she’s a take action kind of woman!
I will also say Sam is very subdued with the “alpha” tendencies all these males seem to exhibit.
This book picks up 2 years after the previous which really shows the length of a war these immortals will fight. They almost seem patient but we all know that’s not the case.
Sam and Garrett are still with the grizzlies trying to find Garrett’s mate. Garrett is going crazy over it and Sam is there to help his friend. Sam has his own problems to deal with so he never expected a mate. His body has been out of control and the last thing he wants is a mate to leave behind. Of course fate has other plans though.
This book felt more like a romance blossoming rather than action packed like the others can sometimes feel so it was a nice break but we still have the full experience of the world. We got to see more into other characters and their doings so that was kinda nice although I will say Hope needs to open her eyes a little more.
Really enjoyable read, pulled me out of my slump super easy!
Sam discovers his Honor😍
Immortal Honor is the next book in the Dark Protectors series and is as I expected it to be….filled with action packed fight scenes between the shifters and the Kurjans but also a few discoveries about Sam and how he ended up as Keeper for the Seven😱Oh and let’s not forget, the sassy Enhanced female better known as Honor😉
I really enjoyed this story of Sam and Honor and I’m SOOOO excited to find out what happens with Garrett next as this story even though it was Sam and Honor’s definitely felt like it was Garrett’s prequel❣️Wonderful to be back in the Immortal world…I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
Honor and Sam, I have been waiting for their story. With each new book in this series, brings a sweep of sexy paranormal guys who will do anything for their women. This is series has been one of my favorites in the last few years and I truly hope it never ends. Immortals Honor is action packed and a lot of fun sexy times.
In the fourteenth book in this series, we finally get to Sam Kyllwood. Sam is a Vampire-hybrid, the middle brother who keeps everything running smoothly, the mediator between the different factions. His problem right now is he keeps being pulled into other dimensions, setting off flames and explosions. Oh, and he is the Keeper, a title he detests, and an even worse destiny.
Honor is a fantastic interrogator, being able to read people’s emotions has helped. When Sam is arrested for blowing up buildings and setting fires, she believes he is guilty but when he says he didn’t set the fires, she reads the truth of his statements. But Sam immediately realizes Honor is a very strong Enhanced female. When she grabs his arm as he leaves the police station electricity seems to spark.
I had so much fun reading this book, Bear and his Grizzly motorcycle club were hilarious. Honor’s attempts to escape were priceless. And then there was Garret, searching for his mate, looking in all the wrong places. There were also very tense parts, scary moments, and teasers. And what will happen with Hope, Paxton, and Drake as the tension increases each time they meet in the dream world.
I received an ARC of Immortal’s Honor from NetGalley and Kensington Books. This is my honest review.
4.25 Stars ✨
Have you ever finished a book and then sat down and had too take a minute to figure out what it is that you actually felt about the book? No? Well, it doesn't happen that often to me either.
First of all, let me repeat the fact that I am a HUGE Rebecca Zanetti fan. I mean HUGE. I've been a fan of this particular series from the beginning and was thrilled to be able to read an ARC. Things are really heating up as we get closer and closer to what is going to be the climax of this particular story arc.
Why am I confused? Well, here we go. Things I liked:
*I REALLY enjoyed the female MC in this story - Dr. Honor McDovall. She is a VERY strong woman who is independent, feisty and does not take ANY crap from anyone. She is honestly one of the strongest female leads that I've read in this series - and there have been some pretty strong females.
*I liked getting to know Sam Kyllwood. He has been around from the beginning, yet we haven't really had the opportunity to get to know him. Man oh man is he an interesting guy (well, interesting vampire/demon hybrid). This story lets us really see what he is made of and I really liked him.
*The relationship between these two was fun to tag along with. It wasn't one of the insta-love mate stories - even though it did happen fast. These two are more mature and grounded and they did a really good job with communicating - once Sam decided that he was going to level with her and tell her what was really going on....
What I didn't like:
*In terms of being a stand alone...I think it could be, but well, let me just say that I KNOW who everybody is and I was confused at times. If you are new to the series, I think it is becoming difficult to understand the relationships - who belongs with who and how is everyone related to each other. I mean, let's consider Hope. Hmmmm........I started to type the relationships and it was too complicated so I just hit delete, delete, delete. Let's just say she has a Demon King father, a Realm King uncle, uncles who are part of the Seven, an Uncle who is the Keeper, her grandfather is the King's right hand -and these relationships involve the Demons, the Vampires, the Shifters, the Witches......and that's just Hope.
*I'm not going to give away spoilers, but let's just say that Hope's actions are becoming a little bothersome. It was okay when she was younger for her to be naïve about what is actually going on...*cough, cough* Drake is NOT a good guy.....but you can't in one paragraph explain that she is super powerful and capable and mature, and then in the next paragraph have her completely not understand the dynamics of what is going on around her. It was okay for the first few books - it's getting annoying now.
*Garrett. Let's just say I've never wanted to slap him more than I did in this book.
So, bottom line, this is another great entry for the series. I liked it, I really did....but, it was not my favorite (even though this pairing is probably one of my favorites). There was just too much going on on the periphery for me to completely focus on the newest couple.
Garrett's book is next- good, let's give him room to redeem himself :)
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this ARC. The opinions above are mine and mine alone.
I’m kicking myself for not going back and doing a series reread but I was just too excited. If you have the time, and patience go back to the beginning. If you have NOT started this series- 1) where you been? & 2) take your fingers straight to Amazon and purchase the whole series, start with Fated and Talen(he’s still my fav) and work your way here. You will not regret it.
Now….
Sam, oh my sweet Sam, I LOVED your story. Honor was the absolute best for him and I loved seeing her grow confident in herself. This story picks up shortly after where we left off, at first I was like what…I was expecting Garrett but now I’m so excited at where this took us I’m not even mad. Well I want to thump Garrett but I’m sure I’m not alone there. Tons of plot development here, we actually get to see Ulric…kind of. Series lovers, enjoy!
This was a complimentary advanced reader copy provided by the publisher in exchange for a honest review via Netgalley.
I absolutely loved this book! I will read anything by Rebecca Zanetti (and I have!) and I have not read anything she has written that isn't at least the highest rating!
Sam and Honor...what a roller coaster ride they went on! From page 1 I was hooked and I had trouble putting it down! Sam has a lot of things going on in his life and isn't looking for a mate...perhaps due to the feeling he isn't going to live long once the big bad happens...but fate has other plans! He is part of the "7" and has the dubious title of "Keeper." He takes on that role to keep his younger brother safe...or so he is led to believe. He is an alpha to the max and Honor realizes that pretty soon after meeting him! Sam inadvertently passes his "gift" on to Honor...now she too can make things blow up and catch fire! And when they get together...watch out that the whole forest doesn't catch on fire!!
Honor is an interrogator for Homeland Security and is fascinated by Sam from the very first moment she sees him through the glass of the interrogation room! She has gifts of her own that she doesn't want and doesn't understand, and then Sam gives her one more! There is instant chemistry between Sam and Honor and that makes this story HOT!!!
Together they meet danger head on and survive, while exploring their connection amidst said danger! The end of this book came too soon, but now I'm definitely looking forward to Garrett's story! It was nice catching up with characters from the other books in this series too!
Another WINNER for Ms. Rebecca Zanetti!!! If you like strong alpha men and the lucky woman to capture his attention, you're going to love this book! I would give it 20 stars if I could!!!!!
Great book and series! I'm loving this book and series! This book had suspense, action, drama, and a great storyline! I highly recommend reading this one! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
