There are so many diets out there because there are so many body types with different things going on. There are many diet books for the 20-30 crowd. This is written with those 50 plus in mind. Eating more protein as we age. Strength training to not lose muscle mass and getting proper sleep help. I found this informative and have already started incorporating these into my routine. Excellent reading.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

This book will be a great resource for those 50 and older, as it is tied to AARP where employees took part in the pilot of the Whole Body Reset.

This book is primarily for people around 50 years old, trying to counteract the physical decline of aging - loss of muscle mass being given the most importance.
By following the Whole Body Reset, you are eating protein in the proper amounts during the day and avoiding the crash & burn of carb loading by forcing your body to burn fat instead of carbohydrates to keep up a constant source of energy.
This approach is a little more reasonable than strictly limiting carbs altogether.
The recipes are very good and emphasize portion size and timing of meals.
A good rule of thumb is to make sure the amount of protein and fiber you consume at each meal is larger than the amount of sugar or carbohydrates.
This method of weight loss does not promote intermittent fasting, but does say to make your heaviest meals early in the day.
Drinking adequate amounts of water and exercise is of course, important, especially using weights, to build muscle.
I especially liked the kale smoothie recipe and use that for one of my meals.
I have not lost more than 5 - 6 lbs at this time, but the diet is for a 12 week period and I have only been following it for 4 weeks (with 1 week of vacation in between!) However, I wanted to post a review close to the publication date.
The Whole Body Reset method is not totally new or groundbreaking, but it does seem to be a sensible way to live a more healthy life.
I have reviewed a digital copy and will probably purchase a hardback version of this book so I can have easy access to the recipes.

New health and diet books are written for 20 and 3o year olds. The vast majority of Americans are over 50 and need help. As we age things slow down and our health concerns are different. Someone younger may be dieting for that bikini but when we age we are trying to keep our muscle mass and flexibility while losing stubborn fat all while our bodily systems are getting slower.
Who better than AARP to know what we need? This is a forever method to give you body the fuel it needs, cut the crap out of your diet and get moving. We can age better, be mobile longer and keep our minds sharp by resetting our body. I have been following the principals of getting the necessary protein and fiber with my meals and feel so much better. I have more energy and have lost belly fluff. This plan is amazing and sustainable for life.

It is really so difficult to review a weight loss book when you haven't really had a chance to put it into action. What I WILL say is that much of the information made perfect sense to me (as I am definitely in their target market). As we get older, some of the information that targets younger people may not necessarily work. I already follow some of this advice and yes it has worked wonders. I plan on getting my husband on board and following the eating plan more closely and definitely adding more movement. Is the information new? Perhaps not but I found it educational and enlightening. 3.5 stars

Amazon Headline: Ready, Set, Go!!!

I saw this book listed on AARP newsletter and I immediately knew this was one for my book shelf and a book I had to read & review to get others to do the same.
There are so many diets out there because there are so many different people in our world. Not one diet on the market is for everyone. However the tips gleaned from this book I believe IS for everyone and every body type because its about protein, fiber and fat Perrine explains how to reset your mind and reinforce what you already know.

I'm 59, turning 60 in May and I have not gained weight as I age because I've been careful, but for those of you 50 and above there is help in this book. Will some of it be what you already know YES, BUT there are some very interesting nuggets on what you already know and what to do with that knowledge. Oh the language in the book is easy to digest..LOL see what I did there? Anywhere it was a great read and a helpful resource. After reading this book I think the main thing I learned is to PREPARE my meals and work out times.

I received a galley copy of this book in exchange for my thoughtful & honest review.

I was really excited to read this book but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. I did not learn anything new and it was a waste of time.
Thanks to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for the ARC.
I will not be recommending this book or buying it for our library.

I don't think there is anything new here. The advice given in this book is just like all of the other diet books out there. It even starts the same, are you finding your pants don't fit as well as they did 20 years ago? You're not alone <insert testimonial>. Need to lose weight but don't want to give up ICE CREAM? This and many more outrageous promises alongside cheeky digs at other diets and weight loss programs, and here's the science, now trade out most of what you eat for cauliflower and carry on, old lady.

A really good book for anyone over 40. Gives both the science behind the ideas as well as several principles to follow. For each principle, the authors give a range of options/ideas about how to implement them. The way that the information is broken down as well as the easy to implement guidelines reminds me of some of the tips and tricks learned in Weight Watchers.

This took a whole lot of pages to basically say eat healthy foods, but add more protein at breakfast. This information was shared over and over. There were some good recipes at the end, though.
