I absolutely loved reading this and comparing it to the movie but since I waited to long to make this review I can’t remember too much but I do love the toxicity and romance portrayed.
In "This Day," Blanka Lipińska delivers a gripping sequel that plunges readers straight into the whirlwind life of Laura Biel. Set against the backdrop of luxurious Sicily,
Laura's world appears to be a fairy tale come true—complete with a grand wedding, a wealthy husband, and the promise of a baby.
However, this opulent life is overshadowed by the constant threat of kidnapping from the dangerous criminal underworld.
Lipińska masterfully ramps up the tension, creating a narrative brimming with drama and intrigue.
What stands out in this book is its sizzling chemistry and fast-paced plot. The story's rapid progression and high stakes ensure there's never a dull moment, making it a compelling read.
However, one notable downside is the character of Olga, Laura's friend, who often comes across as irritating and adds little to the story.
Despite this, the book’s captivating twists and the intense portrayal of Laura's challenges keep readers hooked from start to finish.
As much as I wanted to like this, sadly this was a DNF for me. The translation was off just like the first book and it made this story less enjoyable.
It was hard for me to get into this book and I don't know if that was because things were lost in translation or if the FMC was just bothering me. I put the book down multiple times and am sad to say that it just didn't do it for me.
This was an intense and emotional love story. The author kept things moving again in this second part and us the readers on high alert throughout the whole book.
I didn't like any aspect of this book.
We know from book #1 that Laura's been kidnapped by Massimo, and if she doesn't fall in love with him after being his captive after 365 days, he'll let her go free. This book starts from Massimo's POV, when he deliberately gets her pregnant even after telling her that she has birth control device implanted in her arm. But it's really a tracking device.
Now that they are getting married, Laura finds herself pregnant and afraid of his reaction. But he falls to his knees, crying with happiness. The next day is their wedding, which turns out to be an enormous affair. Laura has to act like a submissive, trophy wife in front of his Mafia family. Her own family can't even attend the wedding. She only has her best friend, Olga, there for her. That's when she finds out that her husband has an identical twin brother.
There are chapters that do nothing but go into details about their sex life that I could have easily done without reading. Olga ends up dating Massimo's half-brother, Domenico. When they return from their honeymoon, Massimo sends Laura and Olga away to his hotel while he catches up on some business. But Laura gets a stupid idea and decides to go home and surprise him. There, Laura sees her husband having sex with his ex-girlfriend, and Laura runs. She and Olga go on the run and hide in Hungary with an old friend of Olga's.
Two months later, Massimo finally tracks down his disobedient wife and she sees that there's a video of his twin who she caught with another woman. Then there are more pages upon pages of sex.
Once again, Laura is kidnapped when her husband is out of sight. Nacho's family wants something from her husband, so holding his pregnant wife hostage is just the ticket. But after spending just a week with her new kidnapper has Laura catching feelings.
When she's finally found, her heart gives out and Massimo has to make the choice on who to save, her or their baby; ending the book with a cliffhanger.
I won't even bother reading the next book.
This Day is the second book in this series. I originally wanted to read this after watching the first movie, but this book wasn't for me. This book is about Laura and Massimo.
Massimo finds out Laura is pregnant and forces her to marry him. She's not happy in this life, which honestly who would be. He basically kidnapped her in book one.
Laura's life is threatened and Massimo is his crazy self and will stop at nothing to get her back.
I'm sure people will enjoy this book, it's just not for me.
"This Day" by Blanka Lipinska appears to be a thrilling and suspenseful tale of love and danger set against the backdrop of Sicily. The description promises an intriguing narrative filled with high-stakes drama and a whirlwind of emotions.
The story follows Laura Biel, who, on the surface, seems to be living a dream life in Sicily: a luxurious wedding, a wealthy and devoted husband, and the anticipation of motherhood. However, lurking beneath this seemingly perfect façade is the constant threat of kidnapping, as Laura finds herself surrounded by gangsters. This intriguing premise immediately sets the stage for a gripping and suspenseful plot.
The juxtaposition of a fairy tale-like setting with the ominous presence of danger adds an element of tension and intrigue to the story. Readers are likely to be drawn into Laura's world, sympathizing with her plight and experiencing the thrill of the unknown as she navigates the complexities of her marriage to a dangerous man.
The promise of discovering what it means to be married to the "most dangerous man in Italy" hints at a character-driven exploration of Laura's inner strength, resilience, and personal growth in the face of adversity. It's not just a story of danger but also a journey of self-discovery and survival.
Readers who enjoy suspenseful thrillers with strong female protagonists and a touch of romance are likely to find "This Day" an enticing read. Blanka Lipinska's storytelling appears to be a rollercoaster ride filled with twists and turns, making it a compelling choice for those seeking an adrenaline-pumping narrative with a hint of romance and danger.
Blanka Lipinska’s stories are like my own personal brand of Cocaine…(you like my take on that famous Twilight tag line ;) ). I am addicted, and once I get a taste, I completely immerse myself in it. I make sure that I have enough time, and all I need…aka a full kindle battery, a cup of tea, a snack, and a comfy spot to read, because I am going to be there for the long haul.
In my perspective, the books outshine the movies. Laura's character is portrayed with complexity in the books, and the two male love interests come across as less bothersome compared to their portrayal in the films. An additional critique is that the characters tend to engage in intimate moments whenever they face issues, which feels excessive. The books excel in explaining the plot more comprehensively than the movie. The writing has noticeably improved since the first installment, and the characters exhibit greater depth of personality compared to the previous book.
I felt the dame way one this one as I did with the first book.
Not a bad read. But not one of my favorites.
I just dont connect with the characters well.
But the writing and story were decent.
If you enjoy the show on Netflix, you’ll enjoy the book. Filled with smut and drama that it feels like it flies by. It’s not a book that I personally take seriously, but it’s a fun time that makes you blush quite a bit.
I loved the first two books in this series. This one proved just as good. Great characters and storyline
This series as a whole has me in a chokehold. It’s like the old school Wattpad stories but this one made it big. I liked the characters Olga being my favorite sometimes I got annoyed and irritated with decisions the MCs would make but this book was definitely a decent books
If you thought the first movie was HOT, try reading the books! Lipinska came with the heat, spice, and tension in this English-version follow-up to the highly-popular 365 Days novel and motion picture! We see Laura and Massimo happy together enjoying that honeymoon phase with wedding prep and baby news but only for a brief period of time before the drama, action, and danger ensues! As chaotic and crazy as the first book, This Day ups the ante with more action, more heat, and more fun times between Laura, Massimo, and a mystery new character! Cannot wait for the epic conclusion to this trilogy and for the movie sequels, as well!
I have no desire to read this after the first. From looking at other reviews on Goodreads it does appear that it's just as disliked by many as the first with words like "cringe" being thrown around I have no interest in it.
Like always loved it!! Loved all of the drama and all of the spiciness. Always a great read from this author
From the beginning, although somewhat twisted, I loved Massimo and Laura together. The chemistry was Fire. I think Massimo truly wanted to love Laura and needed her to teach him how to love. So like many people, when you are a fan of the couple it is very difficult to like and pull for the other guy. I agree with others about Laura jumping to conclusions and throwing tantrums was a bit much as when you are involved with the mafia, you should always expect the unexpected. Massimo wanted to keep Laura safe and did that the only way he knew how. Because this series is everywhere, knowing the ending already does not thrill me. I think a 4th book should be written with an alternate ending.
Hi there,
I did not rate this book very high and will be opting not to leave a public review.
Thanks!
This Day is book #2 in the 365 Days series. This is a dark romance, BDSM, mafia book based in Europe. Overall this series has not been my favorite, the plot can be jumpy at times and other times seems to drag on for pages. While I understand the need to emphasis on the fact that Laura married the most dangerous man in Italy, the overall plot is a bit much. It's hard to get past the fact that Laura just agrees to stay with a man for 1 year after he kidnapped her and in a few short weeks she falls in love with him, gets married and pregnant.
