Didn't not enjoy this one like the other one from this author. 365 days. I was really hoping to like it, but it did nothing for me.

Overall what should have been a very popular story was wronged by a poor translation. The dialog was stilted and unnatural. The word choice was repetitive and at odds with the romance genre. With the excitement around this series I an disappointed.

This book misses the same spark from the first book. There’s one too many plot twists, but the spice is heavy and the ending is solid so it’s worth a read if you liked the first book.

Man, if there were two people who were absolutely not meant to be together, its Laura and Massimo. But they also work together which is confusing. I went through a lot of emotions with this book. I liked it, then I didn't. Then I liked it again. There was some plot twists the peaked my interest to keep me reading. I rarely ever DNF a book.

There is a lot of steam in this book. Their adult times together are hot and kinky. Both are so toxic with each other but also toxic apart. Massimo is a Mafia Don who has a lot of enemies. For him to even have a significant other is selfish. Laura is very full of herself and annoying. Not sure if we can blame pregnancy hormones on this one.

But I still could not put this story down, I had to know what was going to happen. It obviously ends on a cliffhanger since it's a trilogy. Since this was translated from Polish, it is a little rough. Again, that is to be expected. No language is perfect when translated to another. I will definitely read the third book whenever it comes out. I'm also very curious on how Netflix makes the next two movies. There's a lot they can show and a lot they can't.

After finishing 365 Days, I was looking forward to reading This Day. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy most of it. Massimo and Laura made me cringe and want to roll my eyes during most of their interactions, and the plot twists throughout their relationship were neither exciting nor interesting to me. I also thought Laura was very immature at times, stomping her feet and shrieking when she didn't get her way. There were a few fun moments, but overall, I just didn't love it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the ARC of This Day by Blanka Lipinska.

I’m loving this mafia romance more and more, yes there’s romance, and some explicit scenes and swearing and nudity so if that’s not for you I understand. This book is more erotica.
Laura and Massimo are expecting a baby and are now getting married. Of course this book wouldn’t be without some twists and drama! Laura has her friend Olga there for support. In this book we learn a bit more about Massimo and he even has a twin Adriano! Believing Massimo cheated pregnant and heartbroken Laura and Olga head to Hungary. Soon Laura and Olga have their own little adventure. Massimo of course finds her and she returns home and he does everything to make it up to her and make her feel safe, until she meets Nacho the gardener. Soon Laura realizes Nacho isn’t a gardener and something more sinister is under way. The end of the book leaves us hanging and now I need the third book!!!! Four stars! I do want to warn my fellow readers this is erotica and there are some s*x scenes that may be hard to read! I actually really enjoy the series!!

If I am being completely honest, I have been sitting down now in front of my keyboard for about a half hour trying to form coherent thoughts about this book, but I just cannot do it. This is a first in my book reviewing career. I have never given a book 1⭐️ or finished a book I hated so much.
I have a very tumultuous relationship with this series. I heard about these books the same way everyone else did, when the movie adaptation dropped on Netflix. Now it is no secret that the movie isn’t great, but it is the kind of trash cinema that I eat up. I fell head over heels for Massimo and was dying to find out what happens with him and Laura.
So I did the obvious next step, which was to read the first book as soon as it was translated to English. The first book was a hard one for me to review because it followed to movie almost perfectly, so I enjoyed the plot, however the writing was just horrible. Now, I do not think this is necessarily a fault of the author. I think it just does not translate to English very well.
Fast forward a year and the publisher reaches out to me for a review. They not only send me the book on Netgalley, but a physical arc shows up a few weeks later. I will not lie, I was on the fence about reading this one, but this was the push I needed to just do it. What a mistake that was.
My first major gripe is one I will not spend a ton of time on, because it was my biggest issue with the first one. The writing is just not good at all. It feels disjointed, repetitive, and clunky. It is just not a great reading experience and it causes you to feel like you are slogging through the book. I am not someone who typically complains about writing or even notices writing style, so for it to severely impact my reading experience like it did, that’s a big thing.
Now, the plot….. This is where things reallly started to derail. There is absolutely NO PLOT for the first 85% of the book. To be completely honest, those 350 pages weren’t necessary at all to the overall story. It read like a long fan service Christmas novella. This entire book was built on miscommunication and sex. NONE of these characters could have a healthy relationship and they are all incredibly immature. It was the same formula over and over for hundreds of pages. There would be a misunderstanding, someone would go away for a few days, just to come back and have crazy sex and never really address the situation. By the end this was infuriating and I couldn’t give two shits about any of these characters.
As if those two things weren’t enough, then we get into the truly PROBLEMATIC parts of this book. This may contain things that some readers find slightly spoilery, so if you do plan to read this book (which I do not recommend) you may want to skip this section. Also, huge TRIGGER WARNING for sexual assault, pregnancy , and lack of consent moving forward in this review and in this book.
First of all, in the beginning of the book we find out that Laura is pregnant with Massimo’s baby. It is revealed that the “implant” he told her was birth control was just a tracker and he was trying to get her pregnant without her consent. There also seems to be NO consequences to these actions and she’s just like, “oh well, I am marrying him anyway so I am happy and find with it.” I’m sorry, but it is 2021 and we are still reading this shit? No thanks!
Then we find out that Massimo has an identical twin brother who tries to trick Laura into getting sexual with him and assaults her as a “test” to see if she can tell them apart. This happens only a few minutes after she find out her HUSBAND is a twin!
Last but CERTAINLY not least we see Laura kidnapped once again. Of course it is because she is stubborn and stupid and it’s mostly her fault. The issue here isn’t that she is kidnapped again and we basically restart the plot of book one, but it is that she is so deeply in love with Massimo but starts feeling some type of way about her captor and starts dreaming of sexual things with her. Miss ma’am, you have been married for less than 6 months. Wtf. Not only this, but her captor explains in detail him sexually assaulting her while she was passed out when he DRUGGED her, and then says, “just kidding. Do you really think I would do that?” As if it is all one big joke.

This book was a mess y’all. In my opinion, just skip these books and enjoy the movie for the enjoyable trash that it is!

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

*I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

So.. I tried guys.. I really tried. I wanted to see what happened next in this trilogy and I guess I am a bit of a masochist because I made it 50% into this one and it was painful.

I don't want to list every single things that bugs me, because if it didn't bug you in the first one, it won't bug you here because it is more of the same. "The Man in Black" gets used in ever other sentence, there is sex in every chapter and not the fun kind. The miscommunications are constant and unending. I don't understand what draws these two together.

Though I am actually looking forward to the next Netflix movie, whenever it gets made... the books sadly... just no... I can't do it.

I may just not be the right person for this series. But hey, it happens.

I am going to give it 1 star for Netgalley, but DNF it on Goodreads.

Thank you to the publishers for a review copy of the book.
However, I didn't find the translation of this book to be very well done. I couldn't get through it. I had to set it down, and I hope to return to it sometime.

This book was spicy, fun and everything I love about mafia romances. I definitely liked this one and recommend this to anyone who likes these types of romances. Book 1 was really good so if you liked that, you will definitely like this one!

I thought this was going to wrap up Laura and Massimo’s story but there is a HUGE cliffhanger at the end so be warned!

I enjoyed the first book so much but this one was just meh. There was a lot of potential so I’m hoping the Netflix show does a better job because this book was all over the place. I don’t want to say too much because of spoilers, but some plot points could have been better executed in my opinion.

The steam is still there in spades; however, I did not like how the relationship progressed. I like Massimo more and Laura less. Her friend Olga was annoying me by the end. Both Laura and Olga were making horrible decisions and they came across as shallow and immature.

I will still read book 3 because I HAVE to know what happens. Here’s to hoping the plot abs writing improve in it!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy.

The saga of Laura and Massimo continues but do not think that you will get a HEA in the end. Once again this second story in the series has everything a romance reader enjoys - hot steamy scenes, power struggles and a love that seems to be able to overcome everything. But yet the readers are thrown for a loop with new characters, more drama and loads of mafia interactions. Will the marriage last through it all? Or will once again the world be out to get them? Hold onto your hats with the ending - you will need the next book in the series ASAP!! Completely enjoyable and entertaining!! No sophomore jinx with this series.

Sexy, steamy and so sizzling hot!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜🤎
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Laura - she was on vacation in Italy when she was abducted by Don Massimo. When he took her he told her he was keeping her for 365 days and if she didn’t fall in love with him by the end of that time, he would let her go.

The Hero(es): Don Massimo - Head of a powerful Sicilian mafia family. He fell in love with Laura before he even met her and now that he has her, he wants to make sure she is safe.

The Story: Laura fell in love with Don Massimo and they are engaged and she is pregnant with their child. After the marriage things get in the way of their relationship.

I was a bit surprised at how many intimate scenes there were. I know the first book and resulting movie were pretty racy and known for that very fact. However, in the last book there was quite a bit of side story regarding the fact that Don Massimo kidnapped Laura, his near death experience in which he dreamed of her and his being head of the mafia.

In the beginning of the book especially, it seemed to be just steamy scenes one after the other with not much of a story at all. I reread my review of 365 Days and my thoughts at the time were that it wasn’t as smutty as I expected. But this book definitely was. Also, it started with a flashback scene which had me confused a bit since it didn’t reconcile with where 365 Days ended. Though the following chapter cleared that up and took off right from the ending of the last book.

By the time they have the wedding though, the story picks up a lot and though there are still plenty of steamy scenes, it is no longer just one after the other. I liked the storylines but Laura was a bit too flighty and immature my tastes. She was too gullible and tended to do do be impulsive which borrowed trouble for her.

These books are not originally written in english so there is some choppy wording that doesn’t always flow as if they are someone’s thoughts or conversational wording. Though I don’t take points off for that as I would expect that for a translated book. Though I did dislike the fact that Laura refers to him as the man in black all through the book in her thoughts and addresses him as Don Massimo most of the time instead of just Massimo. I thought it weird in both cases. Referring to him as the man in black was fine when she was his captive but just odd now that she knows him so well. The same for the formality of calling him Don Massimo instead of just Massimo.

Overall I liked the book. Although when there are too many sexy scenes they start to get on my nerves a bit, and there certainly were in this one. Nonetheless, I sometimes like a book that focuses on the romance more than the side storylines and this one definitely did that.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

A great sequel to whirlwind first book! Laura and Massimo begin with her pregnancy announcement and what follows is completely unexpected. Betrayal, mistaken identity, kidnapping, and so much more, The pace of the story is rapid with new plots and deviations coming every second you read this book.. It will be interesting to see how the adaption to film is made with all the twists and turns. The ending leaves a crazy cliffhanger with Massimo having to make an impossible choice that dramatically effects his and Laura's future together.

This Day is the second book in the 365 trilogy, following immediately after the conclusion of 365 Days. Laura has just confessed to Massimo that she’s pregnant after he threatens to leave her “for her own safety” because someone just tried to run her off the road. They’re about to get married. There are still shady dealings and family business. Laura is still a self-centered prima donna who drinks too much (except now it’s non-alcoholic bc ~baby~). Massimo is still the controlling, emotionally abusive alpha male mafia don. Their relationship is based on Stockholm Syndrome after he kidnapped her for his own selfish reasons, and is more toxic than ever. Yet somehow I still found this book as compulsively readable as the first, even as I was in disbelief over how naive and selfish and generally dislikable I found all the characters. And ending in a cliffhanger like that guarantees that I’ll read the third book, no matter how much I hate myself for it.

An action-packed erotica full of suspense, sexy times, and crime!

Since I typically review romance, I want to start by pointing out that This Day, the second book in the 365 Days series, is not classified as a romance. It is classified as erotica, very correctly so in my opinion. This is not a bad thing, just something I keep reminding myself when my mind starts searching for the happy/swoony/sweet parts and comparing This Day to other books I’ve read previously (99% spicy romance). If erotic suspense is a sub-genre, that’s what this book is. Yes, there are some romantic scenes, but they are few and far between.

Think 50 Shades meets billionaire Italian mafia alpha-hole. Vibes like “touch her and I’ll kill you” and “you belong to me and do as I say.” Beautiful people having constant sex, partying it up and living an ultra-lavish lifestyle in gorgeous locations. Oh, and sometimes taking part in major criminal activities. Read this when you want to escape the real world for a bit. It’s very unrealistic, that’s what makes it enjoyable in my opinion.

So, do I recommend this book? Yes! I also know it will not be for everyone. Personally, I look forward to seeing how the new characters introduced in this story impact the lives of the characters I have become even more interested in with this second book! I think the author could take the story in so many directions, which is very exciting!

Like the first book in this series, in what I have now accepted is just this author’s style, the book does end on a rather major cliffhanger. That left me super frustrated for a good 24 hours after I finished reading. But, with more thought, that just shows I am deeply invested in this series and the characters, so not necessarily a bad thing. I share this warning because personally, I don’t like cliffhangers, but I am much more open to them if I prepare myself going in that the book I am about to read is only part of a longer story. The cliffhanger hit me super hard with this second book for two reasons: first being that I can’t roll right into the next one like I did here, and second, I had the warning from the first movie that led me to anticipate a cliffhanger with the first book.

Thank you Atria and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this ARC and provide my honest review!
