A worthy sequel to The Jealousy of Jalice. Once more I loved the writing style, the author is really good with description without being boring and he's also good at creating atmosphere.
I'm grateful the book included a brief summary of the first volume, it had been a while so it was good to refresh my memory.
I appreciated the addition of Kerothan as one of the main POVs, he was my favorite character. Annilasia and Jalice were both interesting to follow. I was not overly invested in Mygo as a character but he didn't have as much page time as the others so overall he was ok to follow. The storyline about Spiracy was creepy and compelling, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
And... is Jalice DEAD??!! Holy shit, bold move!
The ending with the reals finally united and the arrival of the dokojins made me mad I didn't have the third book at hand.
Overall, it was kind of a preparatory book but everything about the worldbuild and the charcters is so gripping that I flew through the pages.
Since I'm (very) late in writing this review I noticed the third book was supposed to come out in 2022 but it didn't. And there's no news about a new release date, so I'm really afraid the author has given up on the trilogy. I hope not, it would be a pity!
The author is very talented and I hope he keeps writing.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.

This was one of my few DNFs for the year 2021. While the book was decent at its start, it simply didn't fit well enough within the horror and mystery genre lines I was looking for. Felt more like fantasy and science fiction in places -- and with a stack of novels to read, I didn't have time to break out of my assignments. I could see myself coming back to it sometime though.

Seems I came to the party late again. You definitely need to read the first book of this on going series. Which I will admit I haven't.

However, if dark fantasy is your thing then give this a go. I didn't know there were so many ways to describe body parts and gore. Usually I like to watch this kind of book in film but it was fun to read. I guess gory is my thing. But I'm also going to have to read book one.

I found that the author spent a lot of time describing the world and that made me feel more connected to the story. You felt like you were there and understood it all better. The characters were well developed as well.

If you like gore and body parts and a well described world then give this a go. All I can say is the author has an awesome creative brain. Not sure I'd like to live in her imagination but to read about it is fun.

Enjoy!
