This cookbook is exactly what I’ve been searching for - clean recipes that are approachable and don’t require me to go to three different specialty food stores to find the ingredients! 🙌🏻 Since discovering I need to be gluten free over a year ago, I’ve transitioned into the no gluten, low dairy, no added sugar, easy on the grains food space and I’ve read a LOT of cookbooks with these types of recipes. While I’ve found a few favorites, most of them are so extreme that my family would NEVER touch the food even if I did have the numerous hours it would take to make the dish in the first place. Also, a lot of the ingredients in the other cookbooks are pretty fussy to work with and don’t reheat well (I’m looking at you, arrowroot powder). The Real Food Table is that perfect blend of healthy and familiar and the recipes are interesting without being too adventurous for the average eater and family.
I was a little scared off by the word “dieticians” and while I understand that the authors want to give credibility to their work by listing their professional expertise, I think a friendlier sounding tagline would be more reflective of The Real Food Table’s content. I was expecting some clinical explanations or a diatribe on what I should be eating and that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. This is just an awesome collection of recipes that are approachable, delicious (I’ve already tried several recipes and had great results), and easy to incorporate into your meal plans. I’ve already made space on my cookbook shelf for this gem because I know I will be reaching for it again and again!
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon Element for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am so excited about this cookbook! It caters to a variety of different dietary restrictions and each recipe is clearly labeled so the reader knows if a recipe is gluten free, dairy free, etc. The pictures in this cookbook are bright and beautiful. Everything looks so good! I also like that there are tips for the recipes on how to customize them. So far I have made the spaghetti squash pasta & broccoli with dairy-free Alfredo. It was delicious and easy. I found the instructions to be well laid out, simple to understand, and the time to prepare listed in the cookbook was accurate. I am looking forward to trying the other recipes!
Thank you to the Simon Element and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this great book. This wonderful book provides healthy, well-balanced comfort food recipes that are easy to make. The photos of the dishes are appealing and the recipes are broken down into categories and substitutions are provided to fit any restriction (nut-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, etc).
I follow the Real Food Dietitians on Instagram, so when I had the chance to review their cookbook for NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, I was thrilled to have the chance. Cookbooks can be very subjective and I am a novice cook so I was hoping for something with broad appeal that allowed for a learning curve.
I was pleased to see ingredients that appealed to me, such as sweet potato hash with avocado and a fried egg for toppings, French Toast bake, and of course, white chicken chili!
I would recommend this cookbook for anyone who enjoys appealing recipes, bright and instructive photographs, and clear directions.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is an interesting cook book that accommodates a lot of dietary restrictions.
I wish there were more pictures in this book. There are a few, but not for every recipe like I usually like. There's a variety of recipes that span quite a few kinds of diets. Most of the recipes are straightforward and are good for meal prepping. There is quite a bit of meat so some recipes may need to be further altered.
Overall an interesting cook book.
I received this book from the publisher for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Registered dietitians Jessica and Stacie have a successful meal-planning membership program that turn s into a website with a huge following. Many people are turning to healthy versions of comfort foods. This book is a collection of recipes developed by the authors which focus on basics of whole food cooking. Home cooks are busy people wanting to provide nutritious meals for the family that are also delicious. This is not a diet book focusing on restrictions. Features: pantry staples, kitchen staples and essentials, meal plan to try all the recipes.
Mine was an advanced reading copy and formatting was awkward but readable. At time of this review a Goodreads giveaway for print edition is available. This is a cookbook I want on my shelf. Full of healthy recipes that support my own food choices and fit my budget, this book will stand the test of time. If you have one book to add to your cookbook collections this year, consider this one.
I am always on the hunt for more recipes that are healthier to eat. What I like about this book is that is does have pantry staples, which always helps me build my shopping list. The book is then broken down into a 4 week dinner plan, which is so helpful! And while there were a few recipes that I think I want to try, overall the vegetarian options were disappointing.
Beautifully photographed cookbook that makes you want to eat REAL food!
I enjoyed looking through this cookbook featuring recipes with "real" food. No pre-made boxed or packaged items in this book other than some standard pantry items like vinegar.
I found a few ingredients (like prolific use of coconut aminos) to lend themselves toward gluten-free cooking, which I don't do, so I don't think I would need this book.
However, one of the features of the book is that it has labels on each recipe to tell if it is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. There are a TON of labels so you can thumb through the book quickly to find the recipes that apply to you!
I am a seasoned cook (pun intended!) and these recipes all look like they would work very well. I did not personally find a lot of new things as I always cook from scratch, but if you are starting out trying to cook healthier, or if you have special dietary needs, then this is a great book to have in your kitchen.
I'm a lover of cookbooks and love to cook, especially healthy food. This is a great collection of recipes to refer back to. Although there are many versions of these recipes elsewhere, I enjoyed how easy and sometimes quick the recipes are. I definitely need that in my crazy, busy life.
Beautiful cookbook! Love the pictures and recipes all sound wonderful! The salad section was my favorite! Baked potato salad? Yes, please!
I really enjoyed this cookbook. The Real Food Dietitians: The Real Food Table offers solid recipes that use real, nutritious foods that come together in appealing and healthy recipes. Honestly there are so many recipes in here that I can't wait to try out! There's some quality nutrition/cooking information in the beginning for those who may be new to this style of eating, but not so much information that it the reader would be overwhelmed.
This cookbook was absolutely perfect for my diet lifestyle. I eat clean almost all of the time. I loved the homemade condiment recipes. It's hard to find those recipes that actually taste good. The information in the beginning was redundant for me just because this is my lifestyle, but it was a good refresher. I appreciated that there were dairy-free options in this book and options for different substitutions. I appreciate that they included the nutritional info. That's very helpful. I can't wait to continue to make more recipes from this book. Huge thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to make these recipes and review this cookbook.
I requested this book because of the cover. I wanted to try that chicken, with sweet potato and asparagus recipe and it's one of my favorite ones in the book. The other recipes look nice too but I don't think I would personally make most of them at home in a daily basis.
The recipes I would try: crispy baked chicken nuggets, sheet pan honey-garlic chicken and vegetables (cover photo), mediterranean pasta salad, and cowgirl cookies.
My favorite homemade recipes in this book are: homemade bbq sauce, honey mustard, greek vinaigrette, ranch dressing, and ranch seasoning mix. I love learning how to make sauces at home.
Some of the recipes in this book that I'm used to making so I wouldn't need a recipe for: roast chicken, chicken salad, Irish beef stew, chili, beef and broccoli, lasagna, tomato soup, deviled eggs. But they are good recipes, so it's great that they're included for people that don't know how to make them.
It also has some dairy-free options, some have the option to substitute ingredients to make it vegan, and a nutrition info at the end of each recipe. For example: dairy-free mac and cheese, dairy-free nacho cheese,
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
I absolutely adored this cook book. The recipes were simple and delicious, also loved the nutritional information. It has really helped with keeping my calorie intake in check
Well this just became my favorite healthy cookbook ever. The recipes are easy to follow, with easy to find ingredients. They even give you a 4 week meal plan for dinners.
There are instant pot and slow cooker recipes. The authors even give you tips to customize each recipe to fit your diet (I.e. vegan, dairy free.. etc.). I do wish there were more pictures because the ones that are in the book look amazing.
I can’t wait to start making all these recipes! Starting with making the granola tonight!
This book definitely showcases the food dietitians recipes. The pictures are fantastic and there is plenty to love.
Having not been a follower of the bloggers I was curious and although not exactly what I expected the book is still great. It showcases real food with easy to follow recipes without weird or hard to find ingredients. The authors keep it simple and relatively healthy.
I honestly expected it to be more diet oriented but the food is easily adapted for those wanting or needing to eliminate some ingredients and it had tips and suggestions built in for that. Overall it's a win and there are recipes I will be using on the regular.
It seems like the authors have a decent following of people that appreciate their recipes. The cookbook covered a lot of ground. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking that I hadn’t heard before, and most recipes didn’t seem super unique. I think the blog followers will appreciate it though. The food pictures were fantastic. 3.75 stars Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.
This was a great cookbook and I really enjoyed reading through the recipes. I definitely found some that I will be making. Everyone needs healthier options to great everyday foods.
I have followed The Real Dietians blog for years and this is a great collection of recipes. A great collection of recipes for many food allergy needs. This is a must-have on the cookbook shelf!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-ARC of The Real Food Dietitians.
A beautifully illustrated cookbook that gives recipes for comfort food that is healthy! Jessica Beacom and Stacie Hassing give helpful hints, substitutions, and advice for healthy eating. As a person with a nut allergy, I appreciated the way they identify each recipe for allergens and offer substitutions.
