I have to say that "The Rake Gets Ravished" is steamy from the very beginning. Mercy Kittinger sneaks into a gaming hell owned by Silas Masters to steal back a debt voucher for her family's farm. Silas catches Mercy in his private rooms where she decides that as a 26 year old spinster with desires, to seduce this gorgeous and enigmatic man.
Almost the entirety of the book takes place at Mercy's family country house where forced proximity creates plenty of opportunities to be thrown together. It is a low angst and easy read. Silas proves himself to be a good man over and over while Mercy's wastrel brother is the kind of man you love to hate. This was an easy and quick read, and I am hoping to see more of the Kittinger family.
Sophie Jordan's new book "The Rake Gets Ravished" is steamy from the start. We meet our heroine, Mercy, as she sneaks into a gaming hell to steal back a debt voucher for her family's farm. Sexy and powerful Silas Masters is the owner of the gaming hell. He catches Mercy in his private rooms where she decides to seduce him. Almost the entirety of the book takes place at Mercy's family country house where forced proximity creates plenty of opportunities to be thrown together.
This book was just an easy effortless read. I swear I blinked and was already 75% done. Mercy is a character that really grows into herself throughout the book. She is forced to be the constant in her younger sister's life. She feels responsibility to keep the house and her twin brother on track. The way Jordan could make the reader feel such disdain for Mercy's brother shows what a brilliant writer she is.
This book is for you if you like: low angst, take charge heroines, the 1 bed trope, oranges, and steamy can't keep their hands off each other romance scenes .
I enjoyed reading this book immensely and can't wait to read the next in the series. Thank you so much to Sophie Jordan, NetGalley, Avon, and Harper Voyager for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
