✨second chance
✨ small town romance

✨Adeline was trying to forget her past and start a new. She met Mac and they get on easily . But because the story was abit on a slow paced, Adeline doesn’t want to commit as such and Mac wants her but he needs to get away to protect her . But it was too late.

✨ story was great, it just abit too slow for me. The ending was predicatable and I only like Adeline as a character here and doesn’t feel much from Mac .

✨ Thankyou netgalley for the opportunity to read this arc for a honest review.

This is the next book in the Verona Bay series and Adeline and Mac have some sort of chemistry going on. It is apparent to Mac that Adeline is hiding something. Place them in forced proximity to do a booking mixup at a cabin, forcing them to talk and engage in their feelings for each other. Throw in some hot sex, with murder suspense and you have the makings of a great story. I loved it! 4.5 stars

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Silent protector through Net galley . This story is sensational from start to finish . It kept me turning the pages it's so interesting and intriguing . Adeline Rodriguez hasn't had any easy life . She has a past with secrets and she really needed a week getaway at the cabin . Especially after the man she crushed on ghosted her . Mac Collins really wanted a relationship with Adeline but he was afraid he would put her in danger . From being trapped in a cabin together to stopping a killer bent on revenge Mac has his hands full . I highly recommend taking the time to read this outstanding story .

Mac has been asking Adeline out since she has gotten to town, now though an ex-con is wanting to put Mac in the morgue and Mac is wanting to keep Adeline safe. Plenty of action and so high-paced a story that you will be done with this story before you know it. Excellent characters along with an epilogue that helps with other books. A very good book.

The craziness of this small town in FL just keeps getting worse and I can tell you I would never want to move to Verona Bay. Katie Reus’s newest romantic suspense series is set in a small but idyllic Florida town that seems to be filled with folks hiding from their pasts and attracting psychotic killers to them. The newest is the story of Adeline and Mac who both have secrets they have hidden and because of it they have pushed one another away despite wanting one another intensely. Adeline Rodriguez moved to the small town of Verona Bay to escape her rocky past and has made her life into something to treasure, opening her business and living a quiet life, but she can’t seem to resist the draw of sexy Mac Collins. Mac has wanted Adeline since he first met her and when he finally gets her to let her guard down enough to agree to a date he is beyond enthusiastic, until his past comes back to haunt him. Mac knows that pushing Adeline away this time will mean he is giving up his shot at the only woman he has ever wanted this much. Adeline however refuses to let him push her away again after she finally lets him in and instead forces her way into the situation he finds himself in, putting her directly into the crosshairs of a dangerous killer. Now not only does Mac have to protect himself and his family, he had to keep Adeline from being hurt as they are forced to hide together. The more time they spend together though the harder it is to deny they their hearts are entwined and they are meant to be together. But the killer is not to be denied and the only thing that will stop him from winning is Adeline and Mac coming together to defeat the bastard. Adeline was an interesting mix of bravery, fear, and steadfastness as she fought hard for her place in Mac’s life and even though it put her in danger she refused to back down and leave him to fight alone. Her kindness and courage made her a perfect mate for Mac and a great addition to his family, a lover and partner that could stand beside him and take some of his burdens. Mac was the typical alpha warrior, trying to push Adeline away in order to protect her, but once he accepted that she wasn’t walking away, despite the danger, he kept her close and showed her the determination and resilience that made him a great man. I loved seeing him interacting with his brothers and the love between them, even when he was being stubborn about trying to take everything on him instead of working as a team. Once he realized he couldn’t do it all himself and started opening up more he became an even better character. The passion between these two was a mix of push and pull and really fun to watch them work out, but once they finally gave in the heat was extraordinary to experience. I really am relishing this series as it progresses and am looking forward to even more suspenseful romance in this little town full of crazies as Reus continues to take us on a ride through their stories. Reus has a sadistic and terrifying skill to bring her readers into the minds of her antagonists and take us into the darkness of their world even as we root for the lovers to succeed in defeating them. I just love this series and hope it continues a long time into the future.

Katie Reus is one of my favourite authors and I've always enjoyed reading her books. Silent Protector is Book 3 in the Verona Bay series and here we have the story of Mac and Adeline. With the help of weather and double-booking, both are trapped in the cabin and romance commenced. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I enjoyed both characters. I find their passion and chemistry believable and I loved how protective Mac is. There was some bad things that happened but never fear as our main characters do get their HEA.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy, the review above are of my own thoughts.

This was another good one from Katie Reus! Her characters are always well-developed and believable. I loved the interactions between the H and h and the plot kept the pages turning. I also love the setting and visiting with the characters we've met in previous books from this series.

Non stop action and suspense, this return to Verona Bay will have readers on the edge of their seats. A well written story, there will be some steamy scenes, but don’t expect Adeline and Mac to crawl under the sheets quickly. The underlying current of attraction is intense and worth the wait! Readers will love Mac and Adeline, while also adoring Mac’s brothers as we get to know them as well. The newest addition to Verona Bay is perfect.

Katie Reus takes the readers back to Verona Bay, giving us another thrilling read as she brings Max Collins to Adeline Rodriguez.

Max with his brothers is rooted in Verona Bay, and Adeline Rodriguez finally finds her roots in the small town as she makes a fresh start co-owning a pet grooming business. A small miscommunication leads to Adeline and Max staying under the same roof, and is a perfect intimate situation to spark the attraction between Max and Adeline into a fire.

Life couldn’t be much more simple and romantic than this, but even small towns have their share of evil and danger. Max becomes entangled in a dangerous past that seems to threaten his family and loved ones, and Adeline has some secrets that not everyone is privy to. Max being the protector, becomes Adeline’s “Silent Protector”. But they have to work together to face this danger if they ever want to make a future with each other.

It’s always nice revisiting previous characters and Katie Reus always makes sure they make an appearance in future books in a series. Another quick and thrilling read that would appease any reader’s palette.

Another great addition to the Verona Bay series. A slow burn with lots of suspense and characters that are thrown together and eventually fall in love. I love the way Katie writes, the flow and build-up are perfect.

Compelling writing, interesting characters, and a plot that takes you in all kinds of unexpected directions.

Mac has been interested in Adeline since the moment he met her, but she keeps giving him the cold shoulder. Through a mishap, they ended up at a mutual friend's cabin at the same time during a heavy storm. They get to know each other better while hiding away from nature's fury, and Adeline starts to hope she can move on from her past with Mac by her side. But Mac finds himself in a dangerous situation and he distances himself from Adeline to protect her.

This is the third book in the Verona Bay series, but it stands well on its own. I haven't read any of the others yet, but they are on my to-read list now for sure.

Mac and Adeline are both interesting, well-developed characters. Mac is so confident, protective, and take-charge. Adeline is no shrinking violet, and she kept up with him and everything going on around them. They make a great team, but also a great couple. The bad guy, Harlan, kept them on their toes. It always makes a story more exciting if the villain is also interesting and unpredictable.

I can definitely recommend this if you like romantic suspense novels.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Katie Reus's romantic suspense gets better and better! Adeline thinks she has a quiet weekend in a friend's cabin to paint on her own, when she realizes Mac Collins was also loaned the coabin by accident. The forced proximity trope works well here, especially when they have to help each other get out of a dangerous situation.

Mac wants to protect her and keeps her at arm's length, but Adeline has been through too much in her life, and is determined to help him. There was a lot of action in this one, and Mac's younger brothers are terrific minor characters. Reus's smart, savvy ladies, are always fun to read.

This is book three in the Verona Bay series and can be read as a standalone. The story between Mac and Adeline captured me in the beginning and kept going till the end. It provided a good mix of suspense and romance for my tastes. I would certainly recommend. While I haven't read the first two books, I'm going to read them as this is a great series in my opinion.
I received an advanced reader copy and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

A slow burn romantic suspense. Mac and Adeline end up double booked at a friend's cabin and get stranded for a few days. They decide to date, but when something threatens his family, he bails to protect her. Too late, of course, but Mac's background helps to keep them safe. A good story, and the suspense elements were just enough. Lots of action and drama. Sweet epilogue.

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I do not give spoilers so please look elsewhere. You have the right to not have the wonderful story ruined with spoilers. I held my breath many parts of this book. Bad ass female and strong alpha male characters are the focus of this book.

Katie Reus created loveable characters with past and futures they want but are not sure they can have. Adeline and Mac are cute, readers will love them right off the bat. The author created wonderful dialogue that will have readers hooked as Adeline and Mac survive flooding, murder and mystery. The secondary characters are fun and will have reader wanting more.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a advance copy of Silent Protector.

Loved Mac and Adeline in the 3rd book of the Verona Bay series. A bit of a slow burn romance - they are just about to start dating when danger intervenes and they're forced to bunk together in a safe house with his brothers. While there, Mac and Adeline's relationship evolves and she also finds herself welcomed into the family with his two much younger brothers. The story is funny, steamy, suspenseful, with a few unexpected twists and turns. Great addition to the series!

Well done! This was an interesting read from the beginning and continued all the way to the end. I thought the plot was unique and it kept me attention through out. I don't think the action/suspense was a high as the previous two books, but it was enjoyable.

***4.5 Stars***

After finishing Deadly Past, I had my toes crossed that the next book in the series would Adeline and Mac, so to say I was thrilled that this was their book is kind of an understatement and I wasn’t disappointed. There was some craycray going on here and some “You did what?!?” moments, but overall, I loved watching as both Adeline and Mac stumbled their way to the HEA they both deserved.

I loved both Adeline and Mac. Adeline has been through hell, but she’s picked herself up and is working on finding her own happiness. Mac is just a good man. Taking care of his brothers after losing their parents and simply being an upstanding kinda guy. It’s hard not to love him. Their journey was sweet, smexy, awkward and add in a psycho to the mix and you have one hell of a ride. After the awkwardness was over, I really liked their flow. Their bantering was a lot of fun and I liked the balance of power between them. I also liked how they kinda put their foot in it on an equal level as well. But in the end, I was very happy with how everything worked out for them.

I read some crazy, dark, deviant things and while this one doesn’t fall truly into either ~ at least on the “romance” side of it ~ there was some crazy going on. There were some situations that had me going “Really? Really?” that just happened ~ and no, it wasn’t only the baddie who had me reacting like that. But outside of that, I loved getting to hang out with Dylan and Joe. They were so much fun and I’m crossing my toes we get more of them in the future. It was also fun to catch up with the rest of the Verona Bay crew, though I did feel bad for Lincoln with all that was going on. But, all in all, this was a great read and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing who the next book will be about.
