Reasons to read Silent Protector:

 Hunky former Marine
Lovable heroine who faces her fears
Danger that isn't because of the heroine's past!

I really loved both Mac and Adeline. Mac is truly a gentleman who is protective, but not over the top. Adeline has trauma in her background, but she doesn't use that as a reason to prevent her from opening up. I also loved that the suspense doesn't come from the heroine or from the relationship between the hero and heroine. The small town setting is a winner as well because you get such great side characters!

Overall, Silent Protector is a perfect binge read while quilting and sipping tea!

I have been a fan of Katie Reus for a number of years, and while it's been a bit since I've read a book of hers I've always enjoyed her work. I feel that Silent Protector gets a 4.5 stars out of 5 because while over all I really enjoyed the story, I felt that the beginning was a little confusing and I couldn't follow along with what was going on and who the leads of the book were. But once I got a few chapters in I caught up to what was going on. Maybe my confusion was due to not reading the first two books in the series but as I haven't read them yet I can't say for sure.
Adeline Rodriguez has had horrible luck with men starting with the older man who tricked her into thinking he was someone he wasn't and ended up being abusive. Since then she's been trying to find her place in the world and it hasn't stuck. But then she moved to Verona Bay Florida and she might have just found what she's always been looking for. She's co-owner of a pet boutique and grooming salon, she has close friends and there is even a guy, Mac Collins, that she might like. But Adeline doesn't trust her own judgment, even for Mac. But when there is a mistake with a supposedly empty cabin owned by mutual friends and an impending storm, Adeline is forced to confront her true feelings towards him.
Mac has been asking Adeline out on dates since he's met her, but she's always said no and then she started to actively avoid him. So when they're temporarily trapped at a cabin in the woods together he doesn't mind too much because he's able to convince her to give him a chance. But just when they get back to the reality of real life Mac's younger brother, Joe, sees something in the woods by their house that he shouldn't have putting him, his brothers, and even Adeline in danger. Can Mac keep Adeline safe from the dangers that are lurking in Verona Bay?

Mac was definitely made for Silent Protector. The title of this story is Mac! I love a former Marine, the born protector. And even though the hero of this story is pretty quiet, those are the ones you need to watch out for. I swooned over Mac so many times. Add that he is a father figure to his brothers... just made melt!

Adeline - yes she holds a secret. And yes it seems that she is hiding, but that girl brings it when it all comes down to it. There is a lot of suspense and drama that will unfold. Verona Bay is in for a loop with the one that hides in the shadows.

Silent Protector is a story you need to have in your future book pile. I read this story as a stand alone. I am ready to go back to book one and two.

I liked Adeline and Mac as individuals and enjoyed reading their story. Their attraction was subtle but always in the forefront. Their romance read more like a slow burn even when their chemistry ran under the surface of their every interaction. I liked them together, especially in those candid moments when they shared their secrets to one another.
3.5 stars

This story had a lot of elements I look for when reading a suspenseful romance. I enjoyed the different aspects of the plot and I thought that the author did a great job of bringing the right amount of intrigue to romance ratio. I don't think the story would have worked for me otherwise.

According to the blurb, this book can be read as a stand alone. However, I disagree. I did feel lost at times because it seemed like I should have known a lot of information beforehand. Especially in regards to Adeline, Mac and his brothers. There were many secondary characters and although the author made the effort to give enough of their backstories, I did feel overwhelmed and lost sight of a couple of characters as the story progressed. There were also several POVs that instead of helping me in get into the story more, served to take me away from what was happening at that moment. In spite of this, I managed to enjoyed the conflict, its resolution and the romance that took place. So all was good. in the end.

All in all, a quick enjoyable read.

Silent Protector is the third book in this suspenseful Verona Bay series by Katie Reus. Adeline Rodriguez has made a new life for herself in Verona Bay. Mac Collins has kept his distance but is interested in knowing her much better. So while the coming together feels fast, these two have been aware of each other for some time.

I must say I thought it would be Adeline’s past that would put her in danger but it is really not her past at all. However, the secrets that she has are revealed by the end. Adeline is a strong, determined, and bold heroine. Just the sort that would attract someone like Mac who has respect for women as well as a need to protect those he cares for. Of course he is not perfect but darn near so.

The plot goes smoothly from slow burn romance to suspense to action. The author describes the scenes with such detail it feels as if you're right there in the story. Highly recommend to all romance suspense fans.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book 3 in the Verona Bay series and I would read the previous books before reading this one. There are things spoken about in this book that happened previously. With that said, in this one we get Adeline Rodriguez and Mac Collins story. Adeline started over in Verona Bay and buried everything about her past. She has remade her life and now co-owns a local pet grooming business. Mac Mac has been attracted to Adeline since the first time he saw her. But he has kept his distance since she turned him down when he asked her out. Now they are both stuck at their friend's cabin after they were both told they could use it. And being forced to spend time together makes them confront their attraction. But when they get back home and Mac ghosts Adeline-she chooses not to let it go and confronts him. He had his reasons for pushing her away, and now she is right in the cross hairs of those reasons!

I absolutely loved this story!! Mac may be alpha and protective but he can also be pretty stupid. Even when he thinks he is being smart and keeping someone safe. It made him seem more real to me and I loved that about him! Adeline has been through a lot in her life, but somehow she always manages to pull herself up and find a way to move forward. And that just made me like her even more. The story was great, the characters (as always) were great, and it kept me reading from start to finish. Loved the whole journey!

Reus always always delivers. Silent Protector is yet another fantastic example or her skill as a storyteller. I love the element of suspense and the constant ramping up of the tension. The romance is always well developed and swoon worthy. I'm looking forward to reading her next story.

Silent Protector is the third book in the Verona Bay series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone title, but as a huge fan, I highly recommend reading them all in order for the best experience. However, there’s plenty of backstory woven throughout so you will not be lost regarding the plot or who’s who among the characters.

Katie Reus is one of my automatic 1-click authors and has been for a while. Her characters are easy to get to know, easy to relate to, and I usually love them all, and her plots are always well thought out. The mystery and suspense are always fresh, as well. (She also writes some great PNR books, so if that’s your jam, be sure to check those out!) Honestly, though. Sometimes an author’s work just resonates with you from the get-go, and you snatch up every book they release, which is exactly how I feel about Katie Reus’s romantic suspense books. I tend to devour them in one sitting, and Silent Protector was no exception.

It’s been a while since the last Verona Bay book was released, so I was more than ready for this one to hit my Kindle. It’s full of romance, suspense, fast-paced action, and characters you can’t help but fall in love with—and some you just can’t help but hate, which is essential to great romantic suspense.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the third book in the Verona Bay series. The beginning of this book pulled me into the story, and I loved that the beginning of this book is cute and sweet. The middle is the suspense starts, and I love the suspense in this book. The ending of this book is fill of action, and it was so great. I really enjoyed this book has a great mix of Romance/Action/Suspense, and I loved the characters in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (KR Press, LLC) or author (Katie Reus) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This is the third book in this wonderful series by Katie Reus. Mac is a former Marine, and a woodworker, and Adeline is fairly new in Vernon’s Bay with a history that she doesn’t share. The first part of this book starts the romance, and then things swing into romantic suspense. It had good action, great relationship talks, and I really enjoyed Mac’s brothers as well as other characters from previous books. A fun quick read

An Alpha hero with a heart of gold! Sigh….. Mac and Adeline’s story had me feeling so much! Katie has such a way with words that I felt like I was apart of all the action and suspense happening. This right here is why I love her books! A perfect escape into a world with amazing characters and a love that although doesn’t come easy, could be the greatest unexpected gift of all! These two will definitely have you on the edge of your seat! Magnificent read! Highly recommended!

Adeline has started her life over again in Verona Bay, leaving behind the violence and secrets of her past to create a successful business with her new friend. She doesn’t date much, due to her past, which causes her to avoid and turn down date requests. A double booking at a mutual friends’ cabin has them in forced proximity during a crazy storm, giving Adeline hope that maybe she can move beyond her traumatic past.

Mac is protective, bossy, and used to being in charge. As he settles into having adult brothers, he finds himself torn between protecting them like he did when they were younger and letting them help in tense situations. When a situation arises that puts his family in danger, he closes ranks by canceling his much anticipated date with Adeline at the very last minute. But it was too late and Adeline’s response to his canceling puts her in the crosshairs despite his attempts to keep her safe.

I loved these two. From their unexpected weekend together to the way they addressed the new dangers when they returned home there was always something going on. The pub has a great mix of romance, suspense, and dramatic action to keep the pages turning. I enjoyed the beginning, but really loved the middle to end as the action heated up.

This series can be read as standalones. Each couple has their own complete story within the pages of each book, but I love the way former couples appear to play support roles as the series progresses. There are still stories to tell in Verona Bay and I look forward to more!

I truly wanted to fall into Adeline and Mac's story but it's just missing the chemistry and the zing. While the beginning is a cute romance, they are stuck together while a storm rages, the follow through just misses the mark.

There's not much more that I can say about that Katie Reus that I haven't said before. I know when I read a new book from her that I can settle in for a good read.

I was hoping to get Mac and Adeline's story when we first met them earlier in the series. I was not disappointed. Mac is one of my favorite Katie Reus heroes. I loved Mac's brothers and his relationship with them.

If you like romantic suspense you can't go wrong with Katie Reus.

Loved this book with Mac and Adeline. Intense from the first chapter, but it keeps coming and coming. Could not stop turning the pages. Interlaces with both serious and funny parts (board games and winning dances) and a threat not from the heroines past, but Macs. This book is the third chapter in this series, you don't need to read in order, but it would certainly help. Love the way Ms. Reus creates her Alpha heroes. I'll read the next book for sure.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

We are back in Verona Falls and it's finally time for Mac and Adeline's story. Their chemistry is off the charts. The budding romance is both sexy and sweet. You get the perfect dose of tension and action fueled suspense. Another great read by one if my go to authors.

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense. This is my first book by this author and definitely won't be my last. The hero is definitely swoon worthy. He's protective but just an all around good guy. I thought this book had a good mixture of suspense and action. Plus, small town romances are the best. It was well written with great conflict. I hope there are more books in this series. Huge thanks to the author and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy;

Wow, I could not put this book down - it was so filled with drama, action, and sizzling romance that I had to keep reading it to the end.

I loved both Mac and Adeline, while I don't agree with Mac and how he handled cancelling their date, he was rightly concerned about how their relationship might cause problems for her. Adeline was just so nice but loved when she got angry and was going to let Mac know he was a jerk.

It is also good to see the other characters and that they were part of the story and the love that Mac had for his brother. The last chapter was such a good wrap up but hope there is more from Verona Bay!

Silent Protector by Katie Reus
Verona Bay series book 3. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone. Previous couples do appear occasionally but you don’t need to know them.
Mac has been enamored with Adeline since she moved into town but she turned him down when he first asked her out. An accidental double booking at a friends cabin and a storm has the two in forced proximity and heightened tension. Getting home doesn’t solve the dilemma as an ex-con neighbor decides that Mac needs to die along with anyone connected to him.

High octane tension from middle to end with a crazy killer in the small town where everyone knows where you are from moment to moment. There’s no hiding place he won’t find.
Plenty of romance and family time Mac’s two younger brothers.
I loved Adeline’s game prowess and how the brothers treated it with humor and grace. Her alone status changes to being surrounded by family and good friends. It’s heartwarming.
The epilogue includes characters from the previous two books and brings the trilogy to a nice close.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I have also purchased a copy to share.
