Wow, Danielle Steele has done it again and if possible even better. Her portrayals of feelings are amazing and this book has alot of " feels" she gets them all. This is Antonia's story from birth to adulthood. Raised by emotional distant father and a mother that resented her birth and left without another word at age 7. She learned at a very young age to be invisible to her arguing parents. Escaping into a book or just hiding in apartment. Growing up striving to make no waves, had no or few friends till college. Not going to recap entire plot, just going to say read this book. I highly recommend it, has all the " feels"!

An emotional story about a girl who will do anything to remain invisible due to her parent's selfish ways.

Antonia Adams was born to a wealthy American father, Brandon, and a narcissist mother from France, Fabienne. Brandon fell in love with her when she waited on him several times in Paris. He always wanted a wife and children and not a society girl from NY. Fabienne just wanted to be an actress and have the world revolve around her. Brandon realized his wife's true colors years later after Antonia was born. Fabienne despised her daughter from the day she delivered her, refusing to nurse her or even hold her. Brandon fell in love with his blonde haired angel on first sight. But Fabienne hated when Brandon spent anytime with the baby. So to calm her down, he made himself ignore his child to keep the peace at home.

By the time Antonia was only seven years old, Fabienne was sneaking out to go party at clubs with her other actor friends and do drugs. With Brandon traveling so much for work, she knew she could get away with it. By this time, Antonia knew how to become invisible when they fought. She had several babysitters come and go throughout her young life, because her mother refused to take care of her.

The night her mother left them for Hollywood, Brandon became someone else. A bitter man stuck with a seven year old that he didn't want to raise. He forgot that Antonia was half his. The one thing Antonia loved to do was write screenplays and go see movies. She'd go every Saturday by herself.

When she was fourteen years old, her dad remarried a nice woman, Lara, who loved spending time with Antonia. It gave Antonia a glimpse of what having a mother would have been like. They went to the movies together on Saturday's and Lara saw her leave parts of her shell behind when they were together. She also saw the neglectful way her new husband was his only child. When Antonia applied for colleges, her dad wanted her to study law or business. She only wanted to go to NYC and study screenwriting. He was adamant that she would not be an actress like her mother, who never had a chance acting. She became a bartender. With a promise to never try acting, she went to the school she wanted.

She loved college. Every summer she worked for a movie studio. The summer of her sophomore year she was hired to work with a very prominent director. She loved the work and she had a small part in the movie because the director, Hamish, loved her look. The following school year, Hamish came to NY for the movie premiere and took Antonia as his date. She hated the paparazzi, but loved the movie. Weeks later, Hamish had a small part for her in his next movie that would shoot in June.

Even though she only wanted to hide, he saw right through her, he helped her shine. He wanted to protect her from her father's cruel words. Her beauty shouldn't be hidden. He was 20 years older than she was, but they fell in love.

Her father was furious and refused to talk to her. She was still writing her screenplays and Hamish taught her so much about directing; which was what she wanted to do as well. Lara was the piece of family she had.

She graduated college and her dad refused to come to her graduation. Lara and Hamish were there for her. After graduation, she moved to London with Hamish and started her life. They made more movies, got married, and they were the "it couple." At the end of their last movie, Antonia realized that she was pregnant and they were thrilled.

But when her husband dies in an accident, Antonia gave up acting all together. She was pregnant with their second child and alone. Hamish was the only person who made her feel safe. After giving birth to her daughter, she decides to move them to the States. She buys a big farm in Connecticut where she can raise her kids without the press following her.

There she spends the next 17 years writing and directing movies and raising her children. When she hires a new assistant director, she doesn't realize that she will find love again.

A powerful read.

All the wonderfulness you'd expect from a Danielle Steel novel!!
I could not put this down! We follow Antonia through her whole life and it is a heart wrenching and warming life. All she wants in life is to be not seen, not in the spotlight, not make anyone - like her parents - upset with her. She wants to stay in the shadows and behind the scenes while finding her way in life and adulthood.
I loved this story so much. I went through every emotion, shed some tears, and definitely cheered for Antonia and her successes.
A must read!

As always, a Danielle Steel book that has kept me reading far into the night. I am always surprised by the wealth of characteristics that Ms. Steele always weaves into the characters in her stories. I laugh, I cry, I cheer, and I have my heart broken. A common theme I find in this and most of her stories is the survival of the human spirit. Heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Invisible with Daniel Steele's latest novel, one that I found quite enjoyable. Antonia Adams perfects the art of invisibility as a child living with her parents and surviving their loveless marriage and countless arguments. Her father can never forgive her mother for leaving and Antonia is a constant reminder of her mother's sins. Movies become her escape, her refuge, and ignites her dream of becoming a screen writer. I loved how this story unfolded. It is typical Daniel Steele in the way that a good person has bad things happened to them, they overcome, more bad things happen, but with means and money, and perseverance, they overcome once again, and live happily ever after. If you like happy endings, you'll love this book! And I truly found this story unique and enjoyable to read. Is Danielle Steele is truly the ultimate storyteller.

Another Danielle book with a strong Female protagonist who is emotionally neglected as a child but overcomes the adversity to lead a peaceful quiet successful life.
All in all a bittersweet/heartwarming story.
Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Delacorte Press and the Author, Danielle Steele for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book despite the repetition written into it. Antonia is a young child who chooses to become invisible when she realizes that her parents arguments are more than she can handle. After her mother leaves her father, Antonia continues to hide. Her father is unable to separate his hatred for his ex-wife from his daughter. It is her invisibility that shapes her life as she goes out to achieve her dreams.

I thoroughly enjoyed the character of Antonia. I felt for her during this book, but often wished she would stand up for herself.

Again Danielle Steel just wrote a book like she was talking to you. Hardest any “talking” between characters. It had a good storyline but seemed drawn out in parts and quickly gone through in other parts.

Another great book by a fantastic author.

All Antonia wants is to be invisible. That's what she learned to be growing up in with a wealthy father and model mother.
A great read. by a great author. You won't want to miss this one!

Invisible by Danielle Steel

Danielle Steel never disappoints. I have a lot of her books and they are all great.

This was another great read.

I have read all of Danielle Steel's relatively recent releases. I truly have a love hate relationship with her books. Some of them I really enjoy and some just don't make the cut. This book, is unfortunately one of the latter. As with most of her books, this is a relatively short book that follows a basic story outline. To be a shorter book, there was a lot that happened, and nothing the happened at the same time. The pacing of this story went very fast and there was no major development on any of the events. Danielle Steel writes about 4 books a year, and I really wish that she would go to writing fewer books and focusing more on each book. The books are starting to read like they're being rushed. This book unfortunately is one of my least favorite of hers that I have read.

Yet another hit out of the park for Danielle Steel. My heart went out to Antonia, abandoned by her mother and just about by her father. Over the years she's realized that it's easier to hide and be invisible to not cause any problems. Just as she's found love and happiness, tragedy strikes and she has to figure out how to continue on. Such a good and wonderful read, quite a few tough spots to read, but they are handled perfectly in the story and serve as the impetus Antonia needs to move forward. Highly recommend if you like Danielle Steel and her women's fiction.

Antonia Adams grows up is a home devoid of love. Her mother did not want her and takes off when Antonia is seven years old. Her father is left to raise Antonia. He resents the child because every time he looks at her, he sees her mother. Her parents’ constant arguing made her retreat. Antonia was careful not to catch their attention because she did not want to be on the receiving end of either of their anger. Each week she goes to the movies and becomes immersed in them. She dreams of one day becoming a screenwriter. Antonia gets an internship with a famous British filmmaker. He needs to a fill a role and Antonia is perfect for it. Before she knows what is happening, Antonia is shooting a scene. Soon Antonia finds herself cast in another role for the same director. They work closely together and the pair fall in love. A tragic accident occurs causing Antonia must make a life altering decision. Is the limelight for Antonia or will she become invisible once again? Invisible by Danielle Steel contains good writing and the story moves along at a good pace. The characters are developed and realistic. I found Invisible to be a pleasant novel, but it is not my favorite of Danielle Steel’s. It was a nice diversion, but it is a book that I can easily put down and walk away from. There was a repetition of information throughout the book (I find that irksome). Invisible dealt with some difficult topics in a good way. I did not necessarily agree with all of the choices that Antonia made, but they made sense to her which is what counts. I have been reading Danielle Steel’s books since I was twelve years old, and I will continue to read them. I find some of her books to be just wonderful while others are okay. The beauty of this author’s books is that they appeal to a wide variety of people. I am looking forward to her next novel. Invisible is an escapist tale with a movie mad mother, a frigid father, a sympathetic stepmother, a steadfast friend, an unanticipated career, a terrible tragedy, and an unforeseen future.

Danielle Steel has an unusual rhythm to her writing - it's more 'tell' than 'show', contrary to beliefs of what makes good writing. But for her books, it works. She tells interesting stories with pretty people that allow the reader to escape for awhile to a different life. This book follows her usual formula of good things happening, bad things, good things, horrible things, and finally - happy ending. It all makes for enjoyable reading.

“Knowing how unwelcome she was, she simply made herself small, tucked herself in somewhere, and disappeared. She always felt safe when she did. It was the only time she felt safe in the loveless world she lived in.”

Antonia Adams was born to two parents who should never have had children. When she finally leaves home to attend college, her world opens up and she sees the best and worst of the people she hid from her entire young life.

This was a well written, heartbreaking story. The characters were well developed and most were very relatable. It was very hard to understand Antonia’s horrible parents, but so easy to sympathize with Antonia through each stage of her life.

Thank you Danielle Steel, Delacorte Press - Random House and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this ARC. #Invisible #NetGalley

INVISIBLE
BY: DANIELLE STEEL

This was a heartbreaking novel from start to finish, but one that I enjoyed because not everything was wonderful and it had a more authentic feel. Brandon who is an American visiting Paris meets a dazzling young women who they get married. His wife wants to be an actress and when she gets pregnant she is miserable because the baby is interfering with her dream. She is very narcissistic and soon Brandon feels like he made a mistake marrying her because she hates being a wife and mother to their daughter Antonia. Antonia made me feel so sorry for her because she often hid or disappeared because she felt like her mother flew into rages because she thought being a wife and mother was keeping her from becoming an actress. Brandon spends more and more time away from their apartment working to avoid fighting with his wife. He is a very successful business man and has made a fortune in developing successful companies. Antonia tries to stay small and hidden and feels it is safer for her to be invisible. She has heard her parents fight and feels it is her fault.

I felt that Antonia was such a well behaved child but my heart went out to her as no child deserves to be treated to feel unwanted as her mother makes abundantly clear. Her father is always away so Antonia is left alone and constantly hiding so as to feel safe. Suddenly her mother deserts both her marriage and her only child and Brandon can't believe how selfish his wife is and feels like he made a huge mistake by bringing this cold Parisian women into his life and he agrees that his marriage is a disaster. He is left to take care of their daughter. Brandon becomes obsessed with working and hires a live in babysitter to take care of Antonia. Antonia was only a child when her mother abandoned her and her father and Brandon becomes remote and closed off from his daughter. I worried that Antonia would grow up and have issues with attachment since both parents never made her feel wanted or loved. Normally when a child prefers to be invisible so as not to be seen and heard and most of all loved they grow up and have problems with relationships since they can't trust that they are unworthy of love.

Antonia is a well behaved child and fears that her father could possibly send her away since she is a reminder of the woman he married that had turned out to be a mistake. Antonia spends all of her Saturdays going to the movies by herself when she is not reading. She hopes she will see her mother on the screen. Antonia also writes and dreams of going to college and becoming a screenwriter. The years pass and finally her father meets a kind woman named Lara who can see that Antonia's father blames her for what her mother did. Lara is warm and tries to include Antonia with outings with her and Antonia's father. Her father has become remote with Antonia and she feels as if he can't wait for her to go off to College. I was surprised at how well adjusted Antonia is and she has plans of going to study in California at a prestigious screenwriter program. Her father wants her to attend College locally and pick a more practical career like a lawyer or an accountant. Antonia with Lara's help gets accepted at a New York University where she is close to home.

She is extremely focused on her goals and her father warns her that if she becomes an actress he will never speak to her again. Antonia has no plans on being an actress because she doesn't want to be visible. She prefers to make scripts and write screenplays and maybe become a movie producer or a director. She is beautiful and meets young men in College that are studying to become actors and she is urged to become an actress which she has no interest. I again can't emphasize enough how well adjusted and likable Antonia is after being so neglected by her mother and then her father. She is determined to study hard and she isn't interested in dating, but she meets a nice young aspiring actor who invites her to spend Christmas in San Francisco and she agrees and it turns out to be the best Christmas she has ever had. There isn't any romance the young actor and her develop a mutual respect and become life long friends. Antonia feels like she is even more unwanted when her father turns her bedroom into a home office. It is Lara who tries to include Antonia and her father is only interested in his new wife and feels his job is finished with Antonia away at College.

I was so amazed at how Antonia was so successful having been a witness to her mother and father's constant fighting and growing up knowing her mother abandoned her to become an actress. Then her father became so indifferent to her treating her with so much indifference. I felt terrible for Antonia but seeing as this is fiction she overcame her terrible childhood. This was interesting and a lighter read for me that I still enjoyed because of the resilience and triumph over adversity. I needed a break from some of the heavier novels and Non-Fiction that I had been reading before this. Danielle Steel can be somewhat repetitive, but this was a book that was well written and different than most of her books in everything wasn't perfect. In Antonia she has created a unique character who is able to thrive despite her cold mother and then her father's neglect to show her any warmth. This is just the beginning of Antonia's life trajectory. What I have included in this review will not reach spoiler territory as it is just the beginning. I would rate this about 4.5 stars. I am so grateful to have read this as it was imaginative and was unpredictable. I read this Author's book "Beautiful," which was powerful and this was enjoyable but not as in depth. Still all in all I won't soon forget this and it is one of this Author's favorite novels. I would recommend this and I loved Antonia. You will have to read this for yourself to find out how the story reaches its arc.

Danielle Steel is one of my go to authors and it amazes me not only how many books she has written, but also how many different topics she finds to write about. Invisible strays from her most recent books, but in a more positive way. We are still presented with a strong woman protagonist as the main character, but this one seems more down to Earth than the others. Antonia Adams is easy to be drawn to, to feel emotional toward, to root for, to be captivated by as she grows and matures. It is surprising and amazing that a girl who grew up hiding away making herself invisible every day became so ambitious and motivated, so driven and successful. Also typical of Steel, this novel focuses on family and the intricate relationships between the family members, and this family has its share of good and bad. I felt emotional when reading how her father treated her, how she was feeling as a result of the actions of her father and her mother, of situations she found her naive self put into, when falling in love, when reaching her dreams, when seeing her become the woman she dreamed of being. I was definitely attached to Antonia and her life and truly enjoyed reading this novel. I really like this writing style by Steel.

Invisible by Danielle Steel is another one of her fabulous standalone novels. Invisible follows the life of Antonia Adams, starting with her childhood, where her parents totally ignored her, since their marriage was a total failure. Her mother left when she was very young, wanting to be an actress, and her father neglected her, especially with his hatred of his wife. Antonia always hid when they argued, and learned to make herself “invisible”, by reading books and later when she was older, going to movies, which was her escape and eventual love. It was her love of movies and the stars, the led to her dream of being a screenwriter. Her father, who was wealthy, was always willing to give her money to have what she needed, and when she graduates, he pays for her to go to NYU film school. In her late teenage years, Antonia allowed herself to be happy, when her father remarried, Lara, and they became very close; though he still constantly expressed his hatred of the mother, giving Antonia a hard time.

Antonia gets a summer job at a studio in California, being a gofer for the most part, but ended up meeting assistants of a famous British filmmaker, who began to notice her simple beauty. She returns the following summer to work for the filmmaker, and he pushes her to make cameo appearances in his movies, since he feels she would be a star. Thrust into the public eye, does not sit well with Antonio, as she still wants to be “invisible”. In a short period of time, Antonia and Hamish (filmmaker) fall in love and get married. He totally understands her need to disappear for a few hours, when the need arises, and helps her make her dream to be a screenwriter & director behind the scenes a reality. Antonia ends up having two children, and tragedy will strike that will once again change her life.

What follows is a wonderful story that is emotional and heartwarming, with a wonderful heroine, and fantastic characters. Antonia despite her hard life early on, and her need to always be safe, learned to become a well-known director and screenwriter, as well as allowing herself to be happy and loved. Invisible was very well written by Danielle Steel, and I wholly suggest you read this poignant story.

Antonia Adams, is a beautiful child that grew up caught between her fighting parents. Her mother, Fabienne, is French and her father, Brandon, is American. Fabienne always wanted to be an actress but Brandon wanted her to be a mother to their child. She refused and wasn’t interested in Antonia. Then she left him and moved to Los Angeles. Brandon never got over his hatred of his wife and ended up ignoring Antonia.

As a child, Antonia enjoyed going to the movies and wanted to be a screenwriter. She had no friends at school and was under the care of different babysitters. By the time Antonia was a teenager, Brandon had met and married Lara who looked out for Antonia and showed her love.

When she got to college, she studied hard hoping to achieve her goal of being a screenwriter. She got the chance to have some summer intern jobs in Hollywood as a gofer. She worked very hard and enjoyed everything she learned. That’s where she met director, Hamish. Although he was older than she was, he adored her and they finally married. Life was perfect for her but would it remain that way?

As always, Danielle Steel has written yet another masterpiece. She shows the greedy and cold mother than Fabienne was and how Brandon followed suit. We see a little girl ignored all of her life, learning to make herself invisible, yet maintaining her sanity. The people Antonia meets along the road of her life admire her for her beauty, strength, and talents. This book delves into all of that showing readers the sadness and the happiness that Antonia encounters in her life. I’m a huge fan of this author and am always excited to see what she has penned. This is a great book. Don’t miss it!
