I've read so many Danielle Steel books over the years and had the opportunity to read this one as a pre-release. The story of Antonia and her childhood was so carefully developed you could almost feel her loneliness. When she felt invisible it was understandable. This is my 41st book by Danielle Steel and once again, she did not disappoint. She tells the story about Antonia and her journey to adulthood from her horrendous childhood years. Her mom and dad are horrible parents from the get go. Why they had kids who knows!? Antonia beats all odds and grows up and becomes a very successful screenwriter/actress. I really enjoyed this story as only DS can write it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

Danelle Steele does it again! Her writing always makes me feel as if I am going through this with the characters. I can almost relate to Antonia childhood which sucked me in right from the beginning. Thank you for allowing me to read this beautiful work by her! Well done.

Everyone knows Danielle Steele for her steamy romantic stories. This is not that. Yes, there's romance, but the story is about love or more importantly, the lack thereof. This is a story about life. Be prepared to shed a few tears. There were situations that were sad and depressing, a lot like real life, but it isn't all doom and gloom.
Antonia Adams is the beautiful daughter of a passionate French mother, Fabienne Basquet, and American father, Brandon Adams. Fabienne was the product of an American soldier and Parisian mother during the French war. Brandon is smitten by Fabienne's outspokenness, her passion and beauty. She is nothing like the reserved, proper American girls back home. He's Harvard educated, an entrepreneur and business savvy. They predictably marry but, Fabienne's motives and dreams of stardom soon become apparent. Brandon will come to despise everything he loved about her.
When Fabienne becomes pregnant, her selfishness, beauty and relentless dream of stardom causes irreparable damage to the marriage.
Antonia is born into a home where it's easier and safer to be "invisible". This results in her becoming an introverted, shy and uncommunicative child. The story unfolds through her adolescent, teenage, young adulthood, marriage, the birth of her children and finally her later life. The "invisible" personality is ever present. There are so many lessons to be learned that I hardly know where to begin. It is a deeply moving and emotionally draining journey of an unloved, unwanted child. It is a story of love, not always kind or fair.
Brandon continues to financially provide for his daughter, but can only see Fabienne's traits and faults in Antonia. Wondered if the result would've been the same if she wasn't financially provided for. Having the funds for food and rent certainly made her life choices attainable.
Antonia has her own dreams of Hollywood. They are not in front of the camera, but behind it as a screenwriter. The author seamlessly addresses sexual harassment, gender bias and all that goes with the pursuit of being a celebrity. An insightful portrayal of womens treatment during the story's time period.
A very well-written literary work. A poignant and moving story that touched my heart and soul. Anyone who has children should read this and reflect on loving our kids more.

Invisible is a winner! If I said nothing else about this book, those four words would sum up my feelings about this book. We follow a young woman, Antonia Adams, from childhood to adulthood. The things that she has to endure as a child will break your heart, but she finds a way to endure the heartbreak. As a young adult, she discovers someone who loves her for her and embarks on a lovely journey, but of course, as we know, all good things come to an end…sometimes. Antonia manages to become the person she wants to be in spite of her upbringing and rises above her pain to eventually love again. Danielle Steel writes books that tug at your heartstrings, bringing you into the world of the characters and making you care about what happens to them. This book is no exception. It's been a while since I read a Danielle Steele title so it was a bit like coming home to this sweet story. This had everything you want in a breezy novel: romance, redemption, and coming into oneself. I really enjoyed reading!

Invisible by Danielle Steel is a pleasant story about a young woman who wants to be, and stay invisible. The timespan covers post-war Paris, and modern New York City.

Invisible covers the story of Antonia and follows her from her neglected childhood to her career in film. She’s the daughter of an aspiring actress and a businessman and grew up in a home where she was neglected. Her mother didn’t want a baby and eventually left the family to pursue an acting career. Her father blames her for his wife’s leaving and buries himself in his work, neglecting poor Antonia. She decides it’s best to stay invisible as that keeps her out of trouble. As she gets older she finds refuge in the movies and goes to the movies as often as possible. She decides she wants to be a screenwriter and applies to NYU film school.

I enjoyed Invisible, but it’s not one of my favorite Danielle Steel books. The romance between Antonia and her mentor, Hamish, was just a bit off. I don’t like romances where there is such a huge age gap, especially when the woman is so young at the start of the relationship. I understand that the author has a good reason for setting up Antonia and Hamish, as he’s a father figure for her, but it just didn’t sit right to me. But, others may not be as turned off by the relationship as I was. The story was good, but I never laughed out loud, or cried, or gasped, it was just a pleasant story that was just interesting enough to keep me turning the pages.

I did like the film business background information in the story as well as her time at NYU film school. I enjoyed Antonia’s stepmother, Lara, who tried her best to get her and her father back together. It was a nice book, and I don’t regret reading it. Also, I will continue to read books written by Danielle Steel as she usually writes books I really enjoy. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Antonia had a difficult childhood. Ger parents constantly argued and her mother left when she was young. Her father ignored her for the most part. Antonia wanted to write scripts and was accepted at a university in New York. While their she did an internship in California where she met a director who would change her life and ask her to act in one of his movies.

I have read all of Danielle Steel’s fiction books. That is a lot of books. I don’t necessarily remember all of them and quite often some of the books are a little “fluffier” or “lighter” than other books I read. But, they are just like life. We meet people that we may not always agree with or that may have different life experiences that we choose to have. Sure, I may not always like seeing a starry-eyed young girl (and I intentionally use the word, “girl”) fall in love with a man more than twice her age, but I know somewhere in the world, those things happen. They may not end up being wealthy heiresses or world-renowned writers, but in Danielle Steel’s books, they are.
It may sound like I don’t like the books by this author, but I do. Sometimes I need to get a vicious psychological thriller out of my head, or I have a lot going on in my life and need a book that provides a bit of an escape. I can sit back and appreciate that my life has been better than some of the main characters of these books.
Invisible is a story of a young woman who has learned to be invisible as a coping mechanism while growing up with some terrible parents. Unfortunately, she was never nurtured and loved or taught any street smarts. While she did get into some potentially dangerous situations, she did happen to work hard and also be in the right place at the right time. You know how the story goes.
It is a very comfortable, almost familiar story, like so many of the books written by Danielle Steel. A quick read for an afternoon and the perfect thing to transition between some heavier reads. Enjoy!

As I have said before, I have been a Danielle Steel fan since my teens! This book follows her typical romance style, but I still enjoyed it!

Antonia Adams who becomes the target of her parents' bitterness and hatred relishes the feeling of being invisible to the world. We follow Antonia as she goes through life being ignored by her parents making her reliant on herself. After her mother leaves to pursue her Hollywood dreams of becoming an actress, Antonia spends time getting lost in books and movies.

I can't wait for more from author Danielle Steel!

What can I say but, another winner from Ms. Steel!. You could feel Antonia's pain as she was growing up with a mother who hated and didn't want her and a father that didn't know how to love her. It took Hamish, a man old enough to be her father to fall in love with her and treat her like she deserved to be treated. Even after his untimely death, she still was able to live out her dream as a screenwriter and director and find love again. Kudos for another fantastic read. Ms. Steel never disappoints!

Danielle Steele never fails her writing her style and creativity.I was once again drawn in to the characters their lives. I will of course be recommending her latest unputdownable novel.#netgalley #randomhouse

Invisible by Danielle Steel
Story is about Antonia and since her mother walked out on their family she knows she hast to hide from them. She knows how to take care of herself since 7 and older.
Her father pays no attention to her, he's pissed off at the wife that left him and the daughter to go act in LA. There are tidbits of information about her throughout.
Antonia is able to persuade her father with his new wifes help to allow her to attend college and major in screenwriting. She has intern jobs in LA and hopes to locate her mother while there to no avail.
She's excellent at her job and others have an eye for her. One is a director and she learns a lot from him til they realize they are in love with one another while she's working on his film, even got her to act in the movie to please him.
She had a few more spots but all she wants to do is screenwrite. She works during her pregnancies. Tragedy occurs and she has no one to help her. Her relies on Lara her step mother and a lot of the others from the movie industry.
She is able to relocate the whole family to a huge farm in CT where she hopes to raise the children, ride horses and get a great education. Olympia her daughter wants to act and she's real good at it...
Dash heads to his own adventures in Africa and the family stays in touch with Antonia writes more writing.
Assistant director moves into her life once again and the kids really like having him nearby. She leaves to become invisible again after they celebrate her birthday.
She's just a low key person. So much to this story, it's a KEEPER.
Love how she was able to live her life after all the tragedies. Hate how the mother approached her later in life. so cruel.

Danielle steel takes us into a neglected child's life from a loveless marriage. Antonia Adam's goes through her childhood " invisible "hiding from the treats around her. But as an adult she has to fight her troubled childhood of being invisible to pursue her dreams of Hollywood. Antonia must decide if she wants to pay the high price of fame to pursue her dreams and stay true to herself.

Fantastic read from the master. All her books fascinate me she has such an excellent writing style. It sucks you in and doesn't let go.

Wonderful book. I really enjoyed the main character. Even though the main character went through a tough childhood, she never gave up and she achieved her goals. It teaches you never to give up on your dreams.

Well, honestly, this was a good story that got dragged out unnecessarily. The first 20% of the book could have been and SHOULD have been condensed into one or two chapters. Antonia and Hamish's romance and working team could have been fleshed out much more to give more substance to the story. Antonia's relationship with her children could have been written more. If I had paid for the advance copy, I would have been disappointed. Thank you NetGalley for the copy. Perhaps there is time for some changes before the book is actually published. I really liked the characters and would have liked to have known them better.

As always, Danielle Steel hits a home run. You can always count on her for a family drama that tugs at your heart and leaves you wanting an encore. Invisible was heart wrenching and touching all at once. The character development was strong and I felt for young Antonia reading about the abuse she endured and the losses she experienced. An enjoyable 4 star read.

Antonia Adams has been abandoned by her mother. Her father is still there but ignores and avoids her. He is just waiting for her to turn 18. As a small child, she learns that it is best to become invisible during her parents conflicts. As she grows, she continues to find comfort and safety in the being invisible. She spends her life reading and watching movies. It is there that she discovers her love for movies and screenwriting. “Invisible” continues to follow Antonia through her college years, falling in love and working to fulfill her dream.
“Invisible” provides an escape from everyday drama. It is the perfect book to curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee and spend the weekend lost in another world.
