Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review. Sadly the content within this book is not good for my mental health which I did not realise at the time so I am very sorry for that! I will give this 3 Stars as I couldn't review it properly. Apologies again!
A very Wicca based book. I had high hopes but it wasn't really for me. It did have some good information that I may pull and use in my practice but overall, it was not what I expected.
I was disappointed in this one unfortunately. This book relied heavily on Wicca. While that’s not my cup of tea I know others will enjoy this more than I did.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.
Another version of “how to become a witch” replete with the standard personal history (“...always knew I was different”) The reader has to reprise the usual Masonic-Golden Dawn-O.T.O lore, with a jumble of pantheistic, theaistic, hermetic, and neopagan nuggets served in no coherent order. As for the elements--nothing new here, move along.
An excellent book, well organized and informative. It made me think and I think it can be used by anyone regardless of their experience.
The explanations are clear and there's plenty of exercises.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I was kind of disappointed by this book, as the themes relied more heavily on wicca. I don't really appreciate the practice of wicca, so it was a bit difficult to get through. However, the bits and pieces I enjoyed were well thought out and very interesting. I wouldn't really go about recommending this to anyone, due to it's wiccan themes, but I don't regret reading!
I’m a Spiritual person, and I was very interested to see what would be in this book in hopes to further develop my craft. I’ll be honest and say that I didn’t learn much from it. I would recommend this to someone who is interested in learning more or historically/scientifically studying spirituality and/or modern witchcraft. She also comes from a very specific lens of a pentacle path.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Elemental witchcraft by Heron Michelle is a good book for someone who is interested in starting their witchcraft journey. This book explores Herons personal eclectic wiccan tradition that involves hermetic and chakra principles. This eclectic mix of belief systems gives the book its own type of magical praxis different from other beginners books. I enjoyed the amount of journal prompts and guided meditations included as well as the types of spells that are written in this book. It’s a good book for someone practicing the year and a day tradition.
This book does have some good points and things to do but is - to me - more Wicca based and would be great for those who identify as Wicca. Can get some points out of it just for the elements.
Can't say I've considered incorporating the elements into my craft much when I practice, but this books does give me a different way of including them. It's not my cuppa but I appreciate it.
This book has so much information about the elements and how to make them work for you..Great source of references for beginners and experienced practitioners alike for all libraries. I received this book from Net Galley and LLewellyn Worldwide for a honest review. This is it.
This book is a wealth of information and great for anyone working with elemental magic. There are also influences of alchemy for those interested in that. This book is a great launching point for a new practitioner, but a book that a seasoned witch will want to have in their arsory.
