The story itself is a compelling exploration of human relationships, filled with twists and turns that keep you invested until the very end. Whether you're a fan of romance or simply enjoy a well-narrated tale, this audiobook is sure to entertain and leave you wanting more.
this book is so different than what I thought it would be in the best way. I couldn't put it down and I loved the narrator. I highly recommend.
Love and Other Sins by Emilia Ares is one of those books where the audiobook narration amplifies an already engrossing story.
Note that there are several content warnings for this story: sexual assault, recollections of child abuse, discussions of suicidal thoughts, and mention of miscarriage.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.
📖My Thoughts📖
This is a YA romance book, but nothing at all like a typical one. It’s fairly deep with serious underlying themes which include rape, child abuse, miscarriage and even mention of abortion. I think it’s actually good that someone wrote a story with this particular premise. Why? Because it’s realistic for people to go through traumatic events and have them set the tone for future relationships. Life isn’t always hearts and roses and it’s important to not hide those things as if they’re totally taboo. If anything, it may bring a person to take a step back from a relationship and see that there may be reasons behind why their partner can become so distant or act a certain way towards specific scenarios. This was a pretty good book, though now I’m stuck with a huge cliffhanger which just sucks. Hopefully the next book comes out soon! I was granted the audiobook version of this story which included two narrators, Karissa Vacker and Will Collyer. They did a great job.
Thank you Netgalley, Emilia Ares and SERA Press for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for gifting me the audiobook of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I'm so sorry I didn't like this book because I was really looking forward to reading it.
I think this book is missing a plot and the characters didn't grow at all through it, especially Mina. I didn't even think it was romantic.
The problems were extremely easy to solve.
The open ending was not good, and I'm very sorry but I will not read the next books.
Thank you anyway for considering me for reading this book.
It took some time to get into this one, but sticking it out was worth it. This book features deeply flawed characters, but shows that even those people can be good. Our background informs us only to a certain extent, we are more than what has happened to us. This book is part of a series, so get ready to be shocked and waiting!
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* 3.5 I immediately liked mina (finally someone listening to audiobooks!) and i found a lot of this book really cool, but i likely would have liked it more if i read this like 10 years ago lmao over all pretty good but certainly more for teens imo
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for providing me with an ALC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was exactly what I wanted it to be! I loved it. I will make sure to check out other books by this author. When I requested this I was just intrigued by the concept of it and I loved how it turned out. This story had a great plot and if you have read this and enjoyed it, This was so much. It was such a great story. I would say give this one a try. I will continue to follow this author. Way to go to this author for not letting me down.
I highly enjoyed the narrator of the audiobook. Kept me listening.
This book didn't work for me. I wasn't a fan of Mina's character progression, and really fell out of love with her by the end.
The romance here felt pretty under developed, and rather un-believable. I never got the feeling these two were really into each other.
I didn't like the cliffhanger ending, and I don't know if that would be enough for me to continue with this
I found this one sort of infuriating. The love story is obvious and unnecessarily complicated. The attempts to make it a thriller are clumsy, pushing things too far. And then to end with a needless clff-hanger. There is no transition between thriller moments and the more reflective love story parts.

The audiobook was really fabulous with both voice talents, Karissa Vacker and Will Collyer, really embodying the characters with authenticity and vibrancy, making the story truly engaging. Highly recommended 🎧❤️
This story took me all the way back to my late teenage years, getting me reminiscing about those awkward, often self-centred, yet intense feels, where you're very much still learning about yourself and your own identity. Where your self is obviously still being formed and influenced by the swirling concoction of your upbringing, education, close friends, crushes, hopes, desires and passions.
This is not a light read and definitely recommended for young adults and up, it shines a stark, glaring light on the trauma that can be caused within the detention and foster "care" systems. All of the gentle hugs and love for Oliver, all of them.
I did zero research on this book beforehand, just found the cover and blurb appealing, and therefore had no idea that this was the first in a series until the very end of the book. It definitely left me wanting to know more about Mina and Oli and their burgeoning love. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
I read along with the eBook, which was much more successful in Netgalley Shelf than the ported version to the Kindle app which was missing so many characters it was barely legible, that might be useful info for other Netgalley newbies like myself.

Apologies for the late review life has been crazy.
This book covers very triggering subjects so do prepare for that when reading this book, please check trigger warnings.
Overall, I thought this was a really realistic depiction of pain and the way different people deal with their experiences from minor to major. I loved the way both our main characters interact and react with each other this was a masterpiece, it was beautiful. I will be looking into more work from this author because it broke me and built me back up again and it was so beautiful.
Unfortunately this book no longer appeals to me, young adult books have ben a struggle for me lately. I do appreciate getting this arc.
This books was great. It was full of emotion and felt real through out. It focuses on real life topics that are often ignored. Oh and the ending? It leaves you needing more!
This book had a great premise, but I can't say I enjoyed the execution. Oliver and Mina meet after both of them transfer to new schools for their senior year. Instantly, they feel a deep, unexplainable connection that only grows deeper when they experience something traumatic together.
What I liked:
-Mina's mom
What I disliked:
-Mina was great at the beginning, but I feel like her character development almost went backwards? I always get bummed out when characters start treating people with undeserved disrespect. Also, she was an AP student who sacrificed so much, yet she just is like "eh, whatever" once she gets to senior year?
-The ending. Because I don't want to read a second book.
I've seen a few reviews mention that they were shocked by some of the content, but I DO feel like this book actually gave a fair warning about triggers.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
💛 BOOK REVIEW 💛
Review: As some of you might (or might not) know, I don’t read blurbs. I got in blind! So this book was a surprise! It had so much depth to the characters, with tragic back stories, family drama, navigating school and young love. I was genuinely shocked how well the author did at weaving in all the elements without making me feel overwhelmed. HOWEVER! It was really really cruel to leave me on a cliffhanger at the end of the book! To be honest it didn’t make me want the second book, it just made me cranky. I need closure!
My sincerest thanks to the publisher and @netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a review
4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fantastic audiobook
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.
Yeah, I honestly couldn't finish this one. It just started out kind of bad. It turns you off instead of hooks you.
I wish my opinion was affected by the fact that audiobooks are not my thing, but I couldn't care less about the story itself. I didn't relate at all with the characters, and because of that the plot was kinda boring for me.
