gripping, addictive and completely unpredictable. I devoured this book in just one sitting. This is unique and pulled me in quickly. Well-written and able to transport the reader.
After escaping the Military Police ten years prior, Georgia Fell has now made her way back to her island community in Michigan. She arrives at her worst nightmare: Rachel is dead, with purple bruises around her slim, lovely neck. She was running late to meet her younger sister at the bar on the remote tip of the island. Georgia realizes it cannot be true when the cops rule out the murder. She has to confront the person she has avoided since getting home, which she does reluctantly. Lincoln McNamara is a single father who Georgia can’t forgive for betraying the night she left, but he has connections to the violent gang that operates out of the roadhouse where Rachel was killed. Can she trust him, that is the question. One more local girl vanishes before she can persuade Lincoln to assist her. How far into the shadows of island life does Georgia have to delve before learning the truth? And does she even have a choice when a helpless girl’s life is at stake?
What an exciting book that, despite a slow beginning, gradually picked up speed to reach the peak. My heart was seized by the intrigue, danger, and unsettling facts as this book approached its climax as if the roller coaster had suddenly dropped. The conclusion completely stunned me. Georgia has a lot of problems and a fascinating past; I’m interested in learning more about her. The story is filled with betrayals and moves along quickly. I can’t wait for book two because “The Darkwater Girls” has a lot of wicked creatures and shady antics.
From the beginning to the end, this suspenseful novel kept me on the edge of my seat and scratching my curiosity. With a persistent sense of danger, widespread corruption, and impending disaster as something horrible and vile was occurring right around the corner, the story was an uncomfortably prickly and gritty page-turner, but it was difficult to pinpoint what exactly that something was. The plot is engaging and is woven together into a fantastic story by well-drawn characters. These are flawed but likable and sympathetic individuals. The writing in this book is outstanding, and the vivid descriptions will have your heart racing and your tongue tasting salty from the sea.
This first book in a new series by Maegan Beaumont is a hit! Meet Georgia Fell, abandoned by her parents and raised by a reputable family, she is back home from serving as a detective in the military. By odd luck, she has the same last name as the wealthiest family on the island, and the matriarch leaves her money and estate to George. As the story unfolds, we learn about her teenage crush on the sun of her foster family (Lincoln) and how she overheard another of the girls (Jenna) in the family tell Lincoln that she's pregnant, Assuming the worst, George left the island. Now, she is dating the local Sheriff and trying to figure out what to do with her inheritance. When she discovers one of her sisters murdered, George starts uncovering the layers of the island community. Lincoln, now married to Jenna with a daughter he loves more than anything, has a criminal record and a wife who is a drug addict. Will George be able to figure out the mess that exists in the lives of people she loves? It's a story that keeps you glued until the end. I can wait to see what happens next with George!
This is my first book by this author and hot diggity I really was all in. From the first page I could not stop reading. I absolutely loved it. I pretty much figured it out early but honestly that didn’t matter. It was so dang good.
I’m completely hooked on Georgia and Linc. I can’t wait to read more. She is really a favorite character of mine.
I loved this book. It's a gripping and exciting read. Georgia Fell returns to her hometown of Angel Bay island. She's a product of the foster care system and she returns to claim her inheritance. However, she's more interested in her old friendships, lover and discovering why her foster sister has been murdered behind a notorious biker bar This fast paced and I was instantly hooked into the first few chapters. I loved reading this and will definitely read more of Maegan Beaumont's work. Thank to NetGalley for letting me read and review this great book.
Wow, this book was chaotic and I loved every second of it. There is just so much drama for such a tiny Island. I did guess the main twist but I had no idea how it would be proved. Plus there were so many other characters that I didn’t know who else couldn’t be trusted. It’s a fast paced read that sunk its teeth into me and I could not put it down. I finished it in a day. I really enjoyed Georgia’s character and I was so invested in her and Lincoln’s stormy relationship. His little girl was also an adorable addition to the story. I need more from this series asap. I will also be reading more of Maegan Beaumonts work as I really enjoyed her writing style.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
The darkwater girls by Maegan Beaumont.
Georgia Fell Book 1.
Recognition hits me as I look at the woman lying in the long grass. It’s my sister. Her hot-pink nails are chipped, her blue eyes are cold and vacant. I desperately shake her, even though I know. She’s gone.Georgia Fell is forced to return to her Michigan island hometown after a decade of military service away from her family. It’s time to end the years of silence and meet her younger sister at a bar on the isolated tip of the island. But Georgia arrives to a scene of devastation: Rachel is dead, purple bruises around her slim, beautiful neck.Georgia is beside herself with grief. But when the police rule out murder, she knows it can’t be true and vows to hunt down her sister’s killer, no matter the cost. Even if it means turning to the last person she ever wants to see again.Single dad Lincoln McNamara is the reason Georgia ran away ten years ago, but he has an in with the crew operating out the roadhouse where Rachel was killed. The question is, can she trust him?But before Georgia can act, her heart shatters at the news that another of her sisters has been murdered. Why would a twisted killer be targeting her family? Are more of the people she loves at risk, and could it be connected to her return? How many more innocent lives will be lost before Georgia uncovers the devastating truth?
Absolutely brilliant. I loved the story and most of the characters. Georgia was my favourite character. I wasn't sure how I felt about Lincoln or Will or Alex. I'm looking forward to the next book. 5*.
I started reading this book and let's just say I got nothing else done till I finished it. I was so captivated by the storyline that I couldn't stop reading! I really like the main female Georgia Fell and hope that there will be plenty more books in this series! I would definitely recommend this book. It was a definite page turner!!!
This is a book that’s described as unputdownable. I 100% agree. I literally skipped all the cleaning I needed to do so I could read this in one day!
Holy, moly, Maegan Beaumont is new to me but now on my radar! I can’t wait for more of the Georgia Fell series!
I never knew I needed Georgia Fell in my life until I read this book, and I can not wait for more! I could not put this book down and I finished it in one day.
A fast paced, addictive read, about former foster child, Georgia Fell, and the politics and coverups in her small hometown. When Georgia discovers that one of her foster siblings has been murdered she will stop at nothing to learn the truth.
There is so much to say about this book, yet no words at good enough to explain how amazing this book is. The plot twists that have you questioning who is and is not involved. The events leading up to the big reveal make you question what you know about even Georgia herself. The characters and their relationships leave you wanting more.
When is book #2 coming out? I need it now!

This is the first book I have read by Maegan Beaumont but it certainly won't be my last. I absolutely loved it. A suspense thriller it certainly is! I was hooked from the first page. I couldn't wait to get home from work to turn more pages. It is the first in a new series and I can't wait for the next one.
The Darkwater Girls by Maegan Beaumont is the first book in the Georgia Fell series and what an excellent book this was. I was hooked from the beginning till the end. This new series was full of twists and turns, fast paced with lots of action going on throughout; just had me gripped.......It was everything you need to start a good series of books.
I highly recommend this new series by Meagan.......Looking forward to the second book in the new Georgia Fell series.

Maegan Beaumont can do no wrong. Excellent read!
5/5
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!!!
I have not read a book by Ms. Beaumont I have not loved! She took some time away from writing suspense and I have to say I MISSED HER!
So glad she’s back to writing some suspense novels.
Once again she doesn’t disappoint! A must read for all!
I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller. The writing draws you in immediately and doesn’t let you go until the very end. I loved getting to know Georgia and the others in her community and the dynamics between all of them. The characters are real, flawed, but likeable (for the most part). So many secrets, lies, and coverups to keep you hooked. A few of the “twists” were predictable but still good. Looking forward to the next one.
Wow what an incredible start to a series! I cannot wait to see what the author delivers next as in my opinion this was sheer perfection. Loved loved loved. Great great read.
Interesting characters, town full of secrets, reunited loves, and a twisty murder case- what’s not to love?! I enjoyed the characters and getting to know this chaotic town full of secrets. The case was perplexing and very interesting. I look forward to reading more in this series, this was a great start! I loved the addition of foster care , as its an underrepresented audience. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I have read from this author and what a way to start. This is a new series and I am waiting for the next book. Georgia or George, as she is sometime called, has come back home. She was in the foster care system her whole life, even being dubbed the Angel Bay Baby. she returns after leaving the MP's, I feel there is more to that and hope we find out in later books. The home town she returns to has changed alot, even her first love Lincoln. But everything is not as it appears. This touched on some harsh realities of drugs, rape and human trafficking. I enjoyed it and as I stated above, look forward to the next installment.
Georgia Fell had been in the foster care system for years. Seventeen placements, in fact. One thing she always did before her next placement was to give the same SOS message to her many foster siblings. If they were in any kind of trouble, she would be there to help. It is ten years later and Georgia finds herself back where she thought she'd never go again. There are events of the past that she must uncover in order to find justice for her sister Rachel, who she found dead.
Georgia is forced to deal with her feelings as the man she once was in love with was the very man who raped Jenna, one of her foster sisters. She never planned on setting foot on the island again, but she received an inheritance. Meanwhile, Georgia finds herself at the Devil's Den in order to rescue Jenna. Things definitely were not as she expected, because that is exactly how and where she found Rachel.
Georgia's boyfriend Alex is the village sheriff and he rules the cause of death something other than Georgia thinks it is. This creates a conflict between them, so Georgia looks for answers on her own. When Jenna was assaulted those years ago, she had a daugther named Savanna. What was happening to the girls in the group home where Georgia once lived, and what is going on with Jenna and Savanna now?
What a thrilling book that might have started of slow, but then that reminds me of a roller coaster slowly rising to the top. As this book reached a crescendo the intrigue, danger and disturbing truths it grabbed my heart as if the roller coaster made a rapid drop. The conclusion truly floored me. Well done Meagan Beaumont. What a perfect book for a new series.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
New series that I think will be a good one….full of twists and turns, fast paced with lots of action going on.
The main.character is Georgia and she is full of spunk! She knows what she wants and has no qualms going for it….no matter who or what gets in her way.
Overall, a interesting mystery with a slow start but eventually the story takes off.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
