This was an absolutely amazing Rom com that is perfect for the autumn season. We all want to be a Boss Witch and this novel really gives light into what it would truly be like.. with a dash of love and fun.
This one was so fun and I absolutely adored this witchy world. I’m so excited for the rest of the series.
If you are looking for a good with romance with fun characters and fabulous romance, this could be the book for you. There is banter and intrigue, and of course some witchy romance. It’s fun and entertaining.
This was my first time reading this author. Cute story. A nice spooky palette change from my usual genre.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Boss Witch featured an interesting premise with a romance between a witch and a witch hunter.
Clementine Waterhouse has always been the responsible one, the one to take charge. She never goes into a situation without a plan and she certainly doesn't fall headlong into love. At least that was the case until the witch hunter came to town. Gavin Rhys hates being a witch hunter but it's a family tradition and he doesn't want to be like his grandfather, a traitor who helped the other side. But the situation in St. Claire isn't what it seems and Gavin begins to question what he's really doing there. When he meets Clem he quickly becomes more interested in her than he does in finding the witches hiding in town. Can there really be a happily ever after for a witch and a witch hunter?
The premise of Boss Witch, a witch and a witch hunter falling in love, sounded like it would be entertaining so I was looking forward to picking this one up. Ultimately the book didn't work for me but it wasn't because of the premise. The whole witch hunter thing was actually pretty interesting and I enjoyed learning more about how they came to be and how their organization worked. Gavin uncovers a lot of old secrets about the witch hunters and brings about a lot of changes by the end of the book. I found those revelations to be pretty neat and I liked the direction the author took that part of the plot.
The romance between Clem and Gavin is where this book fell apart for me. The book started off the with two having amazing chemistry and I loved the scene between them at the bar right after Gavin arrives in town. Unfortunately after that their chemistry dried up and I didn't buy the connection between them at all. There were a few cute moments like when Clem bought him a mouse as he'd never had a pet before but a few cute moments isn't enough for me to buy in to the romance. I didn't like all the lying since Clem knew he was the hunter but he initially didn't know she was a witch. I was hoping it was going to go the route of they both knew the truth and then they'd fall for each other despite knowing it's forbidden. By the end of the book I found myself just not caring about the pair's romance.
Overall while Boss Witch had some interesting moments, the romance ultimately didn't work for me.
This is the second volume in Ann Aguire's Fix-It Witches series. It's an easy book to read, and I finished it in one sitting. I am completely engrossed in this, the second book in the Fix-It Witches series. This one was amazing to me. You will laugh aloud when you read about Clem and her fellow witches. Clem is sick of being caught up in the drama in the family and fixes electronics with her cousin. As the witch hunter arrives in town, she keeps you on your toes. Gavin is a witch hunter who challenges all of his knowledge. You are guided through all the ups and downs between witches and witch hunters by two opposing sides and a powerful pull. Their intense chemistry heats up the pages as Clem tries to divert Gavin off her fellow witch's path. The dynamics of this one are fantastic. You'll laugh at the family turmoil. Surprises abound with Gavin and Clem. Read about what transpires when a witch falls for a witch hunter, and everything comes to pass. If you enjoy a little bit of magic, the law of attraction, and belly-laughing good times

An excellent sequel that continues to build the world and introduce interesting characters. A fun light read and one I'd recommend.
Clem and Gavin were not my favorite romance characters at first. Both were prickly and at times quite unlikable, but as you got to know them and see more of their backstory, you came to appreciate who they were and why they acted like they did. I enjoyed watching them grow over the course of the book and develop into a believable and loving couple. Aguirre has a knack for fleshing out her characters and making them whole people.
“Boss Witch" is the latest in the Wolfies of West Texas series, and focuses on Gwen, a witch who leads a werewolf pack. Gwen is a strong and independent character, who is not afraid to take charge and protect her pack from any danger that comes their way.
The author, Ann Aguirre, does an excellent job of creating a vivid and immersive world that is both fascinating and dangerous. The supernatural elements of the story are seamlessly integrated into the plot, making it feel like a natural part of the world.
The romance between Gwen and the human sheriff, Will, is steamy and well-developed. Their relationship is both intense and heartwarming, and you can't help but root for them throughout the book.
Overall, "Boss Witch" is a great addition to the "Wolfies of West Texas" series, and it will leave you eagerly anticipating the next installment. If you're a fan of paranormal romance, action-packed stories, and strong female leads, then this book is definitely worth reading.
I love this series! This was a great addition. I love the characters and the setting. This was the perfect spooky time palate cleanser as well.
An amazing book with a bisexual witch and a witch hunter! Loved the romance and the steamy scenes too!
I was pleasantly surprised by this entry in Aguirre's witchy series. It was more quickly paced than Witch, Please, and really opened up with more world building. I'm looking forward to future installments.
This is part of the Fix-it Witches Series, being book number two of four.
I enjoyed that we were able to get a second pov of the events that occurred in the first book, yet it was completely different. Sometimes reading the story of a side character doesn't always work but I think that for this one it was pretty good, it was at least at the level the first one. I think you could get away with not having read the first book for the most part since the author does a good job at giving background information but even then I do think that it would be better to have read the first part.
Like I said this book could have been a standalone, Clementine was a pretty strong character but that's something that came through even in the first part when the focus wasn't on her. We got a glimpse of her falling for Gavin but in this book we finally get to see how their love actually progressed. What began as a ploy to get Gavin distracted turned into her falling for him little by little. I have to say that what I enjoyed was reading about a couple that weren't together because of something real and not just a misunderstanding. Its been a while since I've read a romance book where the problem would have been so easy to solve if they just had better communication. Here at least I can see the hesitation that Clementine has to accept her feelings for him and the reason why Gavin takes such a long time to make his way back to her. It was also nice to see a male character that repented from his past mistakes, Sometimes in romance I see women being the ones that have to change the most for their relationship to work but in this case it was Gavin who had to give up his way of life to be able to have a future with Clementine.
We also get more LGBTQ+ representation in this book, its been a while since I read the first book but from what I remember it seemed that the representation was just there to say that it was inclusive, I'm assuming that wasn't the case as to why it was added but there wasn't something about it... In this book we also get the representation but I think it was done way better and I enjoyed it more. I'm not sure exactly why though, maybe it just fit better with the story.
overall the story was cute, and a quick read. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
This is a 4.5⭐️ because like the first book there’s some spoilers for the next book to come. First book had spoilers for Gavin & Clem’s romance and now this book not only has spoilers for Leanne & Trevor but also Dante & Margie! So beware for those spoilers while reading these books.
I do like these characters and I did really like Boss Witch the most! I really loved Gavin!
I am obsessed with Ann Aguirre's Galactic Love series and am on a mission to read everything else she's published. I enjoyed Witch Please, the first book in the Fix-It Witches series, and have been excited to read more.
Boss Witch is the second installment following Clementine Waterhouse, a witch, and Gavin Rhys, a witch hunter. Clem is trying to throw Gavin off the scent of the town's coven which spirals into a fake dating situation (that he thinks is real).
This book's timeline runs parallel to the first and even though I'd read book one I often found myself confused or feeling like I was missing information if I couldn't perfectly recall the events of the first book.
I think Aguirre is tackling some important themes around prejudice here, but it also made me uncomfortable that Clem's plan from the start was to sexually distract someone with such a hatred for her people and hard to buy into their love story. It felt like a different set up or trope could've allowed the book to explore that better, especially if Gavin had learned the truth of her identity sooner and we had more room for growth.
That said, I remain a fan of Aguirre even on the rare miss and still am eager to read more in this series.
A great and witchy sequel to the first book, this one puts you right back in the action and the romance is top notch! Brilliant writing and a great quick read!
such a spooky read. perfect for Halloween time. I loved the witchy aspect and how much of a badass the mc was. I couldn't get enough of her! loved it.
This was unfortunately a letdown for me. I had really high hopes as I really enjoyed the first book in this series but I was left wanting and a little confused by this installment.
This is a really fun paranormal light rom-com. It was a fun escapism trip and the characters were a good time. I would recommend this for readers who aren't hardcore fantasy readers but want a little magic in their lives. The pace moved well and the story keeps you interested.
DNF
unfortunately i had to dnf this book, even though i really looked forward to reading this. I just could not get into it.
