As a busy working mom, Two Little Girls by Laura Jarratt is the kind of emotional thriller that kept me up late, unable to put it down. The story starts with a heart-wrenching dilemma when Lizzie's car crashes with her two daughters inside, forcing her to make an unthinkable choice. As Lizzie recovers, she’s left to deal with the fallout of that night, from a police investigation to the emotional unraveling of her family.
Jarratt’s writing is gripping and filled with tension, and I found myself deeply invested in unraveling the mystery of what truly happened on that isolated country road. The themes of family secrets, guilt, and the lengths a mother will go to protect her children make this a powerful, thought-provoking read.
Final Thoughts:

"Two Little Girls" is a compelling and unputdownable thriller that will leave readers breathless, showcasing Jarratt's talent for crafting riveting suspense and compelling characters.
It’s like Sophie’s choice in a book! Holy moly this was a great read. Lizzie is driving home with her two daughters in the car and is suddenly run off the road by another car. She only has time to save one of her girls. Tough read as a mama myself especially going through and reading how the choice affects her and her family. Her husband. Her surviving daughter. Everyone’s life is changed. And who was the other driver? So many feelings going through this but a fantastic read!
This was a great read and the ending is not something you would expect. The writing and the editing are very good and the book was definitely intriguing. I highly recommend to everyone to read this! thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very well written book. It was heartbreaking at times, but also hopeful. I liked reading through their journey of healing and the mystery was entertaining as well as the conclusion.
A brilliant read that had me engrossed right from the very start. This is a complete page turner that i couldn’t put down.
This book was such an emotional roller coaster and I loved it. Highly recommend this book. I was hooked.
The beginning of this had me hooked and I wanted to keep reading to find out what was happening. It was the ending/resolution that I really struggled with. I won’t give away any spoilers, but let’s just say as a mother, I found this to be really disturbing and not at all realistic. That’s all I’ll say on this one.
📖My Thoughts📖
This was such a great book! I don’t know how to even begin to describe it without giving anything away. It was intense, gripping, and so much more. I loved how the book pulled me in and kept me guessing. This book really brought on some strong emotions for me, and was also very thought provoking. I wondered so many times how I would react if I was in a similar situation and I honestly just hope that I never have to find out. This was very well written. There was some really deep topics that could very easily be triggers for some, including infertility issues, death of a child and bullying. Overall this is one of the best books I’ve read this year. If you haven’t read it, I strongly suggest you pick it up!
Thank you Netgalley, Laura Jarratt and Sourcebooks Landmark for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This was such an intense book! I loved everything about it and have shared it so many times with others around me. I feel like this is going to be one of those reads that I will be talking about for a long time.
PROS: The twists in this book were insane and kept me guessing throughout the entirety of it.
CONS: nothing
This was a really different read, twisty, sneaky and had me hooked ! I really enjoyed this one and would definately reach more by Laura Jarratt! Bravo! 4 stars from me!
Whoa! This book put me through every possible emotion. This book centers on the worst fear of every parent, the death of one of your children. Then imagine that you have to choose which of your children to save. Yea, just think about that for a minute!
In this story, Lizzie has to make a choice that no one should ever have to face. Choose between two of your children's lives that are in imminent danger. A trip that begins with two daughters, and only one comes home. Two Little Girls is a dark, emotional ride that will leave your heart in tatters. I literally had tears in my eyes the whole time. I can only describe this book as heartbreaking and something I don't ever want to have to think about in real life. However, in this story, we realize how easily something like this could happen, and then how are we supposed to go on with our own life? My heart broke for this mother over and over during this story. The overwhelming guilt, sadness, and disbelief that she went through, and then she is charged with a crime on top of all of that. This book is truly a rollercoaster of emotions, and the ending will leave you whispering wow as you get to the final page.
Lizzies car crashes with her two daughters inside,
She tries to save them both but really knows only one has a chance.
Who does she choose to live?
As the family comes to grip with the tragedy Lizzies marriage is put under strain.
It is obvious someone is out to get them ,but who ?
An exciting read with a few twists as it goes along.

Lizzie Fulton seemed to have it all – a successful career as a barrister, a loving husband and two beautiful daughters until their lives irrevocably change after an accident. With such a loss, Lizzie tries to navigate her way through absolute grief while deciphering how and why it all happened.
“This is a battle of wits now, to find out who is responsible, and I have to win it. I have to remember who I used to be.”
Narrated from primarily from Lizzie’s POV, the timeline shifts from the present and the past and this structure helps to build different layers of emotions. Experiencing Lizzie’s pain and seeing how the family dynamic breaks down is heart wrenching but also cathartic. As the plot progresses, the cause of the accident adds to the tension.
Interestingly, throughout this book I wasn’t expecting to feel conflicting opinions about the characters, especially given their circumstances. As for the mystery component, I solved that part early on, so the reveal didn’t have much impact for me, but what happens after was interesting and I certainly empathized with the characters. Overall, I enjoyed this story and the human emotional component, as everyone has a breaking point.
Two Little Girls is a story about the pain and recovery of loss. This book would appeal to those seeking an emotional read.
Elizabeth (Lizzie) Fulton’s seemed to have it all until a single decision changed the course of her life. The tragedy slowly unraveled the threads that been holding her family together, and it was up to her to find the truth that could set them free.
I enjoyed the overall storyline and the characters. However, I felt detached from the husband Dan. I also thought the suspense aspect of the story could play out stronger in enriching the plot.
What I liked the most about this book is the various moral dilemmas faced by the characters and how they handled the actions and decisions made. It was a harrowing experience for any family to handle.
Two Little Girls is a story of surviving trauma and absolution. It would appeal to readers who enjoy domestic fiction with the elements of mystery/suspense.
It's challenging to provide too many details without revealing the story's ending! Although it was a challenging read emotionally, I found myself engrossed the entire time.
This was a really good tragic and heartbreaking story. Very well written, and with each turn of the page, left me wanting more.
It's hard to give too many details without giving away the plot of the story! It was a difficult read, as far as emotions go, but it kept me captivating from beginning to end.
Lizzie is driving home with her two daughters when they get into an accident and she can only save one and has to make an impossible choice.
I enjoyed how we got to see how each family member dealt with the loss and liked the way they handled the mental health issues that came up in the book.
I was super intrigued about what actually caused the accident and who was in the other car. However once we find out, I didn’t love the ending, it didn’t seem super realistic to me.
Overall this was a good read! Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark & NetGalley for this ARC.
