This book was a wonderful read with a great romance, complex characters, and a sensitivity to tough subjects. The relationship between Alexis and Daniel is swoon-worthy. While their time together started out as something physical and blossomed into a more emotional connection, I appreciated that the novel did not rely too heavily on detailed bedroom action to show the heat between these character. So much of their relationship and spark was about seeing another world and how characters treated each other. Daniel and the town of Wakan seemed like the perfect escape for anyone bogged down by life.
The novel tackles subjects like the complexities of the divide between their worlds (small town vs city, working class vs upper class) and discussions about different forms of abuse in relationships and having toxic people in your life. The author has a way of blending these tough topics without becoming preachy or too heavy in an otherwise light and fun novel. The writing style also made for a very quick read. I found the novel easy to get into with characters, both main and supporting, that I cared about. This was the first book I've read in a while that I couldn't put down. While this is the first book of hers that I've noticed a touch of magic, it was subtle and sweet and ultimately magical. I look forward to the sequel and highly recommend this book.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I spent last Sunday trying to get from New Orleans to Rhode Island for Easter. I was up at 4am, my first flight was delayed, and after sprinting between terminals like a bad movie cliché, I arrived at the gate to watch my connecting flight pulling away. 🤦🏻♀️ I managed to get rebooked on a flight to Boston, took a car service two hours home and made it just in time for dinner. It was a stressful day but all those hours in planes and airports meant I got to binge all of 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 by Abby Jimenez and despite the craziness, it put a smile on my face. I mean with lines like this:
“𝘌𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺.”
How could it not?
This romance isn't all sunshine and roses - it deals with heavy topics like emotional and physical abuse - but with a swoon-worthy book boyfriend in Daniel, a pajama-wearing goat, the sweetest small town setting and some of the best chemistry between a couple I've read this year, I have no doubt this modern fairytale will put a smile on your face, too.
Thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the copy to review.
Abby Jimenez is always an auto buy author and this latest book was just fun, charming, emotional and wonderful! (I didn’t expect anything else!) I love a good small town vs the big city and seeing people truly find what they are capable of and what they truly want to do with their life. (Something I wish I could figure out for myself.) I really enjoyed this story and I will always recommend it. I mean anything with baby goats is a winner, right?
I fully enjoyed reading this book. From the baby goat, to the big personalities of the small town, to the lovable star crossed lovers the whole thing felt like a comforting escape. I loved the alternating points of views as it gave you an intimate glimpse into each of the main characters separate worlds. Some of the characters choices felt annoying and predictable but with a long list of conflicts (some larger then most people can imagine), reality can be suspended in context and the story can just be enjoyed. In the end, I was happy to ride along with the knowledge that somehow it turn out with a happy ending.
*thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the advance e arc copy***
**CW: abuse(physical, emotional), depression
Once again, Abby Jimenez knows how to deliver. This is a first for me a social class trope but not so much with her books. This is an age gap romance that tells the story of two characters one from a small town (Daniel) and one from the big city (Alexis) who meet when she gets stuck coming home from a funeral. From then on, sparks ignite and while they both deal with their own personal lives, love proves that it conquers all no matter what the situation may be. I definitely enjoyed the small town characters and how they come together while with Alexis’s family and friends aside from Bri, who i wasn’t a particularly a fan of cause of the treatment they give her. I love the writing style and you can tell that the author does put in the time to research and write about the important issues as well. If you’re into the age gap romance, then this book is for you. I’ve always loved her books and definitely looking forward to the next one.
After getting stuck on the side of the road, Alexis meets small-town cutie Daniel. Being part of a legacy family in the world of medicine, Daniel and Alexis couldn’t be more different. Fast forward a few hours and one grilled cheese later, Alexis finds herself drawn back to a man and life that might be where she really belongs.
As always, this book left me laughing and falling in love with the characters much like Jimenez’s previous books. I might have just found myself a new book boyfriend. You might like this one if:
⭐️ You enjoy a small-town romance. Wakan may be a blip on the map but it is full of charm and fun characters.
⭐️ Romances that also tackle some deeper issues as part of the story (content warning: abuse).
⭐️ You like a romance with strong characters.
My first book by this author and it did NOT disappoint!! Often times I didn’t myself shying away from hyped books/authors but now I see the error of my ways and will be binging her backlist. Part Of Your World was hilarious and sweet all while having a couple of the worst characters ever! Seriously, the “villains” (yes, plural) are strong in this book and you’ll want to kick them in the back of the knees for sure. Alexis, an ER doctor from a prominent medical family, has found herself in a small town sneaking out in the middle of the night….covered in poop. Trust me, it’s as funny as it sounds. Daniel, said small towns mayor, is a talented carpenter who has just fallen hard for Alexis. These two come from opposite sides of the track but their chemistry is off the charts and after all, love conquers all….right?
Oh, and the steamy scenes are all skippable!
TW: emotional & physical abuse
Abby Jimenez does it again. I love the cute worlds Abby has always brought to her stories. Full of heart, laughter, food and love, Part of Your World was a joy to read. There's a crepe recipe in the book. I must try it. All the tropes I love age gap, forbidden romance, and a small town. This was an absolute joy to read. Alexis and Daniel are sure to capture your heart.
I’m not always the biggest fan of romance, but I’ve yet to read an Abby Jimenez book I didn’t love. Her books include everything we want in a contemporary romance - witty banter, lovable characters, steamy romance - plus they usually delve into deeper issues and give us a really good, fleshed-out story. This newest release is no exception.
I loved the way this book delved into issues of family legacy, expectation, and emotional abuse/domestic violence and the way the cycle continues. The book was real and raw but still readable and fun. She’s absolutely a master at broaching heavy topics in a book that still seems light overall. I loved it and would highly recommend keeping an eye out for this one.
To say that Part of Your World caught me off guard would be a serious understatement. I sort of assumed I would like the book fine because I've enjoyed Jimenez's writing in the past, specifically with The Happy Ever After Playlist. But when I picked this one up I was sucked in so immediately that even when I was screaming about the fact that I got approved for Ruby Fever, I had to finish this book on audio because I was too into it for my brain to allow for an interruption. As a person who currently has like 19 books on her currently reading shelf on Goodreads, y'all might be able to guess that me not interrupting another book is actually somewhat shocking. So, yes, I really loved this book, but I suppose we should actually talk about what this book is so you can decide if you would like it as well.
Alexis is on her way home from a funeral for an aunt when she winds up in a ditch and Daniel stops to pull her out. They both think this is the one and only time they'll see one another and think nothing of it, but Alexis winds up stopping in the VFW bar in Wakan, where Daniel is hanging out with a couple of his friends. The two wind up going back to Daniel's house where he makes Alexis a grilled cheese (I am apparently always and forever going to be a sucker for a love interest making the other a grilled cheese, okay? I am a simple woman.) and they have a great night together before Alexis slips away. What we learn right off the bat is that Alexis has just gone through a pretty awful breakup with an emotionally abusive ex, she's an emergency room doctor, and more than that, she's a Montgomery, which for those of you who have watched Grey's means she's the equivalent of an Avery. Daniel is a carpenter, mayor, and B&B manager in the small town of Wakan. He is also nearly a decade younger than Alexis.
I won't spoil anything further because there was a lot of fun in going, "Wait, so how are they going to reconnect?" And wondering how on earth they were going to find their way to an HEA. I did have to pause the book for many minutes when the bleak moment came through because I was so busy being distraught that they weren't going to have a smooth ride into happily ever after land that I needed a moment to compose myself. Not to be dramatic or anything. But ultimately, their reunion, the way they got to that HEA? It was incredible. I would have happily spent at least two dozen more pages just hanging out with them in the epilogue, if not more. If Jimenez wants to write more books about the community in Wakan, I would be utterly thrilled. I loved all of these characters. I want them to have the best life.
Some things you may want to know re: content warnings include that there are a couple different types of intimate partner violence discussed, emotional and physical. There's also some toxic family member situations. The really lovely thing though about the domestic violence content notes though is that in both the audiobook and print copy, there is a resource provided for people who need it. As a person who is arguably more educated on DV than the average lay person, I did have some questions about the way Jimenez presents Battered Women's Syndrome because (a) if you're going to use it, I prefer the term Battered Person's Syndrome and (b) I don't actually think the research on the topic fully lends itself to use in the way Alexis sort of drops it in and there wasn't actually a compelling reason to use that in contrast to just explaining the dynamics of IPV without a pathology. But that is obviously something that will bother very few people and even for me is something I just internally cringed at, but it didn't really detract from my enjoyment.
Abby Jimenez books are always the perfect mixture of sweet, funny, sassy, and sexy. There isn’t a character or side character I don’t love. Her books are the ones you grab and get cozy with a blanket and beverage cause you know you’re not moving for a while. Love this story. Love these in love idiots. Five stars. Favorites shelf. God, it was SO good. Read it.
4.5-stars!
I had so much run reading Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez as it was such a delightful read. This is an older woman/younger man romance that had me captivated from start to finish. Alexis and Daniel were just great characters and total opposites who just fit. They were both very determined and dedicated and come from different worlds. Still, when they were together you could just feel their connection. And though I did love their journey and loved this story so much, it was emotional and deals with some hard subjects that added to the story. The author also added some fairy tale touches that were just enchanting. To-date, this is my favorite Abby Jimenez story and highly recommend it!
Happy reading!
If I love a book I just have to have the physical copy. And this one I will definitely be needing in a physical copy.. I mean do I even need to say more?
Alexis just got out of a long relationship and isn’t looking to get into another one. She is passing through a small town when she meets Daniel. And of course she can’t stay away from him even though she knows they don’t have a future together. Daniel is an ER doctor and has certain legacies he has to fulfill. She just can’t help it and falls in love with him anyways.
This book not only has romance but it has depth. It touches on emotional and physical abuse, as well as depression. There were so many emotions while I read this, many laughs and many tears. This is definitely a book I wish I had a chance to read again for the first time!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Abby for my ARC.
This is available now. You definitely want this one on your bookshelf!
Thank you to Forever (via NetGalley) for the ARC!

I always know an Abby Jimenez book is going to be heart wrenching and I will end up crying at some point, and this book was no different. One thing that makes a great romance novel for me is when you're in the middle of the book and you don't see how things will work out. Everything is going wrong for the characters, things look bleak, and you think there's no way they'll end up together, or even happy for that matter.
But a happily ever after (or HEA) is a staple of the romance genre. Everything always works out in the end. ALWAYS. No matter what. And I know this. But there were some times in the middle of this book that I thought there was no possible way Daniel and Alexis were going to get there. Jimenez is always great at this because she puts her characters through the wringer in every single book. They go through so much, and their happy endings are always made that much sweeter for it. But the fact that she makes me doubt it every single time is the mark of a great writer, for me.
I really don't have anything constructive to say about this book specifically. I loved it, I loved Daniel and Alexis, and I'm a sucker for anything Abby Jimenez writes. If you liked her other books, you will liked this one. And you will cry. Probably a lot.
Abby Jimenez will always be one of my favorite authors. She became and auto read author for me after The Friend Zone. Abby manages to tell a sweet, heartfelt, and slightly steamy stories that still manage to tackle difficult issues with grace. All the Easter eggs from past books in Part of Your World gave me so much joy! I found myself constantly smiling, laughing, crying, etc. A constant barrage of all the emotions.
I've read all of Abby's books but the last two, including this one weren't my favorites. I dislike how the people in this book were portrayed as such do-gooders and wealthy because of their jobs and philanthropy. Those two things just hit me wrong and seemed like it was too goody-goody. I really do love Abby's writing, it's easy to read, fun, and has really cute side stories, like the goat in pajamas. But overall I didn't love this story, I should have written this review earlier because I read this one two weeks ago and I don't even remember much about it, And I hate saying that because I loved her first two books and can remember lots from those and how they made me feel while reading them. I think this one just came across as trying too hard or trying to wrap things up really nice and cleanly and lacked some of Abby's charm.
This is probably my least favorite Abby Jimenez book. I read two others by her and loved them, but this one missed the mark just a little bit. I'm glad I read it, but there is really nothing special about it.
Honestly, you can not go wrong with an Abby Jimenez title. Her complexity of characters, paired with real life issues that plague the characters make all of her books relatable and "Part of Your World" does not disappoint. Readers can connect to the characters in multiple ways. They feel like your best friends telling you about their lives. I am usually not a fanof dual narrators, but Jimenez weaves them so seemlessly, I forget that I'm reading from multiple points of view. I listened to the audiobook for this one and the readers are excellent as well.
Alexis Montgomery thought her world was tumbling down around her; her ex won't leave her alone, her parents have been emotional abusing her for years, and now her brother - who was supposed to be live up to their parents' expectations for her - has eloped and fled the country. Ending up with her car in a ditch outside of rural Wakan, Minnesota is just the cherry on top of everything else going wrong for the ER doctor. But then Ali meets Daniel Grant; he's ten years younger than her, does carpentry, and occasionally babysits baby goats in pajamas. He's everything that Ali can't have in her world of prestige, money, and fame. But Daniel, who does nothing but love and care for Alexis despite their impossibility as a couple, may just be the one person that Ali truly needs.
I cannot rave about Alexis and Daniel enough. I was legitimately hooked on this story from page one, and had a hard time putting this book down for things like work and sleep; if I had the hours to read this in one sitting, I would have. Jimenez brought so much personality to every single character in this story. Not only were Alexis and Daniel adorable and steamy and swoon-worthy on the page, but everyone from Bri to Pops to even Hunter the dog came alive with distinct traits and mannerisms. I can't recall a book that made me love all the secondary characters this much like Part of Your World. In the book, Alexis found a home in Wakan and with all it's people; as a reader, you do the same.
This book definitely has some very funny lines, especially where you'd least expect it. I lived for these one-liners that actually had me laughing out loud while reading. But what I loved the most in Part of Your World was the very real look at familial expectations and emotional abuse. Those two things might seem out of place in a romance or rom-com, but Jimenez does such a fantastic job at bringing these issues to light without having them be a downer for the whole book. Alexis feels stuck. Her father has dictated her every move, only to be disappointed in his daughter for choosing to be an ER doctor instead of a surgeon. Between her job, her dating life, and how she represents her family at hospital functions, I was so glad that Alexis was able to see how her father was emotionally abusing her. I was also happy that Alexis could sympathize with her mom while also acknowledging that she enabled her husband to act the way he did to Alexis. Family dynamics can be hard, but Jimenez handled the Montgomery family perfectly.
Alexis wasn't the only one with expectations, though. But for Daniel, he fought to keep his family legacy alive through his family's estate as well as his presence in Wakan. Daniel was just the sweetest of cinnamon rolls, and I really loved everything about him. He was caring, he was understanding, and he was patient with Alexis - almost to a fault. Many would have given up on her, especially when it was evident that she was holding back and keeping secrets, but Daniel saw it through. Like any Prince Charming, he was willing to do whatever it takes to stay with his princess.
Overall, Part of Your World had fantastic commentary, adorable and lovable characters, and a plot that had me running the full gamut of emotions. You'll get pulled in with the baby goat in pajamas, but you'll stay for the love worthy of a Disney masterpiece.
This book was by far the best book in the series. I read it on a beach in Jamaica and
it was the perfect beach read. If you are looking for a cute easy rom - com with a manly MMC - this is for you!
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
