My review will never do this book justice. I am crying because this book is over. I read it so damn slow because I didn’t want it to end. I highlighted so much because the writing was that good. I ordered this book even though I read an ARC because I need it on my shelf. I have become so attached and have fallen so hard for Alexis and Daniel. This is by far one of the best books I have read all year. I laughed, I cried and I swooned over this story. I honestly wish I could give it 10 stars! Please do me a favor… stop reading this review and go order this book right now.
Now, excuse me while I go read all of Abby Jimenez’s other books because I’m crazy and haven’t read any of them before this one 🙈
Thank you thank you to @readforeverpub and @netgalley for bringing this book into my life ♥️
I loved this book! Alexis is driving through a small town when she gets stuck in the mud. After a tow, a bet, a grilled cheese and a baby goat she soon finds undeniable chemistry with Daniel. Daniel is the town mayor, runs the bed and breakfast, is a carpenter and years younger than Alexis. She lives in a big city, is from a family of “world renowned “ doctors and about to become chief of medicine. They shouldn’t fit, yet they do. They fit perfectly.
.
I loved their time together in Daniel’s town. This one is about letting go of expectations and letting your heart lead the way. This has so much heart and some people I really hated in this book and others I really loved. I love Daniel and Alexis and rooted for them every step of the way, plus a rock has never been so romantic!
.
This book is out tomorrow! Thank you @readforeverpub and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Simply put, I just loved this one. So much love.
End of review.
Can I do that??
But really, I loved the two MCs, the small town romance, found family. I laughed and smirked multiple times. My heart warmed and I appreciated that there was way more to this story than meets the eye.
Excuse me while I go read Jimenez's entire backlist. BRB....
Thanks to @netgalley, @forever and @grandcentralpub for the advance copy! It published today!!
Happy Publication Day! Robin Loves Reading: Review - Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. https://www.robinlovesreading.com/2022/04/review-part-of-your-world.html please also see my YouTube video review - https://youtu.be/nFL2XdFoVms @AuthorAbbyJim @readforeverpub
The barriers just might be insurmountable for Alexis Montgomery and Daniel Grant. While it is true that they enjoyed a one-night-stand, their future together seems very unlikely. For one thing, Daniel is 10 years younger than Alexis. Then there is the fact that he is a carpenter and she comes from a rich family who has a lot of clout in the medical community. In fact, just about everybody in her family for the past 125 years has been a surgeon. However, Alexis took her own path and became an emergency room doctor.
If the age difference wasn’t enough, sadly, the class difference that exists between Alexis and Daniel is one that does not seem even possible to overcome. However, they are very, very much drawn to one another and Alexis spends as much time in Daniel’s town of Wakan as she can. Not only does Daniel accept her, but the members of this sweet town do as well. Will Alexis be able to remove the barriers between them? What about Daniel? Could he live in Alexis‘s world?
Part of Your World was a wonderfully sweet and tender love story between two people who just had to be together even though it seemed very unlikely. Abby Jimenez did a stellar job bringing these characters to life. The drama between them resulted in a warm ending that gave these two the happily ever after they deserve.
Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
After carpenter Daniel rescues ER doctor Alexis from a mishap with her car, the two end up in bed together. They never expect to see each other again, since they live two hours apart. But the attraction is one they can't forget, and their long-distance affair leads to love. Alexis's life is complicated, and she can't figure out how to fit Daniel into it. Can he convince her to give him a chance at forever?
This is a poignant but ultimately triumphant story of recovery from emotional abuse. Daniel is the first person (other than her brother and her best friend) to ever love Alexis unconditionally. She wants to be with Daniel, but can't figure out how to do that without letting down the other people in her life. Her sense of self-worth is so tied to meeting other people's expectations, she doesn't know any other way to be. It's a joyous thing to see her finally break free and learn to live on her own terms.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I was beyond excited when my "wish for it" was approved through NetGalley for an advanced e-reader copy. I simply I adored this book and read it in rather quickly. The two main protagonists were both relatable and likable. This romance did have some heavy topics such as abuse, both verbal and physical, as well as wealth disparities within relationships, and mental health.
Jimenez’s The Friend Zone series is a great read if you haven't already given it a go! She has a great way of seamlessly weaving heavy topics into her stories and you can't help but laugh out loud along the way.
When an ER Doctor and an absolute city girl Dr. Alexis Montgomery end up in a small town Wakan (after meeting with a small accident and landing her car in a ditch) and meets Daniel Grant the carpenter and ten years younger than her. It turns out to be the best day of her life and also the beginning of something incredible. Their chemistry is unmistakable but they both are from very different worlds.
Daniel is 28 and Alexis is 37. Her family has 125 years of legacy in the field of medicine and surgery in one of the most renowned hospitals in the country. He is the last Grant in Wakan. He is the mayor of the town, a carpenter, and also the owner of a Bed and Breakfast called The Grant House.
If I say I loved and enjoyed this book then it would be an understatement because it's that good. This is my first book by the author. 😬
Alexis and Daniel are amazing characters. Apart from them, Alexis’s best friend Briana is my favorite side character.
This book also highlights the subject of domestic (emotional) abuse and sometimes we are not able to identify it because we are taught to normalize it since our childhood also sometimes people whom we love the most do this to us.
This book resonated with me deeply and I could feel what Alexis was going through. I recommend it.
All the stars for this book!
Caught between two worlds Alexis needs to decide between following her family legacy or following her heart to Daniel.
This book had all the emotion, angst, banter and humor I've come to expect from this author. It's told in alternating points of view. There's also a touch of magical realism. I absolutely loved Alexis and Daniel! They were so good together and Daniel is just the sweetest guy! The story was rounded out with a fun epilogue and some great secondary characters. (Can't wait for Bri's book!) Loved this emotional story and I'm already ready for a reread. Thank you to the publisher for my e copy of this book.
This book had a slightly different vibe than Abby Jimenez's other books. It's a bit more grown up, but still has the hallmarks of this author's writing: funny, complex relationships, a cute animal or two, and ALL THE FEELS.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 is a May/December romance (the male lead being 10 years younger). And while it is a factor in this relationship, it isn't the ONLY factor, which I appreciated.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alexis is an E.R. Doctor who comes from extreme wealth and privilege. Her one-night stand with a hot younger guy becomes a more drawn out arrangement. I loved that Alexis really seems to find herself in this story. She is smart and kind.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Daniel was perfectly perfect and (yes, I'm an asshole like this) it irked me a bit. The man has not one flaw. Not one moment of weakness or selfishness. His character sometimes feels like a prop to hold up the existential crisis and introspection that Alexis is going through.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, listen, there are worse things than reading about a perfect man with perfect abs and a baby goat in pajamas.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 touches on family expectations, socio-economic chasms, emotional abuse, and claiming the life you want. It has laughs and serious moments. Steam and sweetness. Friendships you outgrow and forever friendships. You will not be able to put this book down once you start.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
MY HEART!
Welp... I simply adored this! I'm always very nervous going into Abby's books because she has the ability to just make me FEEL ALL THE FEELS and sometimes I have a hard time with it LOL (I really struggle with sad books!), but there's just something about this one.... it made me swoon, it broke my heart, and then nicely put it back together. Daniel is such a cinnamon roll - I couldn't get enough of him!! He and Alexis' relationship was wonderful - I just enjoyed everything about it, even when Alexis was being annoying about their age gap haha I loved the small town and how easily Alexis integrated into it - you could just feel that she was meant to be there! I also really enjoyed reading Alexis's journey to find herself and what she really wanted in life - her family dynamics were a struggle to read through at times but she came def came out on top (that ending was just so satisfying!).
Rating: 4.5 stars
Please note this book tackles some serious topics, such as emotional and physical abuse.
When Alexis finds herself stuck in a ditch in the middle of nowhere, the last thing she expects is to be rescued by a smoking hot carpenter named Daniel Grant. The problem is, he’s 10 years younger than her and her complete opposite. And yet their chemistry is undeniable. Alexis’ parents are famous surgeons who want her to carry on the Montgomery family legacy. Alexis doesn’t care about glory or fame, being a “mere” ER doc is just fine with her. The more time Alexis spends with Daniel in his small town, she realizes their relationship can never be more than a fling because their worlds are just too different. But how can she deny her feelings for him? Will she have to choose her world or his?
My first Abby Jimenez did not disappoint! I was instantly hooked and fell in love with Alexis and Daniel. From the moment they meet, their chemistry feels completely natural and unforced. Daniel is officially the new book boyfriend! A tall, handsome, bearded country boy (I apparently have a type, I mean just look at my husband 😂). But he was also so patient and kind with Alexis. She grew up in a very privileged family of famous physicians that didn’t require her to learn how to cook, they had people for that. Instead of belittling her about not knowing how to cook, he was gentle and guided her through each step. But even though her feelings for Daniel are undeniable, Alexis remains firm that nothing can come of this relationship because she is 10 years his senior and lives 2 hours away where she carries on the family legacy as an ER physician. Y’all I LOVED this book! Abby Jimenez created the perfect mix of romance and humor while tackling some very tough subjects. This was an easy 5 stars for me! Thank you so much to Forever Publishing, Abby Jimenez, and NetGalley for my E-ARC.
Grab your comfy pajamas, glass of wine and get ready for an entertaining book. Part of Your World is the perfect escape including goats in pajamas, an irresistible love story and a touch of magic. You won’t be able to put it down once you start!
Part of Your World Review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is like the perfect Hallmark movie. City girl meets the country boy and they fall for each other. The story was easy to follow and waaaay
🌶spicier🌶 than I would expect. I really loved how the book went into deep issues in a way that is real. And in the end no one had to sacrifice their dreams for the other party. Highly recommend as a spring read.
Thank you NetGalley for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Abby’s other books have been closed door romance and she’s one of the only authors of closed door I read, because her writing is that good. I was pleasantly surprised to see Part of Your World had a bit more steam than her previous books. I loved the Easter eggs from previous books and mentions of Nadia Cakes (Abby’s bakery). This book kind of reminded me of a Hallmark movie version of if Hart of Dixie and Aladdin had a baby. Country boy vs this privileged doctor, their romance is forbidden because their worlds are just so far apart. Abby’s animal side characters are always the absolute best and this book was no different (although I wish there were more mentions of the baby goat). This book was a bit more on the religious side, not overwhelmingly so, but as someone not religious, it was a difference I noticed from her previous books. There was a magical realism aspect that I’m not sure I loved. This story also dealt with some pretty heavy topics, topics I feel Abby handled with grace and her research was evident.
“Don’t let them decide the life you’re going to live. You only get one.”
I have this pattern I’ve noticed for Abby’s books. I like one, I obsessively love the next, I like the next one. So, that means Part of Your Workd I’m supposed to be obsessively in love with. Well, the pattern is real my friend. The pattern is real.
There’s so much that I adore about this book. Small town in the best way, the ring light convo, The fact that THE Lola Simone kind of gets her redemption arc in Part of Your World made my whole day. Bri + Hunter. Seriously, give me a book with Bri and that darn dog and my heart is happy. It made my day. I love little Easter eggs (no pun intended) Taylor Swift style, and this just got me.
I think the only thing that really didn’t grab me was that Alexis was so obsessed with age, but Neil was the same age gap. If there are two consenting adults, I don’t really get the hoopla about an age gap. She’s not a spinster, it’s okay to get butterflies.
What I enjoy about Abby’s books is they can be hilarious, but still touches on topics of importance in a respectful way. I do think that the topic of emotional abuse was handled very well. They words she took from Ashley Spivey were powerful in that moment and truly stuck with me. I was so angered by Ali’s parents and Neil that I just wanted to scream. I’m glad her therapist was shown as a big part of her growth because therapy is amazing.
Overall, another solid Abby Jimenez read! So happy to see the little nods to the previous books. This gave me almost a Sweet Home Alabama vibe, which we all known is one of my absolute favorites. I loved the different fate/magical things in this town and I’m glad I got that crape recipe 😂❤️ Thank you @readforeverpub as always for the gifted copy! Part of Your World is out 4/19!
Siri play the Little Mermaid’s Part of Your World. Tbh I can’t remember if there is a reference to it in the book but Alexis is a red head and I felt like she does really embody the song.
It is no surprise how much I love Abby Jimenez and her books. I read the entire Friend Zone trilogy in a weekend and cried buckets - over my old job that I worked way too many hours that weekend but also because of course I was emotional af over those books.
Abby Jimenez’s latest release was no exception (besides actually no tears for once!!) I absolutely loved it. Super, super biased that it was partially set in my city, Minneapolis. I mean there’s a baby goat in PAJAMAS!!!
Alexis is such a strong, accomplished, smart MC. She had so much character growth and I’m so proud of her journey. Daniel is up there for the book boyfriends - tattoos, hard working, the muscles, caring, and chef.
Thank you, thank you, thank you @readforeverpub for all of the ARCs and finished copy
CW/TW to be aware of: Abuse - emotional, mental, and physical - from intimate partners and from a parent, depression
If you’ve ever watched any of Abby Jimenez’s Reels or TikTok videos, you know that she’s hilarious. Her humor is fully infused into her writing in Part of Your World. I couldn’t stop laughing. There is a heavy theme that is brought up throughout the story, but I found that the humor helped to balance that out. If you love small town romance and all the interesting characters who typically show up, you’ll love this one. The heroine, Alexis, goes through some ups and downs before she finds her voice. The love interest is amazing, he’s sweet, funny, and great with The Princess Bride references. I really enjoyed the dialogue in this book. Not only is their banter great, but the dialogue with all of the other characters really shows the reader the relationship dynamics and personalities of each character. I like books with a good balance of dialogue and inner reflection and I think Abby does a great job of making the reader feel like they’re sitting in the room listening to their friends chat. I highly recommend grabbing this book ASAP!
CW: emotional abuse, narcissistic parent, domestic abuse (not LI)
Thank you to @readforeverpub for a free digital ARC and #gifted physical book.
I absolutely loved this meet cute romance from Abby Jimenez! This was my first book from Jimenez and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book. The chemistry between the two main characters was so enjoyable and made me fly through this book. The start of this book we find Alexis who is an ER doctor who comes from an incredibly successful family. On her way home she ends up veering into a ditch and who pulls her out? None other than 10 years younger construction worker Daniel. I loved the contrast between these two characters and how much you knew they were meant to be together even if they do not know it yet. Throughout this book you cannot help but laugh at all of the quirky things happening. Overall, a super cute romance!
It is simple as this…Abby Jimenez’s name is on it, I’m going to read it. I fell in love with Abby’s books with her debut The Friend Zone and that love has only grown. For a long time The Happily Ever After Playlist was my favorite Abby book, but after reading Part of Your World, that has changed. With this book Abby has completely outdone herself. The story is perfect, the writing is awesome, and the swoon is hardcore. It was pure perfection.
Part of Your World feels like Schitt’s Creek in book form. It’s the story of Alexis, a sophisticated city-girl who’s very rich parents want her to become a world renowned surgeon like them and not stay the ER doctor she currently is. One night Alexis finds herself in need of help in a small. town and she meets Daniel, leaving her world forever changed. Daniel is 10 years younger than Alexis and as casual as can be. But as Alexis finds herself falling more and more for Daniel and the town he lives in she has to think about what that might mean. Are these people, her relationship with Daniel more important than her family, no matter how over bearing they can be?
You know you love a book when it takes a little over a day to read it and that is exactly what happened with Part of Your World. Abby created a story that, much like Alexis and Wakan, you can’t help what want to return to. Everything was done so perfectly it’s hard to pinpoint all that I loved about it. I loved Daniel. I loved Alexis. I loved Daniel and Alexis. I loved Wakan. I loved the people of Wakan. I loved it al so much that it really just feels like the most perfect book. Alexis had been through a lot and found a place she felt like she was herself, that she was out on the other side. Have I mentioned how much I loved it?
There really isn’t much more for me to say about Part of Your World other than you need this book. It blew me away and hopefully will do the same to you. Get a copy ordered today!
It was only supposed to be grilled cheese. Nothing serious. A one-night stand. Yet, months after their first meeting, Alexis and Daniel are trying to figure out if they can fit in each other's worlds.
Part of Your World was my first Abby Jimenez book, but it's definitely not my last. I loved this book! It is everything that I love about romance books -- excellent writing, well developed characters, thoughtful handling of difficult topics, humor, all the feels, and great world building (Wakan is magical). The Disney elements, particularly the Alexis/Little Mermaid parallels, are the icing on the cake!
Thank you to Forever for my early digital copy to read and enjoy! This voluntary review reflects my honest opinion.
