Abby Jimenez is so talented - she's never written a story I didn't enjoy and Part of Your World is no exception. A moving tale of a chance meeting followed by a romance that might not fit in the 'real world'. Loved this story!
4.5/5
Thank you Netgalley and Forever for the ARC.
This book was such a beautiful story. It has all the feels and emotions a good book brings out in a reader.
I loved the two main characters Daniel and Alexis. I loved the small town folks. The writing was done in such a wonderful way that I felt like I was part of the story.
Daniel and Alexis have such different lives, upbringing and background, but the love they have for each other is so strong and magical. The author did such an incredible job bringing everything together.
It was such a fantastic book! I loved it so much.
Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors! Her story telling style and humor are always top notch even when dealing with tough subjects. Part of Your World had me hooked right from page 1 and I loved it from start to finish.
Alexis and Daniel were a great couple who are both struggling with family and community expectations and the roles our families choose for us or that we let ourselves be defined by. They have a great connection. Despite their many differences, they find a way to be together.
This had some fun Disney references, but wasn’t too over the top. It has a small town vs big city vibe, an age gap (Alexis is 10 years older), horrible ex, strong friend groups, dogs and a BABY GOAT!
“If you have a baby goat, you always lead with ‘I have a baby goat.’”
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for the chance to read this early!
From the moment I started this book I knew that it would be a favourite. Alexis and Daniel are such great characters you really start to fall in love with them both separately and as a couple. I also fell in love with the town of Wakan and wish that I could visit it to see if I experience any magic. Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the opportunity to read this ARC.
God I loved Part of Your World! Abby Jimenez delivers another tender, emotional, funny love story that belongs on every romance reader’s keeper shelf.
Tropes: Opposites-Attract, Age Gap (10 years), One Night Stand, Secret Relationship, Small Town, Found Family, Cinnamon Roll Hero
Plot at a glance:ER doctor Alexis Montgomery’s world is turned upside down after spending an unforgettable night with carpenter Daniel Grant. Their chemistry is undeniable, but do their differences (age, class, finances) and the pressure of Alexis’s family legacy make this relationship doomed from the start?
Review: Part of Your World is incredible. It captured my attention from the very first page. I didn’t want to put this book down!
I loved everything about Alexis and Daniel’s relationship. From their adorable meet cute to the way they challenged and helped each other grow. Both characters are fascinating in their own rights, but pure magic when they’re together.
I absolutely adored Daniel – I think he might be my new favourite Abby Jimenez hero, but I also say that with every book. :P He has a heart of gold and would do anything for the people (and community) he loves.
I really admired Alexis and how she worked through her personal matters to make a future with Daniel possible. Her journey wasn’t an easy one, but that only made the end result all the sweeter.
The hint of magic surrounding the small town community was well done. It was the perfect amount to help create this modern day fairy tale.
Abby Jimenez handled the novel’s tough subject matter <spoiler>(emotional and physical abuse at the hands of a romantic partner, parent with addiction problems)</spoiler> with immense care. Each storyline involving these tough subjects helped move the novel forward and added additional layers of depth to an already nuanced love story.
Overall, I cannot recommend Part of Your World enough. I’m incredibly excited to see what Abby Jimenez comes up with for her next book.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the chance to read this digital ARC.
Abby Jimenez does it again! This book arrived just when I needed a pick me up. Abby managed to deal with real, challenging issues in her books while always infusing levity and humor and flirtatiousness too. So thankful for the chance to gobble this one up. It has stayed with me and I keep wanting to dive back in and not let go of these characters. Loved it!!!
Let me start this by saying that Daniel Grant is god tier book boyfriend material. Do y’all have any idea how rare that is?! I would be his penguin in a heartbeat.
Part of Your World was absolutely phenomenal! This is my first book by Abby Jimenez and I am completely won over by her ability to craft a story that is equal parts sweet romance and hilariously witty banter, while also touching on the subject of abuse in relationships—both familial and romantic.
Thank you Netgalley and Forever Pub for giving me the opportunity to read this early!
I loved this awesome opposites-attracts romance! Alexis, a rich doctor from the city, and Daniel, a small town mayor/ B&B host/furniture-maker, are falling in love, but both have family legacies that might pull them apart. They are complicated characters that are very well- drawn; their POVs go deep and their romance is swoon-worthy!
But I also adored the quirky side-characters, and the small town of Wakan is full of them! The fun found family element is here (one of my favorite tropes), and there are a couple of scenes that made me laugh super hard (case in point, Hunter and the squirrel). There is a more serious theme of overcoming emotional abuse, and I think it was handled well. The very subtle magical angle was just right.
It felt akin to two of my favorites: Julie Anne Long's Hellcat Canyon series with a touch of Sarah Addison Allen's subtle magical realism. Highly recommend!
Abby Jimenez can do not wrong. Her characters are so much fun and you can't help but cheer them on, even when you're screaming at them.
Alexis and Daniel have a 3 hour drive, thousands of dollars, and 10 years between them. On paper they shouldn't work. Alexis is the only one left to fulfill her family's legacy, a tradition that has withstood 125 years. Daniel also has a 125 year family legacy, though a much more humble one. When a chance encounter brings the two opposites together, they quickly learn how little all those other things mean when you find someone who feels like home.
Jimenez tells a love story for those of us who still feel a little broken. A story about how you have to get out of your own way to chase a once in a lifetime love.
5 big honkin stars. I have loved every Abby Jimenez book and wow this one is no exception. There is such an easy flow to this story. It is dreamy but not over the top. Speaking of dreamy there is Daniel. He is physically gorgeous but he is such a beautiful soul that he could look like a gargoyle an still be a catch. He is just a genuinely good person who loves with his whole heart. Then there is Alexis hasn’t known much love,She has a life many would envy with wealth and success but something is missing. I liked Alexis and the growth she mad throughout the book. The author shows us two worlds. There is Daniel’s humble small town world that is fun, real simple and full of friends, family and love. Then there is Alexis’s world that is full of status, material wealth and pressure to excel. Alexis is very much the mermaid who washes up on land and actual thrives there but feels the tug of the sea. When she answers that tug she breaks her heart, Daniel’s heart and the readers. I adored this book from the moment they met to their adorable first date at drive in to their inevitable break up and reunion to the satisfying epilogue. Thank you to Net Galley, the author and the publisher fir the privilege of reading Part of Your World.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review! I really like Jimenez as an author. I was so excited to get Part of Your World! This one pulled at my heart strings! As always, she has some tough themes but does them with care!
OMG DID I DEVOUR THIS. This book is seriously everything!!! Omg i NEED a Daniel in my life. This by far has to be one of my favorite contemporary romance couples.
Alexis and Daniel come from two totally completely worlds, but somehow their worlds come clashing together when he tows her out of a ditch in his small town. The way these two just clicked, was so heart warming to read. I was literally swooning the whole book over Daniel and just how pure his love was. The way this man cares for Alexis, his friends, his town, really everything; just made my heart smile. I also have never actually cried romance book, but this one did it in for me. This is a MUST READ for anyone that enjoys reading romance. Abby Jimenez absolutely wrote a phenomenal book here, and i cant wait to read more by her.
Also, aside from the romance, i really loved reading Alexis’s character growth and her self discovery. She is coming out of an emotional abusive relationship (TW) in this book and to see her overcome what she went through was empowering.
LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!
Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to read and review this gem, I soaked up every second of it. The characters were so well written and the book was so well paced. I finished it in one day; once I starter, I couldn't stop! I will be posting on my instagram on publication day (@ifyoucan_read_this) but really really enjoyed this novel and I have no doubt that it will be top of the charts for a while. Phenomenal job!!
I HAVE THE BIGGEST BOOK HANGOVER FROM THIS ONE! Abby Jimenez how dare you! Did i stay up til the early morning to finish this? Yes I did! Will you? Probably!
Alexis Montgomery finds herself stuck in a ditch in the middle of nowhere in a small town, only to be pulled out by Daniel, the town mayor and all around nice guy. When she goes back to his place for an innocent meal, it turns out their attraction wins out and they have a one night stand. Alexis isn't in a place to have a relationship, never the less a long distance one with a man 10 year younger than her, yet she can't help but going back a couple weeks later to scratch the itch again. While their lives can't fit together long term, can they do a fling without catching true feelings? And can Alexis keep Daniel from her overbearing family and friends?
First off SAWOOOOOOOOOOOON! Daniel is just so adorable. I loved that he wasn't this perfect person, but had these doubts about him and their relationship. I also enjoyed that he fell in love first. I loved the small aspect of magical realism. I also alway love that Abby puts real-life aspects into her books. No one has the perfect life! We deal with heavy topics like emotional and physical abuse, divorce, small town vs big city life, familial pressures etc. Also the reverse age gap was refreshing. I don't usually enjoy age gap relationships but it was done so well!
The parents and the snobby friends were written so well. You couldn't help but be appalled by them! Overall I laughed, I cried (a lot) and I was left with all the feels. I am so excited there is going to be another book in the series.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review. This book releases 4/5!
Abby Jimenez has become a favorite author of mine over the past year and Part of Your World just confirms why. Alexis and Daniel couldn't come from more different worlds. Alexis is a Montgomery, a long line of doctors who founded and head the renowned Royaume hospital in Minneapolis. Daniel is a Grant, the last in a line of country folk who love their tiny town of Wakan. Told from alternating points of view, this romance delves deep into what really makes up a family and what is truly important in life. Jimenez doesn't shy away from tough topics- this book touches on the effects of abuse, both physical and emotional abuses. I also loved all the little nods to Disney in this one (there is a tiny touch of magic, but it's very subtle). I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
I am a huge fan of this author's work and will read anything she writes. Part of Your World was an easy read with the strong friendships, unique settings, steamy scenes, and cute animals I have come to love. This particular romantic storyline was not as great for me, as the past books in the series. Insta-love is a tough tope for me, personally, and while I adored Daniel, I was really not a fan of Alexis and was highly annoyed by her hiding the relationship. Unfortunately, her behaviors and privilege kept me from being truly invested in this romance.
Another beautiful book by Abby Jimenez. She’s my go to for emotional romances and this one is no different. A small town guy, a big city girl, and a baby goat. That’s all I needed to hear to know I would love this book. Daniel and Alexis-you made me laugh, you made me swoon, you broke my heart, and you made me smile. Now that’s how a romance is done 👏🏻 .
***BOOK REVIEW***
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
Title: Part of Your World
Author: Abby Jimenez
⚠️ Will cause you to stop everything you are doing to finish. Don’t plan on adulting until you finish Part of Your World.
Abby has a way of telling a story that makes you instantly fall in love with the characters. They make you laugh and cheer them on the entire way.
What I really admire about Abby’s books is that they also deal with some pretty heavy issues without creating an overly heavy book.
In Part of Your World a couple of the characters are in abusive relationships so if that’s a trigger for you this book might not be for you. However, it’s done in a way that’s not overly descriptive and deals more with the aftermath and why a person would be in that sort of situation and not just leave. And the healing process after they do leave their relationships.
Thanks to Netgalley and Forever for a copy of Part of Your World for an honest review
I have to say, any book where a main female character is a physician... instant win for me. I loved Alexis' character and seeing how smart she was- not just snappy in terms of her dialogue, but genuinely an intelligent person. I also loved how she never changed anything fundamental about herself for Daniel, and she never expected him to change to fit into her world (even if she secretly hoped it would happen in a way). The boundaries around their lives were respectful and so pleasant to read.
I read this in one sitting while my highlights were setting at the hairdresser's and it was spicy enough that my brightness was turned down but not too spicy that I was blushing while reading (but I did grin an awful lot). Totally the perfect marriage of romance, real life, and happily ever after (it's a romance, people, we know how it ends).
Definitely MAJOR Schitt's creek Alexis and Mutt vibes with rich girl poor guy, big city small town, etc, but wholesome and cute and mature. This was my first Abby Jimenez book and I'll be picking up my next one real soon.
I typically enjoy rom coms and most of them are a solid three stars for me, but I absolutely loved Part of Your World. The main characters, Alexis and Daniel, were amazing, and the supporting cast was equally as great! The opposites attract plot point worked perfectly in this story, and it was nice to see Alexis’ transformation. The story was equal parts humor and heartwarming and touched on serious topics like emotional/physical abuse with just the right amount of care. Finally, I’m a sucker for small town life and the village of Wakan was picturesque.
