I read this book in a whole sitting, that’s how much I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! I couldn’t put it down, not even to eat or drink water. In fact, while reading, I silently cried in bed and I laughed so hard at some parts, I almost peed my pants. I have never been disappointed reading one of Abby’s books, and Part of Your World continued to blow my mind. Even with the heavier topic of domestic abuse interlaced within the book, I can’t express how carefully thought out this book was written. I cannot wait for this book to be released and I’m so honored to be one of the lucky people to have gotten an advance copy.
This was another winner from Abby Jimenez. It is an age gap romance that also has a wealth and class gap.. Interestingly, Alexis the book's heroine is older than Daniel and wealthy. The age gap isn't huge only 10 years but the wealth and class gap is the crux of their problems.
Alexis comes from a family of wealthy surgeons with a father that has huge expectations for her career and life. Unfortunately for Alexis and we learn later her mother, she tends to defer to her father's wishes in many areas of her life. However, Alexis never planned on meeting a charming, handsome Daniel who sweeps her off of her feet and has her reevaluating everything she’s been taught about herself and life.
I loved Daniel! He is just a regular guy trying to make a life in a small town that he loves. He loves Alexis and treats her like a queen. I have to admit I often felt he was too good for Alexis but I realized she was going through her journey and learning about herself and she would find her way.
This book isn't really steamy but there are some sweet and sensual scenes between them.
Overall you will fall for Daniel your new book boyfriend and root for he and Alexis to achieve their happily ever after. Also therapy all around for everyone!
Thank you Forever Publishing for my review copy
This sweet read has just a hint of magic but a world of love - love for one's community, for one's friends, for one's incredibly difficult relations, for chosen work, and of course, between two people who have been just waiting for each other without ever realizing it.
It's a modern fairy tale without really shouting about its fantasy underpinnings. In fact, I didn't catch how much of this was deliberate until I read the author's note! I mean, a lot of romance authors drop references to Disney characters or even theme parks into their books - this is the generation that was brought up on Disney VHS and the dream of the annual summer trip, right? But the little touches of magic in this book aren't just place-setting: they're subtle and clever texture which lend a special, sparkling fantasy to this perfect little love story.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely Love Abby's books so I was super excited to have been approved this one on Net Galley and couldn't wait to read it! Abby's books never disappoint and this one didnt either! I really enjoyed the story between Alexis and Daniel. They had a great chemistry together and I am happy with the outcome of the story. I do wish that Alexis would have tried a bit harder with their relationship but she made the right choice in the end! Also I do like how she stuck up for herself when it came to her parents and how they treated her which wasn't right at all. So Props to you Alexis!! I do wish though there would have been more romance and comedy in this one compared to her other books which I felt had more of but I still really enjoyed this book overall. Very quick, fun and easy read!
Abby, you did it again. I devoured Part of your World in a few days. I absolutely love Abby’s writing - it’s fun, witty and pulls on the heart strings. She will send you on an emotional roller coaster and at the end leaving you wanting more. You get so invested in the characters that they become your friends.
Alexis meets Daniel after she ended up in ditch and needed a tow in his small town. Alexis is wealthy, an ER doctor, her parents are world renowned surgeons and lives 2 hrs away. Daniel is a carpenter, town mayor, and is 10 years younger. How can this relationship work?
Abby delivered the romance, the wit and some tears. If you loved any of Abby’s book you will definitely love this one just as much.
Oh and we can’t forget about the baby goat in pjs, Kevin Bacon and a very loveable dog.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher’s for accepting my request to read an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
ALL THE STARS
Wow guys, Abby Jimenez did it again. AND MORE. I knew after the first chapter that this one would be a five star read for me and it didn't disappoint at all. Her writing is pure genius, the story was incredible, the pace, the tension everything was absolutely perfection.
I loved the little easter egg to her first series. I think this book is definitely her best one yet. I officially have a new book boyfriend by the name of Daniel Grant. He is THE man every girl wants. I loved the conflict, Alexis' background, her job, her legacy. Did I say that I loved everything?
I wish it had been a liiittle bit steamier because Abby writes those scenes really well but honestly, the storyline was soooo good that it didn't bothered me or made me take half a star. All the stars for this incredible book. I just want to re read it again now for the first time.
*Thank you to Abby Jimenez, NetGalley, and Hachette for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
This is my first Abby Jimenez book, and I absolutely loved it. It wasn't just a rom-com, but dealt with genuine issues such as psychological abuse, physical abuse, and cheating. This book talked about how messy real life can be when the choices we make are not the ones we choose.
Alexis, a successful emergency doctor, is living up to the Montgomery name. The Montgomerys have been doctors for generations, and the local hospital has had a Montgomery working there for 125 years. In Part of Your World, we learn that Alexis' live-in boyfriend of seven years has cheated on her and, much to her parents' dismay, she has kicked him out. On her way back to Minneapolis, she loses control of her car and goes into a ditch. Then we meet Daniel, the twenty-eight-year-old "mayor" of Wakan, who helps to get her car out. When she shows up to local VFW for food before she goes back, Daniel is there.
While this novel could be called an "Other side of the tracks" book, it really isn't. Daniel, while not yet successful with his woodcarvings, is successful in running a bed-and-breakfast in the tourist town of Wakan. He doesn't have a lot of money, but he loves his town. They help each other out like family and all depend on each other. I loved the world of Wakan and wish it was an actual place. Alexis has been raised with a silver spoon, with wealthy parents who are doctors, and anything she ever wanted, except the acceptance of her parents, who are never quite satisfied with her accomplishments.
While I was not a big fan of Alexis and her attempts to overthrow Daniel to appease her parents, I loved how the story ended. It was definitely a journey and Abby is an author I would read again and again.
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
Tropes: Small Town Romance; Opposites Attract; Age Gap Romance
This book was just a perfect blend, it really hit all the notes I could possibly ask for – it held humor, romance, heartwarming moments, small town charm, and still managed to tackle very real, important life issues with respect and grace. This is the first book in a new Jimenez created world – and I was both excited and nervous to dive in. Luckily, this new Jimenez created world / cast of characters was as engrossing as the last.
I was totally swept up into the world of Alexis and Daniel – I loved both characters and all that made up the wonderfully imagined small town of Wakan. Alexis was intelligent and strong, I really enjoyed watching her grow and learn – it was also interesting to see a slightly older main character than I’m used to as the lead. Daniel was absolutely perfect – he easily wins book boyfriend status and who could resist him? Sweet, vulnerable, caring and just downright good. (The baby goat and rescue pup don’t hurt either 😉)
I loved how carefully Jimenez chose to weave in the real life issues around abuse – the patterns, the power dynamics, and the different types. It was beautifully and heartbreakingly real and relatable, she handled it in a way that gave voice but allowed it to exist in a romantic comedy. Be prepared for tears and to hurt along with the characters.
The book is also filled with love, charm, laughs and even a touch of magic. This book has easily leaped up to contend as a favorite alongside Happily Ever After Playlist – I loved both so much. I didn’t want the story to end and cannot wait for Bri’s story next!
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the opportunity to read an early copy of this amazing, all the feels book in exchange for my honest review. 💕
CW: Emotional abuse by side character, on page gaslighting by side character and on page physical abuse of a secondary character.
As with all of Abby Jimenez's books, I probably should have just taken a day off work because this one was difficult to put down. I've been thinking a lot about what it is that makes her writing in particular so engaging, and I think it's the way she writes people–women in particular. They're real, they have very relatable hangups, and at times they make you want to yell through your Kindle. They are also always lucky enough to find their perfect match in tit for tat banter that makes me LOL.
I loved Alexis and Daniel's journey. Also of note: the friends in this book were particularly fantastic, and I can only hope Abby writes a story for each and every one of them.
FYI: I received the ARC of this one from NetGalley and @ReadForeverPub in exchange for an honest review.
A big thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for granting me the honor or reading this advanced copy. And a heck of a thank you to Abby for writing some incredible books. I loved her first three books and I absolutely SWOONED for this one as well. The story is rich, the characters are vibrant, and how can you not adore a baby goat 😍
I've read every one of Abby Jimenez's books and this one may very well be my favorite thus far! Alexis and Daniel are such beautifully drawn out characters, both wonderfully developed in their own worlds and custom built to mesh with one another's. The book is funny and heartwarming, while also shedding light on serious issues so many of us can relate to. I found myself lost in the story easily, unable to put it down (a common occurrence with all of Jimenez's books!) I love that the book is written from dual perspectives, giving us solid insight into both of the main characters and the lives they lead. I truly recommend this book to anyone in need of a mental escape into another's world. It's absolutely fantastic!
Abby Jimenez has done it again! I'm not kidding when I say that I actually screamed out loud when I found out I had been approved for this book. All of her previous books have been five star reads for me, and this one was no exception.
I really enjoyed this take on the classic 'small town/big city' trope, this is something that could easily become cheesy and predictable, but Jimenez was able to create a world that felt so cozy and comforting I didn't want the story to end! I was also really fond of the age gap between the two characters- it was so fun to read a romance about an older, successful women who meets a blue collar, younger man.
I always love how Jimenez is able to weave deeper themes into her books, this time with an abusive relationship, and because of this, is able to create deeper and more realistic characters. While I wanted Alexis to commit early in the story, I understood the reasoning behind her decisions.
I loved the sweet relationship between Daniel and Alexis and the development that they had from the beginning to the end of the story. Jimenez is able to take a book with deep themes and situations and make it feel lighthearted and cozy. I enjoyed the references to her other books that she sprinkled throughout the story, as well as her subtle nods to Disney!
This is a story I definitely plan on re-reading, and buying a paperback copy of when it comes out in April! Read this book, you won't be disappointed!
Abby Jimenez is quickly becoming my favourite romance writer. I’ve read her previous triology & adored it, so when I heard about PART OF YOUR WORLD, it was an immediate add to my TBR. And when I was approved from an e-ARC, it was an immediate, read-in-24 hours book — and readers? I loved it.
It’s the story of Daniel, an innkeeper / carpenter / mayor who is from a small town in Wakan, & Alexis, an emergency room doctor from the city. They meet, he rescues her with a grilled cheese & a one night stand, & they go their separate ways. Or so they think. Alexis continues to be drawn into Daniel’s world — but her trauma & past & present keeps her from going all the way in with him.
Halfway through the boom, I realized what I love about Jimenez’s writing — it equally tackles the hard parts of grief & trauma with the hope & joy of falling in love. And she writes it tenderly, with vulnerability, & so true to life. ALSO MAY I PRAISE GIVING ROMANCE CHARACTERS TIME TO FALL IN LOVE. This was a story that gave them a long runway — so the feelings felt really real to me.
Overall, I dearly loved this read and I can’t wait to read Bri’s story in 2023!
(Big content warnings for emotional & physical abuse throughout the book.)
Abby does it again! I have been a fan of Abby for many years. The way she tells stories is unlike any author I have ever read. There is this genuine magnetism that pulls you in, somehow has you relating to characters that are completely opposite from you. I truly cannot recommend POYW enough - it’ll make you laugh out loud, it’ll make you bawl, it’ll make you read it all over again in one sitting because one time just isn’t enough. Abby, you are so incredibly talented and it is such an honor to read an ARC of this beautiful love story. I will forever be a fan of your work.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for this ARC of Part of your world.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I absolutely loved this book, Alexis and Daniel were perfect together and you could feel their chemistry through the pages.
Abby Jimenez is an amazing author and I love the universe of characters she has created and how she ties each book together. I don’t think there will ever be a time that I don’t just automatically buy a book when she has a new one being published. It is impossible for me not to get wrapped up in how she tells these stories. Alexis’ story hit close to home with me and I love the growth we see with her throughout the book.
Also, Bri is probably my favorite secondary character so far in the Abbyverse and I’m so thrilled to read the next book about her!!
Part of Your World follows two very different individuals and what transpires after fate brings them together at an inopportune time of their lives, or maybe it’s the exact right time? Alexis Montgomery comes from a prestigious line of surgeons in a large Minneapolis hospital. Daniel Grant is from a long line of small city folk through and through, cue the adorable B & B and baby goat.
I’m telling you, page after page, this story lit my heart on fire. These characters are so delightful; their storylines, the one liners, the timely social issues, the whole ride was just perfect. I dreaded the last page because I didn’t want it to end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five brightly illuminated stars for this rom-com gem!
Thank you Net Galley and Read Forever Pub for making my Abby Jiminez loving heart extra happy this year with the opportunity to read this early!!
Absolutely everything by this author I will read no questions asked. It never misses. I read this on a flight in one sitting and was worried I wouldn’t be able to put it down to deplane.
The way POYW shows that even when your worlds are completely different, you can find joy, hope, and learn from one another. The way Abby provides a background of each of the characters to better understand why they are the way they are, along with letting us be apart of their everyday lives is simply spectacular. The song choices that are in the books when reading, help you dive a little further into the characters emotions at that very point in time. What’s even more spectacular is that each song speaks for the chapter itself. Fantastic book, a definite must read.
Yes, it's me reading and reviewing a book for 2022 while it's still 2021! As soon as I got my hands on Abby Jimenez's new book, I started reading it. All my friends were reading and raving, and I didn't want to miss out. I have read every book by Abby, and this is probably my favorite. Part of Your World is a multifaceted story with both light-hearted romance and an exploration of more difficult issues. I loved the romance between Alexis and Daniel. I'm always a fan of the older woman, younger man combo! And I loved how strong and steady Daniel was, and how he helped Alexis to grow in new ways and let go of some things. This is a meaty romance, with a sweet, slow-burn. And a great cast of side characters. I absolutely loved the small town of Wakan and the magic of this community. I hope this town is featured in future stories.
Abby Jimenez is a rom-com goddess, and I will read all of the things that she writes. I was delighted to receive an early copy of Part of Your World, and I was not disappointed.
Alexis Montgomery and Daniel Grant don't appear to have the most in common on paper. She's city. He's country. She's from a high-profile family. He's from a family that's lived in a small town for over a century. She's got it together as a doctor about to be a chief in her field. He's still figuring it out.
And yet...when the universe conspires to bring them together, they might just realize have more in common than first they realized. What starts as fun and games quickly becomes more, and they are left to wonder how they can fit into each other's worlds.
With a splash of magical realism and some well-placed Disney Easter eggs, Jimenez brings readers in to another love story with a deep emotional core. It's not all easy as <MINOR SPOILER> Alexis deals with verbal abuse from her prior partner. And, that's what levels up Jimenez from other writers. She's not afraid to grapple with the messy elements of life too.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.
