I always wonder how Abby can possibly outdo her previous novel and every single time she manages to do it. Part of Your World is no exception to this trend. She has been a must buy writer for me ever since I read her debut novel The Friend Zone and for good reason. Her books are all phenomenal.
Enough about Abby though, and more about Part of Your World. Prior to reading this book, I was firmly #teamjosh but I am officially now #teamdaniel. We get the joy of following Alexis, a successful 37 year old doctor from the city, and Daniel, the mayor of Wakan and sexy carpenter/ bed and breakfast operator. Abby gracefully tells their story while tackling touch topics like emotional/mental abuse, domestic violence, and unrealistic family expectations. I loved watching the way Alexis was able to level up and find her inner fire and motivation and the way her relationship with Daniel evolved in the process. Trust me when I say, you do not want to miss this book. Get your hands on it, as soon as you can, and set aside some time to read it straight through because I promise you won’t want to put it down.
If I had to pick only one book to read for the rest of my life, it would be this one. I’m sure many of you know by now that my love for everything Abby Jimenez writes runs deep. Like so deep that I’ve bought multiple copies of her books in every form possible for myself and to gift to others. I’ve read (and listened) to them all multiple times. Anytime I’m asked what my all time favorite book I always say The Happy Ever After Playlist. Part of Your World has now taken that title of my all time favorite.
Every single thing about this book was just IT for me. This book was PURELY PERFECTION. Anyone know how to get the dictionary to update definitions? Because a picture of this book needs to be added in under the word perfect. The chemistry between Daniel and Alexis was palpable. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire book. Their meet cute was so entertaining, their first date gave me goosebumps and butterflies, their time spent together just made me so freakin happy.
The adorable small town Wakan was a character in and of itself. This book meant more to me because I have been to the town it was inspired by and know what it’s like to be from a small down and dating someone from a big city. I know that drive, I know that effort they had to put into this relationship.
The side characters were all so lovable. I loved their friends-Doug, Bri, Liz and Brian all had my heart. Bri is the friend we all need, and also who we all should strive to be. She’s hilarious and I know her book is going to be highly entertaining. The animals also have the greatest personalities and add so much love and entertainment to the storyline.
There are so many little things that were intertwined into the story from Abby’s other books, and my fangirl heart was ecstatic reading them. The detail Abby puts into her work is nothing short of amazing.
Abby’s heroes are the best book husbands! Daniel was no exception. He was so talented, sweet, loyal, loving, and just so GOOD. He empowered Alexis and also wanted to take care of her. He taught her things, and was always so proud of her.
This book was swoony, sweet, romantic, and so damn funny! I felt all the range of emotions. I can’t stop thinking about it. I stayed up until 4am reading, dreamed of it while I slept and thought about it long after I finished. I cannot wait for this to be released so I can reread the paperback and listen to the audiobook. There aren’t enough stars in all the galaxies for me to give this book!
I cannot express my gratitude enough to NetGalley, Forever and Abby Jimenez for allowing me the privilege of reading this ARC. Part of Your World comes out April 19, 2022 and is available for preorder. I already have mine preordered!
Oh my gosh, Abby has done it again! This book was as unputdownable as her first three, and while it's branched out from the previous main characters, they're still present. It's like walking to a new street in the neighborhood: familiar but fresh. Alexis and Daniel are both so relatable and lovable. Their responsibilities, friends, and their roots are as engaging as ever. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it here: this book is a must-read!
I was super excited to be chosen as an advanced reader through NetGalley for this book. I was not disappointed. This is my favorite of Abby's books. I love her writing style and have a hard time putting her books down. This one was even more magical than the others.
Abby Jimenez has done it again. She has written another romance that you can't help but love! Part of Your World is a charming romance about a doctor and a carpenter falling for each other when they are from two different worlds. It's romantic, funny, and emotional.
Alexis is an ER doctor who is trying to do her part to save lives and live up to the Montgomery name. Her family is known in the medical field with just about everyone in her immediate family being a well-known surgeon. She has always felt like she won't live up to her parent's expectations so she tries to be as perfect as she can. But is this the right path for her? She definitely begins to question this, even more, when she meets a man named Daniel. They have such a funny and unexpected meet-cute and I am shipping them from the very beginning.
Daniel is a carpenter/bed and breakfast owner/mayor. He is so proud of his town and community of Wakan and you know this is his home. The people are great and his friends are always there for him. He is charming, kind, and genuine. Love isn't in the cards for him. Well, that is until he meets a glamourous woman, Alexis.
Alexis and Daniel are total opposites but they are drawn to each other. They agree to have a quick fling, but that fling was too addicting to quit. I mean the sex between them is incredible, but there is so much more between them. They bond so quickly and yet have to keep their relationship a secret. Alexis' parents will never forgive her if she brought a man like Daniel home and she doesn't know if she can handle being a disappointment in the eyes of her family.
This book will have you oohing, ahhing, and everything in between. It isn't just your average romance. Yes, the romance is amazing but you can expect the author to tackle real-life problems. And that is what will always connect with a reader.
I give Part of Your World 5 stars. There are so many wonderful moments in the book. And I just applaud Abby for always handling tough subjects like abuse in such a fitting way that is both raw and delicate. I love that I can always count on Abby to give me a read that I just adore and want to flip the pages so quickly because I can't wait to see how everything turns out. I swear her writing just keeps on getting better. I can't wait for everyone to read this opposites-attract romance because it will tug at your heartstrings, have you cracking up, and leave you shedding a tear or two.
Abby Jimenez has become one of my favorite authors, and Part of Your World is honestly her best book yet. This book made me laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters and the town of Wakan. Part of Your World is a romantic comedy layered with deeper issues, such as personal trauma, familial obligations, and abusive relationships. It is extremely well written, and Abby Jimenez did a masterful job tackling these difficult topics.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this book. I loved it so much, and can’t wait to reread it when my preorder arrives in April 2022!
This was my 1st Abby Jimenez book. I have The Friend Zone series, but they remain in my endless TBR stacks.
This was a cute book. I loved the writing style. It was an easy read and the story progressed at a great pace.
I liked some characters more than others and wanted that acorn tree to completely topple over (you'll know who I'm talking about when you read the book).
This book did a good job of reminding the audience that there are all forms of abuse in the world. Not all leave physical marks, but all deserve to be recognized.
I'll put Jimenez's other books closer to the top of my shelf after reading this book. And, after I find them.
Abby Jimenez has done it again! The dialogue is well-written and the characters are beautifully developed. This is a powerful story, not only about love, but about navigating the challenge of taking the "expected" path vs. the path less travelled, in defiance of family and traditions. That theme is woven throughout the book among the various characters - Alexis, Daniel, Alexis' brother, even her mother. I laughed, I cried, I rooted for Alexis and Daniel to have it all. And I will not feel like my life is complete until I have a pajama-wearing baby goat! Can't wait for Bri's story next!
Abby Jimenez has done it again. She is able to blend laugh-out-loud humor, steamy romance, and hard-hitting issues. This book is only slightly related to her previous works with a few fun nods that her devoted readers will appreciate. There's a bit of small-town magic too, reminiscent of Sarah Addison Allen. I think Jimenez could get me to a five star rating if she didn't tie up the serious themes so neatly and quickly and (dare I say) unrealistically. Readers who are survivors of domestic violence should know that this story deals with various forms of domestic abuse.
Wow, I just gulped that book up in twenty four hours! What a balance between being a delightfully cute romance and also serious at times read. I love that this book hit so many worlds at once. The income differences of city dwellers and rural folks. The way in which your family can define your life, yet not limit who you become.
The fact that this rom-com type book also addresses some triggering relationship abuse made me love it more. Someone out there will read this book and recognize some similarities between their own life— And someone, at least one person will get help.
I love being in love and this the love story didn’t disappoint. As always Abby Jimenez gets five chunky love stars from me!
Abby is always a must read for me.
When Alexis goes off the road because she tried to not hit the raccoon in the middle of it Daniel comes to her rescue and pulls her out of the ditch. He later sees her at the local VFW grabbing a bite to eat. His buddies have a bet going $100 to the person who can take her home. Daniel, not wanting to win the bet but feels compelled to help her get to her car ends up taking her home because, well he had a baby goat. Then next morning Alexis has Cinderella moment and leaves a shoe that was stepped in dog poop behind.
Alexis is a Montgomery and has high expectations set for her to become the next chief and the hospital her great great grandparents opened. She broke up with her long time boyfriend after realizing he was a manipulative abuser like her dad is even though no one else in her circle of friends can see it. Daniel is a breath of fresh air but he lives two hours away, would not make it in her social circle , and is 10 year younger than her.
I normally inhale Abby’s books but this one I decided to take my time reading and I’m glad I did. She can write about much needed to be discussed serious topics, but also need light hearted and laugh out loud funny while sprinkling romance in between.
thank you to the publisher for my early review copy!
i can’t believe i cannot order a paperback right now so i can put it next to my absolute favorite books. there aren’t enough words to describe how much i loved this story.
from the beginning, and by beginning i mean the first chapter, i knew this book was going to become one of my favorites. daniel and alexis’s chemistry was obvious since their first interaction. and i didn’t only fell in love with them, i fell in love with wakan and its people too. i haven’t read much small town romances, but this one has become my absolute favorite.
this book was perfect. it made me happy, it made me sad, it made me angry, but in the end, everything i felt was worth it. alexis and daniel have the most beautiful love story, and even though it’s a very difficult one, there was no way they couldn’t get a happy ending. alexis’s strenght was incredible. she’s one of the best characters i’ve ever read about, and even though my heart broke for her, i was so so so happy about the choices she made for herself. daniel… well. he’s made it to the top of my book boyfriends list. he’s there with brendan taggart, ryke meadows and zafir ansari. i’m starting to realize i have a type when it comes to my book boyfriends, and i love to see it.
the romance was god tier. i swear, i could read a hundred books about alexis and daniel, and i would not get tired. they’re perfect, and they fought so hard for their love that by the time i finished the book, i was completely satisfied. sometimes books don’t finish the way we want, and that’s obviously okay, but in this case, everything i was hoping for happened. the best feeling? when a book gives everything you wanted.
i loved doug, brian, liz and bri, too. they were amazing side characters. liz’s story was hard to read but so rewarding in the end. and bri was the best friend ever! i can’t wait for her book. i know it’s going to be awesome. i hope we get lots of glimpses of daniel and alexis in it.
part of your world is out april 19th, and up for preorder now!
tw: domestic abuse (on page), mental and emotional abuse, parent neglect, parent abuse, depression, ptsd
Part of Your World is such a sweet love story about two people who come from different worlds (small town & big city). This book will suck you into their world and you won't be able to put this book down!
To date this is my favorite book by Abby Jimenez. I held my breath for the entire second half of the book because I was scared Abby was about to break my heart. I LOVED the story so much and the ending was perfect. I will be sharing my thoughts closer. to the pub date but everyone needs to read this one!
💭𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒: Daniel is the 28 year old mayor of the small town of Wakan. He is the type of person who will give you the shirt off of his back and help others. Alexis lives in the city, has a very intense job, and just broke up with her fiancee. As Alexis drives home from a funeral she ends up stranded in a ditch. Daniel helps Alexis tow her vehicle out of a ditch. After she is rescued she heads to a local bar, where Daniel is coincidentally. That same night they have a one-night stand. Neither is looking for something long term, Alexis lives 3-4 hours way, there is a 9 year age difference. Finally, Alexis’ family would never approve of Daniel because she comes from a prominent family where her appropriate husband, job, and friends are expected to be a certain way, rich, well-educated, and come from good families. Daniel is expected to run his family's Inn in Wakan. Both Alexis and Daniel struggle to do what is expected of them. With all their differences will they be able to go the distance?
This is Jimenez's fourth novel and it was completely different from her three previous books. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Emotional abuse, parental substance abuse and parental neglect and its affects years after leaving the proverbial nest are front in center here. I wanted to scream and yell in frustration at some of the MC's actions. I find that often times I want to yell and friends in the same way, but know that is not what the person needs. Alexis and Daniel have compassion and understanding for each other. As Alexis says "grace costs you nothing." This book gives you that in spades. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, centered around Alexis' best friend.
This was an amazing book. Abby Jimenez took very sensitive and serious subject matter and handled it beautifully. I found myself relating to Alexis as I escaped a relationship much like hers. I laughed, cried, screamed and cheered as she came to terms with her past, her parents and her future. The juxtaposition of worlds was spot on and she takes time to build complex relationships within those worlds, and show how you can have both. Abby just gets better with every book. Can’t wait for the next one.
This is a tough review to write. There’s a lot I loved about this book - so definitely don’t be put off because I didn’t love it. I’m going to write more about what I did and didn’t love but there will be spoilers so stop here if you don’t want them, seriously. Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for the advance reading copy.
Things I loved:
- the writing. I love Abby Jiminez’s humor and writing voice and will continue to jump to read whatever she writes next.
- Wakan - this town is truly the star of the book and I loved everything about it. I was surprised and delighted by the touches of magical realism. I want there to be more and more and more books in this town - I want to see them all fall in love!
- Daniel - truly couldn’t love him more. At one point I got some total Ted Lasso vibes from him and I was here for it. I love how open and vulnerable he is and how well he cares for the people in his town.
- Bri - I love her and I CANNOT wait for her book!!
What I didn’t:
In a word, Alexis. I really feel like she treated Daniel pretty horribly through most of the book and I think he deserved someone to treat him better. When he went to surprise her and realized all she had kept from him - I was rooting hard for him to fall in love with someone else, maybe Bri. I understand and appreciate that she grew and changed but I really struggle with her. I think if the roles had been gender swapped and the male lead character behaved the way she did - no one would accept it. I don’t think it’s okay because she’s a woman. I was annoyed that she couldn’t stand up to her parents sooner - but even if that was true, there was NO REASON for her to lie by omission about so much to Daniel. She could have told him about Neil and what was going on.
I have loved every Abby Jimenez book and Part of Your World is just as amazing as her other books! Abby not only knows how to create charismatic swoon worthy characters she also has the ability to make you feel like you are right there next to the characters, seeing their accomplishments and hardships. Daniel and Alexis are from two different worlds. Alexis is the extravagant city doctor and Daniel is the small town carpenter. I loved reading their love story. As with all of Abby's books I laughed out loud and cried my eyes out right along with the characters. I think that's why I love her books so much. There is one scene where I really FELT Daniel's emotions. It was written so well and so beautifully that I felt like I was right there with them. Most of time with romantic relationships in books I always know I'm reading about made up people but this felt like it was real. There were some "magical" elements about the small town but surprisingly it didn't take me out of the story like usual. The chemistry between Daniel and Alexis was so strong and true that it made the story that much better. Another thing I love is how all of her books are connected in little ways. It makes reading them that much more fun seeing the little Easter eggs and figuring out the connections between other characters. If you haven't read Abby Jimenez yet then you are severely missing out! Go now and read the first book The Friend Zone, I promise you won't be disappointed!
Abby Jimenez does it again! She truly has a knack for this genre. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for one of my favorite romance authors! I have enjoyed all her previous works as well and this one just continues along the same pattern. The reader gets a beautiful, deep dive into a couple’s love story. At play here is also the all too often impossible expectations and stress that get put on young adults, often at the expense of other ambitions. There are other serious topics approached in this work, like emotional and physical abuse. If you enjoyed Abby’s previous books, you are sure to enjoy this one too!
Abby Jimenez is an auto buy authors for me so as soon as she announced Part Of Your World I knew I had to get my hands on it. Thank you so much to Netgalley & Forever Pub for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!
What I enjoyed:
-HELLO baby goat in pajamas!!
-no distinguished romcom trope
-growth of Alexis & Daniel as partners & as individuals
-small town vibes/community
What I struggled with:
-wasn’t super invested in the MCs romance
-Daniel seemed *dare I say* too good to be true
-the dick pic scene just seemed weird & uncomfortable to me
The thing I most admire about Jimenez’s writing is her ability to intersperse serious subject matter with laugh out loud moments. While this wasn’t my favorite of her books (The Friend Zone still holds that distinction) I would still recommend this book to those who enjoy her writing!
