Abby has done it again. Right from the very beginning this book sucked me in and captivated me. I laughed. I cried. It was absolutely perfect.
Abby has outdone herself yet again. Once you open the book you won’t be able to put it down until it’s finished. The pages practically turn themselves and the characters come to life as if they’re old friends. Wakan becomes your town. Every detail is so meticulous they fill your senses, you can smell Daniel’s French toast, feel Hunter’s fur beneath your palm, hear the crackle of the fire. There’s magic in every page that brings you into a new world, feeling every emotion the characters feel. Laughing, crying and then laughing again
Oh my gosh, I literally screamed out loud when I got the email saying I'd been approved to read an ARC of Part of Your World! Abby is one of my favorite authors, and I've loved all of her other books so much. Could she keep it going with book #4? You bet she did! I laughed so many times (squirrel!) and cried about the same amount of times. It was just beautifully written. I can't wait to buy it when it comes out officially and read it all over again! (Plus, one of the characters has the name of my husband, and my name was even mentioned in there too as an ex-girlfriend of one character- so that was really awesome!). Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC!!
Received this book last night as an ARC from NetGalley. Read in less than 24 hours!
O. M. G. Where do I begin?
Abby’s books always strike a deep chord within me. With every book she writes, she explores some deep crevice in my soul and not only speaks to it, but speaks OF IT. She writes of real life situations, with characters that could be real people, who speak with voices that are 100% true to life. People communicating like people do. Hard conversations. Conversations that should happen but don’t. Sarcasm. And hilarious!
Alexis and Daniel come from two different worlds in all ways. But from the moment they met, they click. But their worlds can’t mesh. They don’t work together at all. So how do they make their love work? Or do they?
About halfway through you’ll think you know where this is going. You’d be wrong.
Abby Jimenez is hands down my favorite author. And this book just reinforces that belief. It stands on its own, but if you’ve read her previous books, there are Easter eggs throughout.
I’m so glad I got to read this. I can’t wait to read it again! Thank you to Estelle for granting me access to the ARC!
Amazing… POYW has all of the Abby hallmarks, Nadia cakes, dogs and a lot of humor. What got to me with this book is how she handled one of the most terrifying and soul crushing experiences anyone could ever go through, and she does it without grace and honesty. As a survivor, it means so much to me that she took the time to get it right and to explain what victims feel and why most don’t leave. This is one of the first fiction novels I have read that pulls back the layers to expose the harsh reality that comes with surviving. Thank you, Abby, from the bottom of my heart.
Spring 2022 needs to come ASAP so everyone can read this book!
Hi, I requested this book less than 24 hours ago, and I’m still freaking out about how much I LOVED IT.
While driving home from a funeral, Alexis swerves to avoid a raccoon and ends up stuck in a ditch waiting for a tow. When Daniel pulls over to help her, she ends up in his small village. Their attraction to each other is evident, but since they come from completely different worlds, it would never work out… right?
Let’s just start by saying that I didn’t even need to read the synopsis to know that I needed to read this book when it was announced. Abby Jimenez writes exactly the types of books that I love to read. They have heart, passion, and I love their dual perspectives. I love seeing both characters’ mindsets.
CW: emotional and physical abuse
Abby’s books always seem to tackle subjects that deserve more attention. I thought the discussion of abuse in this novel was heartbreaking, but still hopeful. Seeing Alexis’s perspective shift throughout the novel was really great, especially after seeing her so stuck. I always love a character who goes to or talks about therapy, so another big win!
Daniel was an absolute sweetheart. (Nothing like a man fabricated by a female author to make your breath catch) I loved his small town helper mentality, and how much of himself he puts into everything he does. He was so swoony, and he is on the roster of book boyfriends now 💁♀️
I really want to read more about Doug and his petting zoo - I’m begging for more Kevin Bacon the pig. (And of course, the sweet baby goat!)
Also, the scene with the ring light had me HOWLING. (If you know, you know 🤣)
I’m preordering my physical copy, because I’m going to need a reason to read this again and again! What an absolute treat. If you’re already an Abby fan like me, you’ll love this one!
Thanks to #NetGalley and @readforeverpub for the galley in exchange for an honest review. Expect more gushing from me closer to the release!
How often do you finish a book (*cough cough* 3am *cough cough*), and think, "Wow - when can I read that again??" When I got to the end of Part of Your World I 100% knew I wanted to re-read it ASAP, and tell all my friends to pre-order a copy (I'll have my physical copy in April 2022)!
Alexis is a talented doctor who genuinely cares for her patients, with a family legacy at a prestigious hospital. One night, on her way home from a funeral, she swerves to avoid an animal on the road, and ends up getting towed out of a ditch by a hunky, bearded snack of a guy! Daniel is a small-town guy with a big heart that genuinely cares about the people in the town in which he lives, as well as those who come into his sphere. When they meet again as Alexis stops for food, sparks fly, and their lives will never be the same - but only if Alexis can accept what she's truly feeling.
Abby Jimenez's quick wit is on display on every page with sparkling dialogue and laugh out loud puns -a pig named Kevin Bacon, and a duck named Duck Norris?! These characters will be living rent-free in my brain for a long time with fully-realized and developed backstories, points of view, and a love story that winds its way into your heart. The other characters in this book are delightful as well: Doug, Liz, Bri, and Pops are so real, and down-to-earth. It made me wish the town (village) of Wakhan was real and I could go live there myself! And Abby uses pop culture so seamlessly - the main characters quote The Princess Bride to each other? Inconceivable!
In addition, what I find absolutely amazing, is that in each of her novels, Abby brings up topics that invite serious contemplation. In Part of Your World, she handles the internal thoughts of what physical AND emotional abuse looks like (as well as what it's like when no one believes you are being abused). She does so in such a grace-filled manner that I found myself with tears on my face as Alexis realized her worth, partially because of Daniel's words and love.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
My deepest thanks to Forever for the opportunity to stay up and read this book in one sitting.
A huge thank you to Forever for an advanced copy of Part of Your World.
I have never before been so happy for an auto-approval on Netgalley from a publisher. I immediately dropped the book I was reading to pick up my kindle and start reading Part Of Your World by Abby Jimenez. I don't know how she does it, but her books have be laughing out loud and just a huge smile on my face while reading (even when I'm crying).
Her meet cutes are the absolute best. I never highlight passages when I read, but there was just so many things here that I had to. Baby goats in pajamas, Kevin Bacon ans so many more...
I laughed, I cried and I loved this book. I can't put into words how much I love this book. Daniel is my new book boyfriend and you need to read this book.
I love her note at the end and some of the themes. Like all Abby Jimenez books there is some very real and very serious life issues and Abby has the perfect way of combining romance, comedy and real life into the best thing you've ever read.
This comes out April 19th!! PRE ORDER IT NOW!! Oh, and how long do I have to wait for Bri's story?
Never have I dropped everything quicker than when I got the approval for this book. Abby Jimenez has quickly become one of my favorite, auto-buy authors. The Happy Ever After Playlist was my top read in 2020 and is the constant bar I rate my reads on. Part of Your World was so incredibly good, I'm not sure when I'm going to fully recover.
Part of Your World brings together two unlikely people in the most magical of places and births a beautiful love story that leapt from the pages. This book is charming and funny all while taking you on an emotional journey that will tug at your heart strings and simultaneously make you sob uncontrollably multiple times. Jimenez is a master of developing characters that feel real and overcome major life obstacles to find their true love.
The chemistry between the two main characters is OFF THE CHARTS from the first few interactions. It's never forced and develops completely organically. Despite an almost 10 year age gap and starting after a one night stand, Alexis and Daniel are perfect for each other. One of the best parts of relationships is how you grow together and throughout the book, the pair push one another outside of their comfort zone and make each other want to be better and want more from life. These two make me believe in true love and set a high standard for what a relationship should be like. They weather storms and fight for one another. The entire journey, my heart fell in, but also simultaneously broke at the same time.
Alexis has a lot to live up to and she is (understandably) broken. Reading her transformation gave me hope. While Alexis feels bound to family legacy and high pressure, she stills gives her all to her patients and to Daniel, without batting an eyelid. Even as a giving person, she does not truly understand her privilege. Yet, she helps each person that comes into her wake. But the biggest hurdle she has to overcome is accepting her feelings for Daniel. The amount Alexis wars internally over her attraction to Daniel and lists every reason why he doesn’t work in her life just hurts my heart
I think I have truly found my new book boyfriend. Daniel is a diamond in the rough. He is incredibly sexy, not only physically (hello tall bearded man), but also emotionally, with his care and compassion for others. He is thoughtful, patient, generous and an all-around good guy. His small acts of love for Alexis is totally endearing and I found myself falling for him right alongside Alexis. He breaks the mold of the type of men she’s used to, but more importantly, he helps her see her worth and helps her feel truly loved.
Part of Your World was totally enchanting and had me hooked from the very first pages. Alexis' best friend Bri had me rolling laughing and I cannot wait for her story to come in 2023. I loved the nods to nonfiction reading and the deep roots of both the Grant and Montgomery legacies coupled with the tradition and rich history of Wakan and Grant House gave me a historical boner.
In pure Abby fashion, she delves into tough topics within the safe confines of a romance novel. Not only are wealth and status gaps portrayed, there are pivotal story lines that deal with domestic abuse, both physical and emotional.
A huge thanks to Forever for the advanced copy. Part of Your World is out April 2022.
I would legitimately follow a clown into a sewer for an Abby Jimenez book, and “Part of Your World” makes that even more likely should the opportunity present itself. Abby’s trademark is a feel-good blend of pop culture references, laugh-out loud humor, and ties back to former characters make you smile even when you know you are probably going to get all the feels and some tears by the end. It's worth it.
The heroine, Alexis Montgomery (with shades of a very fabulous Grey’s Anatomy character) is a talented, classy, sophisticated woman living a dream as a highly respected Minneapolis doctor, but her life is not as perfect as it looks to others. And our hero, Daniel Grant is the adorable, gorgeous, funny unicorn of a small town mayor that we would all give up tourist status for. The supporting characters (Ali’s best friend Bri, her brother Derek, the townspeople of Doug, Liz, Brian, and Popeye) play integral roles and you’ll want to know more about all of their stories, which to me is the sign of a great book. And you can’t forget the animal friends that make this all work too! From the couple’s raccoon-tastic meet cute, to Chloe the pajama’ed baby goat, to the delightful town pig, to the goodest good dog Hunter, it’s all just perfection. They aren’t just there to serve as plot points for Alexis and Daniel’s story as they push-and-pull (well one pushes, the other pulls) through their struggles – distance, time, age, socioeconomic status, and even feelings of self-worth and finding your place in the world.
I loved every second of it and can't wait to re-read this one, all her other books, and eagerly await the next one!
