Much as Brigid doesn’t desire a husband, her family decide she definitely needs a season, and they send her to London from her Highland home.
After loosing his mother Frank knows he needs a wife, both for his family heir and his own needs.
After meeting Brigid he’s smitten and no one else will do.

Although these two experience love at first sight, they also don’t give in to those feelings, they have little in common really, and opposite personalities, but the feelings persist and eventually they can’t deny their lives and destinies are entwined.

Fun easy to read and satisfying.
A very good one to relax and enjoy.

I love the MacNaughton family, their closeness, their sense of clan and their stories! A Bonny Pretender centers around the hero’s broken heart at his mother’s deception. Frank was raised by a cruel father and a mother who did her best to protect him. But once Frank meets Bridgid MacNaughton, his life changes. Their quick romance was charming and believable, especially as he went to London to find a wife. You could say he was on the hunt. That is why the ‘marriage mart’ existed during that time period.

Bridgid went to London to join the marriage mart as sent by her family. These two finding each other and making a love match is super sweet. She is a tomboy at heart as Frank finds out. Yet, it did not matter to him. He fell in love with Bridgit and loved her all the more as he got to know her. She felt the same about him. It’s as if their hearts knew what their minds did not.

Throw in extended family on both sides and you have a charming romance. I loved that Frank found Bridgid to be the calm in his storm. He endured her brothers mocking and teasing to pass the test of joining the MacNaughton family. She helped him to find solace in the life in which he found himself.

I hope Ms. Wynne keeps the MacNaughton Clan growing and loving for these delicious romances. They are strong, brave and loyal whether male or female MacNaughtons and find their equals. Although part of a series, Pretender is easily read as a stand-alone.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A Bonny Pretender is a fun, bubbly, easy to read treat. This novel takes the reader on a journey full of secrets, passion, and blossoming love. We get to explore London to Scotland, with lovely descriptions and colorful characters.

Brigid MacNaughton has grown up rough and tumble in the wilds of Scotland. Brigid travels to London for a season to appease her mother. Brigid does well hiding her true nature, acting the role of proper and demure debutante. Frank, Lord Raines has had to deal with a tremendous deception from his late beloved mother and is learning to live with a lie while trying to discover more about his true family. Growing up with a loveless, cruel father, Frank yearns for a loving wife and family. Frank and Brigid meet and the sparks are instantaneous, but they are both holding back. The couple must trust that their burgeoning love can overcome the misdirections and omissions.

Brigid and Frank are both interesting, energetic characters. Brigid’s passion and big personality compliments Frank’s quiet and reserved nature. It is love at first sight, the physical and emotional connection between the couple was magnetic. The plot moved well and was easy to follow. This book was a fast, light read that left me happy. I enjoyed Frank’s journey from being disappointed and alone to gaining family and love. A Bonny Pretender is the third book in A MacNaughton Castle Romance. I loved the integration of the English and Scottish ways. If you are looking for a happy escape, pick up this book, it will make you smile!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
