Brain-Body Parenting really takes a look at the underlying foundations of behavior and challenges parents to investigate why a child is acting the way he/she is. Rather than set up a reward or punishment system, we can look at how our environment or surroundings may be affecting our child.
Some parts of the book were already in my wheelhouse, but a few parts, such as play therapy to help sibling rivalry gave me new tools to try.
I think this is an empowering book for parenting two young boys, especially now that they are not so easily satisfied with a distraction or toy. Now I need to utilize the tips in this book to help my children through their emotions and behaviors.
Thank you to Harper Wave and Harper Business and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book.
Wow - this book met me in my current season. I've been struggling with parenting my littlest ones and this book has provided a lot of insight I hadn't before considered. Delahooke challenged me to think differently (and intentionally) about biology and the reasoning behind the negative behaviors. I appreciate the consideration when writing this book; I'm hoping it'll change my parenting for the better! Well done.
