What a darling little children's book. The artwork is stunning and so is the message. I can't wait to share this one with my own children.
This was so beautiful and lovely!! It's gorgeously illustrated in warm tones and shows the journey of planting in a community garden.
The Garden We Share is a lovely picture book about seeing the cycle of life through gardening and celebrating the harvest with others. When the child's gardening partner, her grandmother, dies she is able to honor and celebrate her grandmother by planting a new garden with the seeds they gathered together.
What a beautiful children's book! Growth, patience, community, loss, and remembrance, among other subjects, are all touched on in such a delicate and thoughtful way in this story. The illustrations add so much warmth and depth to the story. I can't wait to see this title in print!
Thank you to NetGalley and North South Books for an advanced read e-copy of The Garden We Share in exchange for an honest review.

This sweet children’s book is illustrated by Julianna Swaney, the illustrator of Joanna Gaines book “We Are The Gardeners”.
Friendship between a young girl and an elderly woman blossoms as well as their garden plots. Seasons of life and death themes are featured prominently.
Written with a worldview perspective on nature and humanity. Not recommending for Faith based homeschool families.
Loved this! The text and illustrations work together here to evoke a sense of the quiet and passing time of planting in a garden. The friendship between the little girl and the old woman was beautiful and her loss at the end was handled in such a subtle way that with very young children you'd have the option of talking about it with them or skipping over it.
A perfect little picture book - bursting with hope, delight and the soul-affirming promise of a nascent new day.
As a little girl and her grandmother sow a garden we see the wonder each little seed brings, following the cycle of life laid out for us, from the tiniest green shoots emerging from the warm soil, to full and gorgeous bloom, and finally the inevitable autumn rest and winter slumber. Along the way, it’s impossible to resist, as the gorgeous illustrations invite us, along with the little gardener, to enjoy the unparalleled sounds and smells of nature in all its glory.
As a bountiful crop is produced and shared with friends and neighbors, we learn about community, about food as natured intended, and about the indescribable joy a gardener feels as caretaker and nurturer of growth and hope.
Like a whoosh of clean and sparkling air, this book is a sheer delight from start to finish - just begging to be shared with tiny budding gardeners everywhere.
A great big thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.
This is a very sweet picturebook not just about gardening but love and life as well. With life comes death and the grief of it too. Very nice and would definitely recommend if you want a picturebook for kids in your life.
I received and ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a sweet little picture book about dealing with grief and remembering those we love.
This sweet book weaves the story of life and death through the seasons, and starting with the planting of seeds in a shared community garden. The illustrations are beautiful. The story is a lovely way of opening up a conversation with young children about love, loss, and sweet memories that show up in the simplest ways, like when planting a garden.
I didn’t come here to cry OK
Very short and sweet story. Beautifully illustrated and shows a great way to process the loss of a cherished love one. I bet there are some kids that could use that right about now
This was a cute story, but I think much of it would be lost on children. Who are these women the child is gardening with? How can we make it clearer that the grandmother died? I think it is a great story to use to get kids into gardening and using the produce they grow in cooking though. Very beautifully illustrated.
This is a gentle picture book about gardening, the seasons, and intergenerational friendship. A little girl helps her elderly friend plant seeds in the garden early in the year. As they nurture their garden, the plants grow and create a lovely space where the community can spend time and share the bounty. As the year cycles back around to the beginning, there are changes in people's lives... but the little girl continues on, grateful for the memories of gardening with her friend.
I really enjoyed the descriptive language used here, which evokes a lush and abundant garden full of all sorts of wonderful things to share with the community. The illustrations, largely done in a warm colour palette, are the perfect complement to the text. I'm not sure how much appeal this will have to kids looking for an engaging story, but I can see the value of a book like this in a classroom, especially accompanying teaching about gardening or seasons.

Dear artist, you have done such an awesome job. The art and the colours are subtle yet I am here for it. All the coziness this winter needs is right here in this picture book.

"I hold the seeds tightly in my hand, each little dot full of hope and promise."
Adorable book that shares the joys of gardening and embracing the seasons of change. I love gardening and think this is a great book to share with littles.
This is such a beautifully illustrated story with a majorly heartwarming message of hope after loss. I enjoyed the creative vocabulary choices and this is definitely one I’d like to have on my shelves for my own children.
