The story of Melody continues, and I recommend reading - or re-read - "Out of my Mind" before diving into this title. I had not and could not remember many details of Melody.
This book took me longer to get into. Some of her thoughts seemed redundant and disconnected with the research and excitement she had shown for summer camp.
Despite the initial struggle I had to get into this book, I enjoyed Melody and her new friends experiences at camp. It offered a new insight into those with disabilities or those who feel different. It's great to see her continue to grow and mature in this sequel.
What an amazing follow up to Out of my Mind. I loved the references in this book to the events in the first one. Plus, seeing Melody have such a positive camp experience and making friends was beautifully portrayed. Wishing everyone could have the chance to go to sleep away camp with others who get them. I can’t wait for my students to read this one when I buy a copy or two for my classroom.
