Holly looks after her niece after her parents were killed in an accident. She has barely enough money coming in to feed them and pay Faith's school fees.
Holly takes a job as high flying Archie's personal shopper, buying Christmas for his firends and family. When he realises he needs to find himself a family for a huge promotion at work, he offers the job to Holly.
A heartwarming story, with a precocious little girl as the star, and two adults trying to find their way in a relationship.
I couldn't put the book down and highly recommend it!
A charming holiday romance that’s an utter delight!
When handsome, billionaire Archie is told he needs to go to his Godfather’s for Christmas, he hires Holly to be his personal Christmas shopper.
Holly is happy to accept the extra money as she’s been strapped for cash since her sister and brother-in-law died, leaving her to raise her 5 year-old-niece, Faith.
When Archie finds out his godfather is planning to announce the new head of the company, and he wants to name a family man the new heir, Archie begs Holly to be his fake girlfriend.
I couldn't put it down and loved every moment of this read.
I have to say I think this is my top book for Christmas reads and I will be adding it to my annual holiday re reads for years to come. The characters of Holly, Faith, and Archie just pop off the page. I enjoyed how throughout the story you get to see Archie grow with the dual voices in the story. How the authors tackle the lost of parents and dementia in another was done very well, and added more depth to the story. This is a not a spicy, but the chemistry is still off the charts between them because it's almost a slow burn.
Holly Snow is the guardian of her 4 year old niece after an accident three years earlier kills her sister and her brother-in-law. Her dreams of becoming a flight attendant and traveling the world were put on hold to care for baby Faith. She is doing all she can to care for her and keep a roof over their heads. Her friend Toni tells her that her boss needs someone to do his Christmas shopping and she leaps to take on the task.
Archibald Harrington, or Archie, is a an absolute Scrooge. He's too busy to do his own Christmas shopping and is happy to hire someone to do the work for him. When his hired help texts him, it's the last thing he expected. The two begin to talk and soon enough Holly has developed feelings for Archie.
This was a very cute holiday read. Definitely not too heavy. I enjoyed the relationship between Holly and Archie. And of course Faith is just adorable.
Thanks to NetGalley and 33 Partners & Indigo Group and an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a CUTE book! Just like watching a Hallmark Christmas movie in my opinion. I almost wish there had been more on Archie’s family AFTER his profession of love. Perfect to get you in the holiday mood.
This book was the most fantastic start to my holiday/Christmas reading! It Is a Cinderella story but Cinderella fake dates Prince Charming! Squee! I LOVE fake dating!
This book had me laughing out loud and tearing up a bit but also had me thinking about my life a little... there are some parallels from the book in terms of family things... NOT fake dating a billionaire LOL!
This was a magical read and I will be recommending it to everyone this season!
Such a cute rom-com!
This book was a cute holiday read. There were some parts in the book where I was a little thrown off by what was happening but it was good overall. It is a light read and charming read, perfect for the holiday time. I definitely recommend it!
Holly Snow has been the Mother for her five year old niece for three years since her sister and her husband were killed. Holly put her dreams on hold for her niece, Faith. She has been working three jobs to keep the bills paid. Her friend recommends Holly to do the Christmas shopping for her boss. Toni tells her boss that Holly is a personal shopper. Holly actually has never been a personal shopper and she texts her new boss constantly with questions about the gift recipients, Holly starts to develop feelings for the grumpy businessman. This is a great book. I highly recommend it.
I absolutly loved this book....rom com at its best leaving you with a feeling of well being.
Holly is full time guardian to her 5 year old neice following the death of the childs parents. However money is very tired, and whilst Holly wants the best for her, this is at times difficult. Her best friend Maggie comes up with a job opportunity for her to earn some decent xmas cash.....maggies very rich boss Archie is looking for a personal assistant to do his christmas shopping. He is a high flying career man, desperate to take over the family business. However in order to acheive this he needs to prove that he is a family orientated man.
As a business proposition, he asks Holly to be his ' girlfriend' and spend xmas with him and his extended family, with a very healthy wage packet at the end of it. Having developed an attraction to Archie Holly readily agrees, after all how dofficult can this be?
Absolutly brilliant book....highly recommend.
Holly is struggling to bring up her five year old niece after her parents are killed in a car crash. Working multiple jobs to keep afloat she takes on another job, personal shopping for her best friends boss. The last thing she was expecting was to develop feelings for him.
A cute, yet predicable holiday romance. Full of laughs and fun.
This was fun and sweet, just the perfect holiday romance! I love a good fake romance and Holly and Archie were terrific together. I really enjoyed this!!
It was so fun when Archie was spoiling Holly and her niece, Faith. I loved all their reactions to getting new things and when they got to flaunt a little bit in front of the mean moms at school. I’m petty like that.
I think even for a precocious child, that there was no way the Faith could have been 5. But she stole the show on so many occasions. And some of her misunderstandings were the best! I just couldn’t wait until Archie found out he was a lesbian!
Great story and terrific holiday romance.
Great holiday romance I enjoyed the story of a struggling Aunt trying to take care of her niece. The story was heart warming and beautiful, however the five year old dialogue did not match her age. However I enjoyed the story.
Totally loved this book! The characters were well developed and interesting! Can’t wait to read the next book in this great series!
Mistle Text is a funny, delightful and endearing read! I loved the story and the amazing characters that had me laughing out loud several times throughout the book! I couldn’t put it down. Hope and Archie paired well together. Faith, Hope's 5-year-old niece was sweet, saucy and hilarious. She's also quite intuitive and I absolutely loved her! I laughed, I loved and I cried all the way through their story! Mistle Text is a heartwarming holiday romance that’ll satisfy the soul!
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I needed my Hallmark-esque fix to get me through a bit of a reading slump. If you aren't expecting the predictability of the plot and characters, then skip this. But I don't know what you would expect from this other than that.
I am however deducting some love points for the 5-year-old Faith character. I don't care how "astute" she is supposed to be, I just don't think the dialogue fits that age range at all. Just...no.
For Libraries: A worthwhile addition to your holiday romance collections.
If you like rom-coms, you're gonna love this book.
It was the ideal blend of charming, cozy and fun. A perfect beach read that can just as easily be enjoyed alongside a hot mug of your preferred beverage, snuggled in a fluffy blanket next to a cheery fireplace.
I think Christina Lauren fans will really enjoy it. The characters were fun, the plot very cute and I liked how Holly's best friend kept pointing out all the holes and misgivings in the plan any sane person would notice/have. Oh, yeah. There's a whole plan regarding fake-dating the blurb doesn't mention for whatever reason. My favorite part was Holly's niece, Faith. She was an absolute riot, if a little unbelievably overly precocious. But she made me laugh out loud more than once, so I had a great time with her.
If you're looking for originality and surprises, this isn't the book for you. It's just a sweet, predictable Christmas story about two people from very different backgrounds falling in love.
I did have a few issues with it, though. First of all, it was too mild for my taste. There was no heat, no sexiness. Archie and Holly had good banter, and a noticeable spark but there was no fire. Also, the emotional impact of the breaking point in their relationship wasn't as big as it could have potentially been because they'd only just barely kissed by that point. The stakes felt really low.
Also, the whole fake dating thing was brought about because Archie wanted to be named CEO of the company he and his family owned (alongside other 2 families), and the guy retiring who was in charge of choosing his successor was big on family. So what better than to pretend to date a lovely girl caring for her young, orphaned niece to show the workaholic, perpetual bachelor was ready to finally settle down?
The problem was, the ending didn't feel true to Archie's character. In any case, that and the lack of physicality was what brought down my rating to 3.5⭐.
If you are in the mood for something uncomplicated, lighthearted and sweet, this book's a great choice. It's bound to leave you in a jolly good mood.
**I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley, Xpresso Book Tours and the authors**
I love these characters, the story is beautiful and although one can guess the end of the story is wonderful how the dialogues and situations are presented to go there, I just couldn't put the book down
.
A modern Cinderella from Queens who has an adorable and insightful five-year-old niece in charge. The story is so well written and out of the ordinary cliches that no body can resist to fall for them. A sweet and heart warming love story with a millionaire workaholic who begins to see the world with new eyes
.
The story had me hooked until the end and at a certain point close to tears. As soon as I knew that it is part of a series I ran to see the other books
.
Thanks to Whitney Dineen, Melanie Summers and Xpresso Book Tours for give me the chance to read this beautiful book in exchange for my honest opinion
Thank you #Netgalley for this read!
I didn't realize it was series and I can't wait to go devour more! This was a fun holiday read! We follow Holly, an amazing woman, who took in her young niece when her sister and husband died, cares for her mother with dementia. Holly has multiple side jobs to keep afloat. When her best friend Toni finds a side job for her, she was pleased to be a personal shopper for a wealthy young business man. She thought she would text Archie, to learn a bit about who she was buying holiday gifts for. Archie was a bit annoyed at first but eventually agreed to meet her for one of the gifts at a wine auction. After they meet in person each privately was intrigued by the other. We watch as the two of them interact a bit more over text and Holly eventually has to meet him again and asks if she can bring her niece, Isabelle. Isabelle was amazed by the life Archie lives, riding in a limo, eating treats and hot chocolate, little things she had never experienced before. Archie enjoyed spoiling the two girls and spoiled them even more when they agreed to portray to be in a relationship for an upcoming holiday event. Archie needed to show he was a family man to get promoted and Holly needed the money, a win win. As we can predict, things do not go as easy as they had hoped......
This book has a lot of potential to be a heartwarming Christmas piece for a modern time; including texting and instagram references. However, the actual execution fell rather flat. The climax seemed to be missing as much tension as I felt could have been conveyed and the story's conclusion was so rushed, I felt like I had been cheated out of a swoony ending. In addition, there were some issues with the main character's niece, Faith. At her age, she would certainly not be in preschool; she would be in school and even an advanced child would not speak the way she does throughout the book. It would be more realistic if she was closer to seven and in a "school for gifted youngsters" to be believable.
I think this has the bones of a good story; it just needs a little bit more padding.
An easy read with some fun notes but lacking any type of depth. Faith was my favorite character. I saw some reviews saying she wasn’t very believable as a 5 year old but I have a 7 year old daughter who definitely would have had said some of the same things at five
