Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review...I am fairly certain I requested this one solely based on the cover...and once again I got really lucky as I liked the book as much as I liked the cover. I think this might be my first by this author but I liked it so much that I will read all others that come my way. She had me looking up locations to see if they were real or if not, where they were based on...I was ready to pack up and move lol. I loved the characters, I loved the story line, and I loved the location. I had no idea it was the third in a series but it didn't affect me at all so on to the next...

I struggled to get interested in this one. The cover was beautiful which initially drew me in. I guess I like more of a romantic focus as opposed to all of the other things happening at once. Just not my thing!

This was a charming addition to the series. I loved the story of the starter dough and the romance of the setting, with the lighthouse. I loved watching the sisters rebuild a relationship. I loved watching Flannery grow stronger throughout the book. I loved watching the sisters get close to their aunt as well. It's a delightful story and highly recommended.

Sisters that have not seen each other for six years after an argument that left them not speaking that reunite for the reading of their grandmother’s will. Being brought up in an abusive household, they are only there to claim their inheritance but there are conditions in the will that will keep them at Moonglow Bay living together. This had a wonderful ending and message.
Thanks to NetGalley and publisher for the eARC.

It took me forever to read this book because I just couldn’t relate to the characters. Harper wasn’t all that likable and Flannery had so many issues starting with her abusive husband. It was really hard to get into the story and like the sisters. I may be in the minority here but this was just kind of meh for me.

Author Lori Wilde is well known for writing contemporary romances set in Texas and while I have read a couple of her books in the past, I hadn’t read one in a while, but after reading the synopsis of The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay I just knew I had to read it!

Now I’m going to put a little trigger warning here, this book contains sensitive subjects such as Emotional and Physical abuse, childhood trauma, and Alcohol addiction, if any of these are triggers for you, this may not be the book for you.

Harper and Flannery are sisters, who have a strained relationship and are brought back together over an inheritance, but it seems like fate knew that this was the moment that they needed each other. But along with reconnecting come surprises, and how wonderful some of those surprises are! Sometimes the darkness rears its ugly head, but this time Haper and Flannery have support and they prove that the Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay really does banish the darkness.

The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay is such a powerfully moving book! Not with just the romance you expect from a book by this author, but the powerful family reconnections and overcoming the hurdles of the past in order to bring happiness to the future.

We once again return to Moonglow Cove, Texas,a beautiful and charming area. With the breeze coming off of the water and the delicious out of the way seafood restaurants that are so unpretentious you're sure to want to stay awhile to sample all there is to offer.
The view from the lighthouse is fabulous.
I love stories about sisters and this one is a hit.
Sisters who are estranged get a very unexpected inheritance from their grandmother.
The thing of it is there are conditions with it and they must be followed to the specifications listed or it's all forfeited .
These sisters haven't seen each other for six years after an argument that left them not speaking.
One of the conditions is they must live together in the family lighthouse in Moonglow Bay and must reconcile. These women used to be the best of friends, the older one protecting and looking out for the younger one as they didn't have the best home life growing up.
They soon realize being apart from each other they've missed out on so much in the lives of each other, like one of the sisters has a daughter leaving the other feeling sad and left out because she hadn't known this.
Another strange condition of the will is the sisters must keep an old family starter mother sourdough alive and bake with it and enter a baking contest at the end of the summer.
What I loved about this book is it's real honestly, the characters could be your neighbors or even yourself.
I could definitely see these situations happening in real life and the character interaction was so charming with a little dram mixed in.
The book has such a positive vibe to it though.
I love seeing strong, positive women. Very uplifting, positive and charming. A fun and entertaining book.
Can't wait to read the next in the series!

Title: The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay
Author: Lori Wilde
Genre: Fiction
Rating: 3 out of 5

It was an inheritance neither sister expected--a lighthouse in Moonglow Cove, left to them by a grandmother they never knew! Harper and Flannery weren't exactly best friends either. For years, Flannery had held down the home front, taking care of their sick mother and raising a daughter, while Harper sent nothing but checks. And after their mother's funeral the two sisters had an argument that left them not speaking for six years--why, Harper didn't even know she has a niece!

But life has a way of changing when you least expect it. And the sisters discover their grandmother's will has a stipulation: the two of them must live there, work out their issues... and compete in baking challenges with a hundred-year-old sourdough starter. If either of them gives up, or fails to keep the starter alive, they lose the lighthouse. Will they be able to come together and see their grandmother's wish come true? Or will these two sisters forever be estranged?

This book just wasn’t a good fit for me. I didn’t like Harper at all, so I wasn’t invested in her story even a little bit. She was too self-absorbed for me. I did like Flannery quite a bit, and her daughter was wonderful. I feel like the author kept some things really distant that should have been seen from the characters’ eyes. Instead, the action happens off-stage. Or, the action happens on-stage, but comes literally out of nowhere, so it feels disjointed. Just not a good fit for me.

Lori Wilde is from Texas. The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay is her newest novel.

This was a wonderful story of how our past shapes our future decisions even though they may be painful for us. The story of two broken sisters coming together by an inheritance they both need but not necessarily want. The power of love and forgiveness can and does make the broken whole if we can open ourselves and just listen.

At the funeral of their extremely abusive mother Harper and Flannery had a huge argument and didn't speak for six years, until they were notified of an inheritance left by their grandmother. The grandmother their mother told them was dead. In order to collect the inheritance they have to go to their mother's birthplace, Moonglow Bay, where they meet their Aunt Jonnie. At the reading of the will the sisters learn they will inherit the lighthouse and caretaker's house if they win the bread baking contest on July 4th using the 150 year old sourdough starter.

This book is so good. The author drew me in immediately and I had a hard time putting it down. From Willow, Flannery's wheelchair bound five year old daughter with Spina Bifida and a winning spirit, to newly unemployed Harper who trusts too easily and tries to fix everyone's problem, to Flannery who is on the run from an abusive husband, to Aunt Jonnie who want her family together I was captivated.

The conversation was witty were it needed to be and poignant at times. The abuse will will make you tear up and all through the book you will be routing for everybody to get what they truly deserve.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book - all thoughts are my own. Sisters Flannery and Harper (love their names) are called back to the small town for the reading of their Grandmothers will. The sisters both need a change in their lives Harper leaving a job in New York and Flannery leaving an abusive relationship. Along with leaving them the lighthouse is a stipulation that they must keep the 150 year old sourdough starter going - that part reminded me of the friendship dough that was popular years ago. This book was a great story of womans fiction and I totally recommend - I need to read the other books in the series however this book is a great stand alone.

Two sisters, Harper and Flannery, have been estranged for years. The last time they'd seen each other had been when they had a big blow-out with each other at their mother's funeral. Now, they find themselves drawn back together again by an unlikely inheritance from a grandmother they never knew. But to claim the inheritance, they must put their differences aside and stay together in Moonglow Cove for the next six weeks, learning the intricacies of sourdough bread making.

I found this to be an incredibly powerful story of the effects of generational dysfunction and how it affects entire families. Some of the story was achingly painful to read, but there were also times when I simply wanted to cheer for the progress Harper and Flannery were making in resolving their past and changing their future.

The tidbits of breadmaking information at the start of each chapter were appealing too.

Thank you to Lori Wilde, William Morrow, and NetGalley for an advanced review copy.

I previously read, reviewed and enjoyed The Moonglow Sisters by Lori Wilde so was delighted to receive this ARC. This time the story is about Harper and Flannery. They are sisters who became estranged. Flannery was the one who did what was expected while Harper sent money but was not, herself, present. So, all was not well between them.

The two were startled, to put it mildly, to discover that they had inherited a lighthouse with conditions. Will the magic of Moonglow Bay help these two much as it helped the three women in The Moonglow Sisters? Readers know the answer to that question. The enjoyment is in getting there in this 400 plus page book, and one to sink into. Emotions will be roused and pages will be turned. As an added bonus, baking is one of the themes in the story.

Readers note that, while the setting of the story is the same as in The Moonglow Sisters, the books can be read in any order. They are telling different stories.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I love this book so much! There are lots of books published about people inheriting an old inn, a B & B, an oceanfront cottage etc. etc. This book is that plus so much more. I love the main characters, sisters who will inherit a lighthouse. They have interesting histories and interesting current lives, but the challenges that come with the possible inheritance are so involved and heartwarming. I loved to read about them coming to understandings about who they are, why they are who they are, and successfully moving into a new future.

Enjoyable. Not the best in this genre or storyline I've read but I would recommend it as a beach bag read.

4 1/2 stars

Flannery and Harper have been estranged for six years, ever since an altercation after their mother’s funeral. Now they’ve been called to Moonglow Cove, Texas for the reading of the will of their grandmother who they didn’t even know had been still alive. The lives of both sisters have recently been turned upside down and what initially seems like a break may not be one as the sisters have to live together and work together and then compete against each other as part of their grandmother’s bidding in Lori Wilde’s The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay.

Lori Wilde has once again created a book I couldn’t put down. Funny, smart, heart-rending, it was all there. First off, I missed the entire sourdough craze during the quarantine so I didn’t know all of the bits of information that were shared throughout The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay–and I loved it. This book actually made me want to learn how to work with sourdough starter and all that encompasses, except for the hard bits, of course.

Another thing that I really appreciate was the dialogue. This book has some of the best dialogue that I’ve read recently. Wilde knows how to write witty repartee. The dialogue is staccato-sharp, funny, and just made me grin as I read it.

The characters are also so very well written. No shortcuts are taken to make these characters believable. The Campbell family tree was dissected psychologically and it was fascinating stuff; if that sounds dry, I can assure you it wasn’t. The relationship between the sisters was lovely despite a rough start. I loved how the other characters came together to make an extended family.

And lastly, The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay is just so smartly written. From the observations about people in general, to bits about how to live a true life, to what makes a family, this just feels and reads like a story expressed from the heart with kindness and generosity and tolerance. An honest feel good novel.

Despite the fact that this is part of the Moonglow Cove series, it is definitely a standalone.

The Lighthouse on Moonglow Bay by Lori Wilde. Families can be difficult and none more so than the Campbells of Moonglow Bay. Flannery and Harper who had both arrived to hear the reading of their grandmother's will. A grandmother they had been told had died years before. Their Aunt Jonnie was there, as well as Flannery's five years old daughter and Gray, the executor of the will. It was unfathomable. They had to keep alive a hundred and fifty year old sour dough starter, together. They had to learn to bake bread, together. They had to end a bake-off and win in order to get any money. They hadn't spoken in six years. Harper didn't even know about her sister's child. The whole thing was very complicated and nothing either one wanted to do. Sadly, neither of them had much choice.

The love was there. It just had to be dug out and exposed to the air so it could grow. Harper fell in love with her niece, Willow, who had spina bifida. If that wasn't hear-breaking, what is? The kid was indomitable and helped make the rest of it work. There were tears, lies, recriminations, and love. There was so much more. There was crazy and hatred. There was also kindness. The story hurt my heart. I couldn't put it down. The next revelation might be the one. All families make mistakes. Some are more egregious than others. This family had made them all, and more. Somehow they would manage to work it out. Wonderful story, Lori Wilde!

Flannery and Harper, are sisters who haven't spoken in years. Their mother, Tia, was abusive, and when their grandmother passed away they had to go to Texas for the reading of the will.
Flannery and Harper, are sisters who haven't spoken in years. Their mother, Tia, was abusive, and when their grandmother passed away they had to go to Texas for the reading of the will.
Their grandmother had stipulations, on how they would inherit the cottage and lighthouse, and it seemed impossible. But, they both needed a place to live, and their lives were falling apart, so they decided to take on the challenge of working together. As they started reconnecting, they learned some things about each other, they also learned about the Campbell curse, and the history of their family. There were also secrets finally being revealed and how that affects the sisters. Gray was interested in history, and he helped the sisters realize their history was just that the history of their ancestors, and what they learned from it, could either keep the same cycle going, or they could accept that it was history and focusing on finding a path that would lead them to a better life, becoming a better person, and changing not only their future but the lives they have now. It isn't going to be easy, because they have to focus on making the changes they need for themselves, and letting go of the past, the hurt feelings, and changing their mindset.
It is an interesting book, that covers all aspects of Flannery and Harper's journey after deciding to receive the inheritance. It isn't a smooth journey, there are setbacks, a few times it was so intense I found myself holding my breath until I found out the outcome. We do find out whether they could end the cycle and create a better way of life.
I received an ARC from William Morrow and Custom House through NetGalley.

Sisters Flannery and Harper Campbell haven’t spoken since their mother's funeral. But six years later, their grandmother's will reunites the sisters, bringing them both back to the family lighthouse and caretaker’s cottage in the small community of Moonglow Cove.

The sisters will inherit the family property, steeped with rich history, if they can keep the family’s 150 year old sourdough starter alive, learn to bake with it, and win the town's upcoming 4th of July baking contest.

A lot has happened in their time apart, but the sisters are both in need of a fresh start. As they get to know their estranged aunt and spend time together, the sisters realize that what unites them is stronger than what drove them apart. Together, the sisters face unforeseen challenges – natural disaster, Campbell family secrets, betrayal, and a past that returns to threaten their future.

At its heart, Harper and Flannery’s story is one of heartbreak and healing, secrets and second chances, and regret and redemption. The sisters begin to understand that they must first come to grips with their family's past if they are to learn from it and break the damaging generational cycle of it.

Heart-rending, poignant and bittersweet, but inspiring, uplifting and redeeming, Wilde hits all the right notes in this masterful, extraordinary tale of two sisters. Its wide appeal makes it an excellent choice for lovers of any genre, and its profound impact will remain long after the last page. It will be one of your most moving reads this year, so don’t miss it.
