Being snowed in with your crush!

Amy Heller hated Christmas and just wanted to read some books and drink boxed wine at a friend’s cabin after finding out her now ex-boyfriend had cheated on her. Amy wasn’t ready for her former crush Ryder Long to show up because he had also borrowed the cabin from a friend. Amy wants Ryder to leave but their getting snowed in at the cabin with no electricity and mistletoe might be the Christmas gift they needed.

You should read Hate Me Under the Mistletoe because it’s a Kelly Jamieson hocky romance and I loved their time in Garland Grove!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cute friends to enemies that turns to enemies to lovers with the Christmas spirit in the middle.

First if off, thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an independent and honest review.

I went into this book completely blind and without reading any previous book from Kelly Jamieson.

The book has a dual POV and each chapter indicates if we are following Amy or Ryder. The writing is easy to follow but bringing a mix of hard truths and laughs along the story. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in few hours. The smut is hot and cute.

The characters felt real, easy to connect with through the story. However, I found Amy’s behaviour a bit childish until we got to know more about her.
Amy and Ryder met when they were teenagers and he supported her through a very difficult time. However, they ended their friendship in a bad way and with a big misunderstanding between them. 9 years later, they will end up trapped together in a small cottage, only a few days before Christmas as they were both trying to escape different things: Amy, disappointment and hurt and Ryder his workaholic habits. Snow made a heavy apparence and they found themselves in the middle of nowhere, without a way out to escape the unspoken events and the tension growing each day…oh and no electricity.

I liked that Amy is a woman, in a very manly sports world, breaking the pattern and inspiring younger girls to fight for her dreams. As I mentioned before, I found her a bit childish but once you scratched the surface, we found a vulnerable, self conscious woman who has been fighting all her life and struggles to find herself worthy. She is a strong, funny, clever and sweet woman.
Ryder was a horny 18 years old boy trying to be honourable and managing the situation poorly. Adult Ryder is funny, sexy, hardworking and a family man. And he loves Christmas!
Together…they are fire and the banter between them is one of the best things about this book, really funny and hot.

Let’s not forget that this is a Christmas inspired book and, therefore, we have cuteness, “aww moments” and the warm feeling that with love, all is possible.

This book is perfect for a cold evening, on a comfy sofa with a blanket and hot chocolate as company. Totally recommend this book if you are in the mood for a cute romance, easy to read standalone book.

This is a spin off of the Heller brothers series. Amy Heller is having a bad holiday season, her dream job of working for a women’s pro hockey team is over because of the league folding, she catches her boyfriend cheating, and finds out he applied for the same job she wants. She decides to lick her wounds alone at a friend’s cabin over Christmas. Ryder Long has decided to take a few days off before meeting his family for Christmas, and his coworker offers his family’s cabin. You guessed it, they are in the same cabin and a big storm forces them together. Amy and Ryder knew each other ten years earlier when Ryder stayed with her family as a junior hockey player. Amy had a major crush on Ryder, but is humiliated when he rejects her. So in this novella you have second chance, close proximity and a one sided enemies to lovers. A real enjoyable Christmas novella and, hopefully, start to a new series. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an independent review.
Easy to read, fun, sassy, romantic story. Loved the banter between Amy and Ryder.
But it was too short and ended a bit abruptly for me.

Amy's bitterness comes off in waves. Poor Ryder has no idea where the hate is coming from. He goes out of his way to be nice and helpful anyways. I love the way that things worked out.

Oh, Amy. I wanted to scream and cry and throttle someone for her in the beginning. And then when her perfect mopey time alone was ruined, I was even angrier! But then Ryder proved that he’s capable of so much more than breaking a teenage girl’s heart that I had to give him a shot. So these two have the perfect Christmas fling, only to have realty come plowing in to shatter it. Along with some words meant to distance feelings from the situation, of course.

I loved how Amy and Ryder interacted, as well as how they both owned up to mistakes. These two had me wishing the time away to get to Christmas and colder weather and had me wondering what’s in store foe them and the special rink Ryder loves. I can’t wait to find out!

Hate Me Under the Mistletoe
A Heller Brothers Garland Grove Holiday Novel
by Kelly Jamieson

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

They could be so great together?

Let me start by saying any look into the Heller family is sure to be amazing. With that said Ryder is awesome and honorable. Amy Heller is justifiably hurt, angry and untrusting. What happens when she ends up with her first big crush from her teen years and discovers she might have been wrong.

The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: What happens under the mistletoe stays under the mistletoe…

Amy’s life isn’t living up to the famous Heller family brand—her love life and her career and she just wants to be alone for Christmas. So she takes off to a friend’s secluded mountain cabin. Ho fu*king ho.

Ryder’s workaholic tendencies have made him super successful in his business, but he hasn’t spent time with family for years. That’s all he wants this Christmas, plus a little down time at a cabin in the mountains. He loves Christmas and can’t wait for the family ugly sweater contest!

When Ryder walks in on Amy at an “awkward” moment, she can’t believe the man she’s hated since she was sixteen has shown up here. He has to leave. But Mother Nature has other ideas when a blizzard shuts down the entire region...

Amy thinks a good place for Ryder’s Christmas cheer is up his ass. Ryder thinks Amy’s grown up into a smokin’ hot babe. Christmas is all about giving, and he’s got a really big package for Amy. Maybe naughty is the new nice...

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

A fun, enemies-to-lovers Christmas trope. Amy had a crush on Ryder when they were teenagers and felt humiliated after his rejection. Now years later into adulthood, she's recovering from another blow by an ex-boyfriend when she finds herself stranded in a cabin with Ryder. Things start to sizzle between these two and we learn the real reason behind Ryder's rejection.

I always enjoy this author's hockey romances. I also love that she likes to break the barriers with girls in sports. Amy was a good representation of that. Overall a fun Christmas novella.

I have mixed thoughts on this one. The first couple chapters started out strong setting the scene for Amy and Ryder being trapped together. Once they were actually trapped together I had some issues with Amy's animosity toward Ryder. I get she was in a bad place, but the grudge she was holding felt so juvenile. She was rude to Ryder simply because she had a teenage crush she didn't reciprocate. I couldn't stand her actions. I thought she needed to get over herself. Ryder was being completely pleasant to her. The fact that it lasted about half the book was a big turn off for me -- even if the blurb did warn me.

It wasn't until Amy gets over herself and gives into her attraction to Ryder that I started to enjoy the story. That's when it truly started feeling like a cute holiday romance. I loved their snowed in time together and then in Garland Grove. The second half of the book was adorable. I wish I could have fast forwarded through some of the beginning anger to get to the fun sooner.

Overall, this ended up being a cute read. It wasn't my favorite Kelly Jamieson book, but it was a good start to the Romancing the Rink series. I'm curious to see what's next.
