The intended audience will be lucky to get a look once their adults open Wow in the Wild! It's silly, informative, and full of answers to the most important questions in nature- the ones about poop.
Fans of Mindy and Guy from Wow in the World will enjoy their book, Wow in the Wild. The graphic novel elements combined with science and trivia make this a fun read. Mindy and Guy even get to be little comic characters who narrate with humor and heart.
I thought this would be a great book for reluctant readers, as well as fans of the radio show. I highly recommend for any school or library.
The animal kingdom gets the full “WITW” treatment. This has joined the first WOW book in my daughters nightly rotation. Fascinating and informative, great for any curious kid.
WOW! This Book! You can literally feel the energy of our two hosts, Mindy and Guy as they narrate the entire book with their usual podcast banter (so fun to read and imagine their voices!) It’s like the book comes to life! And not only that, it’s FILLED with all kinds of animal science fun facts! The book is broken down into animal/insect, kingdom/phylum sections and each ends with a fun quiz for retention. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to your curious elementary student/kids.
Thanks to #NetGalley for an advanced readers copy for an honest review. I had a lot of fun reading this with my son! We listen to the podcast daily, too!
This is a fantastic series to put in home and class libraries to spark and satiate curiosity for all types of readers. Kids will love flipping through this book and learning amazing facts about animals like how elephants talk in a secret language or some turtles pee through their mouths or how the horned coot uses stones to build a nest. Incredible amounts of info are shown through a medley of forms; quizzes, fun facts, stories, hidden pictures, comic strips, and more. This is a must-have book!
My boys (5 and 7 years old) and I love listening to the Wow in the World podcast so I was so excited to get an advanced copy of the newest book Wow in the Wild! My boys loved the quizzes at the beginning of each chapter and the pictures/comics included throughout kept my 5 year old entertained while learning a lot of interesting facts. The way the book is laid out was perfect for my 7 year old to read without getting too overwhelmed with all the facts. There is so much great information but presented in such a kid-friendly way, that my boys love this and we will definitely be rereading it!
*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy. Opinions are my own.
What a great book for kids! It’s like reading a comic book while learning about animals. Not only is it filled with information, but it’s funny and engaging. It also has a helpful glossary at the end.
There was a lot in here that I didn’t know. For example, did you know that 10 years ago biologists estimated that there are over 8.7 million species of animals on Earth, and we have only identified about 1.2 million species? That one tidbit alone would be a good topic for discussion.
This is my favorite type of book for children: it is fun and engaging all while they’re learning.
Highly engaging book chock full of information on the animal kingdom. From crocodiles and tardigrades to drill monkeys and quokka, animal facts abound. For instance, did you know that one eyeball of a giant squid is bigger than a whole human head?
Fun, educational book that will appeal to all readers.
Magnificent pictures, easy chunks of information on a variety of types of animals. This was a delight to read and one of those titles that goes well beyond the focused age range. Older kids with lower reading levels can still be engaged without feeling too childish for reading it.
Thanks to NetGalley nd Clarion Books for an early read!
This cartoon-style book is chock full of great information on birds, reptiles, mammals, fishes, and insects. The illustrations and bite sized information will make this highly engaging and accessible to kids ages 7-13. Connections to physics, animal behavior, and other subfields of biology make for great discoveries and “ah-ha” moments. Accurate enough to support classroom instruction; varied enough to not easily loose kids’ interest. Reminded me a lot of the style of the ‘Horrible Science’ series.
