Modglin does it again a quick paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. I was super excited to read this book early and as usual it’s a 5 star read. Skylar goes missing and this story will keep you at the edge of your seat wondering who is the kidnapper!
Loved this book, a gripping read and one that has you from page one, it didn’t let up, a fast paced book with a fair few twists and turns, what more could you want!!!! Defo a must read!
When Ginny discovers her daughter Skylar missing the morning after her birthday party, she discovers a web of lies, betrayals and secrets. After reading a few books from this author I became a fan and this book did not disappoint. Although some characters started out suspicious then became unlikeable, I felt bad for Ginny and all that she endured. There were a few twists I didn't see coming. Overall a good read and I look forward to reading her next book.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
Wow this book was brilliant
It will have you hooked
Plenty of twists
The ending I didn’t see coming
Thanks NetGalley
I enjoy the fast paced and easy writing style of the author. However, that’s about it for this story.
All of the characters were incredibly unlikeable. Ginny was the worst, completely selfish and self centred. Cam was a liar and had a very “holier than thou” complex. Together they were a bad couple.
The jumble of the story as well, starting with the kidnapping, followed by the past, then back to the present just didn’t flow well. The kidnapper twist was so obvious, however, some other twists were not. And the ending, when you find out who kidnapped, was very anticlimactic. Someone took the child basically because they could, with zero real plan.
Postpartum depression is a real thing and I get that but it was a real turn-off for me how self-absorbed Ginny was. I think this might be the main reason this story dragged for me. I just could not get invested in Ginny and her problems. When the story did pick up, the twist was a little predictable but the ending was well paced and kept me on my toes. I was intrigued by the ending; I just felt I had to wait a little too long for the action to start.
Unreliable and fascinating!!!! This book is page turning goodness. Highly addictive and unputdownable. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Unfortunately, I had this one figured out pretty much from the beginning, but I still greatly enjoyed it! The writing was excellent and kept me enjoying, even when I knew who the bad guy was! While not so twisty to me, I still found it to be thrilling and chilling! Would definitely recommend to my fellow thrill seekers, as even if like me and easily guess whodunnit, I still think they’ll enjoy this one very much!
This book was good but the kidnapper was pretty easy to guess right from the start. I really enjoyed the Mother in law by Modglin but this new book wasn’t as good, just middle of the road. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.
This psychological suspense will not give you any rest. From beginning to end, the author weaves a web of secrets that we end up discovering bit by bit, which adds to the mystery and keeps us on our toes, trying to guess what is really going on. I say try because Kiersten Modglin once again manages to surprise us at every turn. The ending gave me chills and I would definitely see a sequel. I'm crossing my fingers, that would be awesome.
In addition, she tackles an important subject, mental illness, and its impact on the sufferer and the ripple effect it has on those around them.
A fantastic book by the most amazing thriller author. I would recommend people check the trigger warnings before reading this book. I rate it a five out of five stars.
Kiersten Modglin does it again! The reader will need to ask himself some hard questions while reading this boom, and one of them is there such as thing as going too far where your family is concerned. Loved it!
I finished this book in 2 sittings, it was fantastic and the ending was not expected! This is a must read book!!
I guess I will be in the minority here, but I do not like this at all. I am only 50 % done and I am struggling to finish. I find Ginny whiny and Cameron a jerk and don't get me started on Alex..
Not my style at all
I am a big Kiersten Modglin fan! Her constant plot twists usually keep me guessing until the end. However, this particular story was very predictable. From the very beginning, I knew who did it and why. Am I getting better at paying attention to the details, or were they planted a little too obviously here? Either way, I will continue to pick up her work and see where it leads.
This is my second book by this author and she must be exhausted because I am! I've never read so many twists and turns and each more shocking than the last! What a ride and an ending you need to read to believe!
Define toy not your predictable missing child drama! The author did a great job of telling a story that is full of tension, suspense and mystery! And the twists! Modglin certainly lives up to her reputation as being “The Queen of the Twists”.
Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of Missing Daughter, which I have returned with an honest review. 3.5 rounded up!
Kiersten Modglin does it again!! Anything she writes, I will be reading it always!
Ginny loves her daughter Skylar, but suffering from severe post pardon depression makes it very hard for her to function, and be the mother she wants to be. Having a very difficult pregnancy and child birth, Ginny blames herself for anything and everything. She finally sees a ray of hope when she meets Alex. Alex makes Ginny feel alive again and gives her a friendship and comfort she hasn't had in a long time, even with her husband Cameron. Cameron, although happy his wife is feeling better and getting help, feels weary towards Alex.
Everything get flipped upside down when Skylar goes missing the night of her third birthday. Ginny of course blames herself, Cameron blames her... and even Alex is not acting the same nurturing friend she usually is. But Ginny will stop at nothing to get her little girl back and be the mother she knows she can be.
This book showed a very real experience a lot of mothers face with their children. No matter what, every woman experiences motherhood differently. That doesn't make any way the right way, as long as your child gets the love and care it needs. Definitely shows how post pardon depression not only affects the mother and child, but the spouse and others around. I love how Kiersten Modglin always writes about real feelings and experiences in a unique and twisty way.
Review of Missing Daughter by Kiersten Modglin
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am officially on the Modglin train! This is now my third and I won’t be slowing down. As mentioned last time I reviewed one of hers, several friends have gifted several more of hers to me so I can just keep going!
Quick synopsis: Ginny and Cameron are the parents of a beautiful little girl named Skylar. Ginny has been going through a very difficult time since her birth following an extremely traumatic labor and postpartum depression. She is finally getting some help from a therapist who is also her friend, Alex. She met Alex in the park and they immediately hit it off. The novel begins the day of Skylar’s birthday party. They have a great day and put Skylar to bed. When they awake, she is gone.
So many twists and secrets in this one! Highly recommend.
Big thanks to @netgalley and @bookouture for a copy of this one!
