Gaby is back in another mystery set in Wales. Her and her police team investigate the death of a fellow cop and then the 4 year old stepson. Obviously the mother is looked at, and she has plenty of secrets that are slowly revealed. Good story overall, and enjoyed the journey. Highly recommend this book and series.

Jenny O'Brien gets better and better! I've loved this series from the first twisty Silent Cry, and I'm delighted to see it continuing. A great crime story with the usual cast of brilliantly drawn characters - I love the touch of will they/won't they romance between Gaby Darin and Rusty Mulholland too. We really get to know the other characters in Gaby''s team too which adds great depth to the story. One to read - and then wait for the next!

Good book! This book was a little crazy! Definitely some crazy characters! Thus book had suspense, intrigue, action, heartache and heartbreak! And a great who done it! Or a crazy who done it lol I would definitely recommend this book! It was a very interesting story! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I sort of enjoyed this book, but I have to say that I wasn’t exactly thrilled or gripping the edge of my seat. It was well written, but there was just something about it that didn’t grab me. What put me off to begin with was the way Hannah’s reaction was portrayed at the beginning. But maybe that’s just me. This woman comes home after a night away to find her fiancé dead and her 4-year-old son missing. Just a few hours later she’s being interviewed in the police station and it’s just like she’s having a conversation. She sniffs and grabs a tissue but not much more. After describing what happened the previous day and overnight she’s collected by her fiancé’s brother, Dominic, who she’s never met before, and they have a ‘conversation’ too. Fifteen minutes after this she’s back at the station to be told that her son has been found dead. Fifteen minutes later she’s being led back to the car by Dominic. ‘Come on. Let’s get a coffee somewhere,’ he says. ‘It took half an hour and two coffees for her to gain some control of her emotions, but the coffee couldn’t lift her mood …’ Sorry, but come on! Lift her mood? She would have been utterly destroyed already! You find your fiancé dead, and are then told your 4-year-old son is dead … and you ‘go for a coffee’ with someone you’ve never met before? Where’s the stomach churning, gut wrenching, and completely overwhelming grief?! I did want to know how it ended so I continued reading but I couldn’t take anything else seriously after this. I thought the plot was too far-fetched and was disappointed in the ending. Sorry, it was an OK read but that’s all (in my opinion).
