Ahhhh this was just such a great book. I just was entranced by this story and these characters. I look forward to seeing what happens next.
This book was such a fun read. The story, the characters, the setting, everything about it was great. I loved the chemistry between Trace and Izzy and I look forward to reading the next book set in Captivity.
"Like slipping inside you while the sun slips below the horizon, and watching you light up in my arms as the first stars light up the sky."
Between KA Tucker and Samanthe Beck I am convinced I have to visit Alaska. No but seriously this is a fun fake engagement small town read. I think that it was filled with the right about of spice and drama and it was fun seeing Isabelle loosen up and fall in love.
Forbidden romance, a sexy bearded bush pilot, an LA lawyer who's clumsy and quirky, wild shenaningans, small-town Alaska, HOT chemistry and loads of fun.
Trace Shanahan wants to sell the family business and when LA lawyer Izzy Marcano arrives to help there's one snafu, no one can know the real reason she's there. So ensues a fake-relationship cover-up until real feelings take flight and they have to sort out one tiny problem, a conflict of interest.
A great story of family, overcoming loss, expectations, and secondary characters that leave you in stitches.
Lucky for you reader there are three books in this series. Buckle up for a wild ride on this Alaskan adventure.
I had to double check that a woman wrote this book. There was so much talk about Bear Daddies that I couldn't stop thinking that woman don't talk this way, or at least not as much as it was mentioned in the book. The story just didn't feel realistic enough for my tastes.
There was SO much about this series that had the potential to be amazing. However, I couldn't get into the story and found myself bored over and over. I'm clearly in the minority after looking at other reviews. I feel this book/series is just not for me. Out of respect for the author, I will not be reviewing this book on Goodreads.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
A lawyer has to take an unexciting trip to the wilderness in Alaska. She decides to have some fun with the locals (and who wouldn't with such a great guy/girl ratio). Turns out her new fling is her new client which makes everything complicated. A great romp in the wilderness, in a world that is wild and free.
This was my first Samanthe Beck book and it won't be my last! I loved the writing style as well as the story. Isabelle and Trace were a lot of fun and easy to root for.
I absolutely loved this story! From the town, to the chemistry between Izzy and Trace, to the backstories both bring to the table, it was pure magic. The steam was right on, the angst level was perfect, I loved the touch of paranormal the book brought to the table (no spoilers here!) and I cannot wait to see where this series goes next!
We have an opposites attract, fake relationship story. We have Trace-the grump and Isabelle-friendly one, Trace wants to sell but doesn't want anyone to know that, it is a small town and you know everyone is always in everyone's business and he knows that if they see Isabelle, they know something is up so he concocts a fake relationship. That is just going to screw up Isabelle's plans on having a friend with bennies while she is there and even though Trace is willing to be that for her, he is a client and she can't go there, or can she.. It was cute, fun, could have done without the ridiculous machine.
I liked the Alaska setting and the characters in this latest book by Samanthe Beck (one of my favourite Entangled Brazen authors). It's a fake engagement romance, with lawyer Isabelle coming to Captivity, Alaska to see the completion of a sale and her client, Trace, having kept the sale secret, needing an excuse for why a fancy big city girl is in town. Pretending to be engaged gives Isabelle the chance to get to know the town and the townspeople, and to realize that maybe Trace should reconsider his plan to sell the family airline, considering some of the circumstances behind it (even if this would mean a dent in her career plans). Do something for her career or for her love? That's the conundrum for Isabelle to deal with. I enjoyed how everything played out and there's a nice set up for the next in the series!
Samantha Beck never disappoints with her witty, adventurous, sexy romances. I enjoyed this story and the fun setting of the Wilds of Alaska. If you are looking for a quick romance check this one out!
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
Trace was kind of quick to make a judgement of Isabelle when he first saw her but things changed as they spent time together. At first, it was a typical fake fiance story but as the story progressed, it got a bit more interesting and involved as secrets were revealed.
The ghostly brother was kind of different and not sure if it added to the story or not.
Things really picked up for me when Izzy found out two very important facts during a girls night. These secrets were a game changer and Izzy did the only thing she could ethically do in this situation - she withdrew from the sale.
Can't wait for the next book as the arrival of the buyer causes quite a disturbance!!
Samanthe Beck is one of my favorites and this is a great first book in what I am sure will be a fun series! There was fantastic chemistry between Trace and Izzy from the outset, but I completely understood Izzy's concerns about getting involved with a client. They developed a genuine friendship pretty quickly, which made their relationship start to seem very real even before it turned physical. There was a bit of a paranormal/supernatural element to this story that I wasn't expecting, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I also enjoyed the plot twists and can't wait for the next book in the series!
This book was read thanks to NetGalley.
I LOVED THIS BOOK, it has fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, and small town together but it didn't feel as if they were holding too much tropes, they just are together because the circumstances of the characters made it that way.
I loved the characters and the chemistry an everything about it.
Hoping for a promotion to junior partner, Los Angeles-based attorney Isabelle "Izzy" Marcano accepts an assignment in Captivity, Alaska managing the potential sale of bush pilot Trace Shanahan's stake in his family company, Captivity Air and Freight. Trace doesn't want anyone in town to know about the prospective sale, so he'd asked the law firm's senior partner, an old family friend, to send someone who would blend in as an extreme adventure tourist. As soon as Trace sees polished, sophisticated Izzy in her tailored business suit and heels, however, he realizes that she's going to do nothing but stand out. Scrambling for another way to explain her presence in Captivity, he's inspired to fake a relationship. News of Trace's new "girlfriend" quickly spreads across town, which has the unintended side effect of interfering with Izzy's plans for her down time while in Captivity: a no-strings attached vacation fling. Trace is single and more than willing to scratch her itch; unfortunately, getting involved with a client is against the attorney-client code of ethics, and Izzy won't risk her career no matter how strong the attraction between them may be.
There was fantastic chemistry between Trace and Izzy from the outset, but I completely understood Izzy's concerns about getting involved with a client. They developed a genuine friendship pretty quickly, which made their relationship start to seem very real even before it turned physical. As they were forced to spend time working closely together on the potential sale, their attraction continued to grow until neither could resist any longer. I loved their flirty, witty banter as they got to know each other, as well as the steamy "bedtime stories" they told whenever Trace had to spend a night away from Captivity for an early flight.
There was a bit of a paranormal/supernatural element to this story that I wasn't expecting, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I also enjoyed the plot twists related to Trace's sister Bridget and one of the other secondary characters. Finally, even though I sometimes felt bad about it, I couldn't help laughing at all of the times Izzy got herself into embarrassing situations. My favorite was when she was chased by the Canadian geese, in large part because of the commentary from Trace and the other onlookers who saw her running through the mud to get away from them.
Overall, I really enjoyed "Wild in Captivity" and recommend it for all fans of contemporary/small town romance and romantic comedy. I look forward to the next book in the series (which will hopefully be about Trace's sister, Bridget).

From page one I was entertained by the leading lady Izzy. She is smart, sassy sexy and fun! I loved the inner monologue.
Lizzie is looking for her daddy bear in Alaska, however, her first priority is helping her client. Her client also is a sexy man who lives in Alaska. And being a lawyer is tough, ethical standards say she cannot or…shouldn’t sleep with her client, Trace. But he is a little too delectable to resist….
I would rate this 4 out of 5. it was the perfect amount of smut and sexy together! I would put 5 out of 5 for hot chili peppers! Netgalley provided this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was lighthearted, great chemistry between the two main characters, and a great supporting amount of characters. I look forward to reading more in the series. Thank you to net galley for the ARC. All opinions on my own.
As you all know I am a HUGE samanthe beck fan. Anything by this author, I always love and this was one of her other stories that I absolutely LOVED. I love how the characters she writes about feel so relatable and how their stories are so unique. The characters feel very real because they have their own flaws and are dealing with their own struggles. The way Trace and Izzy came together made me smile and I could not put this book down. The chemistry between Trace and Izzy was everything! I am super excited to read more stories in this collection in the future because this one was hands down one of the best I have ever read by this author :)
