In order to make partner at her law firm, Izzy must travel to the small town of Captivity Alaska to handle the sale of a small airline operation. What she didn’t expect was Trace and all his manly gloriousness. To disguise the reason Izzy is in town, Trace tells everyone they are dating in hopes to throw them off the scent of him potentially selling the company. Things get complicated when Izzy and Trace struggle to maintain a professional relationship amongst their ever growing chemistry and desire.
Wild in Captivity is a fake dating story loaded with steamy sexual tension and tender moments. Izzy is an independent and confident woman who knows what she wants and has a huge heart. Trace didn’t know what he was getting into when Izzy arrived but he knew right away there was something special about her and he couldn’t deny it. Izzy and Trace are perfect together. They both realized they meant so much more to each other and were each other’s home. The secondary cast of characters are great especially Trace’s sister Bridget and I can’t wait to see what she gets up to in the next book in the series!
Thank you @greyspromo, @entangled_publishing, @samanthebeck and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Deliciously hot!

Samantha Beck is well known for her steamy romance and she holds back nothing when writing her stories. You’re guaranteed some sugar, some spice, and lots of nice. This book is no different! It’s loaded with all of the above, plus a delicious leading man who just sounds like someone I need in my life. LOL
Beck knows how to create characters that work perfectly off of each other. City girl meets small-town hottie and sparks start flying. The hidden secrets, fake fiancé, a bit of conflict of interest, and a delicate path to doing the right thing. Even the towns people are highly involved in the story and they definitely know everyone’s business.
Beck has created a captivating story that is loaded with the heat and spice we love but it’s seemingly difficult path to the happy ever after we crave. When sticky secrets start unfolding, we’re all in for a surprise or two.
Plenty of funny situations and characters balance together with the tough business choices in Wild in Captivity. But this forbidden romance and fake fiancée captures us with all of the heat, plus those warm and fuzzy feels needed in Captivity, Alaska.
OMG, this book is hot and steamy. And was exactly what I was looking for. Hot and heavy romance with great characters. It's a fake fiancee/dating trope which leads to some funny moments.
Izzy and Trace are a great couple and I really like how they balance each. This book also sets up the next story and I'm really looking forward to what happens there.
This is the second book I've read by @samanthebeck and I think she's becoming my new favorite romance author.
Definitely add it to your TBR.
WILD IN CAPTIVITY is a steamy, illicit romantic read in the wildest of places. This book had some great chemistry.
Isabelle is a lawyer and is working toward her goal to be partner in her law firm. She has been given a case working on the sale of a small airport in Alaska . Closing the sale and a happy client could be just the piece Isabelle needs to achieve her dream. She heads to Alaska with thoughts of success but also the possibilities of a wilderness town. The possibility of - the bear-daddy men that she can end her dry spell with. One such man is her client, who would fit the bill perfectly - if only it wasn’t for pesky ethics.
Arrive together in Captivity, Alaska, Trace, her client, introduces her as his soon-to-be-fiancé. Trace does not want anyone to know he is thinking of selling the airport business that has been in his family for a couple generations. Given that Isabelle does not look like a tourist or fit into the small town, he decided to pass her off as his fiancé. But of course, is attracted to Isabelle, also the town has decided to rally around them as a couple to convince her to move to Captivity.
The sexual tension between them is palatable. The build-up of chemistry is delicious. This book is the perfect balance of sexy and humor. I also loved the characters and the evolution of their connection and relationship. There was a lot of world building of Captivity which made the book have some stodgy moments but over all I did enjoy it. Super steamy small-town romance is kind of my jam so this is a must read.
This is my first Samantha Beck book. What a treat!!! This book had everything I love--nosy small town folks, an alaskan setting, the pretend engagement trope and great steam. The hero and heroine had off the charts chemistry. It was well written with lots of small town heart. I can't wait to read more by this author. Huge thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is a great Autumn / Winter read. I loved the small town Alaskan setting complete with fun, secondary characters who just can’t resist sticking their noses into the main characters’ business. It’s a slow burn romance with plenty of heart and humour. Captivity, Alaska is definitely somewhere I’ll be looking to revisit in future books by this author!
What can I say. I liked this book. Must read. Do it. If you do anything else. Read this book today. Great read and enjoyable.
A sizzling, adventurous rom com set it the Alaskan wilderness that you won’t be able to put down.
Wild in Captivity follows Trace and Izzy who are two complete opposites. She’s the city lawyer with name brand clothing, while he’s the owner of an airfield in the small town of Captivity, Alaska. Izzy chose to take on this deal for her firm with hopes of finding a bear daddy. What she doesn’t expect is for her client to check off everything she’s looking for in a wild fling and she certainly doesn’t expect for her bag of garments with a surprise from her best friend to spill all over the runway either. Trace sets his eyes on Izzy and realizes she won’t be able to pass for a tourist in her heels. So, to cover up his secret, he decides to blurt out after her clothes have spilled that she’s his fiancée. What will happen when these two go into a fake engagement in a town full of nosy gossips? Well, lots of laughs, geese, secrets, ghosts, and love.
I definitely recommend checking out Wild in Captivity and with that ending it seems like there will be more to come hopefully!
Two words: swoon worthy. It’s not often that I give 5 stars, but this book is worth every star. Trace is firmly sitting on my list of top favorite heroes.
The story plays out like a Hallmark movie, perfect and sweet but predictable. We have the beautiful city girl and the rugged, sexy Alaskan. It’s lust at first sight but the build up is slow and almost torturous yet addictive. Perfectly done.
My gratitude to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the pleasure of reading and reviewing Wild in Captivity by Samanthe Beck.
This is a book about trust, love, and learning to let go. Set in the Alaskan wilderness, there's a lot of analogies made for stepping out into the unknown, both in the environment and with one's heart. It's a slow burn romance with a lot of humor thrown in. A good read!
A steamy, fun romance! I adored the Alaskan setting, the characters are interesting, and the story was great. I look forward to reading about the other residents in the future!
A quick read...steamy, steamy, steamy! A nice love story without a lot of drama ad angst. A good story to just get lost in, laugh a little and feel a little heat. I'm looking forward to reading more about Captivity's residents!
The physical aspects of this lean more toward erotica than romance, but it also comes with a solid story, interesting characters, and moments of real humor. There was a nice sense of place--I enjoyed experiencing life in rural Alaska. I bought the chemistry between the MCs more than the love story. I didn't connect with their affection for each other much beyond their physical enjoyment of each other, and the obstacles between them fell apart without much fanfare, but I didn't begrudge them their happiness either.
This was a quick pleasant read with laughs and some real heart. It seems like there's more to come too--the future stories teased sound intriguing!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
