Enjoyable. Funny. It was a more palatable exposition for those of us not drenched in science degrees.

Due to a family passing at the time, I was unable to download this in time before it was archived, and having only returned after several years away due to it severely affecting me, I am now working my way through those reviews I was unable to get to to detail the issue. Thank you for the opportunity, and I look forward to working with you in the future.

I received the audio version of Space Is Cool as F*ck. As it didn't include the photos/illustrations that the book does, I feel like I missed out on some important pieces when experiencing this book in the audio format. The narrator had an expressive voice and seemed excited about the topic, keeping the listener engaged. The book does a wonderful job of explaining space science bits of info in a very basic way to those who are less scientifically-inclined. The swearing was jarring (even thought I got a hint from the title and usually don't mind a bit of profanity) as it seemed WAAAAAY over-the-top and wholly unnecessary--even a distraction from the flow of information. This is unfortunate as I think older kids or young teens might benefit from such a book as it might spark their interest, but most parents would be unlikely to purchase this for them due to the excessive swearing.

I couild not listen to the entirety of this. It was not enjoyable in the audio format. Perhaps the book itself with the images would be better.

Thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook though the lack of the mentioned pictures was notable. I now have enough fun facts about space to last me a lifetime, though the swearing was a bit too much (or it seemed emphasized for the mere fact of this being an audiobook).

Thank you Netgalley, Kate Howells and Andrews McMeel Audio for this advance listener copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book. It was "cool as f*ck". This was an extremely informative, really quick listen. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the interview with Bill Nye. That was probably my favorite part. I do think, however, that it would be better read as a hardcover, print edition as I know this book includes pictures. Pictures would have made this book even better. Although the audio was great.

The language in this book won't be for everyone, but I loved it. I have the mouth of a sailor myself, so this was right up my alley. And hearing Bill Nye, the science guy, actually drop an F-bomb was PRICELESS!

I've already ordered my hardcover copy from Amazon. Space really is cool as f*ck.

This book was really fun to listen to, although I think that sometimes it tries to be too cool with the cursing. I still think that it is funny and enjoyable, it covers a lot of topics, so I did learn something new. It is easy to understand and it has short chapters so it is easy to follow through. The most enjoyable part for me was an interview with Bill Nye, they talked about a lot of things, even some conspiracy theories about our existance.

A simplified brief book about everything you want to know about space, not by scientists or astronomers but by space enthuthiasts, which is cool.

I just didn't see the appeal in all the fucks and I didn't find it funny 😒 but who am I to say!!

Aside from that I loved the book.

I could not get far into this book. It feels like there was a lot of gratuitous swearing. The narrator didn't make it any better. She sounded like a teenager trying out cursing and relishing every swear word.

3.5
This was a good intro type book for people interested in learning about space with most concepts simplified. There was a Bill Nye interview in the audiobook which was fun to listen to and felt like a podcast.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

I am fascinated by everything space so this was a cool book for me. With amazing facts about space (I didn't know there were lifeforms around Venus!), this book was a treat.

Of course, you cannot read it with your teenager. But you can always read it yourself and explain it all to them without expletives :)

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This was my first foray into audio books, and only moments after I got a copy to review from NetGalley I realised that swear words might be harder to skip in audio format than when I’m reading a book. But my love for space prevailed, and I’m glad it did. This book is a lovely overview of some of the biggest questions about space, that manages to present some of the most complex questions asked by physicists in a way approachable for this rusty nerd. There was also a wonderful, long interview with Bill Nye, who is always a pleasure to listen to. As for the swearing, there was some interspaced throughout the entire book, but it was easy to ignore. It just meant that I couldn’t listen to this book while my little one was around, which had been my initial intention when requesting a space-related audio book from NetGalley. What can I say… I’m one tired mama.

DNF audio book.

I listened to about 15% and then stopped. I realized that there are more than 100 pictures in the book which don't translate into audio. I liked learning more about space and want to read the book.

Me and my 13 year old niece listened to this book on a road trip and we both just loved it. We found it fun (who doesn't love a book full of cursing?), entertaining (again, cursey words are great!), engaging, and interesting. It was space in laymen terms. If you are not a fan of the word fuck, you will not enjoy this book. It is used liberally. But if you can get past the colorful adjectives, then definitely check this book out.

While I was not a fan of the narrator, I did enjoy the contents of this book!

I know very little about space and everything related to it. All the swearing threw me off a bit but it was very interesting nonetheless.

I'll begin with the fact that I am NOT a science person. I think sciences is interesting and cool and amazing, but the research and procedures and actually doing science is not my thing. I enjoyed this audiobook. The reader was animated and engaging. This water downed explanation of space things was well done. But. I found my mind wandering while listening to it. I didn't retain much of the detail of the book, and if someone were to ask me anything about it, i wouldn't be able to tell them much. So, that doesn't a bad book make, it just wasn't quite my speed.

I'm admittedly not very knowledgeable about space, so this was a really cool way to learn more about it. I loved how much swearing was in because I have a potty mouth myself, so it really added to the chill vibe of this book. It almost poked fun at how ridiculous we can be when we think about the universe and aliens. I loved that they included an interview with Bill Nye as well. That was a really nice touch and I felt it added a lot of value. This is a great way to learn about space in a less serious, unstructured way. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Space is Cool as Fuck” is exactly as promised. It explains the chaos of our universe in a practical and funny way which showcases how extraordinary both the things we know and the things we don’t yet know truly are. It breaks down the complicated scientific language into a casual discussion with top subject matter experts. Paired with beautiful artwork, this book really shines.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. I’ve always had an interest in Space, and I still learned a lot. For those who are just now discovering the mysteries of the cosmos or for those previously disinterested in the topic, this book will still grab you with its humor and stunning art.

An excellent book that makes space very approachable, with some Bill Nye thrown in for spice (in the audio version at least). The chapters are concise, educational, and fun. The narrator presents everything with such excitement and wonder that you can't help but feel the same way. This book is not for children if you want to keep them from hearing cuss words. But it is written to be just as enjoyable for space nerds and space newbies. There's not much more to say except that Space is Cool as Fuck and you should read (or listen to) this book.
