I like it. I mean there was a little twist that made me raise my eyebrow but ok.
I’m glad I listened to the audiobook instead of reading it. Might’ve given up otherwise.

Amy with her father, takes a small break from their lives. She just lost her mother and is drifting, lost without her. Her dad too. So they come to Seabrook, a small seaside town where her dad has to wrap up some things for work. There is something a little strange about the town though. The lighthouse, dormant and haunted, light up and keeps getting brighter.

She meets Ryan, a local who has his own troubles. Which is more than what Amy thought it would be and it’s left to her to help him.

It’s a slow paced book, about grief and love. And some magic. Or maybe not Magic as there are things we can’t explain really so why not something like what happened to Ryan and Amy?

You can feel the emotions pouring out of the Ryan and Amy as they go through their trails. And you’ll root for them. The magic bit may be hard to swallow for some but it was ok with me. Cake into this book a bit blind - forgot the blurb, so it didn’t seem far fetched or a surprise even. Ha. A little benefit to forgetting what book you are at.

Thank you Beacon Press Limited and NetGalley for this advance listeners copy.

What a solid, enjoyable read. (I listened to the book despite my issues with the narrator - who sounded like a radio announcer rather than a storyteller). The ding on the star was for the audio version not the book.

I hate to say too much about this book because of the surprises within but there is a magical and lyrical tone to it which the reader can empathize with the subjects of death, grief, love, and faith.

I adored it. I saw one review that noted this for the YA genre. Leave it right where it is - but maybe market in both places? I say that because if it was YA I would have missed this experience.

Sincere thanks to #Netgalley, the publisher and #ChristopherParker for the opportunity to read this book for a fair, honest review

In this mysterious yet enchanting journey, Amy visits Seabrook where the towns lighthouse, that’s been dormant for 30 years, has started shining without reason. She’s only there for a night, but things change when she meets Ryan, the hard-working son of a ranch owner in the outskirts of town.

When they meet, their lives are seemingly changed as they grow closer over the course of a weekend. Mysterious, inexplicable things keep happening. And that makes life seem stranger than once thought.

For a paranormal romance, this was very good and as a person who has not read many and the few I have read, they’ve been terrible, I really enjoyed myself.

This book was enchanting, mysterious, with a side of the romance. But also sad, compassionate.

This book deserves to be experienced firsthand and not in some elaborate review.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks so much to the publisher and Net Galley for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a sweet story about the devastation of loss and grief and the power of love to heal. There is a mild G rated romance, but the overarching theme is friendship. Love between the parents and their children plays a bigger role.
I wont give any spoilers, but there is a great twist to the story, that I didn’t see coming.
Trigger warning, the story deals with some pretty dark themes, death of a parent, child and attempted suicide. However, there is always hope, love and loyalty shining through just like the lighthouse in the title, guiding the characters home.

This was an immersive read. I felt like I was in a quaint little town. However, it felt more YA than an Adult fiction. It was a good read but not what I expected.

3.5⭐️
A debut novel. It’s described as being a work of character driven realism examining love, grief and life. The cover works really well.

The narrator has lovely soothing deep tones, which overall I enjoyed but I don’t think works for the female characters especially the 18 yr girls and the younger girl , so would benefit from a secondary narrator.
I think the writing style and language suits the YA audience.
The two main characters are Amy an 18 yr old who is trying to deal with her mothers recent death, and Ryan who is the son of a ranch owner who is taking on extra responsibility as his father recovers from a stroke and is having to pick up the slack.
The lighthouse is central to the story. It has remained dormant and unloved for the last 30 yrs, it has its own history and folklore. Its light suddenly and inexplicably starts shining setting off the gossip rumour mill of the locals.

The characters are likeable with a naivety. It’s a sweet easy listen which is emotional in places.
I feel it’s a bit slow, and a little long.
I feel it works really well as YA but doesn’t have the depth and complexity for the adult audience.
My rating is as a YA novel

A book like the Lighthouse hits me differently on an emotional level. I just finished listening to the audiobook and my emotions are all mixed up between feeling happy and sad. If only things had turned out differently for Ryan--sweet, kind and lovable Ryan! The narration done by Braden Wright is superb and compliments the beautiful writing of the author Christopher Parker.
The cover picture is absolutely gorgeous as well!

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Beacon Press Limited and the author for the audio ARC of the book.

#TheLighthouse by @christopherparkerwrites is my most recent read via @Netgalley audio. This story started with a young woman Amy grieving the untimely death of her mother and feeling so disconnected to her father. In an attempt to bridge the unease between them, Amy's father decides to handle a case out in the countryside a few hours outside of Portland Oregon. In this sleepy town, Amy meets a young man who is just a complete sweetheart. But things start to get really, really strange and then something is revealed that is so unexpected and so lovely that I just sobbed. This was a bit of romance, but it was so much more. It was really miraculous, as Ryan and Amy begin to help each other heal from their losses; they appear in each other's lives in a moment of crisis, and literally save each other's lives ... and souls. It was the most romantic, hopeful, fantastical, heartwrenching scenario. I wish I could fully discuss it but I dont want to ruin the beauty of the discovery. This is a five star read, one that Ill definitely want to buy for my shelf and for others as gifts. One of my absolute favorites of the year. I cant wait for more people to read this because it is truly a wonderful and emotionally satisfying story. Possibly a new life long favorite!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can't praise this book highly enough - it is spectacularly superb and it is one of the best books I have read this year! The writing is amazing and the narration of the audiobook is outstanding. The story is magical, heart-warming, romantic, emotional and uplifting. It is out of this world.

The characters of the book really touched me, and I loved their story. The fact that the book had so many twists and turns, and ended up being magically mysterious and supernatural was just amazing to me. It surprised me a lot and left me with my mouth hanging open in awe. I loved it so much and I highly, highly recommend it! Amy, Kevin and Ryan were superstars to me, and I would really love to see this book made into a movie, as it would make a magnificent movie.

The author of this book has a lot of talent, and so does the narrator. Both have done a wonderful job. I can't wait to read more of this author's work when it comes out. This book should be a number one bestseller! You can tell that the author has put his whole heart and soul into the book, as it is a masterpiece of delight! It touched me on many levels.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an audiobook from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book went in a direction I wasn’t expecting, but really enjoyed. It captures grief and the moments that allow you to move through grief beautifully.

The narrator has a very deep melodic voice. Listening to him imitate a teenage girl was a bit comical at first, but I got over it quickly. I did listen to the book at a faster speed though because the narrators voice was a bit too deep and melodic for me.

This story has a soft, magically mysterious vibe about it. It holds very true to the opening line of the book description...

"Enchanting, mysterious, and deeply romantic, The Lighthouse follows a young woman's breathtaking journey far from home to discover where she truly belongs."

It’s exactly that. Although the first half of the story is slow paced, I think that's what was needed to get acquainted with the characters and for the connection between Amy & Ryan to grow. It also only spans over 1-2 days for about 90% of the story. For that first half, it felt much like I was reading a modern romance novel (even though there were some subtle clues) and I was starting to question whether I was into the story. But then it crept up on me and I couldn’t put it down.

The emotional toll it takes to let go of grief was written into this story brilliantly. I felt like the characters and their reactions were very real and heartfelt. I always try not to give any spoilers when I do reviews, and I won’t do that here, BUT my heart.... I'm going to have a story hangover with this one. It made me cry and smile; then left me in my feels. I'm still there.

Thanks to NetGalley & Beacon Press Limited for an audiobook copy to review in return for my honest opinion of the book.

This is my first time listening to a novel on audio, (I usually only listen to autobiographies).

I really wanted to like this one as the synopsis grabbed me and the reviews were mostly raving. Unfortunately the narration fell flat for me. I found it hart to stay interested in the story and it seemed to drag on. I often had the speed turned up so that I would pay attention.

The storyline itself was well written and the midway twist is where I really started to get invested. I think it’s a cute story that I definitely would have enjoyed more if I read it rather than listen to it on audio.

Thank you NetGallery for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

Wow! What an amazing audiobook! The author did an excellent job of drawing you into the characters grief, fear, loss, love and hope. I'm an avid audiobook listener so I don't always pay attention to the description of the book if the cover grabs me so I went into this book blind as to what it was about. If you like a good drama with mystical themes woven in, then this book is for you. After all, none of us really knows what happens after death so let this book offer you a new perspective to life, the in between and the after.

A lovely magical story that was fantastic on audio.

🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Amy recently lost her mother and she is reeling from the grief. Her father, a member of the state police, decides to take Amy with him on an assignment about a missing person to the quaint town if Seabrook.

Seabrook comes alive in this book, although set in the modern day, it captured the simplicity of life years ago. One of the main attractions in Seabrook is a lighthouse that has been broken for years, explained away through tales of hauntings of local spirits. During the first night of their stay, the lighthouse magically lights up after years of dormancy. It's a miracle!

The town is alive with curiosity, bringing everyone out to see it. Amy meets Ryan, a local owner of a horse farm, and an immediate connection forms.

What follows are tales of love and heartbreak. Despite the heartbreak and sadness, this story is so heartwarming, full of magic and supernatural elements.

As you all know, fantasy is not my genre, but this story, with a touch of magic, was absolutely PERFECT for me.

I can't conclude without mentioning the superb narration by Wright Braden

I quite enjoyed this book. It was a light read and there is one twist that completely changes this book.

The main character Amy is depressed after her mother dies in car accident. She is though stronger than she thinks and has more will power to live than she realizes. She needs someone to show her the way out, to tell her she is not alone and there are still things which are worth to live for. Even though this book is for YA it has a strong message for all people in this depressive time. Well done author!

This is was a read I needed in this time to feel more relaxed and motivated.

I did really enjoy this book overall. The audio narration was well done. The story really kept it moving and kept me motivated to listen. I fin the character relatable and was very surprised by the big twist of the story. I loved the positive and hopeful note it ended on. I did, however fell like it dragged on a bit after the big twist and that the ending was unnecessarily drawn out. I was also a little lost on the age of some the characters for a while and I didn't like where the story was going when I wasn't sure about the ages of the characters. It did remind me of Shawn Smucker's work, with the mix of the real world and the supernatural. Overall, a solid read.

Another big surprise, I had no idea what I was reading, and it took me a bit to get into the story, but it pulled me in little by little and by the end I was completely enraptured.
Overall it was a fantastic and magical experience.

The audio version of The Lighthouse I found to be perfectly narrated, Braden Wright does a brilliant job of pacing the story keeping the listening captivated.

I have no hesitation in recommending Christopher Parker's novel, a good story of love and loss.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the Publisher for kindly gifting me this audio version to listen to and review.
