Beau came back to the ranch years ago to help raise his sister and take care of running it. Now his one-time girlfriend has come to the ranch to film a motion picture using the ranch as the back drop and to also have him teach her to ride for the movie. A good story with some predictable moments overall not bad.

Christmas with her cowboy ex. What could possibly go wrong?

After his mother’s death, Beau Taylor returned from college to care for his baby sister. He left behind his dream of becoming a cinematographer—and his heart.

The cowboy never thought he’d see Amelia Crawford again. She followed her dreams and became a big movie star. But when she shows up in town to shoot a western ten years later, their worlds collide after Beau’s ranch is selected as the perfect filming location.

With Beau’s attraction to Amelia growing, it might also be the perfect setting for a Christmas romance. But falling for Amelia means letting her in again, and his heart still has the scars from the first time.

Amelia finally has the chance to make a serious film, but she needs to learn how to ride a horse—and Beau is the perfect person to teach her. She’d forgotten how gorgeous he is, and how his touch made her feel.

Amelia can make audiences believe she’s in love, yet the only time she’s ever truly fallen for a man was with the smoldering Beau. But how can she trust that her cowboy won’t break her heart again? Maybe what they need is a bit of Christmas magic...

Great read, I had a really hard time putting my Kindle down to do my Adult responsibilities.

This was a great read on giving college sweethearts a second chance at love. Beau gets to make his farm stronger with the money he is bringing in by allowing the movie his old flame Ami is filming on his land and Ami gets to show she can really act in something other than romance movies. I love books by Ms. Jackson and she did not disappoint on this one.

I got this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Spoiler-free of course.

So, when I started this book it instantly made me think of a Wattpad story. Its chapters are short and the story is pretty to the point. However, when I kept reading I started to dislike the book. I really didn't enjoy the characters...which is an important part of the book.

The main female character, Amelia, is such an airhead but then gets mad that people think she's an airhead. It drove me crazy because if she wanted people to think of her as intelligent then maybe she shouldn't act like an idiot. Also, the big thing about her was that she's afraid to ride horses but needs to learn to ride one for the movie...I can understand being afraid of horses, but her level of fear was roll-my-eyes ridiculous. She was afraid to even touch the horse and would run off crying every time. A grown woman would constantly run off crying! About everything, not even just the horses. It made me want to slap her in the face.

Beau was okay...we love a hunky cowboy. I didn't like how he and Amelia were so oblivious to everything and constantly worried about such trivial things. It was so annoying. They create these problems to solve them on the next page. They act so confused about what they want from one another and then they don't even trust one another...which even the reasoning for that was beyond dumb to me.

This book is incredibly surface level and doesn't require much thought to read because nothing goes into depth. I would have at least liked to see more character depth. Oh well. Also, if you think this book is steamy I can assure you it's not...I was expecting steaminess since there's a shirtless man on the cover, but nope...pretty dry. Also, when they do get into it her vagina is described as "her seam" ugh. Gag me with a spoon because that's the worst description of a vagina. I cringed every time it mentioned "her seam".

This book is also incredibly cliche and predictable. I don't mind cliche but when I was able to predict every single thing it took the enjoyment away. I'll be honest I'm not always good at predicting things accurately but I predicted everything. This book gives Hallmark vibes for sure but there's just no depth in it at all.

However, it is a really easy quick read if you're looking for something simple and easy then this might be a nice book for you. I did enjoy the ending I thought the ending was pretty cute and I liked it a lot. I just wish this book gave more Christmas vibes than it did...it didn't have any Christmas vibes really.

Overall, this book wasn't for me. I wouldn't mind trying a different book by this author though because I do have hope that she's got some hidden gems out there. I would say if this book sounds right up your alley then totally go for it! It may have not been for me but I know a lot of other people enjoyed it! :)

A unique Christmas Past story regarding a cowboy and an actress. Actress Amelia ended up at her past boyfriend Beau’s family ranch who had dropped his dream of being a cinematographer to returning to his family’s ranch to look after his father and new born sister. A movie is being filmed at the ranch but will a ex-relationship be reformed between Amelia and Beau? Beau reconnected with Amelia over house riding lessons as their relationship grows could they overcome certain situations and obstacles which might cause a rift. As some people follow their career dreams and others need to put their dreams on hold due to certain situations as they care and love their close relatives to help them to overcome huge emotions due to the loss of a loved one. The storyline shows that certain decisions that are made to ensure loved ones are being taken care of in their time of depression while battling emotions. Even though Beau puts his dream career on hold while he’s helping to take care of his father and sister he finds that being a cinematographer is no longer important to him.

Can I get Christmas love stories all the year, I love that Beau has a second chance with the girl he loves and we get to see them together, and I love it, everything about them and their story is pretty beautiful for me. Highly recommended for those who love romance.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I enjoyed this book. I know they are predictable but I still found it fun. I liked the characters, they had flaws and seemed just nice. Interesting 2nd chance romance. 3.5 stars I would recommend to romance readers.

When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. Throw in a little holiday fun and this is a perfect book to snuggle up with on any day. This one took by surprise!

I think this might be my 6th Christmas book this year, and I loved that Cowboy's Christmas Past wasn't overly Christmas or overly cheesy/dramatic (there's still some). The language (shit and damn) seemed a little overused,, but with the fun, fast story I got over it. If you're looking for a contemporary romance with a ranch- hand, this one is one I would definitely recommend and also to anyone that liked Christina Lauren's Twice in a Blue Moon.

Also in the ARC I received there is one small error. At one point when it's supposed to say Rebecca, it says Rachel.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Amelia and Beau. They meet in college. Amelia is an actress and Beau is a rancher. Amelia is filming a movie on Beau’s ranch. They rekindle their romance. They have some issues but work them and get engaged.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. Beau and Amelia were really interesting characters by themselves which made it easy to see why they would fall in love with one another. I would have liked more about their relationship in college and the events between the two of them when Beau decided to leave school to help his father and sister. I just feel that kind of information would have helped to shape who they were as a couple both in the present and past and why it had been impossible for them to keep in touch over all those years. The pacing on the story is also very well done, there are no parts that lag or seem to just be filler to help pass time in the story. I wasn't sure why it was Beau that had to do the grand romantic gesture and not Amelia. His concerns about the longevity of their relationship were valid (and it always feels like the guys have to be the ones to make this kind of a move). I think it would have been just as good (if not better) had Amelia done it. I understand why the author chose The Searchers as the big movie remake for this, but I do wish she had selected a slightly less racist classic film.

Well this was such an easy and light read it was delightful! I needed a good, sweet book to binge and this filled that need perfectly.

Beau Taylor had big dreams of a life in the film industry but when his mother died unexpectedly he had to drop out of school and return home to the ranch to help his father and little sister. In doing so, he left behind the love of his life Amelia Crawford - or Ami as he once knew her. Now a world famous rom-com actress, Amelia has landed the role that could change her career - a super serious Western remake of an old classic with her taking the once male and now female lead role. Problem being, it's a Western and she can't ride a horse and is deathly afraid. Beau has been tasked with teaching her and helping her overcome this fear. She immediately feels those sparks again but her heart is afraid to give this cowboy a chance to break it again.

This was the reading equivalent of a Hallmark movie in the best way possible. It was sweet and uplifting story about a second chance romance. I should mention, the book is not nearly as steamy as the cover page would have you believe though. Lots of sweetness, minimal spice! Curl up beside the fire and give this one a read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review. This title is now available to purchase!

Cowboy’s Christmas Past by Mary Sue Jackson
Publisher: Relay Publishing
Publication Date: September 30, 2021
Genre: General Fiction (Adult), Romance

Cowboy’s Christmas Past by Mary Sue Jackson is a standalone second chance romance.

This was a great story! I loved the characters and the storyline. I thought the romance was beautiful and believable. I loved the small town Texas feel and the community. I wouldn't really describe this as a Christmas romance, but there is a hint of the holiday feel. I did enjoy reading this and found the story to be captivating!

I'm so grateful to Joanne Fluke, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Ten years later, a couple get their Christmas present at a second chance romance.

Beau is a cowboy who left his plans in cinematography and his girlfriend behind to return home due to a sad family tragedy.

Amelia is an underrated actress. She strives to be successful and this new role could be her big break. It involves riding a horse. She doesn't ride and she is scared of horses.

The film location happens to be on Beau's ranch, and he is tasked to teach her to ride. Their breakup wasn't ideal and their reunion is awkward. Once they get over the initial discomfort, they begin their lessons. Beau proves to have a lot of patience and Amelia shows determination. One thing hasn't changed. Their feelings. When Beau opens up about his reasons for leaving, they pick up where they left off. As they have different lives now, can they have a future together?

Beau's father and his little sister are fun to be around. Their family bond is strong. Amelia does an amazing deed for the small town, but there is always someone to put the spanner in the works. The paparazzi don't help. In the end, they get their much deserved happiness.

I received an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Another brilliant read by Leslie North. Quickly becoming one of my favourite authors for a steamy romance story. As usual, loved the characters and the story line.

This was a copy from NetGalley.

Beau and Amelia were an item in college. Due to family issues he had to return home to the ranch and was not able to return to college. Both had issues with him leaving college and not contacting Amelia again.

Amelia is now an actor and her new movie is being filmed on his ranch. They both realize the sparks are still there. Amelia needs to learn to ride a horse for the new movie and Beau is teaching her to ride.

On a trip to town Amelia sees an old movie theater that is going to be demolished and decides to save it and give it back to the town.

Of course, the tabloids show up looking for a story on the couple. Beau has a sister that is ten and he finds the press trying to get her to talk. He decides he has to let Amelia go back to Hollywood.

Good plot and a decent execution of what had been laid out, it held a lot of the usual christmas tropes of these romance novels, so perhaps a little more originality. The main female protagonist was dull, but overall I still enjoyed this read.

I got to say I envision a different Beau than the one on the cover. Either way he's a sexy cowboy. Amelia is the one that he let get away. Now that he's given a second chance he's running with it. I appreciated the relationship that Beau has with his father and sister. Don't see that too often anymore. I think that was a draw to Beau as much as the man himself.
