A cute little story about two pigs adventuring in the city. Walter is a little nervous about the trip but Willy sticks by him and encourages him. It shows that different people are nervous about different things and that they can still be brave and find positives and support in each other.
This was so cute!!
As a former "country" mouse moved to the city, this story felt familiar. Two sweet little friends shared the places they are most comfortable, helped each other face fears and adventured together. Such a sweet little story. And the illustrations are cute too. My son is three and a half and loved it all.
Thanks to net galley and the publishers for our electronic ARC copy in exchange for our honest review. We had a lot of fun reading it.
My five year old boy loved this book, he enjoyed this book immensely. Will recommend for sure! Cute and sweet
Walter and Willy are friends who are very different. Walter isn't afraid of anything, Willy seems to be afraid of everything, but is he really? When it is time to venture out of their neighbourhood and comfort zone, Willy steps up and keeps nervous Walter, from freaking out. My grandson is very anxious, so he identifies with these characters. Willy is afraid of monsters, bullies, and scary movies, while Walter is not. Walter is not sure if he wants to get on a bus and travel to the city for lunch, but with his buddy by his side, he is okay and even manages to have some fun. This is a pretty simple story that shows the reader that it is normal to be nervous, anxious of afraid of different things. It also shows that even those who seem to be afraid of nothing, still have things that make them anxious or nervous. With family and friends to support us, we can move forward and face our fears and hopefully, overcome them. The illustrations are colourful, cute and happy. The book is a good way to talk to kids about what scares them and why it’s okay to be afraid. With my grandson, we talked about what we can do if we are anxious and worried about something. A cute book to start those discussions.
The illustrations were cheerful and the story sounded like it would be good for beginning readers. However, it worked more as a picture books for read-alouds, as the text and vocabulary were a bit higher. In this realm, the story falls flat. The characters don't have much depth, the publisher had to include a disclaimer that children shouldn't wander into a city on their own (even though the story celebrates this), and they use Italian phrases without explaining why the pigs do so.
It really fell flat for me and I think a story about two pigs who decide to be brave and explore a city would be better with simpler sentences in an easy-reader format. Otherwise there needs to be more depth and interest.
I thought this book was very enduring. Walter is always the brave one until one day in an adventure he isn't, but that's where Willy comes in to help his friend.
Friends can take turns being brave for each other and I thought that's such a great message for young kids that always think everything is so black and white.
Going to the city can be scary but lucky for Willy, his best best friend is always ready for a adventure. They go to the city with all the city sounds, sights and food. The city can be so big and busy. It is different but fun. Go on adventure with Walter and Willy in the city.
A special thank you to Clavis Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Everyone needs a friendship like Walter and Willy have! They are so supportive of each other and fun! I enjoyed this book and think it would give a good message to kids.
Walter and Willy are two adorable little piglets who are BFFs. Willy is fearless and brave. He is not afraid of monsters, flu shots, the ocean, Boar the bully or scary movies, just to name a few. Willy on the other hand is hesitant and fearful about most things but one thing he loves and is not fearful of is the big city. He invites his bestie on a bumpy bus ride to check it out.
Walter discovers that he is nervous about the trip and what he might find there. He feels apprehensive about the long bus ride, the tall buildings, the bustling crowded streets...oh my... they all seem so scary. His best friend puts Walter's worst fears to rest. Willy has every one of Walter's concerns covered. Walter wonders: What if they get lost? Willy brought a map. What if they miss the bus home? Willy assures his friend another one will be coming. What if? What if? No worries replies his friend, everything will be just fine. They head off to Willy's favourite restaurant to enjoy some pizza before returning home.
Kids will learn that it is okay to be afraid some times. We all are at one time or another. The book is a perfect opportunity to discuss your child's fears and how they can handle those strong and scary feelings that rise up inside of them. "Walter and Willy Go to the City" is the second book about the two. It is about friendship and how friends work together to overcome each other's anxieties and fears.
The illustrations are lovely and engaging. They enrich the text and its positive message. I love the book and highly recommend it.
Funny book about two friends who go on adventures together, even though one of them is a little timid. Really cute read about friendship and how you can help each other over come your fears.
Cute story about two buddies venturing through the city, one a worry warr learning how to conquer his fears with his friend’s help. Easy read and great illustrations. Definitely good for older toddlers (4/5yo) or young grade school kids.
A cute story about 2 pigs that go out of their comfort zones. It shows how friends can support each other in scary times, and help each other do hard things.
Walter isn't afraid of anything. Willy, on the other hand... But when they go to the city to visit their favorite restaurant, Willy takes charge and helps Walter through his fears. My cautious five year old and I enjoyed this book, especially because I think we can both relate to Willy at times. It was nice to see the role reversal between the two main characters. I'd definitely recommend this short, sweet book for any young child who sometimes has a hard time with new experiences. Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for this ARC!
Walter and Willy Go To The City is a cute story celebrating the strengths and differences in two friends and how those differences compliment each other. The story and illustrations flow together nicely. I read this with my 5 and 9 year old daughters and they both enjoyed the book.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.
I am not really sure what the point of this book was. I get the concept they were tying to convey, but it wasn't very well done. I loved the illustrations and I just wish the story flowed a bit better.
Oh these illustrations are just a DELIGHT! I love that these two friends exchange roles in the book - one being fearless and the other fearsome. What a great message to share that we're all nervous/afraid of certain things that don't bother the next person.
Really love the inclusion of Spanish.
This picture book followed two characters named Walter and Willy. Willy doesn't seem to be afraid of anything, while Walter is more easily scared. Then one day they go into the city, and Willy is nervous while Walter is more comfortable.
I enjoyed this picture book, and the art was cute. I liked the adorable pig character design of Willy and Walter. I think this book would be a great way to talk to children about fears and how friends can be different.

Walter and Willy are two cute buddies. While Walter isn’t afraid of anything, Willy is cautious and tends to be frightened of bullies and the dark. One day, the duo goes to the city to eat their favorite pizza.
However, Walter doesn’t like bumpy rides and is afraid of getting lost in the big city. Will is happy and carefree. They go to the pizza house and eat to their fill. Then they go back home back to the countryside.
The story is pretty simple. It shows that there’s nothing wrong with being afraid or cautious. Everyone is different and fears something or another. With good friends supporting us, we can overcome our fears and have fun.
The illustrations are cute and cheerful. The book is a good way to talk to kids about what scares them and why it’s okay to be afraid.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Clavis Publishing and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute story about two best friends Walter and Willie. Out in the country, Walter isn't afraid of anything, while Willy is finds much that makes him uncomfortable. But one day as he travels into the city with Willy, he's the nervous one! It is their friendship that balances one another out as they explore new things together. The illustrations are cute and colorful too. Fun book!
Thank you NetGalley and Clavis Publishing, Inc. for a copy of "Walter and Willy Go To The City" in exchange for my honest review.
Walter is fearless. He's not afraid of monsters, flu shots, the ocean, Boar the bully, scary movies or the Bogeyman. But he does not like bumpy rides on the bus. Willy is afraid of most things except the big city - he loves the buildings, traffic, crowds. Walter thinks the city is busy, big and different. He worries about getting lost but Willy has brought a map. Walter worried about missing the bus home but Willy was confident that there would be another one soon. They went to Willy's favourite pizza restaurant.
Feeling never afraid or a little bit scared some times is okay. This is a wonderful book for ages 5 and up, teachers and parents to discuss feelings of fear in children.
