Grief in the United States is often commandeered by Judeo Christian religious beliefs, so it was interesting to see a guide for dealing with death from a Buddhist perspective. I should say, several Buddhists perspectives. Margaret Meloni sought out spiritual teachers to discuss death, and asked them questions about their own experiences, suffering, major losses, and how to work through some of the hardest separations from loved ones.
For those looking to embraces these issues and expand their spiritual practice, it is a great place to look. This is also a great book for readers wanting to learn about how Buddhism addresses the difficult questions about life and death.
This book provided comfort from a different perspective than I've had from other books on grief. I also felt nurtured by the author's tone and language throughout. It was clear that she empathized with the reader as a result of her own experiences with loss.
