Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I requested this one strictly because I loved the cover and I am happy to say that it didn't backfire on me this time lol. This was a book that I pretty much loved from the very beginning...obviously, there will be parts that are a little cliche but the characters were very likeable and also very easy to relate to...and the kitten that started it all was in my heart as soon as I met it...throw in the hunky vet who also runs an animal rescue and his daughter and you have melting hearts all over the place. Not to mention the descriptions of the location she ended up in...The basic premise was one I really enjoyed and it never disappointed in any way...I would 100% recommend to fans of contemporary fiction. There really was nothing I didn't like about this one. :)
Romance author Maya inherits her Great Aunt CeCe's toy shop in Coral Cove, NC and moves there to start over after a broken engagement and the recent deaths of both her mother and her Great Aunt. Local veterinarian Brody is raising his sisters daughter as his own and also getting over a broken engagement of his own. As they meet and get to know one another, they find that they have a lot in common and a relationship blossoms out of a friendship, even though they are both a little cautious. Will Maya's ex show up and ruin things for her? Will Maya be brave enough to start looking for her father? Will Brody and Maya work through their past hurts and give in to the love they both feel for each other?
I didn't really love this book, but I didn't hate it either. I wasn't a huge fan of Maya...she seemed to make childish decisions and sounded more like a little girl than a 30 year old woman and she seemed super desperate for a husband and child. The choices she made were things that made me want to knock some sense into her.
This was a clean romance that was marketed as a Christian romance. That is what drew me to this book. But there was almost no mention of Christ or their faith in this book. I listened to the audio and upped the speed to 1.25% and stuck it out, but I don't know that I will read another by Ms. Clipston.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was a quick read and very likable. The main character Maya Reynolds was trying to get over her grief as she took over her aunt's toy store. She found solace in helping others find toys and the new kitten helped her along as well. When the town veterinarian and his daughter became regular visitors because he fell in love with Maya. This would be a great beach read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
THE VIEW FROM CORAL COVE is a heart tugging story filled with grief, loneliness, heartbreak, and love that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! I really prayed that Maya would be able to convince Brody that he wasn’t damaged and deserved to be loved and happy once again. Amy Clipston isn’t afraid to write about subjects that tug at the readers hearts. Brody is raising his niece as his daughter. His sister, who was Ashlyn’s mom, has passed away. Maya is instantly attracted to Brody, but assumes he is married. Oh, as a warning to the reader, keep the tissues handy and do not read the ending in a public place unless you don’t mind crying in front of strangers! I’m so excited to continue catching up on all of Amy Clipston’s previous books.
When I hear that Amy Clipston has a new book coming out, I run to it. THE VIEW FROM CORAL COVE is exactly why! Maya’s only family were her mother and her great Aunt, CeCe. Maya’s mother passed away about 3 years earlier and she never knew her father. When her aunt passed away she left Maya her toy store where Maya spent many of her summers when she was a child. She also leaves her a letter that holds A few clues to her past. Maya finds herself questioning everything she knows about herself and her mother and their past. All the characters and animals are very likeable in THE VIEW FROM CORAL COVE except Maya’s ex boyfriend, Kyle. He is a liar who broke Maya’s heart and a first class jerk.
Amy Clipston has created a wonderful story filled with beautiful families and characters. She is so amazing at what she writes, no matter if it’s Amish or contemporary fiction. Her descriptions of each setting had me feeling as if I were right there in the toy store giggling with the Maya, Brody, and Ashlyn. THE VIEW FROM CORAL COVE was a quick read for me because I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I found myself cheering for Maya and hoping she could get Brody’s walls to come down. I love the way she never gave up on him no matter how hard he pushed her away.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Book wasn't meant for me. Hopefully someone will enjoy it more. I will look into renting it in the future
This is a sweet romance about a sweet romance writer with writer's block. Maya was raised by her mother and great aunt. She received lots of love, but she still missed having a father. When her mother refused to talk about him, she assumed he didn't want her, so dreamed about having a husband and family of her own. This desire lead her to become a bestselling author, allowing her to quit her job as a office manager when her mother got sick from Kidney disease. Within a few short years, she lost her mother, then her fiancee, who took a job abroad and asked for his ring back and then the death of her beloved great aunt CeCe. But Cece had left Maya her beloved business, Cece's Toy Chest, so Maya packed up and moved back to Coral Cove where she had spent her summers. Cece also left her a letter, about her father. She then debates back and forth as whether to look for him. The first day back she also meets a single father, Brody, a veterinarian and his adorable daughter Ashlyn. But Brody also was rejected by his previous fiancee and is very protective of his daughter and his own heart. He wants their relationship to go slow, and so was the story- very slow. Nice characters and an adorable kitten, and the idea of a romance writer loosing her muse because her fiancee left her is acceptable. But Brody's hesitations, got really annoying after awhile, as did Maya moaning about feeling unloveable. Some secrets end up leading to happy surprises and some have a way of biting you in the back.
A very charming clean romance. I loved the character Ashlyn and thought that she made the story complete.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was an enjoyable book. The story was interesting to me, and the romance was sweet. I will recommend it to friends.
This book is a good book to take to the beach or set by a roaring fire. The characters are fun and the little girl is really sweet. Maya returns to Coral Cove to take over the business she inherited. She meets a little girl, Ashlyn, who insists she needs a kitten. So, of course, she now has a kitten. Ashlyn's father is the local veterinarian.
I normally read mysteries, so this was a nice change of pace.
I received this book from Thomas Nelson Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
The View from Coral Cove by Amy Clipston is about great loss and second chances. The main character suffers huge losses that being her back to the town of her childhood. Here, a wayward kitten leads her down an unexpected path to love and an unexpected life. This is a wonderful book that readers of women’s fiction and romance will enjoy. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher for an honest opinion. Amy Clipston created such a sweet storyline with these characters. Many parts were slow, but the character buildup was adequate. This is a great beach read to correspond with the beach theme.
A novelist, a bookstore, a beach…I’m hooked already! Sweet, charming and heartwarming! Amy Clipston is a gem.
Woof - this was a sweet story but boy, did it drag along in parts. Ashlyn was adorable, the long-lost father storyline was very intriguing. The entire toy shop plot was a bit hard to follow as she seemed to spend very little time actually running it. The romance between Brody and Maya was sweet, but could have moved just a little more quickly for my taste.
I really enjoyed this book. Amy Clipston does a great job of keeping the reader engaged until the last word.
The View From Coral Cove by Amy Clipston
When a jilted romance novelist escapes to a small beach town, the last thing she expected to find was the start of an even better love story!
This was a light romance novel. I enjoyed the shore background, It was well-written with friendly characters.
Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.
This story felt like a mediocre Hallmark movie in book form, and I wanted a lot more from it. It was fine, and an easy, clean, laid-back read, but I felt it lacked character depth and spiritual growth. While marketed as Christian fiction, Jesus plays no role in any of the characters' lives or decisions that the reader can see. Going to church is mentioned once or twice but not in any meaningful way. There was nothing wrong with the book; I just found it rather bland and unmemorable.
I received a complimentary electronic copy of this book from NetGalley.
I've enjoyed a lot of Amy Clipston's Amish fiction, so I was excited to read The View from Coral Cove. This novel is a contemporary romance set in the beautiful seaside town of Coral Cove, North Carolina.
Author Maya Reynolds has just been abruptly dumped by her fiancé when she inherits her late aunt's toy store in Coral Cove. Still grieving, Maya soon finds herself neck-deep in getting the floundering store out of the red and struggling with inspiration for her past-due novel. When a kitten wanders into her store during an adoption event, Maya meets local vet Brody Tanner and his precocious eight-year-old daughter, Ashlyn. The three quickly form a bond, and work together to get The Toy Chest back on its feet. But they just might find more than friendship.
I loved the characters in this story! Maya and Brody made a fantastic couple (I was rooting for them from the very first moment they met), and Ashlyn was such a fun character. The plot was easy to follow and enjoyable to read, while the characters remained relatable. I read this one as quickly as possible--I just couldn't put it down!
If you enjoy contemporary romance, I'd recommend giving The View from Coral Cove a try.
*I received a complimentary copy of The View from Coral Cove through the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My positive review is not required.
I've read a ton of books by Amy Clipston but I don't recall any of them being anything but Amish fiction. That's what I expected this to be. Nope! Straight up contemporary fiction and it was good.
Interesting characters, beautiful setting and an intriguing storyline all come together to make a wonderful afternoon of reading. Highly recommend!
The View from Coral Cove is a light and quick romance. The characters of Maya and Brody are enjoyable and seeing their romance unfold is lovely. There were times that both of them annoyed me and I wanted to reach through the pages to shake them and make them change what they were doing but the conclusion ended up being worth the wait (and frustration). All in all this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend.
The View from Coral Cove has all the elements needed for a perfect "Hallmark" style romance. Maya returns to her Coral Cove to run her inherited toy store and finish a novel that she has writer's block and hasn't been able to finish. She is also running from an engagement that ended. She meets Dr. Tanner, the local vet, who is also love shy.
I am only giving this book 3 stars because even though I liked the characters, the book didn't "grab" my attention as much as other books by Clipston. But, I will keep looking forward to her stories.
I received a complimentary copy of The View from Coral Cove through NetGAlley, but all opinions are my own.
