Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs is a wonderful addition to the Rebel Girls series. This colorful book shows off 25 mother-daughter duos that have done amazing things across the world.

Not all the duos are traditional. Some are adoptive parents and their kids. I wasn’t sure if we would have that in this collection but I’m glad we did. The art was, as always, very unique and diverse. A different artist does each page, so you are exposed to many different art styles.

What I loved the most was that some of these women are still alive, or still currently doing work. Most of the time, when you read about women who have done extraordinary things, they're historical figures from years ago. That isn’t the case here. I even realized I followed some of these people on social media. I was so proud to see them in this book, to know other people are acknowledging the work they’ve done.

I also put this review on Instagram and Herd but Herd doesn’t currently allow links 💕

I enjoy reading about these fantastic women who happen to be related. It’s a great way to teach my daughter about past and current events while still being relevant.

The Rebel Girls do it once again! This was slightly different from the other books in that it featured pairs of Rebel Girls - mothers and daughters. This was a nice touch and probably could make a nice Mothers Day gift.

The only drawback with this book was that it didn’t have the focus of the other books. Some of the stories were fantastic and the girls are/were doing truly remarkable things. Other times their activities didn’t seem that special, though their bond was emphasized instead. So I felt that the authors here were not able to find a consistent angle of approach for this book.

The Rebel Girls books are a great encouragement for the girls who will grow to be the movers, shakers, and fixers of the world they will inherit. The role models in this book are mother/daughter pairs who have excellent rapport with each other and the goals they have set for themselves. There are women well known to all, or to today's mothers, or today's girls, or simply good examples from prior and current century. Excellent book that is designed to make all think outside the box and act of belief in their opportunity to enact change. The colorful illustrations continue to be excellent!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book from Rebel Girls via NetGalley. Thank you!

Rebel Girls Powerfull Pairs in one of the latest editions in the rebel Girls series and did not disappoint!
There are some truly amazing mother, daughter duos in this book , some fantastic little stories about them, and why they're someone to look up to. The artwork is beautiful, and I loved the new addition at the back of the book where children can write their own story about themselves and activities to do that are mindful and empowering! I'll never tire of this series and I love how much variety it offers to females of the world today! I wish these had been available when I was a child!

I love all the Rebel Girls books, but this has to be my favourite. The focus on mother-daughter pairings was a really interesting narrative, and the women written about were so diverse and interesting. It was interesting to read the stories of women from all walks of life, and all different cultures!

This is a book I'll be buying for my classroom - I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I know my students will too!

Beautiful and inspiring and amazing collection of stories about women. Stories about their lives, their loves, their strenght. It's really beautiful and important to read this book. For shure, as soon as this will publish I will gift it to my nephew because it's really important to read this kind of books at young age.

This was my third book to read from Rebel Girls and it did not disappoint at all! I loved that this book was mother/daughter duos and covered everywhere from singers like Beyoncé and Blue to scientists like Marie and Irene Curie.

The artwork is so beautiful and it’s great to see so many different style of artwork from different artists. I also like the feature of being able to scan a code on each page so you can hear more about the mother/daughters.

At the end of the book there are fun activities for readers to do with their moms or grown ups which I think is so engaging and neat!

This is a great series for young girls and boys to read and can’t wait to read the others in this series!

Powerful pairs, powerful illustrations- with exciting questions to write your own story ---

What a wonderful and inspiring collection of stories about strong mother-daughter relationships, all between well-known and, thankfully, lesser-known pairs of mothers and daughters. Powerful illustrations of the powerful pairs are shown in the book. ---

Strong company, cooperation, trust, and support are all present in these stories. We get to know something about the different projects they spent time on together. Standing for their rights, health aid, humanity, as well as dancing and photography, are all themes that are represented.. ---

Aside from the stories, I especially like the part where you are encouraged to record your own story and portrait with your mother or another adult you like. There are inspiring questions about favorite activities, objects, characters, and memories, for example.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book, in exchange for an honest review!

The Rebel Girls franchise hits the bulls eye yet again! I didn't think I'd be so interested in what seems to be random pairs of women, but I'm so glad to be proven wrong. I love how this book shows insights into relationships that I usually wouldn't even think of, and I love how it highlights how a daughter or someone close to someone successful could be inspired to not only forge their own path, but to have that unwavering belief in their own selves, boosted by the support system by their said pair in the book..

I love how I, a twenty-five-year-old woman, was completely enamored by this book, so I can only imagine how good of an impact this could be for learning, knowledge-hungry kids. I definitely recommend this to EVERYONE; every gender, every age, every person could benefit from learning about the ways different women made use of their relationships and their inspirations to become their own person. It also showcases the importance of a good guiding hand could be in one's journey. The illustrations are also still adorable and beautiful, as always!

I received an electronic ARC from Rebel Girls through NetGalley.
Another informative entry in this series of books. Readers meet mother and daughter pairs who have changed the world by working together in their various fields. The illustrations complete with quotes help readers connect to these pairs. The text is easy to follow and brings these women to life for middle grade readers. They serve as inspiration for younger generations to challenge themselves to find their passions too.
Pages are included at the end of the book for readers to write their own story. the authors also include activities to encourage readers to explore and experiment.
A terrific addition to elementary school libraries.

We have a few of the Rebel Girls brand books in our book collection and my 3 year old daughter often picks them to read as our bedtime picks. She absolutely loves reading about women across the globe, we often google a picture or video to add to the experience. This book about Powerful Pairs is one we will definitely have to buy! I love that this shows mothers and daughters in all shapes, colours and sizes. She said 'I hope you and me can be in a book together one day" Highly recommend the read and would absolutely buy for friends with daughters!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for ARC of Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Rebel Girls Powerful Pairs is a children's picture book that contains biographies of 25 mothers and daughters who are powerful in their respective spheres of influence. The book contains full-color illustrations as well as 1-2 page informational text excerpts. I would guess that the grade-level that this book targets would be between 5th-6th grade.

Overall, this book has a very important message. It's so important to tell young girls about all of the possibilities open to them and to encourage them to pursue their dreams. Often, when books include biographies of "heroes" or "famous people," they're almost always all men. The Rebel Girls series of books is incredible, because they show young girls everywhere they can follow their dreams and be successful. If you're intrigued by the description, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in March!

Powerful Pairs is the newest book in the Rebel Girls series. It features 25 dynamic mother/daughter duos, from entertainers, scientists, athletes, and more. Yes, there are a few big names are within - like Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter, but there also some unexpected duos as well.

Some of my faves:

Kayuula & Shina Noralinga, from Nunavik, Canada – women who showed the world, via social media, the tradition of throat singing, and who also used their voices to educate people on Indigenous rights.

Marie Curie & Irene Joliot-Curie – a mother/daughter duo who braved WWI to help wounded soldiers and who even open a hospital which was entirely run by women.

Emmeline, Christabel, and Sylvia Parkhurst – suffragists consisting of a mother and two daughters, who fought for (and succeed in) a women’s right to vote.

All in all, there are 25 stories, each one a page long which also includes a colourful illustration, and a QR code so you can hear bonus content of each mother/daughter story.

An amazing book that is small, yet powerful, and perfect for young readers and pre-teens.

I received this book from Netgally in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love the series I love the idea and the simple but spot on writing, along with the art work all done by woman always warms my heart.
Unfortunately this instalment wasn’t my fave As I felt the stories where not as compelling as other ones, and adding Beyoncé (again) made me feel like the research put into this book wasn’t quite there, mostly because I’m sure there there are other stories from other people/ countries or parts of the world that we haven’t heard yet.

I think it’s a lovely idea and a great present for Mother’s Day or a birthday but nothing to be hyped about.

By the way I read it on my mums birthday because I love her and I haven’t seen it in 3 years so perhaps I’m being a little sentimental and feeling underwhelmed by it.

Another perfect book by Rebel Girls!

It's inspiring to read the stories of these mothers and daughters from all over the world, who faced different challenges, came from different cultures, and still had so much in common. They were all able to make amazing things together and their bounding is universal. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful.

I totally recommend this book for children (and honestly, to everyone).

Another great addition to the rebel girls series.

As a mother of three girls, I really enjoyed this book. The book also highlighted many mothers and daughters that we hadn't heard of.

As usual, the illustrations are great. Lots of diversity throughout the book too.
