I liked the book. However, I didn't particularly appreciate reading from the perspective of the police officer(s). I liked the other perspective. I thought the ending was good.
Liv wakes up in a cab early in the morning in New York and can’t remember the last 2 years of her life. All she knows is there was a murder this morning, the security footage shows a woman leaving the murder scene that looks like Liv, and when Liv woke up in the cab she had a bloody knife in her pocket.
That’s all I’ll say cause I don’t want to give away anything. It’s best to just go in blind. Megan Goldin writes great thrillers, and this one is a wild ride.
This is a great thriller, I wanted to know what happened, it was hard to put down. The only reason why I’m giving it 4 stars is because I guessed the twist and who who was responsible early on from about 25%. It’s a good thriller I just wish it wasn’t as predictable.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This was hands down one of the best thrillers I have ever read. I was hooked from the first page and literally couldn’t put it down until I found out what happened. I loved the use of flashbacks combined with the main characters constantly losing her short term memory.
I really enjoyed this book. I had it figured out towards the end but I still enjoyed seeing how it all came together. I read this book in like a day. I highly recommend the suspenseful and grossing novel.
I've been drawn in by everything I've read my Megan Goldin, and Stay Awake is no exception. The book instantly hooks you with the premise, and the characters are flawed but relatable. By about halfway through the book, you're not going to want to stop. My only complaint is that certain aspects of the "reveal" at the end just don't make sense - but while you'll think about that later (as I did), at the time you finally reach the end you will be devouring each page.
Oh my GOODNESS!! This book was just absolutely phenomenal. The writing was compelling and the story had many twists and turns. I honestly really was rooted for the main character even if she would be considered “unreliable”. Definitely my favorite thriller of the year so far
I really liked this thriller novel. It was unique and the relatively short chapters made it easy to follow all the storylines / time jumps. The story was different but not so weird as to be completely unrealistic. This is the second Megan Goldin book I've read and this was just as good and as creative as The Night Swim. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys thrillers, especially when there are creative twists are aren't out of the realm of possibility. I look forward to reading more Megan Goldin books in the future.
Such a great story! Edge of your seat, fist clenching suspense, well thought-out characters, and a satisfying climax. I was angered at some of the characters’ choices but eventually felt vindicated. Loved it!
This book for a thrill from the first page! Mystery with true crime, and tons of suspense take the reader on a wild ride in this psychological thriller. I could not put this down when I started reading it. It just gets better and better and goes out with a bang! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. The dual timelines of the two central characters also contribute to the excitement. Solving a murder with Detective Halliday and searching answers with Liv. Highly recommend this easily 5 ⭐️ book! *Chef’s kiss*😘🤌🏼
4.5 stars - rounded up. Thanks to NetGalley, Megan Goldin, and St. Martin's Publishing Group for sending me an ARC of Stay Awake in exchange for an honest review. (to be published August 2022). Remember that rom-com with Sandler and Barrymore called 50 First Dates? Well take that scenario and swap the rom-com for an intense psychological thriller and you've got this book. After falling in love with her 2019 novel The Escape Room and even more so again in 2020 after the release of The Night Swim, Stay Awake quickly became one of my most anticipated thrillers of the year. Liv Reese suffers from memory loss and the book begins with her waking up in a NYC cab. Every time she falls asleep her memory resets to two years ago. As she is trying to put together the pieces of the last two years, she realizes she is wanted by the police for a murder she has no memory of. She knows she is in danger, but can she stay awake long enough to remember how to save herself? This book was deliciously twisty and turny. The chapters are fast-paced and follow a dual timeline and it was a different take on the unreliable narrator trope that seems to be in so many thrillers these days.
This was an excellent book. I had my doubts at first, but once I made it though the first few chapters, I really enjoyed the storyline. I found it incredibly well written and held my interest.
What a ride! This book was deliciously twisty and turny. I never knew what was going to happen next. I admit, I grew overconfident and was certain I’d worked out what was going on quite early in the novel. I was completely wrong, and never saw the ending coming.
I found Megan Goldin’s Stay Awake to be refreshing and quite unexpected. Calling it a roller coaster ride is very apt. I give this a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Imagine waking up having no idea how you got there and where you actually are. You try to piece everything together while returning home. Add in a bloody knife in your possession, with no idea why it was in your pocket. But when you get home, there’s a couple living in your brownstone and everything in the life you remember begins to unravel. Liv can only remember her life from 2 years ago and only has writing all over her hands and arms as clues. She doesn’t know who to trust or where she can turn for help.
3 stars. There are things I liked and things that almost made me DNF this book. I thought the pace was good and the author did have me sucked in and turning pages in anticipation. Unfortunately it didn’t happen enough. The characters were not fleshed out, like at all. You learn nothing about them. So it’s hard to care for any of them. Add on an MC who is totally incompetent and frustrating at times. I wanted to jump in the book and shake some sense into her (not literally, sadly feel the need to add that little note). The biggest turn off with this book is the constant repetition and over explaining. Again and again and again. This book could’ve been half the number of pages. Or those pages could’ve been used to add some dimension and backstory to the characters. There’s more I didn’t care for, but I don’t want to harp on the negative too much. I wish I liked this book better, it definitely had promise.

I read “The Night Swim” by this author earlier this year and loved it so was super excited to receive this book to read and review. This was such a unique psychological thriller! Liv Reese can’t remember two years of her life. This book takes you through two different timelines, the past leading up to the last day Liv remembers and the present where Liv tries to figure out everything that’s happened in the two years she’s forgotten. This book is twisty, thrilling, fast paced and will keep you reading until the very end. A must read of any thriller lover. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Another great book by Megan Goldin! I was so excited to read more work from her! This book had me on the edge of my seat, excited, the whole time! This story was terrifying and entertaining.
I was in a reading slump, but Stay Awake by Megan Golding pulled me right out of it. From the first chapter, I knew the book would be a page turner. Don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to spoil it, but promise this lives up to the hype. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book in exchange for my honest opinion
I was so excited when I saw the email inviting me to read this novel.
Thank you St Martin’s Press and Megan Goldin.
I have to say I love Megan Goldin books and this one did not disappoint.
Liv wakes up in the back seat of a cab and she does not remember how she got there. Scribbled on her hands Stay Awake. How did she get here and why can’t she remember. What a wild ride this was, full of twist and turns. I just could not put it down.
Highly recommend 5 stars

Even though I found this book fairly predictable, I was still on the edge of my seat. There were a few plot holes that I didn't feel were fully resolved and I was quite frustrated with Liv that she wouldn't just go to the police. I understand why she didn't, but I also was annoyed by it. Overall, it's a good thriller that will make you "stay awake" far too late finishing it.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of Stay Awake.
This book had such a great beginning and middle. The concept hooked me from the start. Liv, the main character, wakes up without a memory, and the words WAKE UP written on her arm. Liv can’t fall asleep or she will forget everything she knows. However, the more the author tried to explain things, especially at the end, the more things fell apart.
OH my GOODNESS. I loved this book so much. Five stars. I could not put it down the entire time I was reading it. So incredibly impressed. Haven't loved a thriller like this since The Silent Patient.
